Went before work to grab some food and took awhile to be waited on but once I was the lady at the bar was super nice. I ordered cabbage and upon noodles for my base and added an egg. I did not get any noodles or an egg but the food was good. I would not go back unless I was going to eat there so I can make sure I got my full meal. The lady said she was back and things were going to change so hopefully she is going to whip things into shape. This used to be my fav place to go and eat... you choose what size bowl you want, go thru a line with different RAW food items you want added to your bowl and they cooked it for you. Simple enough. The shrimps are now the tiny 40+ count. Limited selection of anything spicy. And the death nail; on my last visit, 1 large bowl and soft drink $40!!! WTF?!? Very expensive and very poor quality all around. My wife ordered a menu rice bowl($8) and I ordered a noodle self serve medium($16) and we had two teas for a grand total of $39 and change before tip Server was a little overwhelmed. The serve yourself option was bad. Had to go back to the server twice for instructions on where to get bowls. Food was not very fresh. Meat looked like fake meat so I just threw in a few pieces of chicken and shrimp. Veggies where very low in supply. ( I was really hungry and was eager to see these guys toss that noodle on the grill. My wife had a rice bowl with chicken, pineapple, broccoli. My food came first. Tasted like burnt grill and fake chicken. Noodles where very small portion. All together it was smaller than my wife's rice bowl(I got Williamed!) Panda is top tier compared to this place My wife had raw broccoli ( she didn't touch it) and the rice was not to par. Yeah... never again. Don't see this place lasting. read more

I am still wondering how Ghengis Grill is still in business at the midland location, given my past experiences there. On every occasion that I have given them another chance, I have been met with disappointment as they fail to stock half of the items they are supposed to. Didn't receive a menu, was served by the hostess. The staff seems to be understaffed and overwhelmed, resulting in an insanely long wait time even during slow periods. The staff that is present appears to be unknowledgeable and unmotivated, making the experience even more frustrating. I have decided not to return to this Ghengis Grill location as every experience continues to be worse than the last. Which is extremely disappointing because I have always enjoyed it in other cities. read more

I have always loved this place, just went there and the service was awful. The manager Yani seemed like she didn't want to be there, when she got mine and my daughters bowl swapped she said "what ever was on the paper is what I put". My daughter had a small bowl and mine was a medium and she switched our bases. Luckily we got to make new bowls then they still forgot the egg I wanted in my bowl. The waitress did not once ask us if we needed more drinks and when we asked for more brought one back. I will not be going back to this restaurant. Terrible service but once the actual cook got there my second bowl was very good so props to him and maybe he should be the manager because he was very nice as well. read more

First time in a Genghi's Grill. Decided to try this place out after passing it all the time. I was seated promptly at the bar after the hostess asked what part of the restaurant I'd like to be seated in. I like the choices. The bartender first asked for my drink order. He let me try a sample of the Japanese Ichiban beer before committing to it which I think shows he is a good bartender and cares about his customer's satisfaction. After he served my drink order he asked if I had ever been to a Genghi's before which I had not. He then proceeded to explain how the whole process works and then walked me back to the bowl crafting area. I thought this was another good example of customer service. The lady by the bowl crafting area was also very helpful in making sure to answer any questions I had. The food was finished and delivered quickly. The vegetables and meat were cooked very well. The onions were caramelized well, lots of charring on the meat and veggies which I love. I made my own bowl with the bartender recommended Genghi's in-house sauce and a little of the dragon sauce because I love it spicy! All turned out great! Fulfilling and good food. I got the medium size which was good portioned. The bartender was good in attending to my needs and asked if I wanted any sriracha sauce or soy sauce. My only complaint about the food is the fried rice had no peas in it. My other qualm is the restaurant had a funky smell. I think it was coming from the bar area. Haven't been to genghis grill in a few years. Went to this one got seated quick as there was hardly anyone there. Went to order one small bowl and one medium bowl. The bowls were super tiny the small looked like a 1 cup measuring cup! And it was $11 the medium was $14! Wow, also the glasses were plain plastic without co. Logo on them. Typical bean counter type moves that kill companies, just ask Outback Steakhouse! For $14 you can get a great meal and a wonderful desert right down the street at cracker barrell!!!!! This used to be one of my favorite places, not lately. This visit my wife ask for her order to be cooked well done. Even though her order came 15-20 minutes later then the rest of ours it was actually under done. Veggies were still partially uncooked. Manager and waitress did not seem to care. Waitress even made a snide remark. Manager took forever to even come address the situation making us late taking our daughter to school. The manager did comp my wife's meal, but based on how long it took for her to bother to talk to us it really should have been the entire ticket. Uncooked rice, tiny portions, sub par flavor, delivered cold and CRAZY COLD EXPENSIVE!!

