I love Mongolian food, so I honestly wish I could give this place a better score. The overall ambiance of this place sadly suffered, as walking in on a hot April day, the AC was inoperable and the building was a sweltering furnace. My mother in law who was with us, said the last time she'd come here a few years ago, the AC was out then too! Not a good sign for repeated service from customers if you ask me. The young waitress who greeted us seated us relatively quickly. There were a few patrons already seated, but it wasn't overwhelmingly busy. She took us to a booth in the middle of the room. The waitress must have not been having a great day, because when my husband kindly asked to be moved to the other side of the wall, she proceeded to have an emotional meltdown and word vomit that she was the only one working that day and it would be too much of a hassle for her to move us to the other side of the wall. Not wanting to risk upsetting her further, my husband agreed to stay where we were. Strike 2. Our table's response to the food, overall, seemed to be an 'okay, but could be better' vibe. The one good thing I will say is the spicy bowl I ordered was actually pretty good, but the food took wayyy too long to come out. We were waiting upwards of 30-40 mins before we all finally got our food and the place wasn't even that busy. Strike 3. If you have other options for Mongolian, you might check out others before this spot. Based on this experienced alone, we won't be back. read more

Walking into this place was so hot. I thought it was the windows, it wasn't. I was told it's broken. The grill puts off so much heat. And there was no cool place to sit here at all. The meat was tender but build your own Mongolian quality might not be the best if it's that hot in the restaurant. There was a tall goofy looking kid on his break in the dining room ... I saw him eat his boogers. He checked his finger and put it right in his mouth. Several times. I was done. I'm pretty sure he was the prep guy. I will not be returning. read more

I don't enjoy eating in front of my friend and I got my food and waited as long as possible not to eat in front of him but we checked with his order of drinking chicken twice and she said his itakes longer because he got a medium bowl and I got a small. ( Huh). Lol. We ended up sharing mine and he still didn't have his so we said cancel it and she wasn't happy and said that's just how they do it here sorry you don't like it. I had a great experience at Genghis Grill! The staff was really friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in, and the place was clean and comfortable. I ordered the potstickers, and they were so good - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. They came out hot and fresh, and you can tell they really care about how the food is prepared. Service was quick, my drink stayed full, and they checked on me just enough without hovering. Overall, Genghis Grill gave me a really good meal and a relaxed dining experience. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending Genghis Grill to friends and family. read more

I was trying to find a place for lunch that would have plenty of vegie options and lean meat - but not another salad, or another texted bowl. I was pleased that I had complete control of my carbs and ordered my food with cabbage instead of rice or noodles. Everything was cooked perfectly and was ready easy to pick up after ordering online. Went in the middle of July. Big problem with the air conditioning. It was just about as hot inside as it was outside. I actually liked the food, but I couldn't finish it because of how uncomfortable and sweaty I was lol. Good service from a dude who said it has been an issue for a long time. It's a rare day that I walk out. Greeted staff at front and told them I'd never been here before, but it was on my "try it out" list and I was excited. No problem. I'll show you how it works. Ordered a drink that never came. Other customers were seated and served. They weren't that busy at 1pm. Download the app which was quoted on the menu to give me a free bowl. Cool! I really liked this place, I was looking for something with vegan options and it did not disappoint. Yummy veggies and they had a chicken substitute that was tasty. My friends had something with meat and they enjoyed their meals too. Plenty of parking and we did not have to wait to be seated. In addition to their signature bowls they have a make your own option where you can pick out veggies and protein yourself. So I haven't eaten at Genghis Grill in over 10 years, but I wanted to introduce my kids to what I've thought I remembered as a great place to eat. Dead wrong... The changes that have been made in the past decade are definitely causing the empty parking lot. The food quality and the portion size is ridiculously small for the exorbitant $25 that they charge per plate for a large bowl that isn't even large. Additionally, the lack of hairnets in the restaurant while people are handling and cooking food is disgusting. Lastly, I don't feel like my food was cooked long enough, which led me to leave a lot of the protein selection behind in the bowl and so I don't feel like I got $77 worth of food for my daughter and I. We stop at this Genghis grill, frequently on our drive between DFW and Kansas. Love the concept, not real happy with how they've handled things since coming out of Covid. If you're not familiar with the concept, it's a build your own bowl, concept. You pick out your meats first, then your vegetables, along with spices and sauces... they cook it on a round grill. Typically you have the option of adding eggs, however they were out of eggs. Additionally, you can choose to add rice or a couple of other options... which are included in the price. In addition to being out of eggs, they were also out of sliced beef... leaving only what they call steak as an option for beef. The problem with their steak is; it's not very high quality, and is quite chewy... Taking a long time to eat. On the upside, we were seated quickly. The waitress was friendly, and though chopsticks weren't readily available, they were able to find and supply them. If they could just get back to how they once were, this would be one of my favorite places! read more

We've been to this location several times. Service is consistently pretty slow. The waiters have no sense of urgency, but they're nice at least. The food, however, varies between good and great! We love using their coupons on the app. If you haven't used them you really should get it before you go next time. read more

