I had a 90-minute prenatal massage with Mikayla at 34 weeks pregnant, and it was exactly what I needed. I only wish I had booked one sooner! I've been dealing with significant hip pain during pregnancy, and I noticed a huge improvement afterward. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and knew exactly how to address the areas that needed the most work. Mikayla was incredibly friendly before and after my appointment while remaining professional throughout. I also really appreciated that she didn't feel the need to carry on conversation during the massage, allowing me to fully relax and enjoy the experience. My last visit to Ruffalo's Salon was two years ago, and I was extremely disappointed then for the exact same reason I am again now. The stylist at that time clearly lacked experience with short hair, leaving me with a choppy haircut and noticeable bald spots. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again during my recent visit. I was told I was booked with a "KNOWLEDGABLE Level Three Stylist," but my experience did not reflect that level of professionalism or skill. I even showed a reference picture of exactly what I wanted, so there should not have been any confusion. Instead of acknowledging the issue or apologizing for the poor result, there was no accountability taken at all. Despite being very upset, I remained calm and still paid for a haircut that looks nothing like what I requested,just to avoid a scandal in a public place. I am beyond frustrated and digusted that Ruffalo's continues to hire stylists who do not seem properly experienced or trained, especially for short hairstyles. At this point, there is no possible way to fix what was done to my hair. I expect a full refund for this service. I've never written a Yelp review before, but I feel obligated to share my experience because wedding days are serious business. I will premise this by saying that none of us are from the Kenosha area or had ever heard of Ruffolo's before. Two stylists came out to the venue, and looking at the website after the fact, we may have gotten two of their most inexperienced people. FOR A WEDDING. (Like, the website says one of them is still training!) I had the one apparently still in training, and it was by far the worst professional hairstyling I've ever gotten. Whatever texturizing spray was used made my hair look like a dull, dry mess. (One of the other bridesmaids actually asked if I have coarse hair...I very much do not.) When raising concerns, we kept being reassured our curls would last...they definitely didn't, even after most of us asking for second go-rounds with the curling iron and extra hairspray before the stylists left. One flower girl's hair was almost completely straight before the ceremony, and the other's constantly needed extra bobby pins because pieces kept coming loose from her braid/bun. And this was before we had to do photos outside on a windy, damp day. (Thank god the updos for the bride and one of the mothers fared a little better, or it would've been a real nightmare.) If you're offering professional wedding styling, you should have the knowledge/experience and products to not only make hair look great, but to make the styles last! Obviously curls are going to fall a bit over time and you may have some weather-induced flyaways, but good stylists account for some of that by making curls tighter than they need to be and using appropriate product. I have never had issues like this before, to the point where I wished I would've just washed and straightened my hair and thrown in a braid myself. Plus there was a mandatory 20% tip on top of the price! So I paid $102 for a bridesmaid style and $72 each for flower girls! If you're considering using Ruffolo's for a wedding, I'd urge you to go elsewhere or at the very least make sure you're getting experienced stylists. It's a real drag not feeling your best and being worried about your hair on a special, once-in-a-lifetime day. (And spending that much money on it to boot.) read more

I went in for a cut and color and was very disappointed with the results. My hair looks boring, blah. For as much as it costs, I expected my hair to look like I just left a salon. Instead it looks like I used boxed hair dye. There's no dimension, no shine. I was hopeful because I had heard good things but now my hair just looks like someone poured flat brown paint on it. This is actually zero stars, not one. My husband just called me on his way home from here, saying he was going to have to shave his head because his hair turned out so horribly. Was his "stylist" wearing a blindfold? And by the way, the cut is not at all what he asked for, and ALSO - were they using just a dry razor on his neck? My daughter's and my stylist moved so we had to find new ones. I chose Kristin W. and am very pleased with my cut. My sixteen year old chose Allison and went home in tears. First, never did she have her in her chair to discuss what she'd like until after someone else washed her hair. She told her she'd like it trimmed with about 3-4 inches removed, basically what she currently had but freshened up. Next thing you know six to seven inches are gone and I about died. Nothing to what she had. Maybe if she took the time to sit her in her chair as a first time client and discuss what she liked/didn't like, could see her thickness and texture she might've gotten a cut to fit her. My first visit I was not completely satisfied with the experience and originally left a detailed review. I had set my expectations of the salon and stylist to the place I've been going to. However, the manager contacted me and