We went to the St. Charles location. The place is very nice and big, lots of seating and parking. We had a short wait, but there are things to see, shop, there's a bar, etc. I like to see the collection of wine displays. We frequently go to the St. Charles Coopers Hawk location for dinner. We decided to go and eat in so that we could receive our two bottles of wine for dining in. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Marisol was our server. She was friendly, efficient and made sure we had a lovely dinner. We were sitting on the patio with just one other couple, and she was attentive to our every needs with a smile and fun comments. The appetizers that we had from the Wine O'clock Happy Hour menu were superb: Four cheese truffle arancini, crispy tempura shrimp and melt in your mouth shaved prime sliders! Becoming members here was one of our best marriage choices ever. Cooper's Hawk provides a consistently excellent go-to for date night. It has the best wine in the area with no markup on bottles... amazing. The tastings are always a highlight of the visit but I will also say that the staff here is older, more experienced, and all around fantastic... such a plus in restaurants. They know us by name! It's clear that Cooper's Hawk treats their staff well because retention is high, even through the pandemic. I even know of someone who worked here through a difficult cancer journey and Cooper's Hawk management was incredibly supportive throughout. One more reason to be so happy to support them. All the food is great but if you're stumped then get the Brussels sprout appetizer, medallion trio and truffles for dessert on your way out. I had never been to this location just happened to be in town for a team meeting. I'm so glad this was the chosen place to eat. I watch a lot of food network television and they always talk about braised ribs and risotto so this was my perfect opportunity to try it and it was delicious. I had a small corner left and had to take it with me. I ate it cold that evening. (Only 2 spoon fulls) delicious. I really wish I had gotten the servers name because he was awesome. The server was very good (Casey)! I had a chicken sandwich with very little chicken on it. I shared it with my son, and I had 1 bite of chicken on my half. My half was mostly a tomato sandwich. My husband's and son's pasta were tasty, but very small portions for $20. My husband came home hungry. Very disappointing and won't be back. Being a little more generous with the portions would be appropriate, with the hefty lunch prices. We have gone there many times. We went on March 24, 2026 for our anniversary. We were so disappointed in the experience. We got there 10 min early and the hostess said we had to wait, even though there there were lots of tables open. So we grabbed a drink from the bar, went back and she was seating others and told us she was texting and calling. Checked our phone, and she didn't. Our food came out cold and our waitress said "sorry for the delay, the kitchen is having problems". We think she forgot to bring it and blamed it on the kitchen. Then when she brought the check, she asked how much to add for tip, we said 20%. Our bill was about $45, we didn't order drinks with our meal. She brought it back for us to sign and she added $17 for her tip! read more

I mainly frequent the south Barrington location but I have visited this location a handful of times. I like how open this one is compared to the S. Barrington location. My husband and I came here multiple times once it opened and the service was seriously lacking. We had a couple of awful service experiences so we decided to just stop coming to this location. A few months ago I came here to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. Our waitress was excellent and the service provided was great. However, I wonder if that is because we were such a large party. I'm willing to come back again as I've noticed a drop in quality of service at the S. Barrington location. read more

We ordered the chicken piccata and the shrimp and scallop risotto. The chicken piccata was prepared well. We asked for extra sauce, and we received it. The shrimp and scallop risotto were okay, I would have preferred a bit more flavor in the dish. This could be a personal preference. However, even some salt would have helped. An upscale, casual dining place for all! My family and I have been to the St. Charles location a few times and just recently for Christmas dinner. We are continuously impressed by the quality and taste of the food and wine tasting options. This place also gets super busy during the holiday seasons, so I would definitely recommend getting a reservation. This was the first time I tried the Chef's special of Butternut Squash Ravioli with Maine Lobster and Shrimp and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It is a bit on the sweeter side but the seafood pairs so well with the butternut squash, allowing for a balance of flavors. My brother had the Filet Mignon which he commented was very tender and juicy. My dad thought the Shrimp & Scallop Risotto was alright but slightly overcooked. Lastly, my mom enjoyed her pan-roasted Mahi Mahi but did note that it was lacking in a sear and would've appreciated more color. Although, we have liked a few other menu dishes in the past, we plan on returning back to try more. On the other hand, I do think that service could have been better, and the noise level and crowdedness seemed to be quite overwhelming. Then again, maybe it was just the holiday spirit! read more

I had a business lunch with one of my work teams. I think this was my second visit to Cooper's Hawk that I actually ate at. I wasn't super hungry, so I just got the shrimp/crab/lobster bisque. Very good and I would definitely order it again. I think everyone else got a more substantial meal like the pork chops or a steak/blue cheese salad. Everything looked delicious and portions were significant. Most of us actually ordered dessert as well. I got what was a fancy s'more; ohmigod. That MARSHMALLOW. The marshmallow had to be about three inches high. Incredible. Others got the Reese's Cookie and the Key Lime Pie. Service was regular and we didn't have to wait for drink refills. My Mom has been a wine club member for more years than I can remember now and she visits the STC Coopers Hawk the most since it's so close to her home. We attended a wine club dinner last night and the food and service was so amazing. But truthfully, it's always amazing. The staff there, from managers like Anthony, on down to servers like Dillon, Faith and Michael, treat you more like a mom and pop restaurant than a franchise. They sit and talk to you and remember you from past visits. I generally don't drink wine when I'm there because I live an hour away, and I've been to other places where that can be awkward, but never at Coopers Hawk. The food is always consistent, the service always friendly and knowledgeable, and I really believe that will always make them appealing to everyone, whether you're a wine drinker or not. Went here for my birthday, they were insanely busy. Our waiter, Chase, was amazing, as soon as he found out I was gluten free he brought out bread and a special gluten free brownie for my birthday treat! And YES they finally have gluten free bread so you don't have to sit and watch your group enjoy the yummy pretzel bread. Food and drinks are always great here. Although the manager came out to tell us they ran out of tortillas for the enchiladas, they were very accommodating to the inconvenience. This time, we decided to join the wine club and we were thrilled about it! I really enjoy their romantic red wine, while my husband loves the Cooper's Hawk red. During our visit, we indulged in two bottles of wine. The establishment was pristine, and the staff displayed a high level of hospitality.For our appetizer, we selected the drunken shrimp, which was accompanied by a delightful tequila sauce. For the main course, I opted for the surf and turf featuring the drunken shrimp, while my husband chose the fish option. Both dishes were prepared to perfection, with my meat cooked well and my husband's cooked medium rare. We were visiting a friend in the area and thought we should come here for a nice meal. Now, I've been to a cooper's hawk before, but that was around 5 years ago. Somewhere right outside of Windsor Ontario. But that was for wine tasting. This time, I get to try their food, which is what I'm excited about. I ordered the red wine braised beef which was definitely a comforting dish. Reminded me of a delicious pot roast done in delicious red wine. I definitely enjoyed eating mine. My husband's barramundi was actually very good. Even better than my dish I might add. And it's definitely not seatmate dish envy. It was actually sublime. The place was impeccable,, everyone who worked there kept their masks on over their NOSE AND MOUTH correctly. Just something that I feel is important now that we're in the new normal of everything.
