Jim took time to explain to me the difference in the connectors for the hose attached to the reel and the connector for the hose attached to the water faucet outside the house. If he did not help me I would have had to make another trip back to Home Depot because I was ready to purchase the wrong hose with the wrong connectors. We love Home Depot and yet we were horribly disappointed with our last visit. I needed a 6x6 for a home project and when we got to the store we found the piece of lumber we needed. I tried to move it without success and and older man who worked there offered help putting it on a cart. I then said I needed a 3 foot piece cut off the 8 foot piece. He said the saw was broken that day, i then asked could he have cut it if their saw wasn't broken and he said nope its not big enough. I asked how do you sell lumber you can't cut and he said thats just how it is. Now I head home call Lumber 84 in Naperville and lay out my situation, the guy there says the piece of wood I need is in stock and 8 dollars cheaper than Home Depot. I then asked could he cut it and he said sure thing but it might take some work. We get there and I actually talked to the guy I called, and he rang up the piece of wood and said it would be a few minutes to get it cut. He took me in back and asked if the wood was good and I said yes. He then used a standard Dewalt miter saw and cut halfway through the wood flipped it over and finished the cut. We were out the door with the wood I needed in no time flat. I just don't understand how Home Depot doesnt know this oversize wood cutting secret. So if you need lumber at a cheaper price and cut to order got to Lumber 84 where the customer service is awesome and the prices are way cheaper. read more

Purchased a new LG refrigerator and dishwasher from Home Depot. The refrigerator is freezing all fresh vegetables. The technician said that they needed to replace a part that is on back order. The first dishwasher leaked all over my floor within 20 minutes from the time it was installed yet it took 5 days for Home Depot to come back out to pull it out causing damage to my kitchen floor and cabinets. It was replaced with a new LG dishwasher that also leaked and would not turn off without shutting off the breaker. Now the 3rd dishwasher has been installed a GE. and it is finally working with no issues but it doesn't match the refrigerator that we are stuck with. read more

Gabby Home Depot I want to thank Gabby in the flooring department of Home Depot in Geneva, Illinois for her outstanding efforts in helping me make the decision to purchase luxury vinyl tile planks for the second floor of my house. We decided on luxury vinyl planks after numerous trips to Home Depot where the flooring personal explained that hardwood and laminate flooring is not waterproof, or scratch proof. I reviewed hundreds of vinyl tiles and room visualizers on my phone and computer and ordered samples. My first choice was Life Proof Trail Oak 6 ml. However, after researching luxury vinyl planks. I discovered that 6 ml is not durable enough for a dog. You need a minimum of 20 ml. My second choice was to purchase a 20 ml wide plank because it was on sale. I ordered samples and decided on one of the colors. However, the manufacturer did not yet manufacture a stair nose for the color of plank I selected. Gabby made numerous phone calls to the manufacturer and contacted me each day to inform me of her calls and to inform me of other luxury vinyl plank options. I came in Sunday to purchase the brand without the stair nose. When I arrived, Gabby showed me a Life Proof 22 ml luxury vinyl plank like my first choice. It was beautiful and 22ml. However, I wanted the planks that were on sale, despite the fact the manufacture did not yet have stair noses for the product. Gabby showed me pages of figures that the planks I wanted to purchase, even though they were on sale, cost 3x as much for the quarter round, and room transitions as the Life Proof luxury vinyl planks, she recommended, and that is without the stair noses, which were not available. The total cost of the luxury vinyl planks that I wanted and were on sale would cost me $785.00 more than the Life Proof luxury vinyl planks she recommended without the stair noses. I took two of the Life Proof planks home that Gabby recommended, and my wife and I thought they were beautiful. I came back to make the purchase because of Gabby's outstanding efforts. We are looking for new flooring because our 23-month-old 75 lb. Labrador/shepherd mix has continued to relieve himself and tear up the rugs and stairs on the second floor. He has also scraped and chewed the custom red oak hardwood floor on our first floor. He has also chewed the leather furniture in the living room and family room furniture, the dining room chairs, and the end tables and the custom milled woodwork and the doors. This is a solid Home Depot. My husband, father in law, and I have visited about 1000 times in the past few months we've been home owners haha! The store is clean and well stocked. There is various Covid safety precautions throughout the store as well. The staff here is knowledgeable and available to help. They're HAPPY to help. I realize this isn't always the case at other locations and we really appreciate it. Recently, we visited to get supplies for a fence we were building. We purchased everything from here including: treated lumber, auger rental, concrete, buckets, etc. Associates offered us help each time with all of our supplies. I'm talking heavy lifting help and everyone kept a smile. We're happy to support this store and with all of our additional home projects, you know we'll be back! read more

