This is my second horrible experience here. Gave them the Benefit of the doubt the first time. Not this time. Took me 3 weeks to get an appointment then I show up and took me 25 minutes for someone to help me. They look at it and tell me 1.5 hours of work no problem easy job they do it all the time. Ask when I need it back tell them two weeks. No problem see you then. Two weeks go by I never hear from them so I call and they tell me oh it's next in the bay Ill call you right back. They never call. I call back next day and leave a message. No call back. Call back the next day leave two messages for the supervisor. Never calls back. Call back the next day 5 times before I can talk to anyone. Oh it's next in the bay they tell me and we will call you right back. Never called back. Call back the next day. Now mind you this is now four days after they said they would have it done and I needed it back. I call them back the next day and they say oh it's a big job and it will take 4-8 hours of work and will have it done end of next week. Forget it give my broken Rv back and they stilled charged me $100 to look at it. Avoid at all costs. 6 weeks I spent trying to get it fixed here to no avail read more

we bought our camper in 2020. shortly after began to notice the floor had week spots. started to see damage on the finished floor as well as a loose piece of siding. here we are 3 years later and I'm still waiting for Nicolas in service to get this approved to be repaired. every time I speak with this man he acts like it's the first time he's heard from me but I'm certain I leave an impression. sales team was very helpful and easy to get ahold of. in fact my phone rang off the hook until I signed the paperwork. but once they have your money the customer service is gone. worst buying experience of my life by far read more

BUYER BEWARE, don't trust this deceitful company, specifically the Clarkston location. Short Version: company uses bait and switch scam style sales practices to try get you to agree to HIDDEN UPCHARGES, in my case they were trying to treat my down payment of almost $4,000 as free money, good thing I caught them before agreeing to the purchase. So, I don't normally write reviews but occasionally I have an experience that I just have to share, in hopes that it might help someone else before they get scammed. My wife and I spent hours looking at trailers at the General RV Clarkston, MI location with Ken. We narrowed it down to a couple trailers and he was supposed to work up prices for my return in a couple hours. When I came back, apparently nothing had been done and I got to restart the pricing process with a new salesperson (I am omitting his name as he seemed to do a good job) who after taking information was eventually able to get pricing. Now this is where the scumminess (bordering on criminal deceit) comes in. After going rounds on pricing, the salesperson talks with the Sales manager and says "you better call your wife back cause my sales manager (Scott Robinson) just came in at $50,954 (with your trade-in) for that Grand Design 31MB". Now this sounded like a great price, so I talked with my wife, and we decided to buy the Grand Design. After running my credit card for $3,970 they gave me sales paperwork showing that the loan from my bank would be $50,954. Upon which time I said, WHAT THE HECK, this is 4k above what we agreed on, what is going on? (And to his credit the salesperson seemed surprised and confused as he had believed that the price was the $50,954 that he quoted me.) If you didn't catch that, they were treating my down payment as if it didn't count to the price; so they told me the 31MB was $50,954, but with my down payment in actuality the price was $54,924. In essence they were trying to treat my down payment as if it didn't exist or just trying to be deceitful about the price. This was a fact I could have easily overlooked in the paperwork as the bottom line appeared to be the one we discussed, but was in actuality four thousand dollars higher, folks that an almost 8% upcharge on the unit that they were hoping I would miss so they could say, too bad you signed the paperwork. So what was their excuse for this, well sorry sir it was a miscommunication between our sales manager (Scott Robinson) and the sales person. This after the salesperson and eventually the sales Manager (Scott Robinson) both told me (repeatedly) that the price out the door was $50,954. I guess they figured that after they had me there from 5pm-9:30pm I would be so tired I would go ahead and accept the upcharge. So naturally, I asked if they would honor the deal we made and after calling his boss, Scott Robinson told me they would not honor the agreement and "we could just part as friends." AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE I ENCOURAGE ANY OF YOU THINKING OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS DECEITFUL COMPANY TO TURN AROUND AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE, because if you do business with them you will likely end up with thousands of dollars in hidden fees that mysteriously appear in your paperwork that they are trying to slide past you, and if caught they will claim it is a mistake. Now I understand why they keep racking up lawsuits. I guess on the upside, I have a good story to tell my students about deceptive business practices; at least I got something out of it I suppose. read more