I drove up from Houston to visit a friend, and we stopped here for lunch today. I frequent Mongolian restaurants in Houston all the time and love them, so I figured taking my friend to this restaurant would be similar quality. However, it was not. It was god awful, especially for any toilet in our path. When we arrived, we were quickly seated and had our drinks promptly brought to us. The server was really nice and helpful, explaining the concept (as my friend had never been to a Mongolian restaurant before. Basically: you pick the meats, veggies, sauces/noodles, and then they cook them and bring it to you). The selection of meat and veggies was ok. Most of the dining experience was good, the problem was: it really didn't taste that good, and worse, it made both of us sick afterwards. Had that not happened, we would have given it more stars, but we are both still really sick from their food. Within 15 minutes of leaving we both had major stomach issues. We were at Home Depot when it hit us, and it had us running--literally-- to the bathroom. It could have been a photo finish. Ever since leaving that restaurant--which was over 8 hours ago--we both have felt like throwing up, and have both had to use the bathroom many, many times ever since leaving. We STILL feel sick, and it's not like we ate anything odd. She had mostly veggies and a little chicken, and I had mostly meat. We didn't have anything spicy, and like said before, I eat this food all the time--so it obviously was the food we had. When I asked my friend how we should review this place, she responded, "my butt hurts!" So, although I wish I could give this a higher review since the service was nice and the place looked nice, but the fact that our toilets have taken such punishment because of their awful food, we have to say: DON'T GO TO THIS "CRAPPY" PLACE. read more

We liked the food at Genghis Grill a lot...you select the raw ingredients, put them in a bowl and then take them to a gigantic wok where they take your name and cook it, I think there are some suggested "recipes" but we just selected a wide variety of meats and vegetables we thought we'd like. Then at the wok you choose the type of rice you would like it put on, and when it is done the waiter brings it to your table. I really didn't like the atmosphere. There were a lot of TV's around playing football games and one of the games' audio was broadcast loudly on the PA system. Other times we have gone there has been loud rock music playing, almost too loud to talk to the person you are with. I guess it just depends on your own taste whether you like this environment but I don't. Also it seemed to be very, very busy. Although we really liked the food, and we could tolerate the atmosphere, most times when we were in the area we were hungry right then and didn't want to wait for food. Ok I'll admit, I haven't been to Genghis in about a year.....here is why: Let me set the scene for you so you may understand why I prefer to stay from Genghis... Last year, football season. My favorite team, Dallas Cowboys, are playing a highly anticipated game. I, VERY HUNGRILY, barge into Genghis. With the smell of delicious Mongolian food in the air, I float to my seat while leaving a trail of drool on the floor. I am met by a server who promptly takes my drink order as I sit facing a TV screen as to watch my Cowboys get ANOTHER WIN. As kickoff is about to start, another server comes to my table with two bowls, one smaller than the other and instructs me to follow him. My hopes and dreams were shattered. He shows me the buffet area. Meats, veggies, spices blah blah blah. He playfully warns me not to put too much spice on the meat as it is a little different and I shouldn't "ruin" my meal. My aim (when venturing to Genghis) was not to embark on an arts and crafts project, but to watch my team, have a drink or two, and stuff my face hole until I couldn't walk. Instead, I was told to prepare my food, take it to the cook, then sit down and hope everything turns out the way it should in a restaurant with paid employees to do the job that I was required to do. No dice, I don't gamble on my food as much as the next guy. So, very politely, I said, "No thanks man, I'm just gonna grab a burger" and handed him the bowls. I left him a tip and then went to a local wing/sports bar. Alternate ending... I looked at the waiter and told him "Are you serious??" I slapped the bowls out of his hand and told him that he could kiss my American a** if he expected me to build my meal, THEN not even cook it myself, pay a large price, and then the food may even turn out screwed up! He told me that I should pick up the bowls and quietly leave. After that, I was ENRAGED. I screamed "No one makes me pick up my own bowl, NO ONE!!!" and I knocked all of the condiments off of the table. Then it got REAL. A mongolian man jumped up on the grill, wearing no shoes, and screamed something that I couldn't make out, but I knew what it meant, it meant "It just got REAL" So after a few flips and war cries, I beheaded the guy, threw some spices on him, and grilled HIM. The waiter approached but I hit him with an old lady that was standing near by. I don't recommend eating at this place unless you are trained in some kind of martial arts.......OR unless you wanna work at a restaurant while eating there. Salutations. read more

