I Have a small business here in Los Angeles. and have been a customer at GBS for 8 years now. I checked to see if I could pick up today (Sat.) I cannot, no biggie. I will get Monday. Posting after seeing a post where someone 1 starred and then says they ordered samples to go cross country... and noticed poster is in Venice, CA. GBS is in Boyle Heights, (LA, CA) a mere 20 miles away. so IDK what posters definition of "Across Country" is.... maybe Cross county, but I digress. I only pick up Locally, not online, but the prices are better than online, and the customer service is really great. and I worked in CSR for over a decade. so, game recognize game. Im sure the online is a pleasant experience, but I saw this profie at 3.5 stars looking up their hours, and really thought that is a shame. I can't recommend them highly enough. (in fact I have to more than one person with a small business.) best price on 2oz, straight sided flint jars with CRC. nothing for me to gain by writing this, but I support good local businesses.

GBS provides a valuable service to the greater SoCal area - Counter service bottle, jars and lids/caps with a very reasonable ($50) minimum. Sure it gets hectic, busy, items go out of stock... but overall this place is a gem. cheers! www.sleepersgourmet.com

Great sales person: Alex. Deal with anyone else and no one cares about you. They are always out of products, so don't count on them being very reliable. Love Alex's service, but I can't stand the lack of customer service from everyone else. Will use them until I outgrow them, which is already about time. Definitely looking for another provider.

Tried calling Sean M. Not available. No one else seemed to know what I was talking about so go ahead and blame me for it. The rest of your reviews paint the picture. By the way, if you have any body scrub knowledge, nothing in the scrub is "hot" so there is no hot pour. I apologize that I don't have adequate plastic casing knowledge as that is not my area of expertise, it is yours. I had previously used these containers since April because I never had to transport them, and they contained a different product. You're not going to lie anymore and blame me for bad customer service. That's why I got angry at the initial call from your manager, who also tried to blame me.

Waiting for my order to be picked.

You will find a large selection of Thai groceries in this cavernous warehouse store. Though sizing will vary as some items are too big and intended more for restaurants. Some of the reasonable size items I bought here include instant Thai tea, wonton noodles and Thai-Chinese sausages. The store has also a nice selection of prepared Thai foods and there is a stand outside that sells Thai coconut pancakes on weekends. Checkout here is rather slow, but acceptable given the difficulty of finding such a large assortment of Thai groceries in one location.

If you meal prep and you need meal prep containers and are spending more than $1/container, get it here. If you have a big family and you want to buy your items in bulk, come here. It's more like a warehouse so don't expect a Crate & Barrel environment. Some might judge but trust me, it's the same stuff you'll find at other stores but will cost you 2-10x more. Anyway, bottom line is if you don't mind a little dust and want to save money, make a trip here and make sure you have space in your trunk so you can make your trip worthwhile. Don't come here just for a bag of straws. You might as well go to Pavillions. But yes, I'll come back when I need a refill on supplies.

This REALLY should be a two star review but I have to be honest: if you need anything Asian related in terms of cookery, you will probably find it here. And since there's no real competition, other than online, I am absolutely rounding up. But yes, be prepared to scrub the stuff you're getting here thoroughly before using for food prep. At any rate, when I needed Ta Fong, it came through in a pinch. A client required a super authentic hotpot setup for a photo shoot and there wasn't enough time to get anything online. I must have stopped at three other locations of cooking supply stores that technically *should* have carried what I needed, but they didn't. When I got to Ta Fong, there were MANY hotpots for me to choose from. Some looked super Chinese country style in that they had painted pastel flowers and whatnot and others were super modern, imported from Japan. There were many different sizes and since my client and I didn't have a consensus on what would look good in a shoot, I ended up getting three. Things got awkward in regard to me buying the different sizes in that I got automatically interrogated at the counter as to why I needed three and I was upfront about needing it for a styled shoot. Suddenly, I was told there would be no returns at all. As in, the return policy that applies to everyone else got nullified for me at the start. I get where they're coming from in that no one wants to be a free rental house for props but I very clearly explained that I would only be using one of these and the rest were for sizing purposes only. So the lady wrote on my receipt that I COULD bring back only one of the three. I pushed to return back two but could only get her to pre-emptively agree to give me return authorization for one. That sucked. But at the end of the day, the shoot went great and the hotpot we ended up selecting--the large size one--worked beautifully. So, yeah, I'm a-ok with Ta Fong.

Sometimes they're a little more expensive than other places when it comes to certain canned items and seafood (LAX-C has great prices for seafood) but overall the prices are low. The place is super rundown looking. I don't think they're done a thing to upkeep the place in the twenty years I've been to it but no one hangs around. We show up, get our orders and leave immediately thereafter, so there's no incentive for whomever owns the business to fix it pretty. They do well either way.
