I've been here for 3+ years and I'm convinced I'd want Dr. Michelle to be my entire family's dentist (I've already convinced my husband to switch over, now just need to pop out a few kids to have teeth soon and we're set!). Not only is Dr. Michelle and her entire staff extremely warm, welcoming, and friendly (I swear she hires intentionally for that characteristic, and I love it), they are very knowledgeable, great with children, explains what they are going to do, answers all my ridiculous amount of questions (for curiosity's sake), and have state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. I love how the entire staff cares about you as a human being. It's hard to believe I only see them twice a year because every time I come back, they remember where I work, what I do, what trips I've coordinated for my teams, where I'm getting married, when I'm getting married, whether I'm having kids soon or not... seriously, every single detail, it's like time hasn't passed at all. For day-to-day care, I highly recommend them, you can't go wrong. Here's why I docked one star, and I'm so sad to have to do it because everything, everything about Dr. Michelle, her staff, and Genesis Dentistry is amazing. A week before my wedding, I had scheduled for a teeth whitening treatment. We wanted it to be pearly white so we were going to use a much higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Problem is, the technician who was doing the treatment was extremely careless with her work. I could repeatedly feel burns on the corners of my lips and on the top of my gums, but I figure I can tolerate the pain, this is part of the procedure, Jenny suck it up. The part when I realized it wasn't normal was when she pulled out an entire gauze covered in the hydrogen peroxide gel and pulled it right across my bottom lip, covering the entirety of my lip with the burning material. At this point it began to BURN and I couldn't stop crying. She kept repeating that the cost of beauty is pain and that this is all normal and I should stop crying. At this point, we were almost finished with the procedure, the damage was already done, so I wrapped up the process. Aside from the pain of the burns, I figured it looked fine so I went home. Issue was, over the next few days, my burned lip began to triple in size, and half my gums turned black and fell off in chunks. It was terrifying and at this point my wedding was a days away, and I had 1 more day before flying off to my destination wedding in another state! When my husband angrily called to complain, the technician tried to blame me for not speaking up during the procedure (hard to with a mouth full of gauze and burning gels - and apparently my cries of pain and tears running down my face was not an indicator), and said she didn't burn me at all aside from the normal mini burns that are to be expected. We showed them the photos of my fat lip and decomposing black gums to show that the technician was dishonest and not taking responsibility. Dr. Michelle called me and asked me to come back in, personally attended to me, apologized repeatedly on behalf of the technician, and prescribed some solution that would help escalate the healing. We were all rather nervous about the healing time, but we hoped for the best. She refunded the entire procedure with the agreement that we would not file a lawsuit. I don't think Dr. Michelle could have handled that process better because my husband and I were this close to changing dentists at that point, but her ability to handle and recover the situation was flawless, we realized the problem was with the one individual staff member and not her or the rest of her amazing team. By wedding day, my lip and gums completely healed and you wouldn't have known that a few days before they suffered so much trauma. I'm still a repeat customer to this day. I don't know if that one technician is still there, I haven't seen her in almost a year. I wonder if she was fired, or if the team actively has her work on shifts when I don't come in. Either way, I don't run into her any more, and the rest of the staff continues to be incredible. Please don't let my one negative experience (out of many incredible ones) dissuade you from coming in and giving Genesis Dentistry a try, you'll really love them all the minute you walk through the doors and meet them. read more

Dr. De La Vega and staff at Genesis Dentistry rock! I was so scared to go to the dentist during this pandemic, but the safety protocols they have in place at their dental office is exceptional. The overall atmosphere and staff made me feel safe. UVC, high performance air purifiers, humidifiers, wipes, and hand sanitizers were all readily available. The Dr. and staff were following all their safety procedures which were posted throughout the clinic. They also wore PPE, practiced social distancing, and educated me on some of the changes and safety protocols they have in place since my last visit prior to the pandemic. They only take one patient at a time (in a clinic that can accommodate at least 3 at a time) and blocked off the waiting room. They also text you about your appointment and send you a reminder. I had been going to this dentist for 17 years now, and am always impressed by her commitment to cleanliness. During this pandemic, I am amazed by and appreciative of their safety protocols. It is so apparent that the safety of the patients and staff is top priority in this dental office. I give them 5 stars for their professionalism, competence, and commitment to their patients! I used to fear going to the Dentist. What a blessing to have found Dr. de la vega and her awesome team. They patiently explained and answered my questions about overall dental health during my consultation. We have created a plan where I need to catch up and have a healthy mouth and then work on the cosmetic side. She also explained to me the importance of why it is necessary to treat oral health the same way we put importance in taking care of our body. It is part of our body and the gateway to our body. This is the second dentist I have ever had in my life. I needed to choose another dentist now that I am on my own insurance - finally got too old for Daddy's insurance. - Plus I moved to the south bay from the east bay. I spent weeks looking for a dentist. Out of the ones that were the closest to me, this one had a good review (even though it was JUST ONE!!!) I thought I would just give it a shot! So to compare - Dr. De La Vega's office is SOOOO more high tech than my old one in Oakland. Right when I walk it, it almost looks like a spa. It had many tranquil plants, and even a fountain. Since it was my first time using this insurance, 16 x-rays were covered along with a general cleaning. I sat down in my chair and the x-rays were done right there. Plus the images show up on a flat screen that is located RIGHT IN FRONT of my chair. So I see all the xrays as they are being taken. Later on, they took regular pics with this camera pen - again the pics show up on the screen in front of you. My old dentist didn't have anything like this. They had the xrays that you put against the light. They didn't take regular photos of your teeth. The staff was extremely friendly! But not only that, but there are two people helping out when they are doing the general cleaning and they are constantly checking to make sure I'm OK. AND they can tell you about the insurance information instantly. I asked if so many xrays were covered with my insurance and they knew that. Then I was getting cavities filled but right beforehand, they sat me down and broke down the charges to me - with deductibles, bla bla mumbo jumbo. That was impressive. The cavity filling process was painless - because they were so attentive, numbing the gums, THEN injecting Novocaine. Last, but not least, Dr. De La Vega explains the WHOLE process to along the way. It's a great way to make you more aware of your teeth and gums. She explained to me the importance of flossing - instead of just saying "don't forget to floss" If you are looking, I HIGHLY recommend Genesis Dentistry. read more