If you require a plumber to install a faucet, I suggest not buying from home depot. I bought 2 faucets to install by plumber, cost me 310.00 to install, two weeks later the faucet started leaking, bought a replacement. Cost me another 130.00 to install. So I ordered two new faucets, spoke to customer service, they gave me 50.00 off the new ones, but I had a 10% off coupon which would have given me the same credit. So basically home depot did nothing to recitify selling cheap product. They don't offer installation probably for this reason. Buyer beware... I even wrote corporate no response from them. I am remodeling my kitchen was going to use them for my materials not any more. read more

I'm done with this location. It's a mess, nice all over, and I've now gone in twice to buy a lock set to be keyed and they have one person only that does that. I have never had a problem at this home Depot store before. Today I bought a $200 set of Ryobi tools. I asked a man to unlock it for me. He kept asking if it was the last thing I needed to purchase and then he followed me around. He waited and watched me as I got a phone call and then waited close by all the way to me paying for it and then he went away. I think he thought I was trying to steal or something it was very uncomfortable not sure if employees are required to do that for the items they have to lock up but it was a very odd experience. read more

2 stars because the manager was nice :) Left without paint: a result of the woman at the paint counter telling me she couldn't make my color choice lighter because it was a busy Saturday *gesturing to the line behind me that I also stood in*. When another employee offered her a break or help for my paint she snapped back at him with "oh no, you don't want this one." And all the pleasant words & gestures in between. Ending with me walking AROUND to the other side where she took my brought-in paint to please request it back so I could leave. She went ahead and told the customer in front of me to have a great day! I stood at the door, wave at the people dropping it off, they stood there and took a pic/video of the entrance next to mine and claimed no one opened the door for them!! They proceeded to state they CANT COME BACK UNTIL NEXT WEEK because they marked the destination as complete?!! Wtf?!? Complete?!! Where the hell is the fridge? Where is the installment?? My wife had purchased a gift card for me at The Home Depot over the holidays. I had inadvertently tossed it away while picking up afterwards and didn't realize unlike days later when we were looking for it. My fault entirely and honestly I thought nothing we could do. On advice, my wife checked with the grocery store she purchased at, got a dupe receipt and we called Home Depot Customer Care to see if they might possibly be able to fInd in the system, void and reissue? They said we might have an avenue, documented and sent us to our local store in Geneva to see if they could help. They took my name and information, called back a day later and said they could not find the card in the system (hard to do when you purchase at a store outside of HD as they only had limited card information and no transactional record) but given the circumstances they (Manager) would just reissue me a new gift card. This was well above and beyond what I would have expected. They didn't have to do this - I understood completely why it was difficult to track, confirm and I dropped the ball in the first place by discarding the card through my own carelessness. What resonated with me was they just listened. They took the time to care and look into .. not just some blow off form response. The reissuing wIthout being able to find/void the original was again well above and beyond what I would have expected from anyone. Do not use their credit service. Citi bank will rob you. they randomly drained my account, it took 2 days to get my money back and then they hit me for a missed payment. They just randomly added over 4k to one of my card balanced. I don't know how the hell they get away with this. STAY AWAY In less than 3 months they took my credit score from a 740 to a 590. The bolts I needed were mixed in different places. 1 of the bolts was used, had wood in threads and head was scuffed up. Cashier could not count and over charged me. She could not correct the problem so I had to go to customer service. No apology, more worried about gabbing with coworkers at the customer service area. A simple 10 minute shopping experience turned in to an hour and 15 minutes. I had to go to Mernards to get the rest of the bolts I needed. Always considered Menards the Walmart (dump) and Lowes and Home Depot the Target (higher end). We just purchased $4500 in a bathroom vanity and a LG refrig. Never again. I can't STAND this store. We purchased a dishwasher and paid extra money to have it installed by THEIR services as well as a 5 year warranty. Two years ago, when they installed it, they put it in wrong. Our floors started to warp because water was leaking from the dishwasher underneath our floors. Our ENTIRE downstairs was ruined and it took them 6 MONTHS to resolve a mistake they made. I was on the phone every single day. Had I not, they would have never called me. Every person I talked to had no answers for me and no one was affiliated with anyone else. Anytime I spoke to anyone from Home Depot about it I would always get the same response.."sorry not our problem once you file a claim". Now the heater in my dishwasher is broken. A technician came out to fix it, after I had to call multiple times because they kept canceling on me and rescheduling me without even TALKING to me, he said he needed to order two parts to fix it. I received one part still waiting for the other. And here we go again same old song and dance...He doesn't return my calls..his phone is ALWAYS off, won't respond to my texts, I am given numbers to call but everyone is ROBOTS. Can't actually talk to a person. When I do call a number and get a person same thing as last time..we don't know...sorry I can't see...I'll get back to you. No one gives a shit yet for some stupid reason I paid EXTRA for these bullshit services. Next morning home depot calls and says its not in stock. So I ask for manager. Manager says its in stock. But can not pick up for atleast a week. They cannot even answer their phones and direct a call without 30+ minutes being invested by the caller. Called to make the change the day after the order. Called two week later to confirm. Receive delivery notice that they were coming this Saturday. Yep, still wrong address so I called. I was told correct address in the system. Saturday AM had the old refrigerator sold and picked up. All food in coolers on ice packs. Driver for delivery company calls. Yep, wrong address and he can't deliver as per company policy. Called HD and they said nothing they can do until Monday. I will cancel the order and NEVER order from HD AGAIN. read more

