long time Hamptons bays residents. have been many times and never a great experience... but have continued to go back to support small business. tonight my 5 year old dropped his ice cream because he tripped on their stair. He was hysterically crying. I offered him my different flavor gelato but he didn't want it. the owner, who saw it happen, instead of caring, came out of the shop and wiped up the ice cream and said "there all clean" and didn't care or offer him another ice cream. He only cared about my child moving out of the way to accommodate the moving line. Cute little gelato shop right off the highway that satisfy the need for something cold on a sunny day. The owner was originally from Jackson Heights, where one of my friends with me is currently living. He and the server were both quite friendly. Three of us enjoyed their product over the weekend and felt that it was good, but melted a bit too easily, which made it messy to eat. This place was a let down. After driving by Gemelli and never stopping in multiple summers in a row, I finally made it a point to come here just to find that what they're serving is not gelato. It's overly sweet and the consistency isn't what traditional gelato should be. That said, it's still good. But is it $6.75 for a small cup good? Wait on a long line good? Cash only good? No, it's not. The ambiance of this place is really nice. It's all outdoors on a giant long with seating and games to play, so a great place to take the kids and let them run around after hopping them up with sugar. I don't have kids ...but can only guess this is what you'd do with them. It's kind of a shame that we don't have any other ice cream spots available in the immediate area, but I'd drive to Snowflake and brave that line over this place any day. read more

When it comes to gelato places, I'm really not sure who are the dominant players in the Hamptons. Even if I missed a couple of places, it was 8:30pm already when we decided to get some and wouldn't have given us time to get to before they closed for the night. But on Montauk Hwy in Hampton Bays, this was just a 10 minute drive from our hotel. Gemelli Gelato has a sprawling space. And talk about social distancing protocols- Adirondack chairs were set up in two's on the lawn more than 6' apart! Additionally, picnics tables on the perimeter were also spaced out accordingly. We happily popped the trunk instead- just because I can't see anybody wiping down all those chairs. Gemelli Gelato has their shop a bit away from the parking lot, so I hoofed it a bit. The owner was helpful but rushed us folks on the line too. Granted it was almost closing time. Plus he had asked me and other folks if we preordered and I nodded 'no'. The shop is clean, small and he was just letting one person in- or a family at a time. AND there was only one scooper girl- so can you imagine her scooping out "gelato" to a family of 4 let's say??? Got a small Vanilla topped with walnuts for hubs and a small strawberry for me topped with Chocolate sprinkles. Damage for those? $12- too much in my opinion. I'm not surprised if food coloring and "strawberry" artificial flavoring was added. I know what natural strawberry ice cream, gelato, heck...even a Mexican strawberry "paleta" tastes like- and THIS wasn't it! On top of that, hubs said his vanilla had the texture of frozen milk! Am I missing something because this place tops the charts here? Not sure- but this isn't what I call great gelato. read more

Excellent! We've been here twice and both times we had absolutely delicious gelato. It tasted magnificent. I had the Chocolate Marshmallow Chip today and my husband had the Coconut. The service was superb. We had to wait outside for a few minutes due to the new safety regulations and one guy let us know the wait wouldn't be too long. Once inside the guys behind the counter -- both wearing masks as appropriate -- were so friendly and helpful. I appreciate businesses that are being extra hygienic and careful during these times. Had to stop by now that it's summer, this is one of our favorite spots! I love how they are taking extra measures to make sure we are all safe during these uncertain times, by limiting access to people by enforcing social distancing. It's nice to see the workers constantly cleaning and sanitizing. My husband got the "Chocolate elephant" amaze balls. It has peanut butter ice cream with chewy brownies and chocolate chips, yummy! I went with the "The lemon sorbet" which is so refreshing on a really hot day like today. And the best part it's made with real lemons that they squeeze themselves! Something about fresh made just makes it taste that much better. My son got "blue berry basil". It has fresh blueberries and fresh basil Blueberry in a purée. Tonight we visited Gemelli Gelato. We live in Hampton Bay's and seer it all the time, they are next to Buckleys Inn, one of our favorites. We just saw Gemelli's featured on News 12 East end and figured that it estas time for a visit. You arrive at the location where they have their oversized gellato cones on the front lawn. You walk up a long path to their quaint little structure with outside seating only. Their are lawn games to play for the kids as well. Inside, they are all staff with a young and happy crew ready to greet you and help you decide which selections are right for you. They have small spoons for tastings. We both ordered the caramel and pretzel gellati....awesome and I your mind with the sicilian cannoli gellato which as great! I will make it a point to visit there often. read more

Really cute place. It's oddly situated on the backend of a huge open yard/park in the middle of town. The building itself is quite small. I can see how it might be easy to miss, but I'm happy we saw it. There's a good amount of flavors of ice cream for such a small place. I gravitated towards the chocolate marshmallow chip after my tasting. Ended up loving it so much. Rich chocolate ice cream with a marshmallow or chocolate chip in every bite. Also tried the espresso chip and the rum raisin. Both great as well. They have delicious looking brownies, cookies, and chocolate covered fruit too that I wish I had tried. The man that helped us was very friendly. I'm pretty sure he was the owner. I showed him that we checked in through yelp to get the free water with a purchase of 20 bucks or more and he didn't even know about the offer but gave it to us anyway. I'm really not sure how this place has such great reviews. When going to a gelato place you expect the flavors to be rich and have quality ingredients, but I can say that I found the gelato to be far from that. I got the chocolate with marshmallows and chips as well as the strawberry and both flavors tasted so bland. The chocolate was not rich and the marshmallows they used were the mini ones in the bag as compared to melted marshmallow and the chocolate was mini chocolate chips rather than chocolate chip chunks. The strawberry also just didn't have a strong strawberry flavor. It almost tasted like vanilla ice cream with a little strawberry flavoring. My husband did like the black cherry though. Oh and they only take cash and it was $20 for 1 cup and 1Red velvet cone. read more

Yum! A fantastic gelato and friendly service- I had two scoops, each different flavors-- one hazelnut and one espresso chip. The hazelnut was delightful and I'd gladly go back for more, but couldn't quite taste the espresso chip as strong as I would have hoped.
