Like many, I truly used to dread going to the dentist. That all changed a few years ago when my sister recommended Gentle Dental. I've only met Dr. Patti Webb once, but she's absolutely hilarious and instantly makes you feel at home. Dr. Jordan Webb, clearly takes after her with his warm, gentle bedside manner. Now, I actually look forward to my appointments every six months. The entire team is wonderful -- especially my hygienist, Jessie, who makes every visit feel easy and comfortable. I've never felt more at ease in any doctor's office. Whenever the topic of dentistry comes up, I can't help but rave about the amazing care I've received at Gentle Dental. Even without dental insurance, I find the visits are affordable and completely worth it. It is an expense I'm happy to make every single time. read more

Terrible results with Patti, everything she did failed and now I have a condition that may or may not be resolved. Jordan did his best to remedy things but there's no doubt she needs to retire before they are hit with a lawsuit. My jawbone is severely disfigured due to poor choices and her rough handling. My wife found Dr. Jordan Webb when she experienced some intense pain and needed an emergency appointment. She loved the office and people working there and referred me. I went yesterday to have a cleaning, checkup, and look at a tooth that was causing me a lot of pain. Every single person in the office was incredible. I was having conversations with the hygienist and assistant like we were old friends. As they were taking my x-rays, Dr. Webb (Jordan) came in to introduce himself and assist. He was friendly and spoke with me, not at me or down to me like my last 2 dentists. I felt so at easy and comfortable within 5 minutes of entering the office. Once the cleaning was complete, Dr. Webb came in to extract the wisdom tooth that was bothering me, on THE SAME DAY. I have NEVER had a prior practice take work on a tooth the same day. They all had to schedule another appointment. I thought that this was the norm but not so. They numbed me well and I only felt a little pressure. Today all is well and I no longer have the horrible tooth pain. I can't recommend this practice enough. If you have any bad experience, talk to them. And yes, there are some young people (with UF in Gainesville having a dental school there are a lot of recent graduates) but they need a chance to learn in a real office and be taught. This Dental office is amazing! The entire staff are friendly and they really do practice gentle Dental! I Met both dentists on my first visit. They seem to be very knowledgeable and want to do the best for you without trying to sell you something you don't need or fill cavities that aren't there! I sent my son, who is a UF student, to this practice for a cleaning. He asked them when he made the appointment if they took Delta Dental insurance. They said yes. When he got his cleaning, they demanded that he pay the full $149 up front because they are not a "preferred provider" for Delta, and that we would have to wait for reimbursement. When I explained to Barbara, the office manager, that this was very poor communication and that they need to let people know up front that they are not a preferred provider, she rather curtly said she would keep that in mind for future reference. She did not apologize or even seem to express any empathy for my frustration. They may be fine as a dental practice, but I did not feel valued as a customer or a human being. They got the $149 up front, but they did not win me as a loyal customer. People skills and understanding are often more important to me than technical expertise. read more

I had the worst dental experience of my life at Gentle Dental. I bought a voucher for them on Livingsocial, and I know now why they needed to draw more customers. The atmosphere of the place was completely unprofessional. Walking by one of the room on my way to by chair I heard an employee say something about "getting a blow-job for sure." When the woman who was taking my x-rays found out I plan on moving to Birmingham when I finish my master's degree, she stopped what she was doing and proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes telling me what an ignorant, inbred, and racist city Birmingham is--based on no experience of her own. She based her judgment entirely on the fact that Birmingham refused to integrate during the civil rights movement (because ever other southern city including Gainesville did SUCH a great job of integrating nicely.) Anyway, the main point of seeing a dentist is to get your teeth cleaned. It was, hands down the most painful and painstakingly slow cleaning I have ever had in my life. I take good care of my teeth. I floss religiously, use an oral-b electric toothbrush, and visit a dentist every 6 months without fail. Not only was the cleaning incredibly painful, but she didn't rinse the blood out of my mouth at any point. Very unpleasant. But then came more crazy: When the doctor asked me how the cleaning was I said, "to be honest, it was the most painful cleaning I've ever had in my life." He apologized profusely and I thought that was that... Until I was getting into my car and senior dentist Patti Webb literally chased me down in the parking lot to inform me that it's not THEIR fault the cleaning was painful, that it was the fault of my previous dental hygienists who didn't do a thorough job of cleaning. Then she asked me to come back in to discuss it further. When I declined (I had been there at 2 hours at this point) she said desperately "Well, are you planning to come back to see us??" And when I responded with, "no..." she snapped, "Well I'm just wasting my time and yours out here aren't I??" and stomped back into the office. Crazy. A day after that incident, she left me a voicemail requesting that I call her back to "fix things between us" because she just didn't like how "things ended yesterday." Clearly they are desperate for clients, and the reason for that became abundantly clear during my unpleasant visit. read more

