This is something you can't adequately describe. It was fun, thrilling, relaxed and beautiful. I have jumped out of airplanes and this was better. Better from the standpoint of being able to enjoy the better part of 2 hours in the air. And yes, the pilots can steer the balloons for the most part The staff were awesome, accommodating, friendly and fun! I recommend if you do this to stay somewhere locally like the Glen Iris! Finally compeleted this epic adventure from my bucketlist!…read more I have always wanted to go on a hot air balloon so once a special occasion came up there was no better moment then now. HOWEVER safety and experience were my main goals when choosing a hot air balloon company. I had remembered a few years ago my coworker's son got married at letchworth and had a hot air balloon in the background of some of his photos! How sweet it would have been to be in those photos is beyond me. This is were I initially started thinking this would be awesome to go on some day. after doing research balloons over letchworth has 25 years of experience, no accidents, and they are caring and safe. Example: if there is chance of rain, wind above 10 mph, etc. you are not flying. They will reschedule. For me this was not the case. The day of you call 2 hours before your flight and see if its still on or not. The flight experience was peaceful and very relaxing. The highest wind speed our balloon caught was 4mph. The highest we went was 3100 feet above sea level. Amazing!!! We were up in the air for 58 minutes. How do I know all of these details? The pilot has equipment that records everything during the flight. During your flight if you have any questions just ask your pilot. Ours was Sean (as long as he's not trying to land since he has to concentrate). Sean was very friendly, caring and knowledgeable. He truly would answer any question (even though he has probably heard it 2,000 times before) I can't remember the exact number of hot air balloon flights he has done but I think it's in the 2,000s. He also was very caring in that he wanted everyone to have fun and be comfortable. And safe! For those of you who are concerned about the cost, it's not everyday you go on a hot air balloon. I can understand why the flight is seems expensive, there's so much investment and time that goes into a flight. There is a chaser crew (who also puts the balloon together), not to mention the pilot and materials for the hot air balloon. The staff was extremely nice and professional. The basket was comfortable, very well maintained, clearly cared for and in top shape. The team drove us back from our landing location to our cars in a new and comfortable van. Overall a wholly pleasant experience and a great way to spend a few hours in the morning or afternoon, best planned a couple days before.

They surprised me on Day 2 with our own driver for the day. Spencer was AMAZING!!!! He is so knowledgeable about the area and the wineries and took us to the best places. He was so nice and accommodating and just a joy to be around. It was a shame he was our driver because he would've been a great addition to our girls trip to party with. Love love love Keuka Taxi and Spencer. My early bday surprise trip was a huge success and a lot of it was because of Spencer. We used the service where they drive YOUR car so we didn't have to rent a party bus; however, I do know they have those type of accommodations as well. I HIGHLY recommend Keuka Taxi AND Spencer. I have friends going to Seneca Lake the first weekend in November and have already given them Spencer's information to book.

She said it usually takes one hour per winery so she suggested two others and we "finalized" the itinerary. By the time we got there, however, we'd found one other we wanted to visit. I didn't want to be "that customer," making last minute changes, but when Beth showed up and sized up my husband and me, she said she was about to suggest the very same change we were asking for. That's a perk I haven't seen in these reviews, but deserves to be highlighted: these drivers know the wineries well and know which ones fit which groups. Bachelor/ette parties? Experienced wine snobs? Nerds who aren't snobs but want to learn something? Beth knew exactly which wineries would be best for which client. We expected to learn something at the wineries, but didn't realize how much we'd learn from the driver! On top of that, Beth was just such a lovely person. Far beyond the basic minimum of transporting us safely, she also came in and fetched us from one of the wineries when we spent too long chatting with the staff there and were at risk of missing our next reservation. And she was a blast to talk to! We felt we'd made a friend by the end of the tour, and next time we're in the Finger Lakes, we'll ask for Beth by name, though I'd trust that Keuka Taxi has many such wonderful drivers. We had tickets to the 2024 edition of the fabulous airshow BUT at the last moment, decided NOT to…read moredrive to the airport where the airshow is. We remembered being in front of everyone ON the grass, and still ppl got in front of us. As darkness arrived, we moved from the grass to farther up ON the taxiway to a spot where there was nobody around us for about 10-15 ft. As it got darker, people stood and mosied over to stand in front of our tripods again. We again moved farther back and others lined up in front. For that reason, though we had tickets for the show in 2024, we stayed away. We especially hated the walk in the dark on the runway and taxiway, onto the dark road, and stumbling around to find the car in the dark. Considering all that, we stayed away from the show area tho we had paid tickets and went elsewhere for our tickets, and had NO problems with ppl in the way of our cameras. We had plenty of streetlights and there was no problems in the dark. WE will probably do the same next year also, buy tickets to support the great show BUT not enter the airport grounds. The 2024 airshow was great. The 2024 was great too BUT hated the advertising included in the fireworks. If they do that again next year 2025, then it'll be the last time we attend.
