Great location, relaxing ambiance while getting your hair done. Went for a first time appointment with Mariela as my stylist and she did a great job on my hair cut! She listened to everything I wanted and was meticulous; checking along the way that everything was looking how I wanted it to. The online booking process was quick and easy; perfect for an introvert. The products used smelled great and made my hair look beautiful but there was no pressure or big sales pitch to push me to buy anything extra which I appreciated. Just moved to Kenosha from San Diego and am looking for a salon.. Carly was super great with my hair. I have been wanting to just chop my hair really short due to a lot of fried ends. She had a cancelation, and I was able to get right in with her on a Friday. Super sweet she noticed that my scalp was dry and did a sea salt scrub and really took the time to show me how to style my hair and what products she used. Highly recommend this place! read more

I arrived through the back parking lot entrance and made my way through a few hairdo sessions to the front desk. A smiley gal with a sling offered me coffee, tea, or juice. Taking a seat for a minute or 2 I thumbed through a couple of the latest glam magz. Then my hairdresser arrived. At her station we talked about my hair and what I was looking for in a cut. She asked questions, took her time and made sure we were on the same page. My shampooing experience was great with yummy smelling Aveda products - and included a relaxing scalp massage. The cut turned out pretty good - about 90% what I envisioned but I think I'm still getting used to it. The stylist was wonderful and made a few adjustments after the cut. She even spent extra time with me teaching me how to duplicate the look on my own - so helpful! I also got an eyebrow wax at the last minute, and she didn't hesitate to accommodate me. I told her I wanted them 'a little fancy, but natural' and that's exactly what I got. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone looking to spend a lovely afternoon sprucing up. Wanted two Brazilian waxes, one male and one female, only to find that they don't do male brazilians because they are "too difficult". NOWHERE on their website was it stated that they were not inclusive in their waxing services or any of their services. Very disappointed with the customer service. We brought our little one to the salon for her back to school haircut and we had Megan. She was amazing and did an incredible job on our daughters hair. What I loved about Megan is that she actually listened to us and cut our daughters hair to our exact request. So many hair stylist will do whatever they want and not listen to the customer. It was so cute to watch her little hands griping the chair. I have the pictures of her nails digging in to the chair and can't wait to show her when she gets older. This location is amazing. It is an old house that has been converted into a salon and a spa. They did an incredible job on the conversion. I was debating on making a review. But after visiting back home and everyone asking what happened to my hair, I got emotional and decided this can't happen to someone else. I went to PATTY to get a long, modern bob. With MINIMAL LONG layers. The first picture is me before, the second is what I wanted and the last 3 are what I got. I told her how I grew my hair out for two years because the previous salon (Ruth at Neroli salon and spa in Milwaukee) burned off my hair after bleaching my hair. I told her I was just ready for a fresh start and was wanting to cut all the damaged hair off. She took it literally and butchered my hair, giving me a total chop job. I was in a rush to get home and didn't notice the damage until after I got home. I did call, and they offered to fix it. The manager did try and feather the layers out to soften the harsh edges but explained I would have to grow it out. AGAIN! That's hard to hear after I had just gotten done growing it out for 2 years because some else had messed it up. Although they were nice, and hair does grow back...that doesn't fix the fact I have to walk around with choppy hideous hair for the next several months. This could have been avoided if I wasn't rescheduled 3 times. I originally had an appointment with the owner, but then they called and said she was sick so I was rescheduled with the manager. Yikes... I don't want to do this but given that my service was such an intimate one I feel must. THIS WAS THE WORST WAX EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. Ouch. Today I had a Brazilian wax done at Moda Bella Salon and Spa. I walked in and the building was lovely so I thought to myself oh this is going to be awesome! Nope. I am so unhappy and uncomfortable. I know I'm aware bikini waxes are usually pretty uncomfortable...it has nothing to do with pain or awkwardness; it's the fact I have to publicize it so no one else has this experience. Ughhh wtf!! I'm not going to name my esthetician that is wack but I told her I always have a landing strip and asked if she could do one. She reassured me she was able to do this for me. Sweet, I didn't feel it was too much to ask as it's a pretty common request. Especially from an almost '5 star salon&spa' I've had many waxes/Brazilian waxes in my day not only that I studied aesthetics so I was thrown off by why is my esthetician 1. COVERING HER LIGHTING/LAMP?! Standing right in front of my light. 