Either the detailers (Mel & Eli stole the table or they didn't correctly do thier job and check the car like they are supposed to when it gets returned) or it was stolen by Danny (manager on the next day and person trying to gaslight me every time i called in the morning and then multiple times during the day following up & also there when i showed up in person, really he is an all around horrible un empathic lying individual) or Cam and Bry stole it when I dropped off the car the night before. Drove the car approximately 6 miles total back and forth to my friend's house on 8/4 car was in a hotel parking lot overnight. On 8/5 car would not start. Check engine lights, battery and oil all lit up on dashboard. Called customer service, tow truck could not come for 2 hours. They had NO REPLACEMENT car available for me. The closest available car they could offer was in Newark Airport. I had to forfeit the $88 I paid to transport the car on the Bridgeport ferry. Even after I explained that I had to be at a memorial for my father they were essentially like "oh well" they also declined to refund my car rental for the day I had no car. So I had to spend over $300 total for Ubers to get me to the service and back. And then when I got home, I discovered that they EXTENDED my rental (the one that broke down) and charged an additional $1400 to my credit card despite the fact that their tow truck took the car at 11:53 on 8/5 and the car was in my possession for 25 hours TOTAL. I have disputed all charges with my cc and have filed a complaint with the BBB. Do not use this company under any circumstances.

When I made the reservation online, it neglected to inform me that the office closed at 4 p.m. When I arrived at the pick-up time, no one was there, and there were no cars available with any car-hire agencies anywhere near New Haven. This cost me an (expensive) last-minute downtown New Haven hotel and a train ticket the next day. Bummer. Adding insult to injury, Budget charged me a $50 no-show fee. When I contacted customer support explaining the situation, they reassured me they'd process a refund if I submitted an online request in writing. Did that. Received inconsistent information in email exchange over a two-week period (Gmail reminds me I exchanged emails on March 21, 25, 27, 28, 31, and April 2, 7, and 8), culminating with "even though we already have your credit card number, to refund the erroneous charge, actually we need you to call and sit on hold to give the number over the phone." When I eventually talked through the situation with someone on the phone April 7th and gave my credit card number again, he promised the refund would show up within 3-5 business days. I left on another trip. Why am I writing this review in August? I'm going through my statements for the first half of 2026 and noticed the $50 refund NEVER WENT THROUGH. (Budget: if you're reading this, the ticket number is 79935337 and it's still open). And to cap everything off, now Budget has made me feel like a petty crank writing a one-star Yelp review. (But I've poured so much time chasing a $50 refund at this point, I guess that is the late-stage capitalism hill I'm going to die on.) Mistakes happen--the origin of this seems like an oversight in the online reservation system, not the customer service team doing anything malicious--but you gotta try to fix mistakes when they do happen... not run your customers around in circles and then promise that you've refunded them when you haven't.

They told me to call back in an hour. Uh. Is this the business practice there? What if customers are late? We called the Budget service and they told us to go to a nearby station -- paid for the taxi on our own to the Union Station one. They drove us back to this place. The discount promised was not honored. Returned the car two days later, got charged for some 10 minutes or so late. They said it's not my fault but I can call the Budget service. Don't go here. Avoid it. I would go with Enterprise from now on.

They then told me they could give me a better price, which they did. 4 days before my move I called them to verify my reservation and they couldnt find the new one, only the old one and that person said they couldnt honer the price the other guy had given me. So I call a third time and get the lower price, confirmed. They dont allow you to park your car in the lot. They tell you they dont have a keydrop location, but my girlfriend called and after talking for like 10 minutes they said we could return it to the Ikea drop off location (they run the same one) So why in the hell wouldnt they offer that as an option in the first place? Two weeks after I returned the truck to Ikea, they call me asking me when I was returning the truck! After some searching, they found out it WAS there and then proceeded to just ask me when I returned it. Now im in a battle to get them to fax me a copy of the receipt and they say its going to take two days because all the paperwork is taken elsewhere. How hard is it to print the receipt and just fax it? These people are incompetent.
