The lady that does the waxing is always on point with everything and on time. The spa side is the place to be. The salon side is alright I guess. I've gone to several Aveda salons and this one is more like a higher priced Cost Cutters. I enjoyed 2 very relaxing treatments. Lots of attention made to general massage (light rubbing). However, the older woman that works the front desk is a little prickly. The facial room is very dusty. And overall it wasn't like a pampered luxurious experience; there was a man eating a sandwich and watching his ipad in his office with the door wide ope. Weird. The women folding towels in the massage room with the door open were very loud. No coffee or snacks. Just kinda meh as far as a "spa" experience is concerned in my opinion. The pedicure looks bad. I should have reviewed years ago. I have moved again and realize how I rely on these reviews as I search for a new stylist. Hillary was my stylist for years until I moved in 2019. I miss her. She is friendly, skilled, communicates well, and listens to her client. If I knew what I wanted for cut and color, she gave me that, and usually better than my vision. If I was unsure, she would offer options, and I was always happy. When I had to come back to town for a funeral, 2 months after moving, she found a way to fit me in on short notice. I stop in for regular specialty appointments every couple of years. It goes well for a few months, I book future appointments, then they lose a service provider and cancel a standing appointment last minute. I know what you're thinking- "Senor, maybe it's you?" But no, I can assure you, it's them. I tip well, I'm polite and conversational when spoken to and know to be quiet when the situation calls for it. I can read a room. Their trend is, after 2-3 scheduled services, I always get a call that a service provider has left the spa and someone else will have to help me at my next appointment. A few years ago it was their esthetician for wax services. My fellow beach goers understand what particular service this is. Most recently, I was due for my next massage. After I confirmed it was no problem to have another therapist days prior and then confirmed again via automated text message, I called a few hours before I was due in to inquire who I would be with. They said they tried to call me earlier to reschedule because no one "was willing to stay late" (it was a 6pm appt). When I asked how soon they could see me, the response was and audible sigh and "well, we're booked up really far out..." As though I was asking for the world or special treatment. It was disappointing to be treated as the problem after they failed to have someone scheduled for a service I booked a month earlier. Such a shame they can't honor commitments to their customers. read more

I've been going to this salon for over 10 years, my first experience was when I was 16. I've been having Hilary cut and style my hair and I can honestly say she is the best. Not only does she give me an incredible cut every time, but she gives me tips and advice on how to keep my hair healthy between trims. I don't feel like enough time was scheduled for my appointment considering the wait time for processing was longer than I've experienced and also considering the shampoo girl had to apply color toner to my hair while my stylist worked on someone else. I've lived close to Gemini for almost seven years and have been using them the entire time. I must admit that though I'm a super girly-girl, I absolutely HATE getting my hair cut. Something about sitting there with a wet head, looking like Zippy the Pinhead, as you have to keep yourself from staring at your mug in the mirror is just awful to me. So, having a salon where I can get a fairly impromptu appointment is great for me. My usual haircut decision is made on a whim and if I can't get in quickly, I usually have to wait until the next itch strikes me. I like that with all Gemini stylists, when I say I'd jjst like a trim, I dont walk out with THEIR idea of a trim (anywhere from four - six inches ... and these are women ... they don't have to overestimate for their ego, yanno?) ::: wink wink ::: Some might think that the fact you can get in quickly is a bad thing, meaning that the salon doesn't merit enough business to have to wait. I've been in the salon during both busy and slow tikes, so I definitely don't think that is necessarily true. Their prices are definitely reasonable, even for their top stylists. I'm usually surprised when I check out that my service isn't more expensive. Stylists have always been very friendly and warm and not overly talkative or pushy with product sales - a nice balance. They do have great customer appreciation events occasionally - that's a nice touch too! read more

I first went to Gemini (salon) after an horrific haircut elsewhere. The cut with which I walked in was uneven, far too short and even had a bit of a rat tail off the back. My mother scheduled me an appointment a day in advance and when I went in the stylist immediately sympathized with my situation and asked what it was about the haircut I didn't like. (Elsewhere, stylists asked why I didn't like the cut as it was so cute.) She washed and dried my hair, gave me three different ways to style it, offered to cut that nasty rat tail and backed off when I said I just didn't want scissors near my head for a while. She did a wonderful job for an amazingly reasonable price. Since that time, about two years ago, I have gone to no other spa, have had my hair cut probably four times and died another once or twice. I only go in every four months or so and still, she remembers me, my hair and my style....and she listens. This seems to be true of most if not all of their employees, I have never had a problem and neither has anyone else I know... ...I highly recommend this. Although more expensive than places like costcutters or supercuts, it's absolutely worth it when you look at the service, versatility and the product with which you walk out. read more