I agreed to give them another try for two reasons. One, her contacting me showed they care about their reputation and are willing to correct any issues. Two, I believe in second chances and it was my first time ever trying a salon in Kenosha after many years of going to the same place which is now a good drive away. I had Vanessa the second time and she listened, asked questions and walked me through the process as she went along. Along with some music/movie trivia. This time I went for a hair cut and color (it was an all or nothing type of day), which she did great. I did have to go back after a week for some toner and tips on the new hair style which she did very happily and I am extremely satisfied with. Honest review. Not happy with my hair. I had blonde balayage with dark roots before going to this salon and I wanted to go darker - brown dimensional balayage however my hair turns out with brown highlights (base of my hair) on my dark/natural roots and ashy colored ends. The balayage didn't look good at all that I had to go there again for revision. Still, not satisfied with my hair. I'm going to just color my own hair this weekend and try to cover up my current hair sitch. It just sucks cause I've had balayage hair with my natural hair roots for more than 3 yrs now and expected to maintain it, until I tried to go to this salon. I have been coming here for a few years and will forever be loyal to Amber. I have curly hair. She has cut my hair short several times to above shoulder length. I was always scared to do this and didn't want to come out looking like Shirley temple. She is great at working with curly hair and I love the short hair cut which turned out great every time. Four of us came in for hair and make up for a family wedding. Everyone came out looking like a movie star. I had a lady named Amanda do both my hair and make up. She did an amazing job. She did my hair how I wanted it to the very last detail. My make up was flawless. I bought a lipstick to take back with me. I am glad I did. Great color. My skin looked amazing. It turned out to be very windy that day and my hair stayed put. I got so many compliments on my hair. I wish I lived here so I could continue to come to this hair salon. Let me sstart outt by saying that my first experience was awesome. From setting the appointment, my consultation and my appointment. The gal that did my hair left a couple of days after my appointment and the salon reached out to accommodate me. They understood my need to have a consultation prior to an appointment and scheduling was ok. My consultation was a mess. My request was to be matched with a stylist who was engaging, confident, artistic and assertive. The stylist was none of those things. That's ok. I loved the concept of the salon and thought I'd call and restate my wants and see if tHeres a better match. Imagine mmy shock when the gal answering the phone literally told me to go somewhere else. Not, let's see if wee can find a better match for you, but go somewhere else. Now, I'm relatively certain that the salon owner would have much preferred to gain another client but maybe I'm wrong. My recommendation? Avoid this salon. Customer service is clearly not a priority and if they treat potential clients that poorly imagine how they treat others. I would NOT recommend this salon for any of your wedding needs. Being new to Wisconsin I had to ask around about salons to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding (Labor Day weekend). A few people I know recommended Ruffolos so I decided to book through them for myself and my bridesmaids and do a trial run. They had to scramble to even get any of their stylists to come in the morning of my wedding which was a Sunday. How sad. Unfortunately I got stuck with not very talented ladies. I went into my trial day so excited, ready to look like a bride and anxious for my big day. Instead I walked out with a lump in my throats and tears in my eyes. To start, the lady doing my makeup was nice, don't get me wrong, but I showed her a picture of exactly how I wanted my hair... a huge loose braid on the side and a loose bun in the back with curls coming out. Nothing tight or "updoey". Well I got the exact opposite. She gave me a very tight small braid and a tight updo. She then told me how she would do it differently "the day of". Umm how am I supposed to trust that it will turn out the day of? How she let me leave her chair with my hair like that is beyond me. Next up was makeup. And let me tell you the lady who was doing my makeup was doing an updo right next to me when I was getting mine done. Super simple- hair down two fish tail braids that came down with some babies breathe. So I told this gal and showed her pictures of how I wanted my makeup. Super dramatic contour, shimmery gold eye, blinding highlight, and full lashes. I'm no makeup artist but I am pretty advanced when it comes to doing my own makeup. This girl had no idea what contouring and highlighting was. They had no shimmery eyeshadows. The lashes she put on me she charged $20 and they are ardels that are sold in any drug store for less then $4!!!! WTF! I won't even get into the lip color we went over for like 15 minutes. Also, their makeup brushes were not even sanitized. (How disgusting) While doing my makeup she was telling me how she HATED doing updos and how the one she was doing was giving her anxiety. So at the end I finally was like no. This is absolutely not what I want. And the wedding consultant was sitting behind me trying to come up with a different solution but saying how beautiful I looked. Umm no. I looked horrible. So