Have used this store with very good results for multiple window screens and paint as their price on Benjamin Moore is better. One note - they do not participate in Illinois' PaintCare program and will not accept multiple items listed on PaintCare's site (which I said they are not part of) and they do charge for paint recycling. For no cost paint, other recycling, go across the street to JC Licht. Otherwise Ace is a friendly place with good products and services. read more

Walked in around 1500. Looked around for what I needed. Then looked around for things I didn't need. An employee asked if I needed help. In that phrasing that implies say, "no". I asked about toilet seats. I went a slightly different way then she did. I was 10 seconds late. She found me by the toilet seats. I asked if the newer toilet seats, the kind with the twist to unlock/ lock would fit on my older toilet. I pointed to the screw type that was on display. She said the twist and remove would fit any toilet because they all need a screw (threads). I asked to see the connection between the twist and remove toilet seat. She tried but couldn't remove it to show me the connection type. We tried but it wouldn't come off. She changed the subject to seat shape. I knew the shape I needed. This is not what I asked about. I asked if there was anything we could do. She said no that it was a permanent display. Just about then the twist lock/ unlock seat came loose from the "permanent" connection. I could see the connection was a post and didn't have threads. She was inventing answers to a question she couldn't answer. She could have said, "I'm not sure let me ask another employee". She could have admitted she didn't know. There are millions of things I don't know. But I can say, "I'll check a source" or "Let ask someone else to seek another opinion". Had I accepted her "knowledge" I would have purchased the wrong seat. Try and inevitably failed at home, then have to return it. I asked a gentleman employee a few minutes later if he knew of away to remove glue from fake tile. I was looking at the Goo Gone products. He wasn't sure. He told me so (didn't pretend to know - opposite from above). I then said, changing the subject, I had cleaned my vinyl floor with soap and water and it had left a permanent haze on the vinyl. I didn't know I needed to use a special product. I'm a renter so was unaware of the proper solution to clean these floors. He did some research and we agreed on a course of action. He was very pleasant to interact with. I went to the cashier to buy three items. Asked and I gave my phone number. She scanned the items and I paid. She then started to put my items in a bag. I said, "I don't need a bag". The items were at the counter and I had stepped away to scan my card. The receipt came out. She laid it on the items and walked away. She didn't hand me the 3 small items with the receipt, the receipt, or even shove the stuff closer I could gather it up. She just walked away. I said, "wow!" Then gathered my things and left. 3 stars for the gentleman. If you can, go to the Ace on Randell Rd in Batavia. read more

This is definitely one of the nicer Ace stores to shop in. Other stores seem cluttered, & hard to find items. This store is well organized, with a welcoming, hometown feel to it. I also love their garden section, & kitchen area. I got great service while shopping there today, especially from Bonnie at the checkout counter. She was patient with me, & took the time to answer some questions I had about a purchase. Would rather shop here, than at the typical big box stores. I go to Ace Hardware for that extra special touch I cannot find at the big box store. They are a hardware store with a litte of everything and with a little more on line. I find that the service is excellent too. As I wear a prosthesis, I find the building is just right size to get around and to find what you are looking for. We are having a room painted and needed another gallon of paint. The paint company changed the numbering on the can just a little bit so two or three of the associates came together to double and triple check the code on the paint can before he mixed the color. The associate who waited on us shared stories as we waited for the paint to mix. As we leave a line has formed at one of the cash registers so another associate steps forward to make sure you are taken care of immediately. They check to see if you are a member of the rewards club and they double or triple bag your order if needed. Ace is still the place to find what you are looking for and what earns me as a continued customer. read more

They are the most courteous people and super friendly . They have a great variety of products. I give them 5 stars. Does not get better than this. Customer service is first and foremost, and it's shows. Instead of looking for someone to help you. They find you to help. And it's real help because the staff knows it (Stuff) I cant stress how important it is for a customer that does know a particular skill set, the help is there. If you know what you need, they still help by getting you in and out fast. In closing don't think for a second that all Ace's are the same. This store is far,far superior to the ACE in Batavia IL. That store is a complete joke and disgrace to the ACE brand. Night and day to this store just a short drive away. read more

Not the "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks" today. I usually like these "local" stores vs big box when I need someone with patience for a project or question I have due to my lack of experience/knowledge. You do this everyday, we your customer don't. It's your skill/business. Please don't be dismissive if I have a question you've never heard before. Also, sometimes people shop for others (wives for husbands) and don't know all the answer to the questions you ask. Not the best experience here today. read more