I love that I can get a rock star hair cut in an Aveda Salon for under $30! I used to live in Chicago and when I moved to K town was so happy to find Hillary my stylist, and she is seriously VERY good! I Have also gotten a couple of massages here, and they were good too! I like the fact that they started out washing my feet in a pretty bowl- it sounds strange, but feels really good, and gets you in the mood to relax. A few things to note* when they are washing your hair during a cut or color, you can take a free paraffin wax dip for your hands, they give a small discount if you pay in cash (probably because of those heft credit card fee that are avoided) and they have complementary tea, and cookies in the waiting area. I got a hair cut from Hillary and she did not listen to what I said I wanted. It was my first time seeing her and I had pics from pinterest as well. I have long, thick, blond hair. I wanted soft layers, framed in the front and most importantly I wanted to keep my hair long. She cut off 4-5 inches and gave me choppy layers. My hair looks shredded. I'm posting this for my wife....she loved the services she received, but didn't care for the lack of professionalism she experienced with the staff. As she went there for a relaxing spa experience, she recieved wonderful services in a beautiful setting topped off by caddy women trash talking co-workers, incessant gossiping, a person spending their entire time with her trash talking her husband, a stylist trying to badger her into switching salons and another too busy talking about all her family problems that made it virtually impossible to relax and simply enjoy the spa experience. The first few times I went I loved the place. But just as others have commented the service quickly diminished as did the quality of service. I get the same hair color everytime and am a fan of a very natural look. My hair did not hold the color and I was booked with another girl because mine was too busy to retouch it before my wedding. My blonde/brown hair turned out red :( They refused to fix it before the wedding day. I discovered this place a few months ago and have been going ever since! There's a few things about this salon that I absolutely LOVE! 1) They are open on Sundays -- which in Kenosha is very rare to have a salon open on Sundays and 2) If you pay with cash you get a discount on the services! 3) They are an Aveda Salon and the products they use are amazing. If you haven't tried Aveda products I'd highly recommend them as well. This place is awesome! My engagement photo shoot was in Kenosha on a Sunday and I found this salon on Yelp that was open on Sundays, based on the reviews I decided to book an appointment for hair and make-up. The stylists were very professional and the results were great! Since I will be relocating to Kenosha soon, I decided to go to Allie as my stylist. She is great and really takes her time with you! I love Gemini Salon and Spa. First because there's no drama among the stylists--they all get along and clients can move freely from one to another without any hard feelings. Second, their Aveda products are superb, and management has a few sales during the year so clients can save on products and services. Color is dead-on correct; cuts are too. The spa in the back is relaxing, and their massage therapists do fantastic work. Overall, this is a pretty salon which warmly welcomes its customers and has no attitude. Cheryl was my massage therapist before I moved to Seattle, and I keep trying to convince her to move out to the West Coast! All friendly people work here. so relaxing I have had a custom facial (I'm pregnant) brazilian (one of the few places I found that actually do these in the area) and haircuts and highlights. I have had all great experiences. From the minute you walk in regardless of who is providing your service you are made to feel welcome. I cannot agree with the other reviewers. My experience was not good. I was there a week ago for the first time for a haircut; the stylist was pleasant enough, but when she washed my hair she put two applications of conditioner on it (which I did NOT ask for) before she cut it. She then cut it and loaded it up with more conditioner from a jar before drying it. She proceeded to style it just the opposite of the way I said I wanted it. I told her that and she said "I think it looks cute this way." Excuse me........I want it MY way not YOURS! Since I had lots of errands to do I just let it go, but by the time I got to my next stop my hair was completely flat, so weighted down by that conditioning stuff that I looked like a rag doll. The cost was far beyond the $23.00+ they post on their website; be prepared to spend about $10.00 more. I was not happy, considering the style didn't last 10 minutes after I left their shop and I had to wash my hair to get all that weighty conditioner out when I got home and restyle my hair, so I could go out that evening. It is a ripoff; I should have been able to forget about my hair that whole afternoon, having had it "professionally" done......blow dry and "style" is just another way to jack up the price! Never again; I guess I'll keep looking for a good salon that doesn't charge so much when you don't get what you pay for. read more

Do NOT come here for your wedding!!! The only reason I gave two stars instead on one is because Carla, the stylist, is awesome. However, if you plan on booking for your wedding with a group, go somewhere else! The wedding coordinator is THE rudest woman I have ever encountered. I was a bridesmaid in a group of seven of us. We were not impressed. First off, they took 2 girls to do their hair first and didn't offer a place for the rest of us to sit. Half of the bridal party scheduled to get their makeup done with the makeup artists, including the bride. The bride had scheduled weeks in advance for me to get my makeup done as well but I had called a couple days after she made the appointment, asking if they had the right kind of primer for my face, which they didn't, so I canceled my makeup session. Apparently, whoever I talked to on the phone did not cancel my appointment, so they told me I had to either have it done or pay half of the cost. I talked to four different people, telling them I called far in advance canceling my appointment. The wedding coordinator told me she couldn't recall talking to me so I had to pay even if I wasn't going to get my makeup done. I was livid. Secondly, the makeup artist arrived 30 minutes late for the first bridesmaid's makeup so everything was completely off schedule, making us rush back to the hotel to get ready. They didn't apologize or anything. They are THE MOST unorganized company I have ever dealt with. Do NOT come here for your wedding!! read more
