The crew on our ship was phenomenal! The captain did a great job getting us to the whales. The ship mates kept our beverages filled and made sure everyone had what they needed. The highlight was our zoologist (young lady from Poland). She was knowledgeable and informative on whale behavior and other information on habitat, habits and migration patterns. Best snorkel trip ever! Took the Gemini morning Xpress west Maui snorting tour. In my experience the Molokini is too crowded with people and too little sea life to see.. Small group on a family owned catamaran made for a great adventure! We sailed from Kaanapali beach to Kapalua bay and saw numerous and varied fish and FIVE turtles! The staff was courteous and mindful of our safety and enjoyment. Mahalo to the entire crew and photographer. read more

This was our second time aboard the Gemini and there is a reason we went back. The boat itself is very clean and maintained. If you're considering booking a snorkel trip in Ka'anapali stop searching and book with Gemini. We did the afternoon (11-3) trip in early April and it could not have been a better experience. What made the trip so great was every member of the crew was top shelf. Every person we interacted with was extremely friendly with a fun, positive attitude and ready to help, chat, answer questions, etc... The trip itself was great too but ultimately what set Gemini apart from other companies we've done similar trips with was the crew. The trip could not have been more fun. We sailed from the beach in front of the Westin to a cove in front of the Olowalu turn off from the main highway. the crew had snacks out once we were underway and non-alcoholic drinks were always available. The captain will choose from a few locations based on the conditions and the snorkeling was really good for getting there in the afternoon, especially because many of us got to see a turtle! The crew was super helpful getting everyone equipment (including a float belt for our younger daughter) and making sure everyone was comfortable. Once in the water everyone was free to come back at any point and the open bar started once you turned in your snorkel equipment. The deck was open for lounging and we could jump off the front of the boat into the water. We had about an hour available to snorkel which gave everyone plenty of time to get their fish fix in! Once back on the boat, lunch was served (teriyaki chicken thighs, quinoa rice pilaf, hummus and veggies, chips, etc...) and was delicious. The open bar was great with mai tais and other liquor drinks (I think bacardi rum and grey goose vodka were the two options) along with an assortment of beers, wines and seltzers and plenty of non-alcoholic options as well. The crew was more than helpful with food and drinks and were walking around the deck asking if they could bring anyone a drink when they weren't working on something else. We also got to do some whale watching on the sail back and saw maybe 5-6 Humpback whales, getting close to a few where we got to see some tails/flukes! Again, I can't say enough about how much fun we had and our group of 8 all agreed it was both well worth the money and we'd happily do another tour with Gemini! Thank you Gemini crew! read more

So much better than anticipated. We took this trip in 2022. We booked this charter as something fun and different to do on our vacation. The boat was clean and beautiful. Service was absolutely amazing - everyone was very nice and welcoming. Most importantly and unexpected, the food they served was absolutely delicious - seriously some of the best food we had the entire trip. Unlike some others, this charter is privately owned by locals. They make the food and organize everything themselves and do a phenomenal job. All my friends that went on this charter agreed we have to do this again on our next trip. We did a last minute whale watch trip and it was great!! The ship is on the smaller side and the staff is wonderful. We saw plenty of whales (and babies!) while having nice snacks and plenty of drinks. They beach board but it seems like they can get closer to the beach than others as I barely got wet at all. This company let us know as we walked up/arrived it was cancelled. There was a confirmation that morning with a cancellation 57 min later as we walked up. There are no other times available the whole rest of the week. I understand cancelling if it's bad weather but the sky is blue with light winds. Yes a refund was given but my suspicion is they cancelled due to low guest numbers or some other reason and it was huge bummer to our kids due to no other alternative solution. I've been on a lot of whale-watching excursions in my 65 years, starting with elementary school field trips in San Diego and many while vacationing all over the world. This sunset trip was the BEST EVER! On most you might get lucky and spot a couple. Here, we got a full on performance. Right off the bat, we saw a mom and calf, with the calf repeatedly flipping out of the water very near to the boat. Then the captain headed further out and spotted a group of whales, and for the next hour 3 males performed an aggressive mating ritual while the female surveilled nearby. At one point, they were literally underneath our boat. The crew was very informative and knowledgable. I will definitely take this tour again. Go Gemini! read more

Was great snorkeling. And we saw a few whales way ahead of season. The downside was they wasted time there. This was a snorkeling trip for $500, not a whale watching trip. Lunch was meh. Drinks were a plenty. But only got 90 minutes of snorkeling and they were calling us back to the boat. Then they hauled back to beach. Had they done that on the way there I'd highly recommend it. We did live the beautiful clear waters where you could free dive to the bottom near the turtles and tons of beautiful fish and even an octopus . But $500 for 2 people for 90 minutes was too expensive. Maybe look for a tour that doesn't include food etc and just takes you to dive. Guess we learned. But by boat is the only way to get to the good snorkeling. And the photographer with them was awesome. We of course bought the whole package. $80. Worth that! Thanks for the tour! read more

Excellent operation! After watching the other charters loading up, I already knew I made the right choice before I even got my feet wet. I booked a sunset sail for 2, which included drinks.....both leaded and unleaded, and appetizers (which was surprisingly more like a light meal). We were fortunate enough to even see whales, which have all but left the area, heading to Alaska. The 3 person crew were very knowledgeable, engaging, and just downright likeable! I've been on a lot of boat tours for both snorkel, sunset and whale watch. The staff on the Gemini were the most down to earth and knowledgeable I've ever encountered. The perfect way to explore the seas of Maui! Rich, Drew, and Andrew were such an awesome crew and so accommodating. It was a smooth sail for the most part but got choppy when we were in the deep blue (due to wind). The crew checks up on every guest and even offered me some ginger chews to help with my seasickness. Went on a snorkeling trip with Gemini and had a great time. They made the beach loading super easy and there was plenty of room on the boat for everyone. We saw at least 4-5 groups of humpback whales, with a couple of mom-baby pairs on the way to the snorkel location. While snorkeling, we saw so many turtles and even a couple of small reef sharks! The on-board photographer was also great-she took some amazing photos both on the boat and underwater. Would definitely sail with Gemini again on a return trip! read more
