This experience is a MUST!!! We went out today with Gavin and the rest of the gang today and it was amazing! The boat ride to the reef was relaxing. Once we arrived, we were able to snorkel right away. We spent about an hour in the water and saw turtles, tons of fish and sand sharks (harmless). After snorkeling , we had a delicious lunch (pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw, coconut shrimp, quinoa salad, and delicious pineapple. The "Gavin a good time" drink was delicious! After this amazing lunch, we had the option to spend another half hour in the water. Then, we went out to look for a couple whales on our way back to the beach. We spotted a mama with her baby! Such an added "bonus" since it's a little late for whales! I highly recommend this experience if you're visiting Maui and want to get the best value for your money! read more

Just a warning if you book online; the advertised price is not the final price. On checkout we were informed of a $10 per person "fuel surcharge." Of the many companies offering catamaran snorkeling excursions, we selected Teralani because it departed from the beach one resort over from where we were staying and included a hot lunch. The day before our scheduled trip I received a text to check my email. It was notification that due to beach conditions the departure would not be from the beach in Ka'anapali, rather from Lahaina Harbor, needing to drive there. That was fine with us as the boarding from a pier as opposed to a wet boarding would be easier. The harbor is right in front of the destroyed Front Street area. It is still a demolition and construction zone so we had to be escorted to the boat. Again, due to weather conditions, the snorkeling spots were adjusted. We first headed west where lots of humpback whales were active while fresh fruit and muffins and croissants were available. We had a 45 minute snorkeling stop at a location called 5x5 (I think that's the name). The water was a bit murky. Then more sailing around, looking for whales, and eating lunch of burgers (included Beyond Meat), hot dogs, or chicken along with a pasta salad and a green salad. Those that were not snorkeling again could take advantage of the open bar, which would remain open until we docked. Then to snorkeling location #2, back close to Lahaina Harbor near the remains of an old pier. This location was great. We had 1 hour to view a large number of sea turtles swimming around. Then out again to look for whales. As we headed out we came across a large pod of spinner dolphins, many jumping out and spinning. Dessert of a chocolate cookie was then served. Then back to the harbor for a 2:30 debarkation. I do wonder what the schedule is when it's not whale season? Is more time spent at the snorkeling spots? We had a great time. Word of warning, make sure you wear sun screen or keep covered. We both ended up with sunburns from just a short time uncovered. read more

Our Teralani 4 Sunset Sail out of Whaler's Village in Maui this February, was absolutely amazing -- fun from start to finish! The sunset was stunning, and the whale watching was magnificent -- we honestly lost count of how many whales we saw! The music was perfect, the vibe was relaxed and joyful, and there were plenty of delicious cocktail and mocktail options for everyone (adults and teens alike). The food was such a wonderful surprise -- everything was fresh and delicious! From coconut shrimp and Hawaiian meatballs to cheese and crackers, fresh veggies, and more -- it was way beyond what we expected on a sunset sail. The crew truly made the evening spectacular. Captain Taner was fantastic, our whale expert was so knowledgeable, and the lovely young lady keeping the cocktails flowing kept everyone smiling. We booked the Premier Snorkel Sail, and it was one of the best experiences we had in Maui. The tour was from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM (checked in at 9:00 AM), and the full 5-hour trip was absolutely worth the price of around $169.95. This adventure included a tropical breakfast, a chef-inspired BBQ lunch, and a free open bar with Hawaiian beers, wine, and Mai Tais. We visited two snorkeling spots--one near the mother twig area and the other at an artificial reef. Both were stunning, and we got to see turtles, fish, and beautiful coral. The food cooked by Julia was incredible--fresh, flavorful, and honestly some of the best food we had on the island. But the highlight of the entire trip was Deyha. She was the true star--kind, genuine, humble, and so empowering. She remembered everyone's names, checked in on us constantly, and made sure we felt safe and comfortable. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does. Our captain, Nicole, was amazing as well--professional, friendly, and reassuring. If you don't know how to swim, they provide floats and teach you exactly what to do. I was really hesitant to get into the water, but Desa encouraged me, and it turned into one of the best decisions of my life. The boat was extremely clean--the bathrooms, eating area, and cleaning stations were spotless. The overall vibe on board was positive, friendly, and safe. The only small downside was that the ticket seller advertised it as a whale-watching + snorkeling tour, but once on the boat, we learned it was mainly a snorkeling tour, and they would only stop for whales if spotted. Still, the crew more than made up for it with their exceptional service. We did the morning Premier Snorkel Sail, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Maui. The food and drinks were on par and not only did we get to see a bunch of sea turtles but we were fortunate enough to be taken on an extra adventure and spotted a mother whale and her calf. February is known to be peak whale season in Maui and being able to witness it firsthand was a magical experience. The crew are all incredible, super friendly, and attentive with a vast amount of knowledge. Learning about the fun facts was quite entertaining in between whale spotting. The captain took us to multiple spots and it was a breathtakingly beautiful experience and wonderful way to get the morning started. Went out on the first trip at 7:30 am which I enjoyed because the sun wasn't too harsh at this time. The crew passed out water and had snacks on board, I had some pineapple and muffin. The meeting spot was towards the water on the beachwalk, close to the hut where you can rent gear such as snorkels, fins, & boards. It's close to Kāʻanapali Beach Resort. They check you in and you do a beach loading onto the catamaran. There are plenty of spots to sit or stand and it was a good group of people. Got to experience both close and far spotting, one whale came really close and we got to see it swim under the water and come up to spout. Loved being able to watch them in their natural element, doing turns, breaching, and playing. Can't thank the wonderful and lovely staff enough! I did the Whale Watch experience but Teralani does offer other options such as snorkeling adventures and sunset cruises. read more

