I literally never write reviews, and it's taken me too long to get around to writing this one, but if anyone deserves a great review it's Jeff Cook. Literally I had another bigger repair service that came out three times in the space of three weeks (at a cost of over 800) when my AC conked at the height of the summer heat wave and each time they somehow only repaired it enough to work for a few days before it died again. Finally, they told me my AC was unrepairable but they could replace it for 14K. Before pulling the trigger I called Jeff based on his yelp reviews. For 300 dollars he fixed it. When I told him what had happened with the other people he just said, "I'm not here to sell you anything, I'm just here to keep it running." I cannot recommend this repairman and his service enough. He is reliable, professional, knowledgeble and honest. We needed our HVAC system repaired. I got 2 estimates and both services told me the entire system had to be replaced- one for $12,000 and the other for $14,000. Jeff showed up and fixed the system (!) in about an hour for less than $500. We couldn't beleive it and he told us we could call him anytime and suggested a way to get some $ back from the manufacturer. We then had our refrigerator stop working and we calld Jeff- he showed up the same day and fixed the refrigerator for a few hundred dollars. Our AC stopped working in the middle of a heat wave, and so I reached out to a bunch of HVAC contractors through Yelp Messaging (great feature, by the way!). Most companies replied with a form letter thanking me for reaching out and asking me to call to discuss further, which was fine and expected. We had been able to fairly certainly isolate the issue on our own, which I mentioned in the message, and Jeff recommended some DIY options in his message, as well as letting me know the price if I decided to hire him and the number to call. I never write Yelp reviews but I'm happy to add my two cents here for Jeff/Cook's! The heat (boiler) stopped working last Saturday morning when it was extremely cold in our NJ home (which is now occupied by renters) since we now live in California. Spent a frantic morning trying to get HVAC companies out to fix the issue. While we got a couple of the larger companies out to inspect quickly and even spent $250 for a "service"/repair fee, both said we should replace the boiler since it was 40 yrs old for approx $10k and didn't even try to figure out a repair solution. One project manager, a.k.a. salesman, called me with a very hard push to move forward with replacing our boiler. I gave Jeff a ring as well because of the positive reviews on Yelp. I sent pictures of our boiler (which he said looked fine) and he came out the following day. He replaced the pump, pointed out that water in the boiler needed to be added (which neither of the other companies even mentioned), and said there is no reason our boiler needed to be replaced anytime soon. And even helped the tenants via text afterwards when it seemed the heat was not working after his repairs. (Tenants left space heaters on which was shutting off the heat) All for less than $1k. As he said, he's "not a salesman but a fix-it guy." He is now our NJ go-to guy for all HVAC and I wish I could find someone like him out here in CA! read more

I recently purchased an old row home in Northern Liberties with no duct but window unit ACs and the baseboard heating. The baseboard heating gave me $300/month gas bill... Installing highly-efficient ductless mini split system for cooling and heating was on the top of my project list. Found these guys through a referral. It's a family-owned business. Both father and his son are very hardworking. Both of their names are Jeff. I've just installed 4 zone Daikin mini split system with them. Prompt communication, quality job with perfect prep and after-work clean up, no selling particular brand like other big companies do. They will hear your needs, do the walkthrough for free, and make recommendations but will let you choose what brand to go with. Other companies I talked to..Mitsubishi or Fujitsu only, since they get better profit with those brands. You do the research and you'll find out. Jeff backed up my argument that these days all major brands offer similar quality. It boils down to warranty and supply chain. Daikin was a great choice, 12 year warranty! The young Jeff is really great with communication. Answered all my questions via messages. Signed the contract through DocuSign with his license info included, invoicing/payment via Square. For a tech guy like me, he is a contractor of my dream who does quality work and is super tech-savvy. I hate those big companies that I have to talk to multiple different people, desk rep, sales rep, engineer/consultant, actual install crew, financing/payment department whatever.. I've got multiple quotes from 5 different HVAC contractors in town. They either want to sell particular brand or put on huge markup/profit saying that they are big companies with admin cost.. Yeah, those billboards and Yelp Ad spent, I get it. The burden's on the customer. They may not even remember which technician actually installed the system and will send you different technicians every time you need them. Plus, you have to keep dealing with those people who don't know how the system was planned and installed but are only concerned about scheduling and asking you to pay. If you are like me, tired of getting ripped off by big name contractors who outsource their work and take the big markup. You don't like those when you ask for a quote then always say "give me a call to discuss"? Jeff is the right person to talk to. These guys know what they're doing. You can tell by how they move and how they are obsessed with perfection. They kept asking me when there's something that they need my input on and finished the job as promised. Jeff even updated if they secured the equipments as planned. They also back up their work by providing labor warranty as well. You won't be disappointed! I trust that if I ever have any issue in the future, they'll come and figure out what's wrong and fix it as well.