My mom stopped in to the store on Saturday morning (12/24/16) to have some spare keys cut for her vehicle as she had lost a few of her spares over time as her vehicle is now several years old. The service at the store was initially great - friendly, courteous and prompt. No complaints there. Fast forward to Monday when my mom actually tried to use one of the new keys to ensure that they worked and the first key she tried became stuck in the ignition and would not come out. The Toyota dealership told her that they could not help and she would need a locksmith. $195 later and the key finally was freed from the ignition. My mom called the store the following morning to explain the situation and was told that a manager would follow up with her that day. Nobody called that day. My mom finally got in touch with the store on Wednesday morning and was told that she must have inserted the key into the ignition improperly and that they were not liable. Are you kidding me? After 40 years of driving and having owned over 30 vehicles (most of them brand new) in her lifetime, I don't think that it's fair to imply that she is essentially an idiot who doesn't know how to turn a vehicle on! If that were the case, this situation likely would have occurred in the past with other keys but it has not. I'm a huge proponent of supporting locally owned and operated businesses but I won't do business again. Your store cut the key, the key was cut incorrectly and the incorrectly cut key was the proximate cause of the key becoming stuck in the ignition. You are therefore liable. All she asked for was her locksmith fee and the cost of the keys the store had made back. If you didn't want to accept responsibility you could have at least just said "no" and not insulted someone's intelligence. read more

Had an awful experience. I rented two concession machines and was able get the machines on time as requested. However as I attempted to return the machines and get the deposit back the employees did not know how to transfer the deposit back to my credit card or return the machines (?). I spent 45 minutes waiting for the cashier attempt to figure out (contacting someone on the phone and begging me to take a store credit because she knew how to do this) how to provide the deposit back per the rental agreement, only to be told that I would need to come back to the store the following day when the manager was available. When I told them that this conflicted with my work schedule and requested having the manager contact me by phone, I was handed the managers business card with a blank stare with no response. I have usually had good experiences with this store, but needless to say they have lost my business and I highly do not recommend renting anything from them. read more

I purchased a Weber grill from this location and my experience with them was phenomenal! The grill that I wanted was not stocked by any Ace Hardware around me so they went the extra mile to go and pick up the model I was looking for. They priced matched a lower price, assembled and delivered the grill as well as taking away my old one. Brian was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Bought paint for a bedroom and hired painters to apply paint. The color in the can looked off from the sample, but I was assured it would dry the correct color. Painters applied the paint and I didn't see the bedroom until it was done. What was supposed to be a cream color turned into bright yellow. I returned to Ace to buy additional paint for that room and what color they mixed was completely different from the first can. The first can was mixed wrong, and I now have a room that has been painted the wrong color. I'm out money for paint, supplies, and paying painters. Ace admitted they made an error. Their solution was to give me 15% off any supplies i needed to fix the room. I ended up with 1 can of free paint. While i understand human error, I do not feel i was compensated correctly for their error. After spending hundreds of dollars in your store the past few weeks, I will never spend a penny in your store again. read more

This is absolutely the nicest hardware store on the planet. Beautifully set up, knowledgeable, friendly assistance, well stocked and immaculate throughout. Visited Ace Hardware in Geneva for a water fountain, staff were great & helpful, they promised someone would call following day to confirm they had put everything together on the items held. Visited store again and served by Zack, who basically told us we were mistaken and parts that we actually touched never existed in the store - poor sales and customer service. read more

Tried to rent a power washer this weekend. The nozzles were shot on the first one and had to return it for another one. Got the second one home and had engine problems. Here's the '5 star' part: when I called to complain about the second one, I got a very heartfelt apology, a full refund, and the store manager came to my house (seriously!) to see if he could get it working. When it still failed, he took it back and told me to call next week for a complimentary rental. Sure, I was frustrated, but renting is always a crap shoot and now way would the big hardware stores provide that level of service. read more

This review is for the garden center.......kudos to whomever is in charge because the plants were in great condition, and there was plenty to choose from! I usually plant my annuals over mother's day, and have spent a considerable amount of time at the big box stores. Everything was already picked over and what was left was in poor condition. I randomly stopped by here on a whim, and left with $100 worth of beautiful flowers. I am so excited to see how these grow! read more

Wish I could give a zero. I brought my mother's screen door in to have the screen replaced. The gentleman at the counter told me 1 week tops. 3 weeks later I called to check if it was done. They told me "John" would call me back. John called a few days later and said the wheels needed to be replaced. I said OK how much. Total $85.00, a little steep but OK. 2 more weeks go by and they tell it's ready. When I took it out of my car it folded in half corner to corner. I brought it back and told John either fix it or I'd like my money back because it was not like this when I brought it in to them.The next day the manager called me and asked me what my problem was.(wow) I said I don't have a problem I just want my screen fixed. He said nothing is wrong with it. I said I'll be there in 5 minutes. Well I'm leaving. I'll be there in 5 minutes I repeated. When I got there the screen was out now and the old wheels back in. He said nothing wrong with it. I couldn't believe he was sitting there trying to tell me it was fine. George Havlicek, I will never set foot in your store while Robert is your manager. I had a return Saturday January 28th for a lock set I bought. It was pretty clear when I bought it that the package had been opened, but it was the last one of this syle. The person helping me told me if there was anything wrong I could always return it. Well sure enough when I got home and the package open the striker was missing and the screws that hold it together were gone. I brought the item back and the gentlman that helped me said the manager could refund my money. I patienly waited as the manager discussed hockey tickets with a friend of his. When the manager finished quickly exited claiming he had to get going. The store employee siad he could sell me replacement parts. I want to reurn this item, it has been 3 weeks at least 6 phone calls and manager still won't call me back. Say what you want about big block stores, but at least they take returns and exchange products that are faulty. read more
