Most unflattering haircut I have ever had and am most unhappy. Must give credit to friendly desk staff and personable shampooer but my experience with cut terribly upsetting. Even though I live in NJ and have to drive an hour to get to Generations, I've been making the trip for years. I wouldn't trust anyone but Kelly to touch my hair--she's amazing. Not only is she the best at what she does, but she's also just a genuinely great person. Trust me, those 30 minutes in her chair will be the best part of your day! read more

I've been a regular customer here for years and have been getting the best haircuts ever. This is a family owned business located on the second floor with a number of amenities for everyone. They offer a free shampoo with every haircut, complimentary beverages -- and a cigar lounge to name a few. The stylists are very well trained, and do an excellent job. Hard to get a bad haircut here. This is hands-down the best barbershop I have ever been to. I was greatly impressed with their facilities and the fact that it is a family business really does show me that they take great pride in their work. I really cannot understand how they could possibly have a negative review other than if someone was simply having a bad day and decided to take it out on the shop. They are really nice people who work there and they have everything you could possibly need. It is really a high level of service at the shop. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

I've been going to Generations since 2007 when I moved to the area. I always go to Carolina. I get a pretty basic cut but she always gets the shape right in spite of a ridge on my head. I've gone to other places periodically due to her schedule and no one gets it as right as her. The beer/coffee/water/juice option while you wait is a nice touch as is the shampoo and scalp massage afterwards. read more

The Staff is excellent! I have gone here several times with my kids and each experience was great. They are super friendly, very knowledgeable, and I leave with exactly what I asked for, if not more. Wide variety of services, and the prices are very fair. My husband in particular loves the cigar lounge - enjoying a cigar after getting his fresh cut! I've been here 3x for a haircut w/ 3 different people and have not been disappointed. First, they give you complimentary beer, coffee, cappuccino while you are waiting. Second, there is a little smoking area where you can chill and smoke cigars (though I haven't) and read some magazines (of the naughty variety). Third, they have TVs at every chair so you can watch the game while getting your hair cut. Fourth, super friendly staff allow for an enjoyable experience. PS. Let them know its your first time there and they give a free special wash (I think normally costs $5/$6) PPS. You might want to call ahead to check if they are busy...I've had to leave once b/c I tried to get a cut between other appts and there wasn't enough time. read more

I had the same experience as Joe P below. I got in quick, but the hair cut was extremely rushed. Probably took about 5-10 minutes. I asked for a "very light trim" and she literally shaved off almost my entire head and left a couple inches on top. I am always very specific with instructions on how I want it cut, and have never had issues, so there really isn't much room for interpretation. Go somewhere else that listens to what you want, doesn't just hack away, and is actually friendly. Who cares about the drinks if the haircut looks like you stuck your hour head in a lawnmower. read more

NEVER going back. I watched the manager or owner, some guy with little man syndrome, in a place filled with women working, walk around yelling and belittling them without a care in the world to who was watching or listening. It got so bad at one point I wanted to get out of the chair and leave in the middle of the haircut. The woman that was cutting my hair was so embarrassed, she was bright red. I asked her if this is how it always was here and she asked if I wanted to go shorter. So I knew that was a sign. And on top of that, they RAISED their prices DOUBLE since the last time I was there. I asked the guy that was doing all the bullying if they raised the price and he said he didn't have a choice. Seems like he's just taking advantage of the time we're in if you ask me! The haircut was 10 min and NOT worth $60. It's a higher end Cutting Crew bad coffee and shampoos. And the way the workers are treated, you couldn't pay me $60 to go back. Trifecta disaster - low quality cuts, high price, bad service. The only positive aspect is the wait time is not an issue as it was two years ago. If I could give this places a zero star I would. Nobody knows how to cut hair. They always just cut all my hair off even when I ask for a trim. This is a fun place to go for a haircut. They've made it into sort of a man cave, with a cigar room (with cigars for sale), lots of well organized reading material (mostly man-friendly stuff), massage while getting hair cut, etc. You have the option to do a-la-carte service, i.e., if you don't want a shampoo you pay less. They seem to have a large staff so even if you show up without an appointment, chances are you won't wait long anyway. The price is fair, not as cheap as a corner barber but nowhere near the price of a high end hair salon. And they do a very nice job overall! read more