PROS: The overall concept here is cool, you go through the line and put raw ingredients into your bowl then they cook it up and bring it to you. The food is pretty good, just be sure to ask for double rice or you won't get very much at all. CONS: Every time we have been here the hostesses have been rude, service is slow to non-existent, the place is filthy with sticky tables and floors, and the tvs on and music blaring all at the same time really overload the senses and make it impossible to enjoy your company or converse. Let me start by saying the food is great. But, there is clearly a lack of leadership and organization. My family and I placed a small three person order online tonight, it said to pick up at 5:56 PM. I arrived at 6 PM, once I was greeted the young lady told me my order wasn't ready yet. She then brought the order out about 20 minutes later. Come to find out she handed me someone else's order. My order had not been made yet because the grill was backed up, no problem I understand. Then my food comes out 20 minutes later and it's missing the lettuce wraps we ordered. Since I placed the order online I had already paid for them, so I asked them to substitute with potstickers. All in all I've waited an extra 40 minutes for my meal, the young lady also taking care of the bar area was very sweet and tried to do her best, but there is clearly a lack of management or leadership. read more

Just arrived and it definitely smells almost vomit-esque. However, I have to stay for a business meeting so here we go. Service so far has been great. Friendly and attentive. The restaurant is virtually empty. The choices of protein is ridiculously lacking compared to every other GG I have been to before. No shrimp at all. Very cheap. The waitress has continued to be friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The appetizers were very good. Plenty of refills all around. Even though the cooks were just a little bit slow the food was cooked perfectly. Everyone at the table agrees that their food was very well above average. If it weren't for the disgusting smell I might give it four stars but it will have to settle for three until they fix that. Overall I would come back and spend my money here again. The food was the only decent thing. The first bowl I got was dirty. The server was slow and acted like she hated her life. The cooks were literally throwing bowls, sauce cups and tongs across the grill area trying to make them in the sink. It was so loud and obnoxious that the family next to us immediately got their food to go. I got my food first and our friend got her food last, about 20 minutes later. They were not busy and there was no reason for the food to take that long. There was also a manager on duty that allowed the cooks to continuously act like toddlers. First time trying the Midland location & instantly Regretted going. We waited for so long to sit, then to get our drinks, then for our food. When the cook handed me the little sauce cup, it was dripping with sauce from the cup it was stacked on still full of sauce??? I gave it back (he laughed at me) and he just put it right back with the clean ones and didn't offer me another. Had to wait 30 min for them to just bring me a fork so I could eat my food which by that time had went cold. I couldn't get the waitress to stay at our table long enough to ask for something. My husband had gotten fried rice and noodles with his bowl but it only came with fried rice (thankfully they gave us his noodles after waiting another 10 min for them to come to the table). The cook started singing randomly REALLY loud, then started talking about his felonies with the other cook?? Money issues, drugs, etc. The waitress and the cooks would yell at each other from across the restaurant.... it was just super, super uncomfortable.
