I found your second profile!!! The one with more than one review has 2.4 stars, this one has 5, lmao. Here's what I said on the one they're trying to bury. I think they're buying Google reviews but forgot to do it for Yelp, too. The 1-star reviews on Google are the only ones that seem legitimate. And giving customers a discount or a gift card or anything in exchange for a 5-star review is indeed buying reviews. I'm 99% sure Patty forces her gum measuring tool 6 mm into your gums regardless of their state because it hurt like hell and I've never been above a 4 before. It would make sense for the ones that were 6s to hurt, but I don't have any symptoms of moderate to severe gum disease and I've never had my gum measurements hurt before. It was pretty close to the end that she started really digging in there, so I guess she panicked when my gums were average and decided to carve out a 6 mm pocket to try and scare me into a "deep cleaning" (a periodontal cleaning, in other words). My partner had an identical experience, we went in together and after Patty gave me my diagnosis I texted my partner to ask her if she was dying of gum disease as well, and she was indeed. I phrase it that way because the way Patty tells you you have gum disease is as though she's telling you you have terminal cancer. "Unfortunately, there's an infection in your gums... and unfortunately, you're swallowing it every day and it spreads throughout your body and can spread to your heart and your brain... [etc etc]." I was polite and neither laughed in her face nor rolled my eyes while she was talking to me, but when the front desk lady came out to tell me I had to pay over $300 for a deep cleaning because Patty the Ripper says so I told her I wasn't doing that. She said once I have gum disease I don't have a choice. Apparently if you can't afford a periodontal cleaning at Gentle Dental you can't get any cleaning done once someone impales your gums to tell you there's a couple of 6s. Oh yeah, did I mention that this appointment was for my annual cleaning covered by my insurance and neither my partner or I received any cleaning whatsoever? I can't speak for my partner because she has a more sordid dental history for me, but Patty's exam is the single most painful thing I've ever experienced at a dentist's office and I'm convinced it's on purpose. I don't know if she has a quota of periodontal cleanings she needs to sell or if she just really hates being a dental hygienist and doing regular cleanings, but from all the negative reviews I've read it seems to be a very common experience to go to Gentle Dental for a cleaning and leave with nothing except x-rays that are your property that at least one other review says they charge you $25 to get copies of. Thanks for using up all my X-rays for the year before ensuring I will never, ever return except for you to nickel and dime me for my records, which I'm pretty certain is illegal but most people don't know well enough to fight you on it. I was trying to get in a cleaning before the end of the year and y'all wasted TWO HOURS to do literally nothing besides x-rays for my partner and I. Desperately seeking a second opinion but I guess my insurance is probably gonna roll over for the year before I get it. Thanks for the only painful dental experience I've ever had and for being pretty blatantly dishonest, not to mention incredibly dramatic. I had a cap fall out while traveling and they got me right in and fixed me up. The place could use some interior work, just cheap dividers and cubicles separate the cheap dental chairs. I had to listen to Michael Jackson's Thriller blasting from a cheap radio in the next cubicle. The people who were there were very nice and the female dentist I had explained everything to me. They informed me teeth other dentist said were okay, were apparently needing attention... and vise versa. Still on the search for a reliable dentist who doesn't want to resort to expensive work that doesn't match up with other dentistries. I came to this location because the location that I have gone to for 10 years ( Gentle Dental Thunderbird) no longer answers the phone, the service is subpar and the office needs a remodel .. coming to this location was the best move ever!! The office is clean, the staff is professional and the bathrooms are clean & fully stocked. Both times I visited, there was hardly any wait time which I really appreciate, it made me feel like they respect my time! The doctor took the time to review a dental plan with me that made sense. I had gotten a crown put in by them and about 2 months later it popped right off. Had called for an appointment and over the phone said it would be no cost. I flew back in just for this appointment and was greeted by very rude front counter ladies. After a quick check they said they would have to make a whole new crown and that they would not cover their poor work they did before that caused it to come out soon after originally putting it in. No concerns for patient at all. I was in a lot of pain from when the dentist drilled the cavity and put a temporary crown on. I was still having a lot of pain afterwards, I went in and they readjusted my bite for the crown. I had already decided that I would not go back to this dentist because she did not even see me when I had to go back in. They showed no concern that I was in so much pain and possibly have an infection. I only went to this place because my dentist does not take my insurance. I decided to go to another gentle dental on bell road and my experience was so much better. The dentist on the one on bell road was more caring and patient and said I would probably need a root canal that is why I