Nomico is an interesting place, from the name to their tag line, 'healthy dessert,' to the no frills interior. I walked in to an almost empty shop. There are some tables where you can sit and enjoy your treats and there are some board games you can play, unless you just happened to bring your own games. There are two TVs on the wall, but they weren't on and they still had their safety stickers on them. Anyhow, there's a small sign on the counter instructing you to order at the kiosk. You don't interact with anyone that works here until your order is done and brought out to you. I've been on a matcha kick, so I tried their matcha mille crepe cake and a kiwi green tea drink. The drink tasted more floral to me, I don't know if there was rose water or elderflower sweetening in it, but the kiwi flavor was subtle. The mille crepe was ok. I felt the dusting of matcha on top was too much, giving the cake bitterness. I removed the top most layer and enjoyed the rest of the cake. One thing that I unexpectedly enjoyed, was feeling the fork slice through each crepe layer. I think I had more fun eating the cake instead of enjoying its matcha creaminess. I'm not sure why Nomico claims healthy dessert - maybe they wanted to be contradictory? I felt weird being there, like they were supposed to be closed, but I ordered food and drink anyway. read more

Stopped by Nomico Desserts with friends, and while the menu looked promising, the experience didn't quite deliver. Two friends got boba drinks--one Thai tea and one milk tea--and both were disappointed by the boba, which was very hard and undercooked. The Thai tea also lacked its signature flavor, tasting more like watered-down sugar than the bold, creamy tea you'd expect. I tried the brown sugar raindrop cake, which had potential. The brown sugar syrup was nice, but the raindrop itself had an unexpected lemony flavor that didn't really pair well with the syrup--an odd combo that threw off the balance of the dessert. However the texture of the raindrop was good and similar to ones I've had in Japan. While the presentation was cute, the flavors didn't quite live up to expectations. read more

Nomico is a cool spot for anyone looking to try a new and different kind of dessert. Highly recommend the crepe cakes, we got one of each flavor and every person liked a different one- the matcha is by far the most unique though, the chocolate kind of reminds me of a coffee tiramisu (?) They're light and fluffy and full of flavor but can quickly become heavy and sweet so it's good to share a slice. The egg puffs are also like eggy waffles/very crepe like but with the toppings are absolutely scrumptious! and the ice cream on there was *chefs kiss* You order at the Kiosk and they'll bring your food out to you, it's a smaller shop but they have board games and books for you to read on the side! They had a couple of books and games in the corner that you could play while you waited/ate. Cute little shop . Came here to try the raindrop cake. It was interesting. No real taste, kind of a Jell-O texture. And they give you a topping to put on top. We chose the grapefruit. I didn't love it, but it was an interesting experience. We also had the house bowl that was delicious! We did a grass jelly base with mango toppings. They had 10 different kinds of tiramisu to choose from. And a variety of drinks. I think Nomico and I might have different definitions of "healthy" but the dessert we ordered was tasty. The staff was friendly and recommended the bubble waffle with ice cream. The crepe cake also looked very tempting as well. The waffle looks like an edible pop it and we liked the contrast of the crunchy and chewy. The strawberries were a nice sour contrast to the sweet ice cream, chocolate syrup and the waffle. They also serve various boba drinks which looked pretty good. My wife described the decor as "as guy definitely did this". It wasn't bad just a little barren. But if you want to try some Asian style desserts this is a good place to check out. read more

Great place for milk tea or boba and sweet treats. Friendly staff. The ordering kiosk was usable on this visit, but I have used it many times before. The kiosk is great for people with order anxiety or other issues that make ordering with a person difficult. This visit, I ordered the large chocolate milk tea and a egg puff with Nutella and vanilla ice cream. The tea was perfect, as always. The egg puffs (I have also seen them called bubble waffles) are super tasty, but can be a little dry which is why I almost always add ice cream. I do miss the individual crepes filled with cream that they used to serve, but I understand having to streamline the menu. The location is cosy and very cute. The people running it are patient, friendly, and efficient. It's a great place for a quick snack or to get a boba fix. read more

Alright. I previously wrote a review about how this place ran out of everything if you go late. That's still true. Don't go late. I decided to give this place a second chance. This experience went much better. They actually had crepe mix and egg puff mix. My fiancee and I split the crepe cake and a strawberry egg puff. The crepe cake is basically layers of thin crepes with whip cream in between each layer and topped with either strawberry, matcha, or chocolate powder. I got chocolate. The strawberry egg puff has strawberries on top with whip cream and chocolate sauce. This is a very Hong Kong style dessert cafe. You can only find these things in Hong Kong. Places in mainland China don't sell these dessert items. We also both got boba. I'm glad I gave this place another chance. But my advice is go early!!!! read more

Probably not THAT healthy, but it was delicious. After having dinner somewhere else the wife and I split a "Traditional" and it was perfect. Loved the bubble waffle, a good balance of crispy and squishy. We were a little thrown off by the place being empty and just using the touch screen to order but I've heard that this is a trend so it wasn't a deal breaker. They had board games and cards in the corner (Twister? You do you) and we helped ourselves to a deck of cards and played a few rounds of Speed while waiting. It was clean and the music made it fun. Thai tea is solid though I don't think I've ever had a bad Thai tea. Mango milk was good if you're craving something on the sweeter side and like mangoes. I tried the mango crepe which was simple but delicious: mangoes and whipped cream in a crepe. It's definitely a lighter dish, however, and a bit on the pricier side for what you get. Otherwise, I chose the build your own, I'll break it down by components: - grass jelly as the base: a solid option. If you've never tried grass jelly, it has a slightly herbal flavor but it's not super noticeable in my opinion with the toppings - sweet sticky rice as the base: it was hard, felt undercooked, and I wondered if I was supposed to have heated it up first. Nothing indicated I should and now that I think about it, 81 cafe next door probably sourced their mango sticky rice from here since it looked and tasted similar (down to the negative texture). I would not order the sticky rice again in the future. - taro balls: good, soft without a strong flavor. They don't give you much though - red beans: I wasn't too much of a fan because it felt a little grainy rather than smooth (as it usually is in pastries elsewhere). Would not order again - coconut jelly: doesn't taste like coconut, I'm pretty sure its just that it's made from coconut water (if I recall, it's nata de Coco? If you felt like googling it). I'm a huge fan of this in general and don't really like coconut. It's a nice chewy jelly -mangoes: it was ripe enough the two times I got it as a topping, no major issues Overall, not a bad place to try some Asian style desserts and drinks. I am so happy I found this place! I'm from San Diego so I came from a place of asian dessert galore to Tucson. This is the only asian dessert place in Tucson (I've seen so far) that has the variety of asian dessert it does. The atmosphere is super kawaii with a lot of tables and restrooms available. There aren't any outlets so it's not an ideal study location but the dessert is great! The portions are perfect, they're not huge but they're not too small either. Service was great, dessert came out quickly.