Looking to purchase a RV. DON'T PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM GENERAL RV!!! I purchased a used 31' Motorhome from their Clarkston location, from the very first day we have had nothing but problems. The day we went to pick it up the parts for my Stererite steering stabilizer had not come in. This was not the fault of them. So we spent our first night in our new RV in the parking lot. Again, not their fault but it should have been a red flag for us. The next day when the part came in the service manager came and told me that there was already one on it! I am no mechanic or engineer, but I found it very hard to believe since during the test drive it was wondering on the road. My salesman went out and checked it out and asked me to come out and take a look. The "steering stabilizer" was the one from the factory and consisted of a approximately 1 1/2" shock compared to the approximately 2 1/2" Stererite! The mechanic didn't know the difference? Let alone the Service Manager! We then proceeded to do the walk through with our salesman on our prepared unit. The salesman first got stuck by a needle when he tried to demonstrate the table,(no that's not scary at all). It looked like maybe a tattoo needle? Then the rear camera didn't work, so they took one off another vehicle to ours fixed. There is a 4 usb charging port above the doorway that they couldn't figure out how to fix so they "gave" us a plug-in multi port cube, that was acceptable because this was late afternoon of the second day. They had not installed the large handle on the outside, changed out the toilet to a porcelain or put on the vent protector when we had got there the day before and we had already paid for. I should have taken my own advice and JUST WALK AWAY! On our first trip to North Carolina we set up camp and enjoyed visiting with my folks. Then we went to leave. The slide out would not go in . We had been told that the gears on the slide never needed lubricated, WRONG! We finally got it in and back home. After lubricating the tracks it worked fine. On our second trip, we came back to our rig and the generator was running while plugged in to the appropriate 30 amp service! After several phone calls we finally were able to get it to stop and not come back on. Our last trip was the clincher. When we went to leave the leveler jacks would not retract. Our control panel said it was low voltage? Low voltage, we had been plugged in the entire time. I figured, well they have a "Happy Camper" program so I will just call them. We were only 21 miles from the closest General RV Center. Well they didn't have anyone available to come help us but gave us a number that we could call and maybe this other company would be able to come help us. I called and left a message but never did get a return call. I then broke out the owners manual and found instructions on how to raise them manually by using a socket wrench. I proceeded to follow the instructions and only the front levelers would retract. I then proceeded to open up the hydraulic lines one by one while my son Cory manually raised them. Thanks son! We then took the rig to the closest center where they supposedly fixed it to the tune of $240.00. When we got home and went to set the levelers the panel AGAIN read low voltage! So we decided that WE ARE NOT HAPPY CAMPERS! I called and talked to the salesman and he was shocked to hear that we were so disappointed. We went back over to see him to turn our RV in and purchase a travel trailer instead. This is when I really got upset. I have had the unit for three months, I put $10,000 down on the unit which I was willing to eat. They offered me $26,000.00 less than I OWE on it!!! Scotty, the guy who gave us the offer said that the market had gone soft on them, $36,000 worth in three months! That is ludicrous!! What happened to customer service? What happened to family owned? Is this how they would treat one of their family members? I called and left a message for the President of the company and instead got a call from Brooke the head of customer service. She was very nice and took down all the information and said she would look into it for me. That comprised her having Scotty call us and give us the same old bologna. So if this is the treatment you want by all means head over to General RV because this is what you'll get! read more

My wife and I purchased a new class B motorhome from General RV at the RV show in Tampa Florida. We went there ready to buy. After trying to purchase with 4 other dealers there, we were about to give up. The second day of the show we came across General RV. They had pulled salesman from all of there locations. We were lucky to get a salesman from the Clarkston Michigan location named Daryll Devers. It was great to deal with him. After the sale, he has called us prior to delivery, the day of delivery, on our way home with the new unit and again today 2 days after we got home. Just to make sure everything was going OK with us. There was a mix up on the time and location of delivery. He stepped in and fixed the problem. I gave the 5 stars for dealing with this salesman. read more