was having so much pain. I scheduled an appointment for a check up and cleaning. The experience with the front office staff was less than satisfying as the two women at the front desk were talking with each other and engaging in other activities while checking me in. Another patient arrived while I was being checked in and was waited on while I was still standing there waiting for the older woman to finish checking me in. The person that took me back for X-rays was nice enough, though seemed distracted the entire time and was humming (out of tune) with the music that was playing in the background. The X-ray process was okay, but little concern (laughter in fact) was the response when I informed her of my overactive gag reflex. I can say that the dentist that I was was very nice and was mindful of my gag reflex. I was told I was going to have to reschedule for the cleaning. My dental insurance covers cleanings, however when I went to scheduled, I was presented with a treatment plan that included two services that were not covered by my insurance. I was told that I could not schedule the cleaning without those services being included. I have contacted my insurance company to let them know that this office is forcing treatments that are not covered by insurance in order to access the ones that are. Every time I go, they mess up the billing. I have a discount plan AND insurance and when I went for a crown, they ran the discount plan first and then the insurance which is the way there were supposed to. My total for the crown and two fillings was $400 and I paid it and kept the receipt. I also rejected two services since they were not required and have the paperwork showing I rejected them. Since then I have received a bill every month for three straight months and it is always a different amount. I have called them 4 times and have left messages every time and have never received a call back. There are two different numbers listed online and I have tried both on different days of the week and different times of day and never get an actual human. I am doing everything in my power to get this resolved, but they are incompetent at billing and horrendous at patient service. read more

I was a patient for 3 or 4 years. I had to get a crown. It never felt right and I had very bad cold pain. I continuously went in to ask for help because something wasn't right. I was talked down to and even yelled at once by the guy prepping me for the dentist. Then the dentist comes in and makes excuses for his bad behavior. The dentist did not take my pain serious. They blew me off every visit. Finally after all the complaining of issues the girl working with the dentist says it must be cavities and it will cost $250 to fill them. I was desperate and said ok and paid all that money for what had to be fake cavities. The girl looked surprised I said yes. Finally after 2 years my crown fell out while eating. No one returned my call. I kept calling and it appears they don't check the energy line messages. The dentist put my crown in right this time and no more issues. It was in wrong like I had been saying. It wasn't pushed back far enough. When it came time for another crown I just couldn't let the dentist do another. I went to another dentist. I was told I had cavities on a tooth near where my new crown would be. My new dentist found no cavities. I bet they were just filling cavities to make money, drilling away for no reason on my teeth. Like I said, my new dentist found no cavities gental dental claimed I had. My last cleaning was 2 years ago there and they keep sending me a $109 bill. I keep calling and they say it's my insurance but my insurance said years ago they would deal with it. I shouldn't owe for a cleaning. I tried paying today just to be done with this gental dental and their online read error when I went to pay. Nothing works right there. I called again today about this two year old bill. Said manager would call me back. No call. Stay away! They aren't professional and don't listen to their patients. They made me feel like it was all in my head. As I read all the one star, negative reviews & the canned response from the "business manager", I'm left to both laugh & be even more disappointed in this place. My elderly mom went, what was supposed to be twice, for her regular, every 6 month cleanings. However, the second time it's canceled and has to be rescheduled due to no dentist in the office. The following month is the 'only time available'??? Two months later she gets a bill, even though she has insurance. When she does, what every negative yelp comment here is told to do, and calls to discuss it, she is given conflicting answers...most of which are rude. It culminates in her being told by the office manager, that "this is what she signed up for" and to pay what she owes or they will seek legal action. That balance has been paid off and ALL ties with this HORRIBLE place have been cut. I assured them, I'll make sure every outlet I have at my disposal and everyone I know, will be aware of what a wretched office this is. Seems many have beaten me & us to the punch. read more

