Excellent service! Me and my husband recently talked about about changing our old water heater for a tankless water heater. Unfortunately it came sooner than we planed when our heater decided to take a dump on us. We called Generations plumbing and they where able to fit us in quickly. Not only do they bring the tankless water heater, they also took our large heater with them. Alex with Generations advices us into looking at rebates with So Cal Gas, and gave us all information needed to apply, I am currently waiting on a possible $1500 rebate back thanks to his advice. Alex is a super nice and friendly guy. His company seems very professional and he was able to see me same day when my water heater went out. That is why I've given Generations Plumbing 2 stars instead of one based on my experience with them. However, while I agreed to pay the service fee of $65 to have him come out, I didn't feel he took the time to really diagnose the issue and offer a reasonable solution. Upon first looking at my water heater, Alex immediately suggested that without the model number, he couldn't do anything and that I should just pay him $1200 for a whole new heater. This is just not the case. At one point I even asked "Do you even want to test it?", because he had not even touched it or even look closely at it. I called the manufacturer who was able to tell me the model number and further diagnose the problem. It ended up being a severed wire to the electrode on the igniter, which was a $10 part at home depot. I did the work myself and my water heater is working fine. I am not an expert, but the fix was pretty straight forward and I confirmed the steps to fix it with the help from the water heater manufacturer. If I had listened to Alex, I would have replaced a perfectly good hot water heater. I feel that if he had done just a little bit more investigating, he would have found the same issue I did and I probably would have paid him for the 2-3 hours worth of work that I ended up having to do (while taking time off from my job). I felt he would have been better off, and made more money if he properly diagnosed my issue. I wouldn't have had to take time off from work and he would have been paid more than just the service fee. Again, he's a great guy and I'm sure he knows his profession very well, but I didn't feel like his service with me specifically was very helpful. I only hope his other customers are not taken advantage of because they may not do the little bit of research I was forced to, due to the misdiagnosis. read more

I have had issues with my tankless water heater where it literally takes five minutes for the water to get hot at the kitchen faucet and after a minute or so, it will get cold again. A local plumbing company came to my house and said I needed a new tankless water heater. I called Generations Plumbing and to my surprise, Alex had all the time in the World for me and troubleshot the problem with me over the phone. He said if my other faucets were getting hot water he did not think the problem was with my tankless water heater. He gave me some suggestions on what I could do and sure enough, I was able to get hot water within 45 seconds vs 5 minutes. Over the phone, Alex was a true gentleman and professional. In this day and age, at times I feel like a nuisance when I call a repairman but not Alex. He is truly "Old School." From my experience, I rate Alex and Generation Plumbing, 5 Stars. read more

I've called Alex a few more times since the last time I wrote this review to fix various things around the house. Each time he has been really responsive (and will respond via text which is great for people like me who have phone anxiety) and has been able to make time to come out within a day. He installed a new toilet for us, which involved fixing a broken flange that our home warranty company pretended was not an issue. The broken part of the flange was really stubborn, but he was able to fix it at minimal cost and minimal fuss. He also fixed a leak in our master bathroom sink. The sink was leaking again six months later but in a different place, but he fixed the leak and wouldn't take my money for the trouble. I had my entire house repipe from galvanize to copper by Alex. My house was built 1962 and has a very narrow crawl space where in some areas has only 14 inches crawl space with crumbled rocks on it.