We recently bought our dream camper from Martin Wilke at the Clarkston Location. He was so professional and knowledgeable about all of their campers and products. He took the time to listen to both our wants and needs and showed us campers based on that. We ended up with a bunkhouse camper for the kids and we all absolutely love it. Thank you Martin for your knowledgeable and professional expertise! We highly recommend Martin to anyone in looking for a camper. You can tell this is the only game in town. Their service is horribly slow and they offer no apologies. I was told 45 minutes to an hour to have a small camper winterized. I had made an appointment weeks ago and was on time for that appointment. It took over 2 hours with no updates or apologies. I wish there was another Rv dealer close by! I will never go back here to look for a travel trailer and I will definitely not purchase one from here. My husband and I stopped in here to look at a couple RVs we saw online, and we were so hounded by the sales team, it was absurd! A salesman literally followed us on a golf cart and almost ran into us, then would not let us look by ourselves at all. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. A word of advice to general RV-when someone has the money in their pocket and they're in the market, less pressure is better, you guys blew it and lost a sale. And we'll be telling everyone we know. For potential customers- the first warning should be that you have to literally go inside, walk past the sales team, then you can go into their lot to look at the RVs- WHICH ARE ALL LOCKED, and the sales men don't even carry keys. He'll have to "go back and get it from my desk" - "lets go inside for a minute" Again, couldn't get out of their fast enough. read more

Filled out a online application for employment and had a phone call interview. I was told I would receive a phone call on monday to schedule a in person interview. I never received the call. I emailed them back for a reply on if I could get an interview or some kind of feed back and once again I was ingnored. Not very professional at all. After reading the reviews on line and speaking with people who work there I am glad I didn't get a job there. From what I understand general rv is a horrable company to work for. I as well feel they are not a company I could purchase from, I feel I could not support a company who treats employees like crap and have little ethics. read more

The service at this dealership is exceptional! Being from out of town with a new Winnebago Vista that needed a couple of items fixed, they got me in right away. Everyone was so very very helpful, from the people at the front desk to Bailey my service writer to the technician and all the way to Chris, the service manager. I cannot say enough good stuff about this place, their service department, the team work and can do attitude. It starts at reception and goes through to the service techs. They had serviced our motorhome that we bought from a private seller. We were preparing for a trip to the UP of Michigan to be campground hosts. Our refrigerator has had many issues but when we plugged in at home to cool refrig it would not come on. Date: June 26. They were very busy as everyone needed work done before the holiday weekend. We called General RV, they had us come over right away. As we suspected the cost to repair was not worth it. Also while there our propane regulator failed and we had a major leak( don't want to think what might have happened if it happened elsewhere). We left our rig, drove to Indiana to get a new refrig from manufacturer because we needed to be on the road in 48 hrs. When we came back with refrig the next day they had fixed propane leak, had old refrig out and were waiting for the new one. We were able to leave on time. Their help, recognition that we had commitment to national parks and hard work was integral in making this happen! I can't say enough good things. read more

Went there one evening and looked at several RVs. Found one we loved. It was getting late in the evening so we took the info and we're going to go home to think about. The guy told us the one we want is being shipped to Florida tomorrow and we had to put a down payment on it and buy it then. We hadn't even gotten to test drive it yet. I looked a week later and it was still on the lot. So they weren't being honest. They seemed knowledgeable there but very high pressure sales for such a big purchase was a turn-off and we went elsewhere. read more

Brett got us in quickly just before our cross country trip to fix our jack that would not retract properly. We drove 1.5 hours for this service. He also pushed to get it finished in a timely manner during a very busy time. 1st day on our trip we blew a breaker on the inverter. We did not realize it was on the inverter. After trying to fix it ourselves, we called various rv repair shops in Saint Louis MO and no one could get us in or try to assist. We called Brett and he and Dan in service were kind enough to help us to troubleshoot. Our issue was resolved within 10 minutes. Best customer service. Thank you Brett and Dan and General RV for going the extra mile. We will recommend you to everyone! read more

General RV in White Lake, MI was great to us. They did warranty service on our rig even though we did not purchase from them. Every one was very nice and friendly at this location. James the parts mgr is amazing and was so helpful in finding the parts I needed. The service and parts dept really went out of their way to be helpful (especially the parts dept.) Also the receptionists were always cheerful and friendly on the phone and were quick to offer you the voicemail of who you wanted to talk to instead of just leaving you on hold forever. read more

Last fall I was in a desperate situation while attempting to use the Owner's Manual to winterize my Roadtrek 190 Popular. The instructions were terrible. A local auto shop recommended I call General RV Center. I was able to get an appointment the same day and by the following day my Roadtrek was winterized. I was able to talk to the mechanic who did the work and he agreed the instructions I was trying to follow were less than ideal. General RV Center personnel were competent, friendly, efficient, and the cost was reasonable. I will be using them again for future work on my Roadtrek. read more