They have 2 front doors. Only one was open. If you want customers, unlock your doors! Hostess service was bad. Waitress was good. Food was good, but portion was small. Music was weird. Men's room and dining room was clean. Salt, pepper and soy sauce should be on the table, not in a cabinet. My seat cushion was torn. Strange decor and ambiance. They appear to be understaffed. Manager was MIA. Good management listens to the customers, especially as they exit the restaurant after their meal. This place could be really good because it is in a great location. Get a new manager. Also, I didn't like the way the waitress took my credit card and stood at my table with a handheld device to charge my card, then proceeded to hand me the device so I could add a tip, as she stood there at my table. Then I had to ask for a receipt, and she had to go to the cash register to get my receipt. Very awkward. AC was probably set on 65. Too cold! read more

We were so glad to have the opportunity to stop here. For those of you that haven't been here, you're first seated. You chose small, medium, or large bowls and tell them if you want eggs and what rice with your order. They then bring you a bowl and you go pick what you want. My niece had a small bowl with ham, shrimp, and crab, a few veggies. She picked 2 eggs with fried rice. You could definitely see the eggs and friend rice. She said it was good. I chose a small bowl with chicken, some seasoning, broccoli, onions, zucchini, 1 egg and fried rice. Mine was good but I couldn't find any egg and I had very little fried rice. The service was fantastic. Masks are required unless at your table. There is no distancing between tables which was unfortunate but happy they are in business. read more

After reading reviews of good and bad experiences I went in with an open mind and a hungry stomach. We walked in and greeted and seated by our waiter that immediately overwhelmed us even after we told him we have never been there. He rattled off many rices and noodles like we have been there before. WOW WHAT? No menu? No menu. ‍‍ I got a small bowl because I didn't know what I was getting myself into. My daughter and husband got a medium bowl. Oh yeah, we asked for lemon with our water. Never got it even though he said he would get it and come back. Would have been okish if they had been busy, but it wasn't at 4pm on a Sunday. My daughter took 1, one bite and was so grossed out. My husband ate half of his and I ate half of mine as well. The waiter asked us if we wanted to go boxes and we all said no thank you. He didn't even ask us if we liked it or if it was good. Clearly we didn't. So $50 later we ordered a pizza from Dominos and picked it up on the way home. We will never recommend this place or be back. Sucks leaving a restaurant hungry. Also, it was gross seeing all the raw meat laid out as a buffet set up. Speaking of meat, the steak was so cheap and tasted horrible. The chicken was also very low end tasting. read more

Ever wanted to control the way your food tasted at a restaurant? You know, maybe a bit more ginger, or a bit more cabbage? Well at Ghengis Grill you get to do exactly that. The building is nice, the interior is plainly decorated offering booths and tables. There is a bar, but it isn't very well stocked and the margaritas look to be pre-mixed. Not sure why you would want a margarita with Asian styled food but I don't drink them anyway. The waiter explained to us the concept: pick a bowl size - small, medium or large. Pick your protein from a choice of about a dozen different meats from beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, fish or calamari. Pick your dry spices. Pick your veggies, then additional veggies (there are probably 40 choices). Pick your sauce (probably 20 choices). Then bring it to the grill master and pick your side of either noodles, rice, cabbage or a few other choices and they'll cook it right up for you. I had a medium size bowl, chosing a mix of beef and marinated pork. Topped that with cabbage, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, ginger, red pepper, dragon salt, baby corn, and something called 3D sauce. That was served over rice and cabbage. It was delicious - thank you, it was my recipe. I didn't think it would be enough at first but I was very full and very satisfied when I was done. Price was around $15. I'll be back. The food was good, and very fresh. I thought the shrimp were extremely small and wouldn't order them again. I did an online order, which was very convenient, but I had to wait there for 30 minutes past the quoted pickup time for the order. Two of our bowls were missing some of the ingredients, as well. We used to love this place, it was always a treat for us to go. Today we went in to get a create your own bowl. I always get udon noodles and my husband always gets rice. Today we find out they changed it to where the noodles don't count as a base and you have to add them in the bowl. So if you don't like rice, you basically have to waste half of your bowl space for your noodles. I won't pay $25 for half of the meat and veggies I used to be able to get. Will not be back. So sad because this was a great date night place for us. read more

Good place, quick and helpful service. It seems the waiters and waitresses needed a bit more people to assist with customers, but our waitress was good. She talked to us a bit, said she was law enforcement which was awesome! Good thing I had a designated driver that night (I always do) because I finished a whole fishbowl blue dragon pretty much by myself. That's a mean drink btw, dangerously easy to chug. The food was normal, all typical GG stuff, relatively clean for being a serve yourself bar, the staff were very nice. I wonder what the rules are because I found it peculiar that the cooks would fry, then they would leave for a bit and just have the girl who confirms your order clean the hot table. From the outside it looks very odd but I'm sure there's a good reason. I normally see the cooks clean their work area, not having someone else do it. Not a huge deal, just odd.
