My son was mimicking this little boy's behavior. My only question- why weren't his parents called ? I understand they aren't trained to deal with ASD. But my son has absolutely THRIVED in KinderCare. NO issues. And they aren't specially trained for ASD either.

The one where you drop your kid off and they don't cry, they don't run after you and make you feel horrible for having a job. They have a clean face and a full belly when you show up for them. They have a clean diaper for the ride home. They have taken and sent multiple pics thru the day. They have a smile on their face when you pick them up, not running crying to you. They have low ratio supervision. The school that you (literally) have never heard a child crying, and i have been there all hours of the day. The school where the staff is dressed appropriately according to their position. Where there is always a genuine smile (or shoulder) for you. The one where actual projects, sand play, water play, art every day are done and the rooms are not destroyed. In February, that's just what we did. I won't mention the school for privacy reasons but anyone who knows they have changed schools knows i have been raving about them. All our younger kiddos go there currently. All I'm saying is, it makes a huge difference where your children feel comfortable enough to run off from you instead of after you. I had a bad feeling from the beginning, but because of an emergency, I needed childcare and enrolled my son at La Petite Academy in Gold River. My son is high-functioning autistic, and I disclosed his autism multiple times during the tour and again when we completed the enrollment paperwork. On his very first day, he had one of his autistic meltdowns. Instead of working to help calm him or using strategies to support him, I received a call from the director. When I reminded her that he is autistic, she told me she didn't know, despite me sharing that information before he started. During that conversation, I was told they don't work with children like my son, and he was immediately disenrolled after his first day. Since then, I also spoke with another parent who told me she was unable to enroll her autistic son there. I was also told about an incident involving my older son, where a teacher allegedly yelled at him because the teacher's own child wanted the toy he was using. My son had said he would share it when he was finished, but I was told the teacher insisted he hand it over immediately. Every child deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and compassion. Families of children with autism deserve honesty and support--not to feel unwelcome. This was our experience, and because of it, I cannot recommend La Petite Academy in Gold River. Always trust your gut. I wish I had listened to mine.

My son has autism though, and so they said I needed an aide or they would not allow him to attend. So I went through hell to get the aide set up. It took weeks and hours and hours on the phone and filling out paperwork. And then I went to tour the two year old class with my son. I told them I wanted him to be with kiddos his own age to have the opportunities to learn the skills other two year olds were learning. And everything was fine, but when I was leaving after the tour they said they had decided it was a good idea to start my son in the younger classroom, which they said was 18-36 months. Even though he had a spot in the two year old class? But then when I asked for the pricing schedule for that class, it was listed as 12-24 months. My son is two and a half. So I called back and said why are you trying to put my two year old son in a class that's not for his age when you told me there is a spot in the two year old class? And they insisted there were two year olds in the class. But when I pushed to find out exactly how many, I found out they were actually moving all of the two year olds up to the two year old class right when my son would start, so he would not have any kids the same age in that class. And they had given my spot in the two year old class away to one of those kids. So now I no longer had the spot that existed for him anymore. As if life wasn't hard enough being a parent of an autistic child. It's hard as hell. And then you have to deal with people trying to deny your kid the same opportunities as other kids. My son is a sweet, gentle little two year old boy, no behavioral issues, loves being around other kids, and he was going to have an aide for the time he was there at their insistence. And he needs the opportunity to learn the same skills other kids learn in daycare. If you have an autistic child or know anyone who has an autistic child, think carefully about which businesses you want to support and which you don't.

My kids are always fed on time and never miss a snack and there aren't TV's in most rooms so not sure what that other reviewer is referring too. I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old at the school. My 1 year old loves going so much she knows when I pull in the parking lot and just starts saying "hi, hi, hi" and then gets really excited. My 3 year old loves everyone there, his favorite is Ms. Dena, who pushes him to learn new things each day. She has done wonders with potty training him. My 1 year old has mild hearing loss and wears hearing aids, the staff does their best to keep them in. Ms. Debbie is close to fluent in American Sign Language and signs with her and teaches the other kids ASL. She loves the teachers in the baby room but her favorite person is Miss Hill. My 3 year old has Down syndrome and goes to a different preschool in the San Juan district in the mornings and a bus drops him off right at nap time and they are always there waiting for him. He is often extra hungry when he wakes up from his nap and they make sure he's fed. He's included in all activities and never feels left out or excluded. He started at RSG at 18 months, his peers influences have helped him learn to walk, feed himself, play independently on the playground, talk and potty train. All the teachers and staff have learned some ASL so they can communicate effectively with him since that is also his main form of communication. Ms. Ally is always a pleasure to see, she and Ms. Veronica always greet everyone with a smile making pick up and drop off very pleasant. Sure some teachers haven't been that great but no one can hire perfect employees for every position. I recommend Ready Set Go every chance I get.

On 10/7/21, my 9 year-old daughter came out fairly distraught. She brought it to my attention that the staff member, Jorge, threw a small bead from about 10' away at my daughters face. It hit roughly 1" from her left eyeball, which in turn left a welt/mark on her upper cheek. With the training and schooling child care providers receive, it is absolutely unacceptable for any adult/provider to throw, touch, flick, pinch, etc. to ANY child. I brought the incident up to Jorge - he was dismissive and said it was an "accident." Realistically, you cannot lob something from 10' away "accidentally" and leave a mark. I also spoke to Ms. Hill about the matter after asking who I could file a personal complaint with about Jorge. She specified herself as that person. I expressed my concerns and she was understanding, stating she would speak with him. I am also filing a complaint with CDSS about the incident because as stated above these staff members received training and schooling to earn these positions, licenses and certificates. Nowhere on page 11 of the Parent Handbook: Behavior Management & Discipline Policy (or any other page for that matter) does it state that the care provider is able to use any type of physical force whether that be any of the aforementioned methods. If you choose to take your school aged children here, be cautious about the individual Jorge. I'm a concerned father/parent that strives for the safety of not only my children, but all children alike. A daycare should be a safe place for all children, and a place that concerned parents trust. Once again, this is directed towards an individual and not the establishment as a whole.

On one occasion, I even witnessed a teacher openly berating another staff member in front of the children. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate behavior. And now here we are, months after withdrawing my children, I am still receiving bills, now totaling over $5,000, for care that never occurred. These invoices are for dates long after my children stopped attending. Despite reaching out multiple times, the daycare has refused to take responsibility or fix the problem. They've repeatedly blamed their billing system, yet when I contacted the company directly, I was told the issue is entirely on the daycare's end. Their lack of accountability and professionalism is completely unacceptable. I strongly urge other parents to think twice before trusting this center with their children or their money.
