I used to rave about this place. Not anymore. They've gotten too many "awards" for their own good and customer service has gone down hill. I came in for a walk in appointment - I was told it would be a few minutes. 30 minutes later I hadn't been seen or even updated. All the while the manager played in his phone and several employees were chitchatting in the back. You provide a service. In the midst of a recession that May be starting. Customer service is what's going to keep your business afloat. Per Yelp, I've checked in and spent money here 75 times. I know there are times I didn't check in. You just lost a customer of 10 years. I've been a customer of Genesis for around 10 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The technicians are all professional, pleasant, and eager to provide excellent service. I've come twice to this place, as I wanted to make sure I could write a good review. I highly recommend this nail salon for manis, pedis, and anything else you could want! I came in at a rather busy time, but was helped right away and didn't have to wait long to have my nails done. Amy did my nails (gel x) and she did great! I was unsure if I wanted cat eye on top of my color, so she did one nail with the design to see if I really liked it or not. She was gentle and fast-paced, but did a great job! read more

Okay, hands down the best nail salon I've ever encountered. I wish I lived closer to go here monthly!! Kristine did my nails, and she was sooo great! Friendly, personable, etc etc. She helped me pick the perfect brown color for fall, and she did a wonderful job with my dip manicure. So far, I've had my manicure for 1 week, and it's still looking great. I hope to go back here as much as I can! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Things were organized and cleaned. I asked for a simple French tip with a cheetah design on two nails. Instead of being honest and saying they couldn't do it, they told me they could, but clearly, they could not. When I asked if we could just switch to a plain French because they weren't turning out how I liked, the guy actually got upset with me! Like, what?! Then he charged me $100 for a basic acrylic French set. Absolutely ridiculous. They did not listen to a single thing I said and had the nerve to make it seem like it was my fault. Not really a manicure/pedicure type girl. However, I do know it is in my best interest to get pampered and those cuticles taken care of. I researched several places because I had a couple of places to go to in the area. I went with Genesis. I called on Monday and made an appointment. Walked in, greeted, told to pick out a color, and seated. Philip was my nail tech and very friendly. The massage of my hands was very welcoming and he even did the lotion in heart shape for this Valentine's Day 2020, cute!!! I think he did an awesome job! I went and had a full set done on my hands and a pedicure. The girl who did my nails (Mia) not sure of spelling lol. Was wonderful see did exactly what I wanted and very friendly with a great personality. Would definitely let her do them again. . The pedicure wasn't as great as in it's like she was scared to touch feet. Literally ran the file across my heel once then had me rinse my own feet. read more

Great first experience here, my boyfriend knew I was looking for a new nail salon so he got me a gift card here. I was a walk-in and still didn't have to wait long before getting my nails done, even though there were a few people waiting in line before me. Very disappointed in recent service. I am a regular patron there and had to wait almost 30 minutes after my appointment time to start my service. I then had to leave before painting due to a work emergency and the quality of the 'manicure' I paid $27 for was horrible. My nails weren't filed straight and cuticles still look rough. Love this nail salon! This is my go to place for any mani/pedi needs. The manicurists do great work with acrylic and sns as well. Also Mr. Bill did my wedding nails and absolutely killed it!! I got sooo many compliments on the professional quality of these! Definitley go check him out for some cool designs. read more

I never get my nails done but wanted to treat myself for an upcoming event. I came in without an appointment at 3pm on a Wednesday. Despite the place being super busy, I was taken to a station quickly and was in and out in less than an hour. The gel manicure I got looked amazing and has lasted so long. I will be back! I came here for my wedding nails and they went above and beyond. I brought in a picture from Pinterest, and I wasn't sure if they were able to do it. The owner took my nails on and made it happen. They did SNS on my nails to strengthen them and make them longer. Then using gel nail polish she was able to get the color and the glitter I wanted. The nails lasted 3 weeks, and removal was a breeze. He made she my nails were shaped and buffered so they still looked nice after the SNS nails were removed. They do a good job every time I have come here! And I'll be coming back for any nail needs. read more