Would give Gentle Dental 10 stars if I could! I called to come in as an emergency visit bc I feared I had an abscess. Dr. Webb accessed my situation presented me with my options and was very honest in the best way. He made the whole experience relaxing and reassured me of all my fears multiple times. He even called the next day to check in. After popping my stitches he was able to fit me in first thing the very next morning and get it taken care of. It's evident that Dr. Webb and his staff truly care about their patients well-being and value making them as comfortable as possible. The day I went she was supposed to fill one cavatity that didn't think was even necessary and before I could stop her she drilled on a second tooth that didn't need work. Dr. Patti Webb was suggested by my old dentist, Dr. Magnusson, when he retired from UF's College of Dentistry. I finally made an appointment to see her, as many sadly do with a dentist, when I had some tooth pain and became concerned. Despite being a new patient and right after the winter holidays, Dr. Webb's staff graciously worked me in and I saw her in less than a week's time. The office is beautiful, clean, and welcoming and the front desk staff are attentive and kind. The hygienists seem professional and knowledgable beyond anything you'd expect for hygienists; I asked one if she was also a dentist because her articulation and general knowledge were so consummate I expected maybe she was a new dentist working under Dr. Webb's direction. All the radiological and other treatment equipment seemed new and in top condition. It appears not a penny was spared in providing the best equipment for the best care. Dr. Webb herself is delightful. She described her treatment approach as "conservative" meaning she will take the least-invasive or least-complex approach to see if that works before jumping into something complicated or costly. She actually also holds a Ph.D. as well as the dental doctorate and therefore would be qualified to teach in the sciences at the university level. Dr. Webb may come across as friendly and very down-to-earth, but make no mistake, she has more education than most dentists and many years of experience in practice. I read some of the other reviews of this clinic and would like to address what they said about Dr. Webb and her staff being "unprofessional": in my opinion, there is nothing unprofessional about these people--they're the living example of high professionalism. However, Dr. Webb is as I stated, down-to-earth and not aloof at all. She wears the same color scrubs as her staff and not a starched white lab coat. And I like that about her very much, I would rather have a concerned, friendly, doctor than one who seems snooty or arrogant. North-central Florida is part of the Deep South and I think most people here would rather see a dentist who seems like a friend or neighbor than someone who acts coldly "professional: to the point of seeming like a robot. I went into this office with a decent amount of pain and concern and Dr. Webb and her staff put me at ease. You can't put a price on that. Also, remember how I said my old dentist had retired? Guess when he and his wife both come for dental now? Yep. Dr. Webb. Let that sink in: a former full professor of dentistry at UF, world-renowned in his field, chose Dr. Webb as his own dentist. Gentle Dental is AMAZING. Now I know everyone has different experiences and expectations in doctors offices, and Gentle Dental is definitely an experience all in its own. As the first reviewer said, it's not your traditional approach to a professional business. While this was the factor that upset that reviewer so much, this is what draws me back time and time again. I don't want to feel as though I'm in a stuffy, uptight environment - I'm already nervous enough. The fact that the staff will do what it takes to make you comfortable (and trust me, 13 years with no dental work I needed the assistance!) makes it all worth it. Barb at the desk helped me figure out which of my dental insurance options would give me the best coverage. The send text appointment reminders. They ALWAYS remember you and chat about stuff other than your teeth the whole time. The trio of Dr. Webbs (Jordan, Austin and Queen Bee Patti) all have very distinct personalities. I can see how some people would be overwhelmed by that, but really they just care about their customers. I can't say enough good things about this place and the environment they have created to complement their outstanding and thorough work. I've now been for 3 cleanings, a series of fillings (many years of neglect taken care of!) and am beginning invisalign through them in 3 weeks. I look forward to my visits - which they work around my work schedule - and can't wait to see the magic they will work on my teeth next! read more

My favorite dentist I've been to by far. While Reade was offended by the perceived lack of professionalism, I love it. I call it personable. I've had all kinds of different discussions there and it's not a sterile feeling or atmosphere like some dentist offices. Everyone there, hygienists and Dr Webb (both of them), is very friendly, personable, and actually remember you. I've never had a bad experience there and the one time I needed to get in right away, it took just an hour. While I wouldn't take off a star for the rating, the one negative aspect is that they have to file the dental claim to your insurance. Previous dentists, when I went in for a cleaning, I paid nothing. Now I have to pay upfront, wait for the insurance claim to be filed, and the insurance company to reimburse me the $100+. It's actually been 5 months and I haven't been reimbursed for the last cleaning, despite a call to the insurance company. NotGDC's fault though. read more