Great people here. Donna has been cleaning my teeth for years and is fantastic. You have not had your teeth cleaned until you have had Donna clean them. I loved Deer Valley Smiles for being affordable, and how nice and sincere people who worked there were. In Gentle Dental Deer Valley, they are back to being money-oriented dentists. They are also not too friendly. They scheduled an appointment for me on their own, after I ignored their reminders that I should come have my teeth cleaned again. I needed to call to cancel an appointment I never made or asked to have. There is a $35 no-show penalty. Nice try to get my money and very not professional treatment of a patient. They said they accepted my insurance when I called and made the appointment.They accepted my insurance card the day of the appointment. I paid my deductble and everything seemed fine. I found out several months later that they are not contracted with my insurance company and my insurance company is at a total loss as to why they accepted my insurance card. Gentle Dental told me twice over the phone that my account was paid in full. I asked them to send a statement showing it was paid and they said they would but never did. I recently went to their office to discuss my account and they told me my account was sold to a collection agency the day before and they would not discuss my account. I'm really disappointed in this location. I had an appointment for Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 8am that I'd booked months in advance. I got reminder notices as usual with the Gentle Dental chain, as late as the day before my appointment. On Saturday, I showed up at 7:50am and no one answered my knocking on any of the suite doors. I thought okay, no big deal- they'll arrive shortly seeing as how they scheduled a patient at 8am. 25-30 minutes later I was still standing out on the sidewalk alone, outside of empty suites. No one from the office has returned my three messages or tried to reach out in any way. I would like an apology and thought I wanted to reschedule - now I'm thinking I may just take my business elsewhere. After talking to a friend about it, it turns out he has had this location do the exact same thing to him in the past, which is shocking to me. So unprofessional! I'm very disappointed. I had the first step of preparing a lower molar tooth for a crown in March 2020, but due to the Covid-19, the second appointment will be in April 2020. The permanent crown is ready. The staff was both friendly and very professional. I received great service because they are very experienced and knowledgeable. Also, they were very patient with me because I needed a little more novocain before installing the temporary tooth. This was the first time for me and everything was explained to me step by step. You are not just a number to them and they even told me I could take some aspirin afterward before the novocaine wore off. In addition, I received a small amount of adhesive in the event I accidentally caused the temporary tooth to fall off. It was a big concern to me and they said to just call them if that happened. Not all business's are equal and the positive experience I received sets them apart from the others. Give them a try. I recommend Dr. Hilary Luinstra, DDS and her caring staff, and I look forward to having the second appointment for my permanent crown to be installed. Great job everybody. Thanks! read more

The office is clean and the staff was polite. My review is more based on the quality of dentistry I received. I went in for a bi-annual cleaning, this was my first visit since my new insurance did not cover my old dentist. The equipment is all very modern and they have digital X-ray machines, however after the initial exam my "dentist" came in with an extensive list of things they suggest doing, like removing my old silver filling and replacing with a crown. I questioned why you would ever remove a filling that was giving me zero problems and initially replace with a crown. The answer was that the filling is large enough that if I bit just wrong it might crack and need to be replaced, then proceeds to tell me that insurance covers 1 crown so we might as well schedule at least 1. I got the impression that their goal is to maximize they billable amount on insurance even if its questionable whether you need the service as well as the fact that after all that BS, their dental hygienist was out and they wanted to reschedule the cleaning. Rather than spend 2k on dental procedures and intentionally receive a crown where a tooth now is, I went back to my old dentist and got a completely different opinion from him. I have had quite a bit of work done at this dental office over the last three years. They have reciently changed from Deer Valley smiles. I had great experiences when they were Deer Valley Smiles. Now that they have changed names the doctors seem to come and go very often which raises questions. The place is the most unprofessional medical experience I've ever had. Each time I go it turns out to cost more money than what I was previously told. The office seem soo disorganised that it doen't instill a sliver of confidence. I had an appointment scheduled for about a month and about a week before the appointment I get a text asking me to confirm the appointment so I did. Then several days before an office person left me voice mails telling me that they needed to reschedule me and could on days that didn't fit my schedule. Then I get another text stating that I have an appointment for the orignial date and time. I called to find out WTF; to be informed that the Dr. I was scheduled with was leaving for good and thats why they needed to reschedule. My question would be; the the Dr. just learned that he was leaving days before my appointment that had been scheduled at least a month out? Very unprofessional! So while I was discussing all of this with an office person; she was rude and condescending. FIRST UNPROFESSIONAL, My husband start treatment in December last Year. He want dental implants and new denture. Now is September 2016 and his denture was not ready, but when we told them we will not paid for denture what is not done. We paid for implants but from 6.3. we still recived bill for denture.