Very good crew on board. The captain, Mario, especially was funny. Didn't agree or appreciate evolution of humpbacks he brought up but did enjoy his love and fascination with them. The food was just ok. Too big of bun for the burger. Beer was good. I was disappointed in the lack of fish we saw. Did enjoy the turtle I saw though, so majestic. Everyone who works for Teralani is so friendly and knowledgeable. They make their sails extraordinary. We've done several sails with them including whale, both sunset sails, and now the 5 hour snorkel sail where we saw lots of playful dolphins, a couple of mama whales with their calves even at the tail end of the season, and got to swim with turtles. Plus the food and drinks were delicious and the boat itself is great. So worth it every time. read more

Teralani 4 I met Captain Rod hanging out in Maui Brewing and I have to say, he's a great ambassador for Teralani. So, my wife and I booked sunset dinner cruise for the next night. Dessa was an awesome 'Mother Hen' for our group of about 45. She got us all prepared as we checked in, with a great attitude and sense of humor. As we boarded, she and Isreal did their best to get us loaded and staying as dry as possible. On board, Capitain Tanner was friendly, comfortable and welcoming, and together, this crew of three did a fantastic job. Dessa and Israel never stopped moving, working the sail rigging, serving drinks and food, and making sure all of our needs were met. Pretty outstanding! Music was great, sailing was so fun and food was surprisingly good. Drinks were the biggest disappointment, for us. Only 2 cocktails were offered, a mai tai and a vodka thing. This whiskey drinker wasn't thrilled. Points off. Some bad white wine and beer and soft drinks offered, too. Overall, a great experience that I'd recommend and would do again. read more

The names of a couple kind ladies escape me. They were also extremely kind and helpful. Shortly after boarding Jacob ran through the perfunctory Coast Guard mandated information for the excursion. After that the chase was on! lol. We saw lots of whales. Even a few calves. The staff onboard was a book of knowledge and it was so beautiful to hear so much about the majestic creatures. Overall, good experience. We picked this snorkel adventure because it was close to our hotel and it was only 4 hours so it wouldn't take up a big chunk of the day. Everything went smoothly, with great communication from the crew. Tanner, Elena, Kelly and Jake all did a great job with the organization, the food and the drinks. Food was good and well prepared. Yep...they did it...a well deserved five stars. To start with they are close to Kāʻanapali so easy to get to if you are staying at one of the resorts there. They seemed to be affiliated with Outrigger so have an agreement to use the Outrigger parking garage for only $8 which had plenty of easy parking. We were on the Teralani 5 (sailing catamaran) with Captain Patrick. Hotel valet directed us on where to go. Check-In was super easy and then we did a beach boarding near the Outrigger. Once on board the crew took care of us like VIPs. Started by getting everyone a cup of water to stay hydrated, nice touch, then handing out equipment to anyone who needed it. Motored away from the beach while the Captain gave his briefing. The captain seems to be on Aloha time because his 2 minute briefing is not 2 minutes...hehe...anyway... Continental breakfast was the usual breads & fruit & juice & Starbucks coffee. Well, Starbucks wasn't usual. Our sail had two stops (captain's choice) both beautiful locations. Snorkeled the first location then motored to the other. BBQ lunch and snorkel at the second location. They opened the gate on the second deck for brave souls (like my grandson and me) to jump into the ocean. So much fun. On the way back to the beach they put up a sail and sat on the front net and enjoyed the quiet, wind powered (no motor) trip back. Had a first day crew member (Phillip) who seemed to go out of his way to make us feel like ohana. I think he chose a good boat to work on. A cool bonus (which had nothing to do with the planning or the boat) was we happened upon a pod of about 40 or so spinner dolphins. They swam next to, then crossed in front of us several times and a couple rode the bow wake at about 10-12 knots for several minutes. You can't plan things like that, just lucky. Okay the snorkel trip was pretty much like most others, good communication, good safety procedures, professional captain & crew and a nice boat. The difference on the Teralani 5 was the culture. They treated their guests and each other like ohana and VIPs. The culture seemed to be "welcome to our boat and how may we take best care of you." Food, service, Open Bar, questions, whatever we can do for you we will. Everything was included once you were onboard. (Photos from the professional photographer were optional at a reasonable price.) All boats go to basically the same locations, but what sets the Teralani 5 apart is the crew and how they put forth the extra effort towards their guests. We will certainly work to get onboard with them again next year when we return. read more