I saw 2 other people also walk away without paint. The man behind the counter was doing a good job-he just needed help. I asked for Jeremy, the manager, but he never arrived. I also wanted to purchase a vacuum cleaner and it was advertised but not in stock. I was willing to buy the floor model but was not allowed to. Clearly they have no interest in my business. There is a Walmart, Target and Menards near by-and they all sell paint. This Home Depot saved the day. Shortly after we moved into our new home, a basement drain clogged. Our home is 100+ years old, so who knows how long it had been since the pipes were rodded out - if ever. My dad and husband went to Home Depot in Aurora to rent some equipment to rod the pipes, but the Aurora store did not have the equipment available. Geneva to the rescue! Although the employee was initially wrong, and rented the wrong size to them, he was apologetic when they returned for the size they'd originally asked for, and we were not charged for the extra rental hours. It was a time consuming, smelly, gross project, but at the end of the day we spent around $100 for something that a plumber would have charged more than triple that. I stopped in the Geneva store last weekend to purchase some spray paint. I also picked up some paint samples, ogled some chandeliers, and got slightly sidetracked thinking of a ton of other home improvement projects...yeah, I'll be back. read more

I had the worst shopping experience of my life in this store a few months ago when I decided to go in on a sunday morning right when the store opened to buy some paint. Now I'm not going to quote verbatim the horrendous exchange that took place between myself and the two employees working behind the paint counter that morning. I don't want to get into the amount of time I spent listening to the manager of the store lie to my face as though I were born yesterday. Yes I will spare anyone reading this a play-by-play of the hour and forty five minutes I spent in this god forsaken store in which all I wanted to do was give them $300 of my money and leave with paint. Yes It would take me far too long to fully explain, plus I'd end up in an angry unproductive rant. So instead I've decided to point out 3 very simple facts. 1. If you employ the type of people who are unhappy with their lack of achievement in life, yet do nothing to better themselves, your business will suffer. 2. I've worked retail for the past 16 years of my life 12 of which in a management role. During that time span I've never once asked to "speak to a manager" in any store I've shopped at. Isn't my style, plus most "issues" can be sensibly resolved with anyone. This store sadly was the exception. And the manager was just as bad as the rest of the staff. 3. My older brother is a higher up employee for home depot, like in charge of many, many people in North America higher up employee. He has asked me a handful of times over the past 12 years, why don't I shop at Home Depot? After this experience I can honestly tell him I'll never shop there again. read more

I came in yesterday with my younger sister so we could start looking for paint colors for my bedroom, the kitchen, and one of our bathrooms. My sister and I were a little clueless about what to do, and we were hoping someone could help. There were certainly employees nearby, but they all just looked at us like we were a nuisance. Not once did an employee ask us if we needed help, which was really hurtful because we were pretty clueless about paint. When we tried to go over to the paint counter to ask for help, the line was so long that we were told it would be nearly 45 minutes until we could get help. The parking lot is absolutely awful. I was almost hit about 3 times just trying to maneuver around. Not to mention that the massive garden stuff in the middle of the lot takes up about half of the parking. They charged our account $100 deposit (even though we did use their faulty equipment) and now I have to wait 3-5 business days to get it back. Is that fair????? She too was more than accommodating when I showed up a day later with a different take on my project.
