I recently had Terell, Jordan and Griffin work several hours at my house to install a new connecting wire between my internal system and the outdoor power line. This was in response to my earlier calling GEN3, which a few years ago upgraded my electrical panel, because lights were flickering periodically in lighting units. (Spoiler alert: since the team did their work several days ago, there has been zero - NO - flickering!) In addition to rewiring and switching a couple circuits a previous (non-electrician) contractor had installed, which weren't optimal, they installed a high-capacity surge protection system and moved our meter to the outdoor front wall - to make it easier for the fire department or PECO to shut off our service - even if we aren't home-in the event of an electrical fire (hopefully made significantly less likely from work completed!) The service technicians were great - really professional, friendly, very competent and willing to explain what they were doing and why. At one point, there was some difficulty "pulling" the new wire to connect from the outdoor power line to the home's electrical system. Though it took a number of attempts (it must have been a very narrow opening), Terell maintained his can-do attitude and attitude so I only had a few moments of anxiety thinking it wasn't going to work. Each team member had a specialty and they all worked smoothly with each other. I got the impression they often work with each other on similar jobs. I emphasized when they arrived - and a couple times after - that I wanted the outdoor and indoor openings drilled for the new connection wire to be mortared cleanly, with no need for me to do any follow-up concrete work, which I've faced with several other non-GEN3 jobs recently. They did it PERFECTLY. (TYVM, guys!) The cost was high, more than I expected to pay when I finally broke down and called an electrician for flickering lights. But....it was comparable to the quote I got from another electrician I called in before contacting GEN-3 for a second opinion. Considering the significantly enhanced safety and modernity of our electrical system following this job, NO FLICKERING LIGHTS and the confidence I had in the technicians based on my exposure to them, tho I don't want to have to shell out any more big bucks on my electrical system any time soon, in this case I view it as money well-spent. read more

On several occasions, they've sent technicians that don't know what they're doing, causing me to have to schedule multiple appointments to get one thing fixed. Meanwhile, my tenants sweat out the heat or freeze in the cold for days. A few days ago, my 5-year old HVAC was still pumping out air, but it wasn't heating the apartment. GEN3 quoted me $1,300+ to replace the control board and limit switch. My contractor told to wait, "If the control board needs replacing, NOTHING should work." He went over the next day, cleaned the connectors, and turned on the heat, saving me $1,300! So, GEN3's quote was due to either gross incompetence or a blatant scam, neither is acceptable. Beware the bullshit! The next day, the heat did shut off again. But my contractor diagnosed it as a faulty thermostat, not a $1,300 control board replacement. Once we replaced the thermostat, everything worked fine. read more

Called on Gen3 for the second time, in an urgent situation. Last time it was the heat. This time it was the air conditiiner. They came through again. The pro who did the job, Cai, was on time, super courteous and respectful. He was also great at carefully explaining all of the options for getting my central air back in working order and ready for the season. Also, he explained everything he was going to do then showed me what he did afterwards. The amount of info he provided was impressive. Glad I called them again. read more

Gen3 quoted us $11000 for a boiler replacement. Three other companies quoted us $7700, $7500, and $5500. They prey on potential customers with their offers of financing and even tried to prevent us from shopping around with "kind" offers of scheduling a salesman over the weekend so we could have installation done on Monday. At the time I was desperate and overwhelmed. They didn't miss their opportunity to try to con us out of money. Please shop around and don't make the mistake we almost did. read more

They send inexperienced staff, usually only one person at a time to waste homeowners time. The electrician spent more time trying to give me an estimate for things I didn't want fixing. They are too expensive and the quality is not there. And I wanted to use them for my entire house electrical upgrade. read more

I had lighting fixtures installed in my basement today. Brandon Ho did a really great job. He made valuable recommendations, accompanied me (separate vehicles) to Home Depot to return the ones I bought that was not suitable and pick up the ones I needed. I added on the spot, the removal of broken light stems from two outside fixtures and he was able to do that really quickly. Brandon was pleasant, authentic and business like. Wow, do we regret hiring Gen3. Buyer beware. Hired them to fully rewire a large, old home. $60,000 to replace knob and tube behind plaster walls. Clearly their workers were in over their heads, the company isn't used to large projects, and they took advantage of us being out of state while the work happened. They stole several beautiful antique light fixtures that were original to the home. They didn't use drop cloths so workers crushed plaster into our 140-year old hardwood floors. They generally did sloppy work - outlets installed upside down in places, light fixtures re-hung far off-center in multiple rooms, unlabeled panels. The project was quoted at 2.5 weeks and took 6 - not because of challenges with the house but because they pulled guys off our project to work others (according to the workers themselves). As a result, our movers had to unload our stuff in the house before Gen3 was done. It was a mess. Then it was a huge hassle to get them to make things right. Gen3 essentially responded with a shrug. They claimed the stolen antique fixtures were "discarded", as if it were routine - but couldn't explain why the workers left a bunch of less-valuable newer fixtures piled in the house and only took the unique antique ones. It took dozens of calls to the office and walkthroughs with staff to get the work completed correctly and compensate us for the purchase of new fixtures. I would be very wary of hiring them for anything, let alone a large project or one for which aesthetics or tidiness matter. read more

I have used Gen 3 for many years. Today Will came out and replaced my wall mounted lights in front of my house. He did a thorough job. will made sure that both lights were working before he left. Will also cleaned up the area and took the crate with the empty boxes and bulbs inside my house for me. He offered to do it. Will also made sure I had the instructions in each box, as well. I really like the way the lights look on my wall. More importantly, I really like that I can trust Gen3 to do the work and do it right. Gen 3 sends out texts when the technician is close by. Will even called me too. I highly recommend Will and Gen 3. read more

Overall I was pleased with the work. Ed and his assistant rewired the house, except for the kitchen, which had been done a decade before. They asked for my input on where to put outlets and which lights to coordinate to wall switches. Ed answered my questions. They did the work within the scheduled number of days: six days. They cleaned up after working each day. I'd recommend this company and these workmen to others. read more

Technician Jeff Schwartz came out to evaluate work and cost of installing a new boiler heater answered any questions that I had to my satisfaction. He informed me of a substance the needed to be removed around the which I was unaware of, I appreciated that. However, upon my review there was another issue that was overlooked as well as it relates to the piping, but I do appreciate Jeff for pointing of the substance issue one the pipe that he could see.