Teralani 5 today almost ran us over while we were on the beach at the cabana at the Maui eldorado. They had to yell at us to get out of the way. Then they anchored the boat to our private cabana. Hooked up to our hose water. While tethered to our hose water the "captain" which i can tell didnt know what they were doing. Pulled out from the shore with the hose attached and broke the water piping for our cabana. Teralani please do better and find better ways to find water than almost running over people and breaking infrastructure. I dont know the laws 100 % out here but I can almost guarantee you this was not a permitted move. read more

What an awesome experience! This was definitely a highlight of our trip. This was recommended to me by somebody I know. I checked out the pricing and would recommend folks to get the cocktail cruise option, not the dinner one. The cocktail options comes with unlimited drinks and small bites, which were delicious! Lots of small bites options. The pricing is so worth it for all that! We did this end of April, which was when whale season ended. We got to see a mother and kid whales while we were on the boat! Also some dolphins. You check in at the kiosk near the shopping plaza with other hotels. They check everybody in and everybody boards the boat on the beach. FYI, the waves were pretty strong so make sure you wear something that you don't mind getting wet. Once we boarded we got seated and off we go. The 3 crew members were fun and amazing, they kept making sure we had enough drinks on hand. I forgot the name of the crew members, I believe the guy checking us in was James. Overall such an awesome and fun experience, I'd recommend folks to try it out! read more

Captain Mario and the entire crew were fantastic. Connor made some tasty drinks and had some great facts about the whales and sea life. Evan was a on point as lifeguard and Quinten made some tasty food on the grill. The snorkeling itself was probably a 3/5 experience but to no fault of Teralani. The conditions just weren't ideal for snorkeling. It was so windy and the recent storms made it so we could only go to one snorkel reef. It was a beautiful reef and had a decent amount of wild life but it was somewhat chilly waters and the waves kept crashing into us making it hard to enjoy the snorkeling for more than 30-45 min. Once done, we went whale watching, drank mai tais, and sun bathed. Captain Mario was great with the kids, even letting some sit with him up in the captains chair. Shout out to Kelly taking some great photos too! All in all, awesome experience that could only have been better by factors out of the crews control read more

Very fun, friendly and knowledgable crew. The first swim stop had a great variety of fish, urchins and coral. Some also saw turtles. Great experience. Downside, the pitch on the "steps" to get back on the boat require some strong muscles because it appears to be 15 inches or higher. I had to have crew help getting back on the boat because at 70+ and two fake knees I didn't have the ability without help. I elected not to do the second dive for that reason. Plus side, we could see fish and turtles right from the boat so those who don't dive/swim can still enjoy. Awesome! Would recommend for those athletic types. read more

I live on Maui and when my family and friends visit, an excursion on Teralani is a must! I took friends out yesterday and Roland, Gaven, Conor and Captain Matt did not disappoint. It was a windy day and they still found two great spots to snorkel at, provided a yummy bbq lunch and made sure us guests had a wonderful trip. They are super friendly and helpful while maintaining a safe environment. Nicky, the photographer, captured some awesome moments on film (above and under water) and my friends were excited to buy pictures. I apreciated her being willing to photograph what ever anyone needed, in fact she perked up when someone would ask for specific pictures. She was so kind and even made conversation before the sail even started. I felt like she truly cared whether your photos came out nice and truly compared to the pictures that were taken of me and my spouse on a cruise last year to these? I bought these so fast and could totally see the value of it. She made the trip so worth it to me to have beautiful pictures of me and my BF as we typically travel alone and don't have anyone to help us take a picture ABSOLUTELY best food of my trip so far, I finished my entire plate and kicked myself for not asking for more. The crew was so kind and informative. Drinks were great, connections from crew to passengers was really amazing. If they had something in common with you they were quick to take time to indulge with you over it. They gave amazing location info right as you began to ask others around you what island they thought it was. Very intuitive to everyone's needs. After 1 trip out it definitely felt like this may be what I want to do for the rest of the trip!! 10/5 stars all around!!!