Booked an appointment ahead of time for Saturday 10AM. Our party was seated immediately to start our pedicure. The service was very friendly and made us feel right at home. My pedicure and nail cleaning and shine took about 1 hour. My feet felt so soft and pampered afterwards. I have the ugliest toenails in the world. I don't even have a 5th toenail and somehow they created a toenail with the happy pink nail polish. There are tons of colors to chose from. My fingernails shined in a way I never knew was possible. The total cost was $45. I appreciate the way they treated my hands and feet. They held them like they were precious treasure. read more

My nails are okay. But they aren't what I wanted or asked for. The lady who did my nails did not listen to me. She ask if I wanted my nails cut and I replied "no I want to keep the length and just file for shape" She then proceeds to cut my nails. Additionally, I asked for no or very little filing on the top of my nails (I don't care if my dip powder doesn't stay as long!) she then ignored my request and filed the top of my natural nails, which were already thin. A "just okay" experience. I was not acknowledged when I arrived and signed in. I perused the polishes and was preparing to take a seat in the waiting area before someone inquired as to what service I needed (a pedicure). The pedicure was...just okay. It was not what I was expecting for the price and, quite frankly, the location. I won't go into the details of what a typical pedicure entails, but when I noticed the person servicing me was breezing through my pedicure and skipping some steps, I asked her about it. After my feet were dried and moisturized, she went back and executed those skipped steps (which would have been better to do while my feet were still soft from the water). This did not feel all that pleasant:/ The subsequent massage and polish were just okay. I sat at the drying station near the door for about 20 minutes. I observed the staff saying "hello" and "goodbye" to customers as they came and went. As I left, no one said a word (and I went through all the trouble of internalizing my disappointment with pedicure and everything!). Nail shops are a dime a dozen in this area, so I can easily say that I won't return to this one (not that I think they would care if I came back). It was not a particularly bad experience at all, but there are so many other places that charge the same rates and do a better job. Not to mention that many of those other places would actually appreciate my business. I'll still give two stars because the location is clean and conveniently located. read more

Had a good experience getting a pedicure here today. I have been looking for a new nail salon since I moved to Birmingham several months ago. I got the signature pedicure, which was $45 (a little higher than I'm used to but may be normal for Birmingham). The place is really cute inside with a nice atmosphere. Well decorated etc. Also a good location in Homewood near a lot of other restaurants and stuff. Staff is very friendly. When I got here early Saturday morning the place was packed but they got to me very quickly. My service was quick but not rushed. They have a LOT of staff working which made the place run very efficiently. I was pleased with the quality of the service (just a little more than I'm used to paying for similar services in other cities). Overall I'm very pleased and would plan to come back! read more

2 stars because my toenails looked better when I left. The tech was rude. He asked what color & I said light pink. He said "Well I don't know what that is." Okayyyyy, bring me the chart instead of acting oblivious. The vibe was uncomfortable and awkward if you're not a 22 year old yt girl. The pedicure itself was mediocre. All in all .. this is purely my opinion as someone who (typically, but not this time) gets a pedicure every 2-3 weeks. read more

