We met Larry at the Door section of the store and he showed us multiple door choices that matched our needs and scheduled a visit by the installer to determine the necessary millwork that would be needed to complete the work. The installer determined the materials and necessary labor so Larry could provide a quote for the total job. As this was in November weather was an issue with being able to work. I needed a work permit from Hoffman Estates and after a few inquiries with Larry talking with the permit department I secured the permit and the work was scheduled. The install took 2 workers for several hours to remove and install the new door and it was very cold and dark but they had lights to help. We couldnt believe it was finished before the major snow storm just in time. Great job by Larry on following all the details and answering the questions to secure the permit plus the installers working late in the dark and cold to finish the job. Looks great and we are extremely pleased with the Home Depot level of service and attention. All future home needs with be with Home Depot. A nightmare from start to finish…read more We purchased a dishwasher. Turns out the door was extremely difficult to open and close. When my husband called the number to call with any problems he was told the door was defective and the machine needed to be replaced. OK. Fast forward to the next week. The crew came to include the installer. Although my husband turned off the main water supply he specifically told the installer to turn the water supply off under the sink because there could be accumulated water in the line. The installer said no need to do that and did it his way. At that point water started to gush out and we both were scrambling to grab bath towels to clean up the mess. In addition, they scratched the tile on the floor when pushing the refrigerator back in. The next day my husband noticed that the kick plate was crooked. He went to straighten it out and realized that only one side was screwed in. That prompted him to take a flash light and look underneath. Turns out the grounding wire was not connected. I hope people understand how serious that is plus none of the wires were taped. Also, the metal junction box to cover the wires was missing. My husband went to the store and talked to a manager. We then received a call that a different person would come the following week to correct the electrical issue and to bring a junction box. He also confirmed the delivery date and a reminder to bring the junction box with their BOT. The following week the THIRD crew came to our house. The grounding wire issue was corrected and the wires were taped. Now, where is the metal junction box? The drivers don't have it. One showed me the info that the warehouse receives directly from the store. It did NOT include the instructions to bring the junction box. My husband then went to the store and was given one. He then came home and completed the final steps of the dishwasher installation. We have purchased all of the appliances in our home from Home Depot. Our last two came with delivery/installation issues. This will be the last time that we purchase any appliances from Home Depot.

She had the receipts, and there was a dedicated customer service/return line. Chris was the associate that helped her, and he did a good job. He made sure each box was legit and then easily put the charge back in the original form of payment. Lowes competes with Menards and Home Depot in this area, and it always seems to be the least busy. It is fully staffed, so easy to find help...but I always wonder how well they are doing.

The box didn't look like it had been previously opened. The return was easy, and we bought another rod that looked just like it. Again, we brought it home, and there was no hardware included. This is where it gets frustrating. I took it back again, asked if they could open another box at the store and see if they had the hardware, which it did. I assumed the customer service rep would just give me the hardware, and at some point take the rest of the boxes off the shelves and contact the manufacturer. He said something about not being able to give me something from an open box, and they could give me the brackets but not the mounting screws? I think there might have been a language barrier with this employee. At this point I just took the brackets out of the box, told him it didn't make any sense, and left. (I knew we had screws at home.) What was supposed to be a few hours hanging a curtain rod actually took all day. We won't go back to Lowes again.

I did research the lumens I would need for good light....too many lumens can look very blue, so I downgraded about 25% for the space. It was perfect. That same friendly, helpful young lady was working the cash register. It took less than 1/2 hour from the time I made the call until my grandson hit the slopes. Sure it sounds routine and not worth a review, but it served as an another reminder for me of the extra value of going to an independent Ace Hardware store, rather than the major chains. I had ran in to a Walmart store along the way. Although I very rarely frequent them, I figured a big store like that would have a sled. They did not, and they sure weren't sorry they couldn't help me. What a difference! I googled "sleds near me" when I was in the Bloomingdale area, and this store popped up. Who knew a hardware store would be the place to buy a sled? Nice sized clean store, wonderful people, in stock, affordable.
