I need to check and see if I paid to have this camper (2025 Campsite Reserve 26CJ) prepped/cleaned/etc. Because it wasn't. The sales guy I had acted like my best friend, told me even though this was a used model he'd clean up the outside grill, then in the walk through I found something that resembled duct seal on the floor near the bathroom, and was assured it would be cleaned. It wasn't. Now the Bluetooth system isn't working and their solution is to have me bring it in. Uh, not traveling 4hours back with it to get charged so you can tell me you need to replace the unit and charge me twice what it cost. Plus I talked to Tim at Driven and he's sending me one @20% off. Three and a Half Years of Ownership: Beware My Experience with Jayco and General RV I purchased a brand-new 2022 Jayco Jay Feather 24RL from General RV in October 2022. Unfortunately, before I even took my first camping trip, it had already been back to the dealership for warranty repairs, including an improperly adjusted entry door, a bathroom pocket door, a defective kitchen outlet, a battery disconnect wired incorrectly, and an improperly applied ceramic coating. After only a few camping trips, the list continued to grow. The A/C ducts had never been properly opened from the factory, the black tank sensors failed, the refrigerator latch wouldn't stay closed, and the battery had to be replaced because of the earlier wiring issue. The more significant issues came next. After driving through rain, the camper leaked, leaving water on the floor. The first time I assumed it was my mistake. When it happened again, a technician immediately found the cause--a missing factory foam seal in the slide-out. The repair took only a few minutes, yet I had previously been warned I might have to pay for water testing on a camper that was only about 18 months old. The thermostat also malfunctioned from nearly day one. General RV inspected it multiple times and told me nothing was wrong, even charging me for inspections. After researching online, I found the actual problem myself: the thermostat sensor had been pushed back inside the return-air cavity during assembly. Pulling the sensor into the living area solved the problem immediately. Within the first year, the slide-out also became extremely noisy. The solution was simply lubrication, but I was still asked to pay because it was considered routine maintenance. Now, after only 3 1/2 years, the gel coat on the front cap is peeling badly. Both Jayco and General RV have declined assistance because the camper is out of warranty, leaving me with a $3,681 repair estimate. Ownership Summary Purchased: October 2022 Major camping trips before recurring issues became apparent: 5 Dealer service visits: 8+ Multiple recurring warranty-related issues Two significant problems ultimately diagnosed and corrected by me Current repair estimate for peeling front cap: $3,681 This is not my first travel trailer. Over the past 20 years I've owned multiple RVs, including another Jayco and a Keystone, and none have required anywhere near this level of service. I maintain my campers carefully, winterize them properly, and take pride in keeping them in excellent condition. These issues were not the result of neglect. I understand that every manufacturer can produce an occasional defective unit. What defines a company is how it stands behind its product. Unfortunately, my experience with both Jayco and General RV has been repeated warranty issues, recurring repairs, multiple trips back to the dealership, charges for issues I believe should have been covered, and having to diagnose some of the problems myself. If this camper had experienced one or two isolated issues, I wouldn't be writing this review. It was the continual pattern of defects, recurring repairs, poor communication, and the lack of accountability that led me to share my experience. Before posting this review, I notified both Jayco and General RV that, if we were unable to reach a satisfactory resolution, I intended to publicly share my ownership experience. Unfortunately, despite giving both companies that opportunity, we were unable to resolve these concerns. I have retained service records, repair invoices, photographs, and repair estimates documenting the issues described above should either company wish to review them. My goal is not simply to criticize, but to provide other prospective buyers with a factual account of my ownership experience so they can make an informed purchasing decision. After more than 20 years of RV ownership, this has been the most disappointing RV ownership experience I have had. Buyer Beware - My Experience with General RV I purchased a used 2021 Tiffin Allegro Open Road motorhome from General RV. Like most buyers, I relied on the dealership's representations that the coach had been inspected, prepared for sale, and was ready for travel. As part of the transaction, I paid approximately $4,000 for dealer preparation and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) services. Based on those charges, I expected major defects, safety concerns, and maintenance issues to have been identified and addressed before delivery. Unfortunately, my experience was very different. Shortly after taking possession of the motorhome, I discovered numerous defects and maintenance issues that I believe should have been identified during a thorough inspection. Several involved safety-related systems requiring immediate attention. Among the issues discovered were brake and taillight failures, dry-rotted windshield