they said the girl doing my makeup would do hair and the girl doing hair would switch to makeup. Absolutely not. Makeup girl doesn't even like doing hair and hair girl didn't even have makeup on that day. How am I supposed to trust them on my wedding day with me and my bridesmaids? So they charged me full price, no solutions, and sent me out the door in tears. Immediately I called my mother in law and showed her pictures and she was pissed. I wrote an email to the bridal consultant explaining how disappointed I was. The owner called me back and explained I didn't have enough hair for the braid I wanted. Sorry, but that's BS lady. My hair is thick and reaches my lower back. I was even able to achieve the braid later after practice. At that point I was just so upset with all of them. If you can't achieve the looks just say it up front. Don't make me waste my money on something you don't know how to do. Super disappointed in their customer service, their stylists, and their over charging prices. I will never recommend this salon to anyone and will direct them far away from this place. read more

Customer service is not up to par especially if you have a complaint or several. I had a horrible experience with getting my first set of hair extensions. Once they were put in I was back repeatedly to have them fixed because they kept falling out. I found out from another hair extension professional that they weren't even the correct extensions for the hand tied method, they were too heavy, and too many rows were put in. 500 dollars later I have these worthless extensions to look at. Not to mention the hundreds I spent on color and having them moved up once. I recommended this salon to my niece for her wedding. She went for a bridal consultation and when she sent me the pictures of her hair and makeup I was embarrassed that I had sent her there. When I called to complain about all this, I was assured the manager would reach out. She never did. At a last attempt to have the salon redeem themselves, I sent my sister there for her wedding color and style. The color..... I could have done better at home and the style.....she literally looked like a blown dry poodle. I was mortified. I have to go back for a follow up microblading appointment and I'm dreading it. I called after work to get my hair done randomly. The receptionist answered polite and friendly. I asked if they had a stylist open for overall one color. She said they were booked but checked to see if anyone else was available. She said they had a stylist on call, Breanna. She placed me on hold and called to see if she could come in and do my color for me. The hairstylist agreed she would come in. Upon arriving I was greeted right away, asked if my jacket could be taken to hang, and offered any drink I'd like (Soda in the fridge, water, multiple tea options, and Keurig coffee). The place was bright, clean, and full of color! Very upbeat and chic! The other hairstylists greeted me and made sure I was taken care of as I was waiting for my hairstylist. Breanna came and met me in the front and greeted me with a friendly hello, shook my hand, and we were off to the chair! As I was sitting talking to her about the look I was going for I was a little torn between which color I wanted to do for my overall hair. She suggested I don't do the permanent color on my hair to protect it from being damaged since she noticed I had dry damaged ends from being bleached prior and wanted to protect my hair from further breakage and damage. Also, if I wanted to go lighter this would be a better option for me. She gave me my options for colors, styles, and asked if I needed any other services done. I asked if she was able to clean up my dead ends and she was glad to take care of them for me. She was extremely knowledgeable for the products and colors and made me feel confident in the color and look I chose to go with. She was patient and awesome to get along with! I didn't feel pressured, overwhelmed, or rushed! She took her time to discuss with me what my hair needed in order to get it healthier and gave suggestions on what would look good with my complexion. She refilled my hot tea when I was under the dryers and came to check on me every so often to make sure I was okay and asked if I needed anything. When washing my hair she knew I liked the Pureology line and listened that I wanted to try the hydrate collection. She used that on my hair and massaged my scalp with the conditioning process (super relaxing!). She cut, colored, and styled my hair the way I wanted it. I absolutely LOVED her work, the fact she wasn't pushy, was patient, and genuinely cared for my needs and wants! She is my new favorite hairstylist. Not only did she come in to take care of me she went above and beyond with her customer service to make me feel comfortable and valued as a customer! Any questions I had she answered them honestly and to the fullest. Love, love, love this place because of her!! I recommend Breanna as a hairstylist!!! She did a great job on my hair and I loved the atmosphere at Ruffalo's!!! The prices were reasonable for the cut, color, and style I did. Really disappointed with this place. They truly are just out for the money. Nothing they do is for "customer service." I they make a mistake or do something that you don't like they will not take the blame for it. They find a way to turn it around on the customer so they are not held responsible. I have spent tons of money on services with different stylists and I can honestly say I was not happy with anyone of them. They were either rude or just constantly trying to sell me something.