2. Why she's reaching from the opposite side the table to dip her wax? Dripping it all over my inner thigh. Are you serious?! OUCH. Yeah I have had this specific service done many times...it does not matter, every single time the service provider counts down on the first strip. She did not. Yep I'm good. Not really. Even if I am experienced... I was a new client to her!! Last but not least, why in the fuck if I asked for a landing strip...why? WHY would my esthetician be waxing off hair directly in the middle of my lady bits..THAT IS WHERE IT GOES! I have a landing strip on the left side of my vagina!! I am so embarrassed!! I am so upset. I leave a landing strip because I do not prefer to LOOK LIKE A LITTLE GIRL. I am a woman not a child now I have no choice!! Thank you Moda Bella!! So let me start off saying I have aimlessly bounced from one salon to the next never feeling quite at home like the feel I had with my place I had 200 miles away UNTIL last night!!! Moda Bella was so inviting! So quaint and charming in not only the decor but just as they welcome you. I had no idea what to expect from my stylist as I had no referral to her I just randomly picked this place and I was randomly placed with Amanda. I showed her a picture and she went to work. It came out perfectly!!! She even upsold me with a pedicure IN A PEFECT CHAIR while my hair processed.It worked out perfectly! Next was my waxing session with Lacey. Lacey was meticulous! Brows, under arms and the dreaded yet so beneficial Brazilian! Being plus size is already some what of a challenge when you are getting used to someone being all up in your business let alone finding a comfortable position. NOT a problem for Lacey though she made me feel right at home and so comfortable. I run a plus size group with over 2500 people in it locally to the region I will be telling them all! I literally haven't touched my hair on over 2.5 years. A mixture of not making time to and having no idea where to go since we moved here two years ago. I've never had a great experience with highlights. I always as for caramel highlights and always end up with blonde highlights which I don't care for. After reading the great reviews I scheduled with Amanda and she was FANTASTIC! I am completely in love with my cut and color. I've never had bayalage before but am in love. I booked a birthday treat for myself, a haircut and style with Sean. He's been cutting hair for 20 years, and all of that expertise really comes through. I have long hair and like lots of layers and a certain kind of shaping. A lot of stylists are kind of so-so with knowing what to do with long hair, but Sean is one of those rare stylists who is a whiz with it. He even knew how to do flat-iron curling, which was something I was starting to think I'd dreamt up. I used to have a stylist in NY who would flat-iron curl my hair and it results in such beautiful curls. Well, for years, back in Kenosha I couldn't find a stylist who knew how. Sean not only recommended we flat-iron curl my hair, to my shock that he knew what it was, but the curls he produced were even prettier than the ones I used to get in NY. Five stars. I took my 4 y/o daughter in for her first trip to a 'real' beauty salon. Ana and Amanda did our hair, then Amanda did her nails. They were so nice. They took their time to make us both feel beautiful and special. When I was paying, my daughter kept asking what different things were, and Amanda gave her a tour, and showed her the different services they offer. We will absolutely be back! After two unpleasant experiences at another Kenosha Salon, I searched Google for a new shop. I came to Moda Bella because of their ratings. They are well deserved. I arrived for my first appointment with Lacey for eyebrow wax. She was professional, really took her time (and my eyebrows have never looked better). But she was also very personable and we carried on conversation so easily that I felt like we were old friends. Next I saw Amanda for my haircut. I told her the stories of my last two mediocre haircuts, she listened. Yes listened to what I wanted for a style and she nailed it. I love this cut! We talked like old friends too, she is so much fun, she's professional, warm, also very personable, and works hair like art. She knows what she is doing! When I was finished I made a comment that now I need to go put on some makeup. I had told her earlier how I wasn't doing much for myself in the looks department lately. She stated she would be right back and returned with a very beautiful young lady named Kamiya. Amanda asked if I needed to be anywhere or if I had time for a complimentary mini makeover with Kamiya. Heck yes I did! Kamiya too was very professional, talented, and personable. She listened to my concerns with my aging skin. She showed me ways to open up my eyes, and create a "lift" if you will (as i am mid fifties). I was so impressed with Kamiya's work that I bought two items of makeup, and will