wipers, a malfunctioning entry step, a missing toilet seal that allowed sewer gas odors into the coach, carbon monoxide and propane detector issues, loose propane fittings, HVAC water intrusion and HVAC failure, underinflated tires, electrical system defects, rear and side camera visibility problems, and slide-out system defects. These issues raised serious concerns regarding safety, reliability, and overall roadworthiness. One of the most significant problems involved the slide-out system. When I submitted a claim to my extended warranty company, coverage was denied because the warranty provider determined the defect was a pre-existing condition that should have been identified before the vehicle was sold. This conclusion was consistent with information provided by both Tiffin and the certified repair technician who completed the repair. What made the situation even more frustrating was the difficulty I experienced obtaining answers and documentation. When I requested records showing what work had been performed during the dealer preparation and PDI process, I was initially informed that no inspection report existed. Later, I was told that inspection and preparation documents did exist but would not be provided because they were considered proprietary company records. As a customer who paid approximately $4,000 for preparation and inspection-related services, I found that response disappointing. If customers are charged substantial fees for inspection and preparation work, there should be documentation showing what was inspected, tested, repaired, serviced, or verified before delivery. Without that documentation, it is difficult to understand how so many issues could have gone unnoticed. Another concern was the amount of effort required to obtain responses. Communication was often slow, and significant follow-up was required before receiving answers. Calls, emails, and messages frequently went unanswered or required repeated contact. To General RV's credit, the company eventually reimbursed me for the slide-out repair expense. However, that reimbursement came only after more than a month of repeated communications and persistence on my part. While appreciated, it did not eliminate the frustration, inconvenience, and expense associated with addressing problems that appeared shortly after delivery. I understand that used RVs can have issues. My concern is not that defects existed, but that numerous defects appeared shortly after delivery despite substantial dealer preparation charges. The volume and nature of these problems caused me to question the effectiveness and thoroughness of the preparation process. My advice to anyone considering the purchase of a used RV from General RV: Get every promise and representation in writing. Request documentation of dealer preparation and inspection services. Personally test every system before accepting delivery. Verify the operation of slides, cameras, lights, appliances, HVAC systems, and safety devices. Inspect tires, batteries, and propane systems carefully. Hire an independent RV inspector before completing the purchase. read more

Very unhappy with the service / parts here. Window shade clips broke on our 1 yr old Bounder. Shade fell down on me on the road. We paid for the bumper to bumper coverage "anything goes wrong we got you covered". NOPE! Just one example: we needed to replace three little aluminum shade clips. They are a very specific size, so cant find them anywhere else. General RV says "oh no we are out of clips. We will order some" OK. They come in and are 2.99 each. OK. BUT freight charge is $25. You cannot tell me they only ordered 3 clips and it cost $25 to ship!! I know they ordered a box to resupply themselves BUT I have to pay their freight cost?? What?? Do they charge every customer the same freight charge or just me cause i came in at the wrong time? read more

This dealership is by far the worst. First of all, it was a rush rush rush. Then, I offered an additional $5,000.00 if we didn't need a co-signer. The reply back was, "Let me check." Dustin never got back with us. We were asked, but by Scottie, if we had anyone that could co-sign. Again, nothing was mentioned about the additional $5,000.00 til we were finished signing the paperwork, which we didn't have it with us. We had to come up with the $5,000.00. Since nothing was mentioned about $5,000.00 and we had a co-signer, the $5,000.00 wasn't needed. Well, we were wrong Before we signed any paperwork, we had Michelle take us thru the walk thru outside and inside. (She wasn't very friendly) While we inspected the outside, there were no scratches or dents, and the fender flares were fully in tact, with no cracks or breaks. My husband heard a cluck and scratch on a white car that the porter hit the camper on. We don't know how the fender flares, and the opposite side got broken halfway off and cracks on the front half of the same side of the fender flare. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!! NOW LOOKS LIKE WE BOUGHT A PIECE OF SHIT SITTING IN SOMEONE'S YARD THAT THEY HAD FOR SALE. General RV doesn't deserve a 1 rating. Unfortunately, that's the lowest you can give. We personally would give them a negative 5. BEWARE of any purchase from General RV!!! They only look out for themselves and the hell with the customer. After speaking with Renee from General RV's Cusomer Care, who I honestly thought and felt she was concerned with our issues, Turned out to be like every General RV employee and belied a bunch of bullshit lies from Tim, the Assistant Manager, and said the damage was caused by my husband and refused to fix the damage the our Travel Trailer. Can't even get a damn update on this NEW (just turned 1 year, got to take all of 2 trips with it) that's been in service AGAIN since February 6th. Been calling for two weeks and this advisor can't pick up the phone or return calls. This isn't the first issue we've had with General RV either, the sales process was slimy, the delivery process was meh, missed camping last year for Fathers Day and 4th of July due to repairs. Already missed a trip out of state to Missouri - you guessed it, 2 weeks ago, in our camper and had to get a hotel instead. General RV has the worst service ever and this camper is junk. As a first time looker, the interaction with the salesperson and 'closer' felt only slightly pressured and uncomfortable (just like car buying) with a clear down hill, attitude, change in our salesman. And yes, we started with 'this is our first time looking, we aren't buying today'. I've since looked at other places and have not had a repeat of this experience. So if you go, know you are going to spend several hours with them... I can't comment on negotiations, though they did throw what appeared to be a competitive price at us. I am in the process of becoming a full time RV-er and he was delicate in his approach to allow me to absorb the inventory of my price range and take my time to feel each new home. He respected my budget concerns, and he paired me to the excellent service department who helped me install a new inverter and lithium battery pack. Tim, one of the managers, and Dave Peterson in finance were INCREDIBLE. I'd like to say I stayed in budget, but I can honestly say that I purchased an RV I will love, the important and necessary upgrades, and warranties that will protect me and my assets along my journeys. Most important, for me anyway, was actually the reception team - and especially Ms. Foss. I don't know what it was about the welcoming committee of the Clarkston, MI office, but every one of them welcomed me warmly and had an excited interest in my business of the day. Ms. Foss specifically made me feel like I had a personal cheerleader as I begin my new adventure. Kindness and friendship like that is hard to buy, much less come by. Ok I didn't want to write this review until all issues pertaining to our travel trailer had been resolved. I feel it is important to leave this review because people usually only leave negative reviews, which gave me huge anxiety and slight buyers remorse after reading all the negative posts. Here's my experience with General RV in Clarkston. My husband and I bought our 2022 Keystone Passport back in May of 2023 and Craig was our agent who was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable, listened to our wants and needs, didn't try to sell us something our vehicle couldn't handle, we couldn't afford, and was patient with us. He has also helped us after the purchase with little items here and there, which is unusual in the service industry. After we bought it, we had a demonstration how to work the travel trailer, we were complete newbies, so it was a lot to take in. On our way home, we couldn't get the hitch off and Dan who was our demonstrator literally came to our house and helped us out. After confessing that we still couldn't remember everything taught (like draining the tanks, hooking up the hitch, etc.), he offered to have us bring it over to his house where he and one of the techs (Kyle) went over everything again, plus did some little alterations for us. After all this, we found some minor issues during a couple of our camping trips. Let me tell you, THEY ADDRESS EVERY SINGLE ITEM, even a couple that were our fault. They were quick about it and if they had to wait for a part, we were able to pick up our trailer and go on our camping trip. They never let us miss a trip. They kept us camping, just like they advertise. Bailey and Shay in the service department worked tirelessly to have keystone and General RV fix all items. I'll be honest, after reading all negative posts when we first purchased it we were skeptical, but I'm here to say, they exceeded our expectations!!! Consumers are buying your products (same day off the lot) with confidence that we would be in receipt of a SAFE, quality product WITHOUT having to revert back to your service departments to correct QA discrepancies AFTER delivery (and in my case 18 months after delivery). Your service departments at key locations (Tampa & Ashland) are overwhelmed, undermanned and working with a supply ordering system that continuously drops the ball. Since the day of purchase, I have been working off an EXTENSIVE punch list for my 2020 Discovery XLT 44B and I've been running up and down Hwy 95 between the two locations, for 18 months now, just to get Parts ordered and obtain "first available" appointments at ANY of these locations. I have learned that parts ordered for MY RV are always "the wrong part" and my re-order falls into a dark hole. Only due to my recurring bi-weekly check-ins with the service managers, am I updated on parts delivery. It is up to me to go into negotiations on service dates and drop-off availability. Since inception, drop off requirements require that I leave the RV at the servicing garage for up to 3-weeks in a "wait" status. Same day install "is not possible" and Service Department Manager's are unsympathetic on customer care. On a serious note, I have been in contact with Corporate (from my July 