This is the worst dental clinic I ever visited in my life. I did a big bridge in this clinic in 2013. The bridge procedure made my three healthy teeth damaged in order to create posts for bridge. And the bridge only lasted 7 years and I have to replace with implant. the bridge costed me more than $10000, which was almost the same for two implants. And I have to suffer loss of three healthy teeth. Very bad experience and I will never recommend this clinic. read more

My husband had a serious infection from a bad tooth an being an insulin dependent diabetic this could have been a life or death situation, and the normal place he was going was closed because of the Thanksgiving holiday. I litterly called all of the "emergency" dentists and wasn't able to get help because my husband wasn't a patient there. Finally I got a call back from Jordan Webb saying to come in first thing in the morning and he would remove my husband's tooth. The office staff was very warm and friendly and we were also able to meet his mom who owns the practice with him. My husband was seen very quickly and Jordan made sure he was as comfortable as possible during the whole visit. I definitely would come back if need be and also recommend to anyone I meet. read more

I had a cavity that was painful and Dr. Webb and Dr. Jordan took care of it so well. The filling was quick, non-painful of 0.5 out of 10 discomfort, and not expensive. I went to Gentle Dental Care to get a few cavities filled and a root canal done. While the atmosphere was great, the care was not. Not only were all of the procedures extremely painful, I've been left with sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet, and spicy foods in all of the teeth that they touched - beyond what is normal for these dental procedures. I made an appointment with Gentle Dental in 2012 for a checkup and cleaning. It had been a couple years since I had been to the dentist, but prior to that I had no major problems, just figured I was overdue. Dr.(s) Webb did an X-ray and exam, then immediately told me I had 17 cavities that would need to be filled. I was shocked--I do tend to be decay prone, but my hygiene is good, but they seemed so sure I went ahead and made appointments to get them filled instead of getting a second opinion. Based on the input of Dr. Jordan Webb I decided to go with amalgam (silver) fillings for all of them. Since they were all on my molars and pre-molars the aesthetics were less of an issue, and he assured me the amalgam was more durable and would last me at least 10 years, probably longer. The fillings were done in 2 visits, and after they were done I had intense sensitivity to heat, cold, menthol, and just general aching pain while I tried to sleep for months. I assumed it was just part of the adjustment process. Shortly after, I moved to California. A year after the fillings were placed they started to fall out, even though there was no decay behind them. I figured the first one was a fluke, but they've been falling out at a steady rate over the last four years. The eighth one just came loose, which irritated me so much I decided to write this review. I've been to 2 dentists since, and they both seemed shocked at the size, material choice, and workmanship of the fillings. I am so frustrated at the amount of time, money, and pain my teeth have cost me since going to Gentle Dental. Their bedside manner was pleasant enough--very friendly (too familiar for some) and extremely confident, but I believe their approach was overly aggressive and their quality poor. Even with insurance I paid them thousands out of pocket, and one of the dentists I saw since then gently tried to ask me if I had been low income and unable to afford good dental care. read more