definitely return with an appointment with her for a full skin care and then again for a full makeup lesson with the intention of buying more. There was a small gathering in the waiting area as I was paying and getting ready to leave. All of the ladies coming to see how I looked, and complimenting it all. I walked out feeling better than I have in years. These ladies are very talented, very personable and warm. It is an experience we all need at times. Keep up the good work. I will be back in March for my next appointment with Amanada and I really look forward to it. I will also be seeing Lacey on a regular basis and will make likely two appointments with Kamiya. I can't give you more than 5 stars, but would if I could. Yes customer service and customer appreciation is very important! Other shops can cut your hair and take your money. The salon is in a house, but the layout is very tastefully done so the interior looks upscale and inviting. The atmosphere was very relaxing when I came here (in the early afternoon on a weekday). I was offered something to drink immediately while I waited for my stylist. Jordan cut my hair and she did a nice job giving me exactly what I had asked for. The cut is clean and even. She was very personable and soothing to work with. A highlight of the experience was actually her shampooing skills, which sounds silly, but she was noticeably better than many other salons I've been to who just scrub you and wash as fast as possible. The cut was $30, which I found fair for the quality. I was quoted $47 for the master stylist, which may have been fair (it certainly is in Chicago), however the master stylists do not have any of their qualifications listed on the site. I would have been much more comfortable paying that much if they had listed the extent of their experience and their specialties. Instead there is just a Q&A section. I was in town for a wedding and this is where we were all having our hair and makeup done. Having short hair, I opted to do my own but had my makeup done by Tracy. She was super friendly and asked me what I was looking for and how I normally do my own makeup. I was a little leery about having someone else apply my makeup but it was flawless, and not awkward at all. After the application, I was looking at myself in the mirror, and noticed that one eyelid had more shadow, whether or not I rubbed it off unintentionally I couldn't be sure but I went back down to inquire about fixing it. Tracy was already involved with another client and the girl up front assured me it looked fine and was probably in my head. We all agreed it wasn't and instead of making a thing of it I just adding some of my own makeup when I left. The atmosphere is warm and everyone was friendly enough, I did not find anyone to be rude or snobby like mentioned in another review. I would say that I think the pricing was a little high for a makeup application versus the cost at MAC and other places but they do use quality products like Aveda and really, it was for a special occasion so it didn't upset my wallet much. I wish I had thought to bring along my own lipstick so I wouldn't have fallen for the one that applied and felt compelled to buy it, but hey, life is short! read more

First time here and was not disappointed. I am fairly new to the area and have been searching for the right Aveda salon for several months. The waiting area is warm and welcoming. I was greeted right away and offered something to drink while I waited for my stylist, Rose. Rose was a gem, she listened to what I wanted and was very attentive the entire time. She made sure I was comfortable at every step. I had a full foil highlight and cut, and am very pleased with the results. I also had a quick nail polish change with Brandy (I think that's her name, I apologize if that's not correct) and she was great as well. She was very friendly and informative and my nails look great. The salon has a well stocked product area, where I picked up shampoo and conditioner. I made a follow-up appointment with Rose before I left - looking forward to seeing her again! If I had to find a downside, the only thing I can think of is the parking situation. The parking lot is located in the rear of the building and is well marked just a bit cramped. I drive a larger vehicle and it took a bit to get situated. Not a big issue, just something I noticed. This is going to be a very unusual review, as I have been there twice, but have yet to get a haircut. I went there a month ago to donate my hair that I had grown out for a year and a half. Emily, the hair stylist I assigned myself to, proceeded to cut the pony tails for donation. Then she took me to the back and did a really nice shampooing and conditioning. She then took me to her station and proceeded to start the cut. Well, she found the dreaded beastie-bugs in my hair (I am a teacher of very young children and contracted them that way). Anyhow, she had to discontinue my haircut, for which I had already paid online when I booked the appointment. Fast forward to August 1, 2018...I once again had a haircut appointment. I got Emily again. She sat me down in the chair in her station and asked me how things were with the