Such a good long time yummy hidden gem... wanted to update menu which still has fabulous prices

Mango Raspado with ice cream and lechera

Wanted a sweet treat, ordered a mango raspado and it was delicious! Quiet little spot with fast service. Ingredients tasted fresh, ice cream did not have a freezer burn taste. The lechera and vanilla ice cream made it top tier. Glad this spot is close to home!

    Macedonia Raspado and Barria Taco's

First time here using Groupon, traveled from Rita Ranch area. Bought 2 Macedonia' which were so tasty mmmm, 2 Barria Taco plates (included 3 street (white) corn tortillas generously filled w/tender savory shredded beef, a dab of cabbage, mild hot sauce and lemon juice) and 1 nachos smothered w/ hot cheese and pickled jalepeno. All this fed 3 peps. Excellent customer service, great indoor setting (limited), clean little shop serving super delicious food/drink selections.

Not sure why they have low rating. I had a good first experience. I actually feel ashamed I did not know there is a raspados place in north Tucson so close to home. I had been going to south in the city all this while to get raspados. Got the macedonia and hawaiino. Both were pretty good. The hawaiino was a little low on pineapple syrup though. The guy running the place was super friendly. He was wearing a mask. There are two tables set up outside the shop, in case you dont want to sit inside amidst this pandemic. It's a pretty small shop anyways, more like for grab and go. I will return for sure.

    Piña Raspado

First time here and it was delicious! I had to wait for my car to be done at Discount Tire, so my kids and I walked around the little center. I had the Piña Raspado and the kids had cotton candy ice cream in a cone. The raspado was delicious with plenty of pineapple pieces and perfect amount of shaved ice. My kids loved the cotton candy ice cream and are already asking me if we can go back to try more. Employee was friendly and patient. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside at the little table and chairs and enjoyed watching adorable dogs go into the animal grooming place next door. We will be back for more when we're on that side of town.

    Tostitos loaded with toppings

The raspados are pretty good here. They might be just a little above average but since they are the only place to get raspados in the area it makes them a little better. When I want a cool tangy snack I order the Tostitos loaded with chamoy and cucumbers and cheese and some other stuff. They are good when you want something fresh but don't feel like a cold drink. Nice little place with a good selection.

I originally came to get a raspado since I have never had one before. My friends ordered first so I tried theirs and both of them didn't taste very good at all. The vanilla wasn't very vanilla flavored and the strawberry was way too syrupy tasting and overly sweet. I decided to opt-out after trying theirs. I decided to order a fresas con crema instead. They use frozen strawberries, cream, and strawberry syrup with whipped cream on top. It was ok, not the best I've had. I would have preferred nonfrozen strawberries, no syrup, and some peanuts or granola in it for some crunch. My friend was craving raspados and this was the closest one so we came here. I honestly don't think I would come back though.

Just like the other reviews you've read here we got some real attitude. Only one girl was working when we pulled up and she was sitting on the bench smoking a cigarette and playing on her telephone. The practically had to bend over backwards with kindness to get her to come in and help us out. My partner actually asked her to wash her hands and she showed us the bathroom to wash ours. She politely encouraged the worker to wash her hands saying to her since she just got done smoking her hands might need washing and the girl went in and complied. As far as our treats: I first asked if they had any paletas... which for those who don't know is a wonderful fruit popsicle sold all over Mexico and some come with cream and fruit in them. The girl looked at me like she didn't even understand what I was asking for, and then told me no we don't have them. I changed gears and had a salty treat called Pico de Gallo with jicama, watermelon and cucumbers topped with a Chili salt. (I'm so glad she washed her hands because she had to cut everything up and touch everything.) My partner had a fruit and ice cream treat with berries and pineapple and an icy slush. It was just bland and tasteless. My veggies were limp and the flavors were not there. The dining area itself was sparse and didn't look visually clean, but it smelled pretty strong of Fabulosa. Just not up to par with other places we have been to.

