I'm from LA and the Vegetarian Spicy Miso Ramen is the best I have had in the mid-west. The broth is flavorful and super balanced, the toppings were all really good, and the service was great! I could have done with a bit more spice in the broth, but I love spice and will just have to ask if they have chili oil next time I'm there. Really well priced too. I really enjoy this place! You can tell by the quality compared to other ramen places. I especially love their grilled chicken. It's not dry or bland by any means. I also really enjoy their potato croquette. The crust is slightly bulkier than other croquettes which gives it a nice bite. The location is excellent as well, with Whole Foods and plenty of other shops being so close by. I really hope to try their curry one of these days but the Nagoya with extra noodles gets me right each time. I have brought guests out here too and they really enjoy it. read more

Their ramen really soothes and warms the soul, my family and I have tried the regular and spicy tonkotsu, shoyu and nagoya ramen. Personally i like the classic spicy tonkotsu it has a tiny bit of kick. Enjoyed the curry or katsu don which came with a huge bowl of rice plus the katsu on the side fried nicely. All the fried appetizer have been pretty good too nothing is overly heavy or greasy. The croquette, fried oysters and chicken karaage are my favs! The soft shell crab was yums as well. I had been wanting to try this location for a while, but they close midday, so it took me a bit to time it right. I was able to order ahead online and time it for half an hour before they closed. They do say allow 25mins or so for your meal to be ready no matter how you order. They do not offer pay online, so you still have to pay at the register, but at least your order is ready to go! The lady inside was friendly. I got the Shogo ramen and added corn and bean sprouts. I wish I had tried the broth before pouring it over the ramen because it was so over the top salty that once I added it, the dish was inedible because the ramen soaked it up quick. The shrimp and veggies were cooked perfectly and were good. I honestly ate the fish, veggie, and egg off the top and had to toss the rest. Ramen is the cheapest thing ever and the meat they use wasnt great quality... we both picked it out. We really enjoyed this place, the food, and the service. The lady that served us was very nice and tentative. Also, although she gave us an appertizer we didn't order she took it off the bill while letting us keep the appertizer and still bringing out the one we order. We started with the octopus balls and shomai. We were also accidently given this potatoe like thing. The shomai was very good, the potatoe thing was crunchy but basically just a hashbrown but still tasty, and I didn't care for the octopus ball things but my girlfriend really liked them. As far as main dishes I got the spicy tonkotso ramen (I believe anyways) and added an extra egg. It was very good and filling. Had some to take home for a snack the next day. She ended up getting the chicken katsu rice bowl and really enjoyed it. She said it was nicely crispy and one of the best (if not the best) she's had. She also had enough for a bit of leftovers. The best way I can explain Genkunis it is Japanese casual dining. If you've ever eaten at Mei's in Montgomery, this is a scaled down version...smaller and more casual. The food was very good and very large portions as you can see from my attached pictures. I ate with a group of four and we all really enjoyed the food and the service was better than I would have expected. A single waitress, who if I were to guess is probably also an owner, was zipping around tending to all tables and even with a very high load it felt like we were getting dedicated service given her high frequency of interaction. The place can seat maybe 20 people so it may get crowded during peak times. Also it appeared they had a healthy carry out or door dash business. I will definitely come back. There aren't a lot of Japanese restaurant choices in Cincinnati and I'm happy they set the bar high with their quality of food and service. read more

This place is small but pretty cute. It had several choices for ramen and I chose to try the Nagoya Ramen. The broth is really light, but super enjoyable. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the vegetables were super yummy too. My only qualm is the chicken was definitely not good quality. It is super fatty with gristle still on it. If they just fixed the meat quality part, it would easily be a 5 stars for me. My children tried their sweet potato fries and really liked those a lot (good flavor). Went here on a Saturday at 6 PM to dine in. It was full, so the host took our name and number and party size (2) and we waited outside for 20 minutes. First time here so we got their Pork Buns and Spicy Garlic Edamame to start and both were delicious. We both got their traditional Ramen bowl and it was SO GOOD! My husband has a history of allergies (anaphylaxis) to shellfish and Tree nuts and peanuts and we disclosed this to them when we ordered. He had no problems at all. Super good! We saw a movie in Oakley and my husband tried to take us to the Oakley Genki...but its not open yet. So we drove up to the original in Mason. Did Genki as our G in restaurant alphabet. We weren't super hungry so kept the order lighter. It's a smaller space - maybe 5 or 6 two top tables and the other half is dedicated to the kitchen. Ordered curry flavored korokke. Super tasty! I'm a bit or a Japanese curry snob but I've never had curry flavored korokke and this was great. Would totally order again. My husband got the original tonkatsu ramen. We ordered an extra egg, not realize you actually only get half an egg for the $1.50. I feel like that was just slightly overpriced but that's more of a quibble. I got the spicy miso ramen. Super good flavor. I felt like the first bite had a nice kick but then it got less spicy. They're generous here with the noodles which is great. I do like broth though so next time I'd order extra broth and could easily get 2 meals from it. Overall 5 stars. Super fast food and service. After tip for 2 ramen bowls, 2 extra eggs and the korokke we netted out at $45. We'll be back and bring the kids next time although we'll probably aim for the Oakley location since it looks like they have mote seating. read more

Me and my group got lucky and grabbed the last available table. I believe there was at least 3 tables with social distancing. I looked over the menu for the ramen and they honestly look the same in terms of ingredients. I decided for the Shoyu tonkatsu ramen. About $14 a bowl which was pretty normal in my home town. It was better than other veggie ramens I've had in the area. It was flavorful but not too salty like a lot of other veggie ramen can be! I love ramen - I've eaten it quite a few times in the US and Japan. It's always struck me as a dine-in only dish because of the way that the ingredients typically come together, so I've been hesitant to try take-out ramen during COVID. I have to say that, it turned out much better than I expected. Genki smartly keeps the ingredients and broth separate for take-out, allowing you to combine them at home. We ordered the spicy tonkotsu and spicy miso with karaage as an appetizer. The spicy tonkotsu was very solid - good spice level and yummy umami. The spicy miso was decent - we both preferred the spicy tonkotsu. The karaage was great and surprisingly hot and crispy for surviving a 20 minute drive home. We'll look forward to trying some of Genki's other menu items, but in the meantime, Genki is definitely a respectable contender in Cincy's small ramen scene. We'll be back read more