dreaded beastie-bugs. I told her they were eliminated. Well, she took a look at my head and, while there were no dreaded beastie-bugs, she still found nits, albeit, dead ones. I had been clear for at least 2 weeks of anything live, but Emily once again wouldn't give me a haircut. However, the reason I am giving them 4 stars is because Emily went out of her way to give me the name of a place that can fix my nit problem AND she refunded my money. So, this is why I give them 4 stars. When I am completely clear, I intend to try them again because the salon looks really nice and the people seem friendly enough. I had my eyebrows and a hair cut done at Moda Bella today. I had a very positive experience. When I walked in, I was told to take a seat while the receptionist went to get Sarah, who was going to work on my eyebrows. It was my first time there, so Sarah gave me the tour of the upstairs spa where my eyebrows were going to be worked on. The spa was very nicely equipped and there were separate rooms for pedicures, manicures and make-up, massages, and waxing. Everything was new and looked very nice. My eyebrows didn't take very long (I was only getting them cleaned up), but Sarah was very nice and made some nice conversation while she worked on my eyebrows. Then came my hair, which was going to be done on the main floor. I had my hair washed, trimmed, and blow dried and straightened. While the hairdresser (Jordan) washed my hair, she gave me a scalp massage (a big plus!). I had told Jordan that I wanted to keep my hair as long as possible, but that I might have to have some cut off because of split ends. She did a very good job with that: my hair is still long, but the split ends are gone. She did a very nice job blow drying and straightening my hair. Not only were the pedicure stations spacious and comfortable but the STAFF!! Let you tell you something, they have a special team working there. So kind and accommodating. Put me right at ease, Abby was great. It's rare to find such non judge mental, funny, relaxed and skilled salon and spa staff. What a treat to be here today. The parking is excellent too. Moda Bella is close to where I work and I know multiple people who have recommended it so I wanted to try it. I made a last minute appointment with Angie today because my last haircut at a different salon was a bit of a disaster. I showed up early because I was in a time crunch and she was able to start right away. We had a decent discussion about what I liked and didn't like about my current cut and what I wanted to have done. She listened to what I said and I really feel like she knew what I wanted. She then got right to work! The shampoo was so relaxing, I wanted to fall asleep right then and there! This was my first visit to Moda Bella and before I left I had already made my next appt! The salon is gorgeous and everyone is so knowledgeable, professional and welcoming. My appt was with Angie P and she is extremely talented and professional. She took the time to find out exactly what I wanted and accomplished it perfectly! She also went above and beyond on a very busy day and cheerfully gave me a desperately needed cut even though I was on her appt book as color only and I was so grateful! Some time back I faced an experience that shook my world. My stylist moved to Colorado. I didn't really think much of it, figuring I'd meet a new hair magician to commit my tresses too. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. What followed was a series of off-color dye jobs and crooked haircuts forcing me to slink out of the salon to never look back. I took more walks of shame than Amy Schumer at Spring Break. Anyway, I I'd passed Moda Bella Salon and Spa a million times. I read a few reviews and called for an appointment with Sean. He was booked; so I scheduled with Aimee. My appointment was for a color and cut. While I'm not a diva over my hair, I was very hopeful it would turn out. I was becoming complacent and my hair was looking a little Muppet-y. Aimee closely listened and was on-point with suggestions. My scalp is actually very tender. But as it turned out, I didn't even have to mention this to her. She combed very carefully and always asked if the clip was too tight or she was pulling too hard. When it was time to rinse, we moved to the shampoo bowls. The room felt like heaven with blue-white walls and a shimmery chandelier. It's like sitting in nice relaxing clouds. I was treated to a pain-free rinse and calming scalp massage. Between that and the music, I nearly fell asleep. Aimee was thoughtful to start the water at a luke-warm temp and adjust according to my preference. I didn't walk out feeling like a boiled tomato. Aimee offered ideas during my cut that would work with my hair type (fine with wave), level of commitment to styling, and face shape. I already felt she was more than competent and I gave the suggestions the green-light. She cut some very long layers, framed my face and took off some weight in the back. I decided to wait until my hair was completed to take a look. When the chair spun around I was truly stunned. I don't easily excite, but it was the first time I've loved my hair in 7 years. My hair rarely