Tao stood out for how knowledgeable he was. First, he was clearly knowledgeable. Based on photos alone, he corrected me that the wood was not mahogany (as our home inspector said) but instead Brazilian cherry. I verified that he was correct with the listing agent. No other company did this. Second, he had the lowest quoted price for the job. Third, after I selected him, he was transparent about tradeoffs rather than purely trying to upsell me. For example, he quoted me on installing wood registers everywhere when I asked, but recommended I do so only in the hallways. This advice saved me $1k and delivered a result in very happy with. Our GC recommended we go with Tan's Floor Service, and we're SO GLAD we did!!! Tony and his team are incredibly kind and competent. A few areas in particular that stood out to us: 1. Repairs were done beautifully. an 1870 house has a lot of different types of floors from 150 years of repairs... Tony's team matched the flooring very well (super thoughtful in the wood they chose). 2. Midway through the project, we decided we needed to replace the stairs. A lot of them were cracking, and moving in with two kids we decided now was the time to do it. Tony's team expertly replaced the stairs, including putting in the crown molding. 3. They are not liable for damages to your home, including wiring and plumbing. They use subcontractors. Our installer was awful and that's why we rejected the install and canceled the contract. He showed up 3 hours later than what he personally told us, he had old carpet and padding stacked on top of our new carpet (no protective barrier) and one of the carpets was incorrect. You have (3) days to electronically cancel your contract and a different date to mail your certified letter to cancel. We weren't willing to take the gamble after the first installer experience and so glad we read the cancelation policy. Good luck!

They did a terrible job with my flooring left epoxy and glue smears destroyed my base boards didn't install transitions correctly overlapped transitions onto my stairs I can't even reinstall my banister. Not to mention the install men barely spoke English and understood it even less. When I complained to install the manager wouldn't even call me back spoke to some guy that basically told me the install manager Dave said I'm stuck with it. I was told I would have to pay more to have it done correctly. Well here's my husband now ripping up this flooring to install it correctly. Definitely don't use Empire we wasted 3200.00 on flooring we had do redo ourselves