Since I was in need of an electrolysis session, I figured I'd take advantage. Zainab replied to my initial email inquiry 8 later. No issue there since I had plenty of time before arriving in Birmingham. We set my appointment for 30 Oct at 2pm. Arriving 15 minutes early, the receptionist indicated which way I should head. I knocked on the door; however, there was no answer, so I thought perhaps Z was treating another client. I went back towards the reception desk asking for the ladies room. After being done in the LR, I headed back to Z's office. (note: I was wearing my face mask & had my cell phone in my hand as was hoping I could charge it since the battery was very low). I knocked on the door again. Z opens the door (no face mask nor shield, no gloves), looking a bit frazzled made me think she had been napping. I said hello & her response to me was "Darlene?" No smile, no "hi"...nothing. She was abrupt and off-putting. Honestly, my initial reaction was to tell her how rude she came across, then to walk off, but I really wanted to have treatment for my chin hairs. I replied with "No, I'm Lola, I have an appt @ 2pm." Again she just looked at me with a puzzled expression, and repeats "are you Darlene, my 1 o'clock appointment? I repeated that my name is Lola, and I added, I don't know about Darlene, but I'm Lola. Then she tells me that her 1 appt never showed up and asks me "do you have a 1 o'clock appt?" Clearly, Z was all kinds of confused. I figured, she's an older woman and obviously, I woke her up from her mid-day nap...I'll cut her some slack and get this quick 15min session over with. I walk in, set my bag on a chair beside a small table and that's when I noticed the available outlet so asked her if I could charge my phone. She doesn't reply, so I said "I'll take that as a yes?" In a curt manner, Z replies "I guess so" I'm thinking, this chick has got the worst attitude !! Before taking my place on the bed/table to begin my treatment, I asked her if she would sanitize her hands before we got started. That immediately set her off. She sanitized them and grabbed for her plastic facial shield, then turning to face me, pointing to her face shield, says "if this is not ok with you, then you can leave"......again, here I wanted to walk out, but I didn't. The treatment starts and I take off my mask, showing her the hairs along my chin. She asked me if I'd had electrolysis before and though she was still less than friendly, at least I appreciated she was curious about my experience with the mode of hair removal. She also went about to make an assessment about my skincare regimen (sounding judgmental about my pigmentation, she must not have realized that I have freckles - ones I'm are quite fond of). At one point I mentioned that being from NYC, I've had all kinds of electrolysis and I was curious about her training. She defiantly mentioned she was schooled in London and said "if that's good enough". Dude, chill out!! End of the session came. Z dabbed a bit of witch hazel on my treated areas. I said "merci, merci" (because she told me she's Iranian - that's a whole other conversation). That was the ONLY light hearted moment she let out a small chuckle. When I get off the table, I commented to her about the "you can leave" remark. She retorted that since I had asked her about sanitizing her hands, she wanted me to know that she had a face shield and that I could leave if that wasn't acceptable. I told her that her remark was off putting. I also reminded her that she was less than cordial when she "greeted" me at the door. Her reasoning: "I was startled." To which I replied, "well, you didn't even say 'hello' and normally one would greet a customer by saying 'hi' or 'hello'.... Z replied: then I guess I'm not normal I paid with my credit card (ZERO tip) and walked out. Final note: I had sent to her a follow up email to inquire about methods of payment she accepts (cash, check, credit card, debit card, Venmo) because I wanted to be sure I was prepared and I usually do not carry much cash on hand. She did not respond to that email, so I sent a follow up request about 1/2 day later....still no response. I would NOT recommend her service. She did not thank me for my patronage and gave the impression she was doing me a favor. You couldn't pay me any amount of money to return. Z has zero affability and an absolutely awful bedside manner!!

I have never been to this spa so when I called I requested someone who would be more gentle. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and I was checked in, and then I was shown where the sitting area is and where the changing area is. They do have lockers to put up your personal belongings then they give you a plush robe to wear, and you can get a drink of choice. I choose Moscato wine and I also had some water Dandi was my masseuse and she was fabulous. The room was gently lit with some amazing spa music. When you first pull into the summit, it's going to be your first right and it's located near Ann Taylor. I will definitely be back sooner than later.

Initially, I was told the discoloration was normal bruising and was advised to use a bruise cream. I was also told it would likely resolve within a few weeks. However, the mark remains visible five months later. What has been most disappointing is not simply that a complication occurred, as I understand every cosmetic procedure carries risks. My concern is that there was no meaningful discussion beforehand about the possibility of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and when the discoloration persisted, I was not provided with a clear treatment plan, timeline, refund, or other corrective action. I reached out multiple times, provided photographs, and expressed concern about the persistence of the pigmentation. While I received reassurance that the area was healing, I was not given specific recommendations beyond continued observation. The discoloration has improved somewhat but remains noticeable. Had I been fully informed that a visible mark could persist for five months or longer, I would have weighed my decision differently. I hope that by January (a year later) my scar will resolve. I additionally had paid for 6 colonics upfront but have been hesitant about returning. They have not reached out or followed up with me whatsoever. It's a loss and I feel insecure about this. I encourage prospective clients to ask detailed questions about the risks of pigmentation changes, expected recovery timelines, and what support is available if complications occur.

I went in to meet Dana and she was very nice and helpful. She suggested that we start with a facial and then add other things as we move forward. She also said she would do some research on things that I am currently using to see if I can continue or need to change. There is cute sign of the name of the business on the outside and the inside is clean and very inviting. The receptionist was nice and tried to accommodate me as much as possible with scheduling upcoming visits. I will keep you all posted.