turns out as I'd hoped. This truly exceeded my expectations. I purchased a few items and Aimee graciously gifted me small bottle of shampoo, as she'd been running a few minutes behind. Hi, I had purchased several products from your hair care line that the stylist I was seeing reassured me that there was no silicones and sulfates in your products out of trust I took her word and purchased several items. Well there's definitely silicones in your products. I had a severe allergic reaction on my scalp my scalp was red my skin was raised hot and itching I had to go to my doctor To be seen and was put on medication! I am really disappointed in the fact that you trust the Word of your stylist/ professional to guide you in the right direction but instead be lied to because she's being forced to up sales products to meet a Quota! Several hundreds of dollars spent in product plus the added cost of medical bills later I call to make an appt with my aesthetician and there reprimanding me, asking to put my debit card on file because of an appointment I canceled because of the lack of trust I have with your salon! I'm not bashing any of your stylist's in fact they're always very nice to me, what I am saying is it's unfortunate that they work in a uncomfortable setting because they're being pressured to up sale products ! I'm not assuming you do not pressure them I'm telling you that I know you are, there should be no reason your stylists are talking about how you're on them about selling product or the fact that you didn't go to beauty or aesthetician schools so you don't understand the pressure they're under. I don't blame her for making a mistake People make mistakes while under pressure. As far as all the time and research aveda put into there products I never questioned nor did I mention anything about gluten! Please let me address my three cancellations the first cancellation was due to your stylist having the receptionist call me because she was ill and was leaving early but then an hour later decided she was going to stay sorry, I had already made other plans! So the first time in reality when I canceled was do to the lack of trust and how sensitive my scalp was at the time, you wrote that I didn't give you 24hr notice it was only about 12 hrs but definitely enough time to fill the slot but still that was not the rules and I do apologize for that. Now the 3rd cancellation was not with a stylist and I definitely take responsibility for that I did only give about 13hr notice and I have no problem paying that cancellation fee. Let's get one thing straight I never expect anyone on this planet to work for free! I pay good money for the services provided by your salon and I tip well just so we're very clear on that! As far as me just now trying to get in contact with you about the whole situation ; I did not try my products until I had already used my existing products up first. It really saddens me that you couldn't put your pride to the side and reach out to speak to me personally to resolve this situation, especially after I expressed I wasn't able to reach you via your web site now I understand why my stylist made that mistake! People make mistakes when they're in fear of not being good enough! I go to Moda Bella for waxing done by Lacey, and she is amazing! She is so incredibly sweet, caring, and great at her job! I have gone to her a handful of times and always continue to go back. The inside of the salon is so cute and every staff member is kind and welcoming. I have gone to many different salons and spas throughout the country for waxing, and Moda Bella is by far my favorite. This is the only salon/spa I will go to. HIGHLY recommend!! read more

Having recently moved to Wisconsin, I used YELP to help me find a salon. With their good reviews, I made an appointment for a hair color/cut and was scheduled with Justine. Lucky me! First off, it's located in a beautiful old house (100+ years old?) that's retained its charm, though it's been converted into a lovely salon. I was greeted by the receptionist and offered water, coffee, or tea. With lots of personal struggles going on in my life that are out of my control, I am kind of an emotional wreck, and my hair has not been a priority. This was the place to come. I was pampered with a hand massage while my color processed, a scalp massage during the hair conditioning, and a hot towel wrap after my shampoo (with the lights dimmed and calming music quietly playing in the background) - very relaxing. Justine was kind, friendly, and she gave me several local restaurant suggestions. AND yes, she asked lots of questions, listened, and gave recommendations for my hair color and cut. Truthfully it was a bit pricey for me, but I left two hours later feeling refreshed and looking 100% better than when I walked in! New to town and needed to find a new stylist.....turned to yelp and Moda Bella was the only salon with all five stars so I gave it a go. My stylist, Megan, was attentive and listened to my hair woes. She was skilled and outgoing but not annoyingly chatty. The salon itself is beautiful, an old converted home turned salon. Badass. Aveda products, so you know good things are going on your dome.