Here's why: I'm not a huge "water ice" connoisseur, didn't grow-up on…read morethe east coast eating it so I don't love it out of tradition or nostalgia, I like it, but don't always love it. I mean, it's right there in the name, it's literally watery ice with some flavoring, so maybe it would peak for me in the crazy heat of summer when the cold is refreshing. However, add some frozen custard to make it a "gelati", and now we're getting somewhere anytime of year. I got the root beer water ice gelati, which means they start with frozen custard in the bottom of the cup (I love the vanilla), add some water ice on top to fill the cup, then add more frozen custard on top above the rim. Check out the pic I posted. My wife got the wild black cherry gelati. My rootbeer water ice was a bit bland, not strong enough tasting, her wild black cherry water ice was really flavorful and good. The frozen vanilla custard on both was excellent, rich, creamy and smooth. Every time I eat at Rita's I want to tell them 90% custard, 10% water ice. And they're always so incredibly nice they'd definitely do it. Next time! I keep saying that, seriously, next time! The service at this location was extremely welcoming and friendly, it was great. Atmosphere is bright and open, lots of light, colorful light board menus, lots of colorful, fun, happy signs with specials and such. The place is clean and well kept, comfortable, not too loud, with a slow steady stream of customers. Check out my pics of the inside. I think as far as water ice goes, compared to many other places, and I've had a few, though I'm not a water ice aficionado, Rita's is excellent. As far as frozen custard goes, Rita's is excellent. The choices and toppings are endless. I recommend Rita's. ***FREE WATER ICE DAY is coming up on March 20th. I was so excited to be in town just for 4 hours for a doc appts and couldn't wait to grab a snack…read moreat eegee's while I was in Tucson. I placed and order online so I could stop by and scoop it up on my way to my appt. After waiting 15 minutes I went inside to pick up my food only to see nobody at the counter, some workers passed me by but didn't acknowledge me as a patron standing there waiting for someone to grab my order. There was nobody in the drive thru either so I almost went through the drive through to pick it up but wasn't sure of that was proper protocol for a pickup order. Although I was in a hurry to get back on the road across town to get to my doc appt, I figured it would be safer to just park, run in, grab it, and go. But when I walked in, at around 3:25pm, it was really quiet and Perry dead inside. So when two employees saw me, made eye contact, and kept walking away without a word I suddenly was concerned about the work ethic of this establishment. Then I see 3 different women employees kicking a bucket in the back and laughing. One sees me, which I found out later was a manger named Arianna, made eye contact, and turned around and walked back towards the back without saying anything. I then continued to wait another couple minutes until she eventually came back out and said, "can I help you?" Yeah I have a pickup order. She says, "oh, I'll get that right out for you." With a look of surprise. Not let me grab your order but I'll get that right out for you. Which I assumed meant, she had no idea a ticket was even printed because they were all messing around in the back. I then see her start to put my order together. There was a ticket sitting up front at the register with my order but she never looked at it. So I assume there was a ticket in the back kitchen for her to know what I ordered. Then another employee comes up and asks what eegee I ordered. I tell her. So she started to pack my eegee. I ordered a bigee because I never get to come to eegee's as I live out of town. The eegee wasn't even filled properly. There was a huge air pocket on the center of the cup. So when I got to my appt, I grabbed coffee spoon at their beverage station and packed the eegee down, it was about 2/3rds full. They were also out of strawberry which was annoying as well. After waiting an additional 9 minutes for them to rush my order out, I head to my car. Check my order and I'm missing the buffalo fries, utensils, straws, spoons, napkins, the side of ranch. Then the manager proceeded to come out to the parking lot with my fries and started arguing with me. Telling me she's the type of person who likes to start the order once the customer arrives, telling me she didn't see the ticket, she a specific type of person this and that. So then I should have just gone through the drive through and it would have been faster? What's the point of placing the order ahead of time for pickup if you don't make it until the customer is there to pick up their order. So it took 25 minutes from the time I ordered to get my order and it was still missing items and the order was rushed and fell flat. Arianna then proceeds to give me excuse after excuse instead of just taking accountability that they were messing around in the back and not paying attention to tickets coming in. I tell her I now am going to be late for my appt and I won't have time to eat my food. No apology. She then throws her hand up in my face and says "do whatever you want." Not even sure what that means as I didn't threaten to leave a review or ask her for anything. Can't believe a manager goes out to the parking lot to argue with customers. I was shocked in disbelief. So unprofessional and horrible work ethic. Eegee's has gone downhill so badly over the years. It's a shame. No wonder so many are closing permanently. I was so excited and it turned out to be so disappointing. I thought this was the last good location and clearly that is not the case.

It took 4 employees standing around and 10 minutes to make a half a turkey sandwich. The sandwich was good, bread fresh, decent amount of lettuce/pickles/tomato. I would stop again if I had a bunch of time but for a quick lunch while at work-- I'd likely go elsewhere.