The staff are polite and friendly. Had service done in january and now six months later they are asking for more money. Their insurance claim process is below standard. Spoke to the insurance to inquire about it and reply when there is alternate fee, they will pay the lesser amount. The insurance person added there was no record of the staff calling to verify coverage before procedure. Im sorry because of that we will not go back. They lost four clients. The office called me. I had a lot of fears of dental work from past experience but after getting a cleaning and fixing 2 cavities here I am no longer afraid all because of the great work the Dr de la Vega does. Her technique and skill makes the procedures painless and she is very professional and caring. Staff are excellent. Office is clean and feel so safe. Yes. It's a dentist office. Is there anything nice about a dentist office? PLENTY! Everyone is so friendly. I genuinely enjoy seeing Michelle and staff. It's like getting my haircut but instead my mouth gaping open with annoying poking, picking and prodding. But hey! It's a dentist office. No offense darlings it's your job. I have suggested using a beer rinse from the lovely pub just below, and perhaps a tanning booth as means of teeth whitening. Tan skin=white teeth. Michelle said she'd look into this, so I'm looking forward to returning soon. Caramels, no brushing teeth and no floss should get me back soon! I can't wait! read more

went in for my second visit yesterday, this is the worst dentist office, there is no professional demeanor, constant talking between the two of them while over me during cleaning, then they disappeared for 5 minutes! I'm filling up and drooling and nobody is around for suction. she didn't even floss my teeth after polishing. I was handed a shot glass sized cup with a few drops of mouthwash to rinse out in a sink where the faucet didn't work. Then I head to the front desk to check out. All she wanted was for me to buy a mouth guard for $400+ and didn't get a free toothbrush and she didn't ask about scheduling the next visit. Great, thank you! There won't be one. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of months and I've always had good experiences. The office is clean and spacious and the staff is all really friendly. They are all accommodating and make me feel comfortable, which is hard to do in the dental setting. The dental assistant there is so nice! Always helpful and great with my daughter when I have to bring her with me to my appt. and always explains everything to me in detail. The dentist is always very welcoming as well! Has short but good conversations and has always did an excellent job when I've needed work done. The only downside is the bill I get after insurance...several people with my insurance tell me they never have to pay more than their copay but here I usually get charged copay plus more...I'm not sure how all the billing and prices go so idk what to really say about it just think it would be nice to not have to pay so much as I already pay a lot for insurance itself.... read more

I've been a patient of Dr. De la Vega for years and think she is wonderful! I love that she does a very thorough cleaning and really cares about my teeth. She never tries to sell me treatment I don't need, and always tries to be conservative and save the teeth that are in trouble. She is a great conversationalist and makes my time in the chair fun and breeze by. im sorry and i hate to post something bad!.. but like most places there has to be a pooper like me! =( i was really unsatisfied the dentist i felt had a really unprofessional attitude while she had her tools in my mouth her son was running around the office not to mention she was gossiping about someones boyfriend with her dental assistant... and last but not least she couldnt tell me a direct answer as whether she found a cavity or not?... hello?.. ummm maybe like 1?.. what maybe?... ummm im sorry so then im waiting to pay my copayment and shes chit chating in front of me and her dental assistant is the one thats like oh hold on help her first then ill tell you what i heard... i was like how much do i owe soo i can leave! ugh totally not satisfied and im very sorry for this not so good expierence! =/ read more

I had to find a new dentist for my whole family ( there are 5 of us) and was very worried but since going to our first appointment there I feel so much better. It was great. I absolutely love this place! The office is classy and clean, and the staff is professional and friendly. I am not a patient here, I only came here to support my friend. But I love how thorough the doctor examined my friend and how detailed and clear her explanations were regarding my friend's dental conditions. It's almost like being in a university class --- lectures with blown up x-rays and photos of my friends teeth on the monitor in front of the dental chair, and big models of teeth and gums too to make sure its easily understandable! I have never understood the gum disease and cavities as much as I did when I listened to the doctor explained it. The doctor and assistant looks pretty gentle too, no complaints from my nervous friend! The receptionist is also good, before my friend left the office, she has a list already of what her insurance will pay and will not probably pay. No surprise bills! I would have given them a 5 star, but they do not accept my insurance, so I give them a 4 star for now , hopefully they reconsider becoming part of my insurance network : ) . read more
