Finally compeleted this epic adventure from my bucketlist!…read more I have always wanted to go on a hot air balloon so once a special occasion came up there was no better moment then now. HOWEVER safety and experience were my main goals when choosing a hot air balloon company. I had remembered a few years ago my coworker's son got married at letchworth and had a hot air balloon in the background of some of his photos! How sweet it would have been to be in those photos is beyond me. This is were I initially started thinking this would be awesome to go on some day. after doing research balloons over letchworth has 25 years of experience, no accidents, and they are caring and safe. Example: if there is chance of rain, wind above 10 mph, etc. you are not flying. They will reschedule. For me this was not the case. The day of you call 2 hours before your flight and see if its still on or not. The flight experience was peaceful and very relaxing. The highest wind speed our balloon caught was 4mph. The highest we went was 3100 feet above sea level. Amazing!!! We were up in the air for 58 minutes. How do I know all of these details? The pilot has equipment that records everything during the flight. During your flight if you have any questions just ask your pilot. Ours was Sean (as long as he's not trying to land since he has to concentrate). Sean was very friendly, caring and knowledgeable. He truly would answer any question (even though he has probably heard it 2,000 times before) I can't remember the exact number of hot air balloon flights he has done but I think it's in the 2,000s. He also was very caring in that he wanted everyone to have fun and be comfortable. And safe! For those of you who are concerned about the cost, it's not everyday you go on a hot air balloon. I can understand why the flight is seems expensive, there's so much investment and time that goes into a flight. There is a chaser crew (who also puts the balloon together), not to mention the pilot and materials for the hot air balloon. The staff was extremely nice and professional. I tipped them for doing such a great job and helping us have such a great experience. Thanks Sean and Crew! Look forward to hopefully flying again someday!

This is something you can't adequately describe. It was fun, thrilling, relaxed and beautiful. I have jumped out of airplanes and this was better. Better from the standpoint of being able to enjoy the better part of 2 hours in the air. And yes, the pilots can steer the balloons for the most part The staff were awesome, accommodating, friendly and fun! I recommend if you do this to stay somewhere locally like the Glen Iris! Yes, everything is weather dependent as they can't go up in any appreciable wind, but this was made clear from the start. We talked the morning of the balloon rally, and it was communicated again, that everything was weather dependent. Arrived at the rally, and a good breeze was blowing. The rally master would not let balloons take off and we were delayed. BUT, ultimately we ended up going up the evening we scheduled. It was incredible. It was beyond what we had hoped. The weather ended up cooperating, the flight was incredible. The landing was flawless. The pilot's knowledge of the area, anectodes of his hotel room, land-owners, other balloons and their pilots was excellent. I would do this again in a heartbeat and I would not hesitate to recommend High Hopes Balloon Co. With that in mind, remember that the balloon cannot go up in high winds, thunderstorms, or if there is lightning within 80 miles. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY.

The views are amazing from that high up. It was clear....we could easily see Toronto, Buffalo, the reservoir and of course great views of Niagara Falls. Competent pilot Megan and trainee Mika did a wonderful job keeping us safe as all of a sudden the wind gusted....and didn't stop. It got extremely windy fast and man could we feel it. I loved it. It was invigorating, I felt so alive. I stood facing the wind with arms outstretched feeling the power as the balloon platform tilted and the balloon moved far in one direction with the wind force pushing it....then like a pendulum swung back again....and continued in this back and forth motion. Megan was directing Mika on what to do to control it, not wanting it to get out of hand. It wasn't a problem for them, they knew what to do and got us back down safely....but what a ride! The calm ride changed in an instant...nature has a mind of its own. It was amazing. I was tingling inside with some weird energy I captured from the wind. I carried that energized feeling with me all day. I enjoyed it so much. It's always an adventure riding the balloon. The people working there are wonderful, they enjoy what they do, love being outdoors working in that environment...it shows in their happy smiles.