20 - present) in trying to obtain assistance on missing parts and follow-up service issues. Am I ever going to rid myself a prisoner involving the bureaucracy of this company? I WOULD NOT recommend purchasing from a company that leaves you with a set of keys to a $350K luxury bus that is manufactured and released off the line without being stamped as 100% Safe and Reliable by the General RV Manufacturing Quality Assurance Department just to land a sale. The service Departments are the crux of this organization and obviously General RV Corporate, you are clearly asleep at the wheel. Please take this review as a viable complaint and advanced warming to the downfall of General RV within the RV owner community. We are thousands strong and the consensus is mutual - we will not be repeat customers for this fact alone. The GrandDesign trailer I bought has a door striker that was not installed correctly. I did not notice this until I got it home and tried to close the door. Only the screen door was closed from the inside at the dealers). How could this issue have gone unnoticed through their acceptance checks? now I have to haul it back to the dealer. Trust No one. We went camping once in the RV and one of the slides stopped working. We had to sleep on the spare bed on the dining section 7nights out of 10 on our vacation. We took our RV in for repair to General RV and they said two weeks for repair. Geez, we've only had it 30 days. Two weeks have past and now we've been told another 3 to 6 weeks for parts. Back on April 12th we worked out a deal to hold a unit with a deposit for review since inventory is scarce and it was the only option to review the unit. Two weeks later the salesman emails us indicating the unit is NO LONGER tagged for us. We request a refund of our deposit without success. Then in April 26th unit is back to being tagged for us and need to see if we want it delivered to the Mount Clemens location instead. Never once during the 3 hour discussion was Mount Clemens ever mentioned. At this point why so much drama on a simple purchase. It leaked on our first trip out, dropped it off to be fixed and was told we were lying about the leak. After WEEKS of being there(and testing the WRONG slide-out), they found the leak. Saturday she said we had a few offers and great credit, I forgot I had my credit locked, Monday morning comes around and we have no offers because it was locked. Salesman and business manager didn't know about current promotion that was valid for the RV we were looking at. I asked if there was any kind of cash discount, I was basically told it wasn't worth making a deal for one sale. I gave my card info and CVC over the phone for a $2,000 deposit to transfer a unit to the Clarkston location on Aug15. On Aug17 I pay in full. On Aug21 they start blowing up my phone with emails and phone calls that they forgot to charge me for the deposit before the piece of paper my info was written on was shredded. Bought a new RV from General RV in Clarkston in early May of 2020. Even though we live 2 hours away from this place we picked it because it had the make model RV we were looking for. Issues: 1) The finance guy we spoke with was rude and pushy, refusing to take no for an answer on the add-ons they were selling. Insisted on talking politics even after my wife and I both asked him to stop. We ended up having to switch to a different less aggressive finance guy. 2) When we drove down to pick the RV up the person they had doing the PDI knew absolutely nothing about the RV, he couldn't even open the living room couch into a bed. He ended up having to ask someone from his team to assist and that person only knew slightly more. 3) They delivered the RV to us with the refrigerator running on propane, the internal water pump running, the kitchen water faucet on, the kitchen chairs weren't secure which ended up damaging one of the chairs and the screen door. The service manager did send someone up to fix everything and he was able to after 2 trips to the house but we ended up missing our memorial weekend camping trip as a result. 4) Aug 14, while on a camping trip our antennae stopped receiving TV signals, we spoke to the service manager from the campsite and explained the issue, after several follow up texts I was able to speak to a tech and he confirmed over the phone that the antennae was defective. I offered to replace the antennae if they could send it to me which they agreed. We waited over a week for the antenna and when I followed up with the service manager he tells me it was never sent so he had to over night the part to our next camp site which he did. The replacement antenna didn't fix the problem so I asked him if the wall plate could be the issue which he then said probably, this was 5 days ago and we still haven't even been told when to expect an ETA on the wall plate delivery. And when I asked for when we could expect an ETA I was rebuked by the service manager because I asked him during their busiest week of the year. unbelievable. This dealer's service department is woefully over worked, unorganized and under trained based on our experience. read more