I went here due to a voucher I bought on living social. Thus far, I am a fan--I thought the staff was very friendly and personable. The hygienist was one of the best that I have had in a long time--she actually took the time to explain the structure of my teeth, any indentations or marks that I had, and what they could turn into in the future. I had an appointment here for a simple cleaning because I could not make it back to my hometown before graduation. I have had my teeth cleaned every 6 months since I was old enough, and I have never had a cavity or anything serious wring with my teeth other than having my wisdom teeth removed. The cleaning was the worst I have ever had. The woman moved the polishing wand back and forth across my teeth haphazardly, not taking any time to clean each tooth like I have experienced in the past. After that, Dr. Patti Webb came in and informed me in a very strange way that "we would be seeing a lot of each other". I asked why, and she said I have a "mouth full of cavities" like it was funny. I was very taken aback because, as said above, I have never had a filling in my life. They told me I had NINE cavities, in all four corners of my mouth, and that I would need to come in 4 separate times because they would not do more than 2 or 3 of them at a time. Dr. Webb was also the most unprofessional doctor I have ever met. She was very inconsiderate about telling me about my results. She also had no concept of personal space. I was sitting in the chair and she kept grabbing and stroking my arm and touching my face, and she did the same to my fiance who sat in the room with me. I guess it was supposed to be comforting, but it was really weird. After this appointment I was very concerned and did not return to get my cavities filled. I made an appointment with my regular dentist and they did a proper cleaning and took x-rays. I had ONE minor cavity (more of a soft spot that took my Dr. two minutes to fill) and no other areas of concern. My doctor says he has no idea why they would claim I had them when I didn't, other than to make money. I would never recommend anyone go here. They were unprofessional, inconsiderate, and I can't help but wonder if they were going to put me through expensive and painful dental procedures just to make money. I have been going to Gental Denal for about 18 months now and have had all 4 wisdom teeth out as well as two fillings. The service there has been excellent and I really appreciate the family atmosphere that is Gental Dental. Dr. Jordan removed all 4 of my wisdom teeth last year and it couldn't have been less stressful. I was in and out of the office in under 30 minutes and was only sore for a couple of days. Dr. Jordan and Dr. Austin both called me the day after my extraction to make sure that I was doing well. This family run office really does care about its patients. When I had a cavity, he took a photo of the tooth to show exactly why I needed it filled. This is not a dental office that will try and perform work that you don't need. It's really nice going to an office (this is my 3rd since moving to Gainesville) where I can trust the doctors and know that I am being well taken care of. Dr. Jordan also fixed one of my previous fillings because my previous dentist used a composite filling and it was not stable. I will not go anywhere else for Dental work in Gainesville. read more

This dental office is friendly and efficient, probably costs the same as other dentists. My initial visit was with a groupon/living social discount coupon, but I have had no problems since then visiting and getting my regular six-month cleanings. They text and email you to remind you of your appointments and call you if you are late - that's helpful to me. This is a nice family of dentist, with mom and her two sons. My first visit hurt me a little too, to be honest, very thorough but a little rough. I am quite experienced going to the dentist as I have been going all my life. After one of the other dental offices in town quoted me for $1200 of dental work, I decided to shop around and eventually decided to go with Gentle Dental. The staff is very nice and courteous, although I do concur with other reviewers that Patti can get a bit... "touchy". One of her sons filled in four of my cavities in about an hour an a half, and even refilled one that had chipped free of charge, having been a previous customer of theirs. Just traveling through gainesville on way home to NY. My wife had a sore gum for several days so we thought it should be checked. Barbara was great getting us in and Dr. Webb was terrific taking his time explaining the problem and other problems that may be coming. No pressure to pull or other procedures. Just that tooth was fractured and infected and good thing she went on antibiotics cause could have been serious. Told us we had to have it extracted as soon as we got home. My son, who is mentally challenged had made an appointment with Dr Webb for teeth cleaning and full mouth x-rays. The receptionist told him the charge would be $149.00 as a new patient. I was paying for the bill since he is a ward of the state because of his disability and is on disability social security. While they were cleaning his teeth, Dr Patti Webb came into the waiting room and ask me to go back and take a look at a spot on the inside of his jaw. She said she needed to take a biopsy to make sure it was not cancerous. I agreed to have the biopsy done because it looked like it might be infected. When I went to pay for the bill, it was $1006.00. I stated that this bill is a very expensive amount and the receptionist said it was because of the biopsy and Dr Webb had the employee take 2 biopsies. I am not sure why 2 was required except they got more money. When I got home and looked at my bill, I saw where I had been charged $268.00 for the cleaning and x-rays. I was also told that my son would need over $10,000.00 worth of dental work done to his mouth. I told her that I could not afford to pay that amount of money. I called the receptionist and ask why I was charged the extra money for the cleaning and x-rays and she said it was because it was comprehensive. I was not told there was any comprehensive cleaning to be done or I would not have agreed to pay for it. I have talked to Dr Patti Webb and told her I was overcharged and she said she would look into it, but never called me back until I wrote the first letter asking for a refund of $119.00 and copies of x-rays and procedures she had determined he needed. I have written 2 letters to Dr Webb asking for a refund of $119.00 and a copy of the full mouth x-rays and the results she determined that my son would need to have done to his teeth, but apparently Dr Webb does not want to refund me any money and wants me to come to her office to talk to her, but I will not be put in a position to be on her property since we are in dispute. Also, I have never received any paper work that shows a copy of any work done to my son's mouth in her office. She is too friendly to be in a Professional Business and frankly I think she is trying to get all of the money she can from any patient that walks into her office. I was not looking for a friend in a dentist office that is trying to get into my bank account. I hope this helps someone else before they make an appointment with this Dental Office. read more
