Over the years, I had often heard good things about this course located in Saginaw County but I'd never had a chance to play it. Like I had done many times before, I set up our tee time online a few days in advance. I was very impressed with the courtesy of the Pro Shop staff when they called me the morning of our round to let me know that golf carts would be only allowed on the cart paths due to a big storm the night before. That was a classy move by the Pro Shop staff and I really appreciated the heads-up. Despite the heavy rains the night before, we found the golf course to be in beautiful shape. In an area that is generally pretty flat, The Fortress has been designed to effectively utilize natural elevations to bring additional beauty to the golf course. An unusual highlight of our round was seeing a red fox in a sand trap on Hole # 16. And wouldn't you know, my ball end up in that trap! Overall, we really enjoyed our round at The Fortress and look forward to playing here again in the future. 5 stars!

The actual ceremony took place under a beautiful tree to the back of the golf course. I guess there are few places throughout the center to host events. This area was considered the the Summerhouse. The ceremony was beautiful and so was the bride! After the ceremony, we were escorted to the event space for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. This was was actually round two for us celebrating back2back weddings, so we were in desperate need of energy and stamina to keep up with event. lol Everything was beautifully decorated and I really liked the fresh flower centerpieces. The entire space had lights strung from one rafter to another with large rustic chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I estimated seating for close to 200 people. They did a nice job keeping up with the strolling appetizers and the two main bartenders were great. The dinner was buffet style, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I'm not familiar with this venue. I was so impressed by the layout of food. Everything looked delicious and very fresh. The menu consisted of rolls, salad, green beans/carrots, potatoes, pasta (my favorite), chicken piccata in a lemon sauce with capers, and roast beef with gravy. The food was fantastic; I'm not typically a fan of buffets but I would most certainly come back for the food. The DJ did a great job entertaining the crowd and we enjoyed the space dedicated to an open air patio with a huge area for lawn games. We decided to play a few games of corn hole, which everyone was enjoying. I was shocked to see the bugs stayed away, which of course was a bonus. This was by far the best outdoor wedding I've ever been to. I've been told that the golf course also does an amazing brunch. I will most certainly be back to give it a try.

Eagle Eye is consistently rated in the top tier of Michigan's golf courses by Michigan Golf Advisor. Driving up to the rambling 65,00 sq. foot clubhouse, we could see that Eagle Eye Golf & Banquet Center was serious about their banquet and event business. The clubhouse has several large rooms and all have beautiful lake and golf course views. We were here, however, for some serious golf. My wife and I met two good friends at the "Eye" and had a chance to warm up on the driving range and putting green before our morning tee time. We found the fairways to be beautifully maintained. Five sets of tees provide total course yardage from 7,274 yards from the tips to 5,105 from the forward tees. The greens were quite large, had many challenging undulations and like the fairways, were also in flawless shape. This course has plenty of picturesque water holes and what seemed like a ton of strategically located sand traps that gave our foursome plenty of challenges. The highlight of our round was playing the Par 3 Hole # 17 which is an exact replica of the "Island Green" hole at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Verda, Florida. What a thrill it was to stick the Island Green from 136 yards on my first try and go on to nail down my Par. Bingo! Overall, Eagle Eye was a solid 5-star experience and a great way to spend a sunny June day with good friends in Michigan.