I would not recommend using them to sell your camper. I spoke to someone on the phone about what I was looking to sell, told them the minimum price I'd want (which was a few grand below what private parties are selling for), and they said my price is definitely in their range. I specifically told them I don't want to get there and be offered significantly less, and they said it wouldn't be an issue. I really didn't want any of the hassle of selling privately, so I figured I'd lose some money by taking the easy route. After making the trip down there with the camper and title in hand, they had me sit around while talking to their "corporate buyer" who said the best they could do is HALF of what they said on the phone. The worst part is we bought the camper from General RV a couple years ago, so I figured it'd be a good place to turn sell it. According to them "they need to make money too", which they had ready made on the initial sale, as well as would still would make off of what I wanted. However a margin of 20-30% is too low, and would only settle for 80-100%. This was also before anyone had inspected the camper, so it's not like they could pretend they found any issues with it to affect the price. Either way, I will never use General RV for any future purchases or any equipment. I had recommended them in the past to others, but this experience was an absolute waste of my time. They simply told me what I needed to hear to get me there, and hoped their low-ball offer would be accepted. I understand business fine and know they need money, but they have forever lost my respect and patronage. I hope this helps others with their decisions in the future. read more

We had an appointment in Clarkston MI, waited an hour & a half in their waiting area & never got to our meeting with the salesperson. So we used their WiFi to kill time on our phones. After a good hour, we wanted to walk outside & see an RV while waiting, so another salesperson showed us the rig we wanted to see. That night when home, my husband, who introduced himself to no one (the salespeople were dealing only with me), finds an email from yet a third salesperson about the EXACT rig we walked outside to look at! Now, HOW DID THEY GET HIS NAME AND EMAIL? So he called the manager of the location, who outright denied they obtain email addresses from their WiFi login. Unfortunately, General RV is the largest dealer in MI, for full-time toy-haulers. But we're going to have to go elsewhere. read more

Your response to me is unacceptable. I did not deal with a television manufacturer, nor an awning manufacturer, nor an electrical bunk manufacturer, nor a plumbing manufacturer. I dealt with General RV and I expect you to stand behind your products, not defer your responsibility to your customers to other third parties. So what if the manufacturer denies to correct the malfunctioning items? Does that mean General RV then will refuse to correct the defects? If so, that appears to be an unfair predatory arrangement to avoid your responsibility to back your products and leave your customers wrongly unsatisfied. I would strongly suggest that you convince your suppliers to replace all the malfunctioning items on my coach that failed the very first time I used it. If not, then I have several avenues available to me to gain satisfaction, especially in the court of public opinion, which goes far beyond Yelp reviews. As for your Clarkston Service Director that implied I was lying about this trip being my first even though I had purchased the coach 4 months before, please inform him that travel in the state of Michigan was banned by the Governor due to a virus named Covid19 during that time. He was most arrogant and condescending and rude and couldn't have cared any less that I have been a loyal General RV customer for decades. Thus is not just about money to me. I could easily pay for any repairs. It is about principle. I am willing to spend far more money on principle to correct this agregious corporate behavior than it would take to simply purchase the repairs. The ball is in your court. read more

we bought our camper in 2020. shortly after began to notice the floor had week spots. started to see damage on the finished floor as well as a loose piece of siding. here we are 3 years later and I'm still waiting for Nicolas in service to get this approved to be repaired. every time I speak with this man he acts like it's the first time he's heard from me but I'm certain I leave an impression. sales team was very helpful and easy to get ahold of. in fact my phone rang off the hook until I signed the paperwork. but once they have your money the customer service is gone. worst buying experience of my life by far read more

This is my second horrible experience here. Gave them the Benefit of the doubt the first time. Not this time. Took me 3 weeks to get an appointment then I show up and took me 25 minutes for someone to help me. They look at it and tell me 1.5 hours of work no problem easy job they do it all the time. Ask when I need it back tell them two weeks. No problem see you then. Two weeks go by I never hear from them so I call and they tell me oh it's next in the bay Ill call you right back. They never call. I call back next day and leave a message. No call back. Call back the next day leave two messages for the supervisor. Never calls back. Call back the next day 5 times before I can talk to anyone. Oh it's next in the bay they tell me and we will call you right back. Never called back. Call back the next day. Now mind you this is now four days after they said they would have it done and I needed it back. I call them back the next day and they say oh it's a big job and it will take 4-8 hours of work and will have it done end of next week. Forget it give my broken Rv back and they stilled charged me $100 to look at it. Avoid at all costs. 6 weeks I spent trying to get it fixed here to no avail read more
