Had a tooth ache and went here. They gave me a temporary filling. I have never had this before. Tooth still hurt so I told them so. She had me come in and get a permanent filling. If I could give less than one star, I would. About 4 years ago, I was going there for routine care. I had knee surgery scheduled in 3 weeks, when I got an achy tooth. Went in and got short course of antibiotics. When I told surgeon, he refused to do surgery until I got clearance from dentist. Dr R refused to give me clearance until I got a lot of expensive work done. Since I am a senior on social security, it took me quite a while to get the money up. ( I have no insurance) But I got it all done. Meanwhile I acquired Rheumatoid Arthritis. Finally rescheduled Knee replacement. Two weeks before the surgery, a filling fell out, no pain, no inflammation, just fell out. When I went to Dr R, she chewed me out and refused to do anything less than a root canal and a crown, which could NOT be done before the surgery. I am so angry. read more

The cleaning itself was fine, but they have shady business practices and the whole thing felt like a sales pitch. 1) I got the "New patient special" which included a cleaning and x-rays. I paid up front for the initial x-rays, and had to come back for the cleaning, which I was told would be free. They tried charging me for it, until I pointed out that I got the new patient special and was told it would be free. So they charged me for the fluoride instead. I was never told that fluoride would be extra, or else I would've said "no". 2) They scheduled me for an endodontist consult, because they said that my old root canal might need to be redone. She found nothing wrong with it, but kept trying to upsell me on special x-rays because she couldn't be 100% sure. I tried saying "no thanks" multiple times, and she kept interrupting me, saying "let me finish" and "I have to offer you the options, can I finish now?" It took all of my willpower to not leave immediately. I may end up finding a new dentist. The only thing that would prevent me from doing so was that the dentist I had seemed to be pretty good at her job. It's everything else in the business that I don't like. read more

This place is worse than a car dealership. You go in for a simple cleaning and they tell you you need 10 other things done. They messed up my bond on the root canal and it's too close to the bone. They told me I didn't have to pay and they'll do it over free of charge. Then I go to receptionist and estimated price 1100. I have to go see someone else first to take it off..and do "something else before" why should I have to pay for anything that they messed up. That's why they have you signing like crazy before they do work on you. My old dentist I never did bull like that. They argue straight garbage . Then they noticed I had another root canal done years ago by someone else. They said who did this, and I informed them another dentist. What do you think happened next? They told me I need a new one on that side and it was damaging my gums or some bull. Mind you I've NEVERRRr had issues with that one. No pain , nor sensitivity but their root canal has been garbage. I can't even chew on the side that they worked on tbh. They suck!!!!! Do not go there. I'm surprised they haven't been hit with lawsuits. I've recently become a new patient at Gentle Dental. One thing they do that I don't understand is they spit new patient visits into 2 appointments, one for X-rays and one for cleaning. But, they neglected to tell me this over the phone, so I was surprised when I showed up for my 1st visit expecting to have a cleaning, only to be told I needed to schedule a 2nd appointment. All the other dentists I've gone to have done X-rays and cleaning at the same appointment. Luckily, I had a day off from work coming up the same week I had the 1st appointment, so I was able to schedule the 2nd appointment for my day off. The service itself was fine and the staff was friendly. I have dental insurance, so the cost to me was nothing. I didn't need any further work done, so I made an appointment for another cleaning in 6 months. I recommended the office to my husband, who also needs a dentist, but he's hesitating to make an appointment because of the weird 2 appointments for a first visit thing. read more

I recently took my dad to Gentle Dental in Quincy ... he has mobility issues and Robin and Florivette were sooo wonderful with trying to position him and his walker in the x-ray machine that does a 360-degree x-ray of your mouth. Dr. Timini and her staff were excellent at fitting him for his dentures. He was soooo comfortable he fell asleep in the chair while they were working on him! I've been visiting Delta Dental Quincy for years and have always gotten great, caring service. I trust them and recommend them 100%. read more

I went in for a routine cleaning. They told me my insurance would cover it. They ended up taking a bunch of unnecessary X-rays and panoramic x-rays. The entire cleaning process took only about 5 minutes. I talked to the front desk, and they told me I was all set. A month later, I got a bill for 100 dollars. I used to go to them off and on throughout the years at different locations. My experiences were never great and I always have a long wait to see the doctor. I had to get an implant in a few years ago and I've had to return twice already b/c the screw inside kept breaking or becoming loose. Every time I go there to get it fixed, they keep trying to put extra unnecessary charges (ie another ex-ray). This last visit in June, they charged me $200 just to tighten the screw...for an implant that THEY did. Now that I have insurance, I go to Dr. Brustin in Quincy, who is so professional and respects my time. A 10am appt is not an 11am appt. read more

Although going to the dentist is not my favorite thing to do, I have found Gentle Dental to be true to it's name. For the past 10 years, I have been a patient of Dr. Sapak, Medical Director of the Quincy office. I first met him at their Cambridge location. After I moved to Quincy, I was THRILLED to find that he took the Medical Director position at the Quincy location. I liked him so much, I would have continued to see him in Cambridge. The staff at Gentle Dental are very friendly, personable, and comforting. I have had oral surgery, braces, and cleaning/exams with the professional at Gentle Dental. I also appreciated the nonjudgmental response I got when I first met Dr. Sapak - I had not been seeing a dentist regularly and was a bit embarrassed by it. He was really great about it and since then I have been on top of my dental care. Gentle Dental is located all over MA. I have been to the locations in Boston (Newbury Street and Downtown Crossing), Roxbury, Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge, and Quincy. In many ways the number of locations is a plus - you are never too far away. Many of the dentists, orthodontists, and surgeons split their hours between locations. So, if you are in need of getting into see your surgeon ASAP, you might have to see him or her at another location. This is how I was able to visit so many locations! All in all, I am happy with the services at Gentle Dental. I highly recommend them to everyone I meet who is need of a dentist. They take most insurances and have a repayment plans if needed. read more

OMFG. I had an abscessed tooth, and these bastards *pulled the wrong tooth.* No satisfaction then or subsequently. I haven't had any other services from them, so I couldn't speak to them, but I wouldn't trust these shysters with selecting a new toothbrush for me. EDIT: In speaking to the owner's comment, I stand by the "no satisfaction then." I did come in to speak with the management once I realized, by the next day, that the wrong tooth had been pulled. I don't necessarily blame the fellow who did the extraction (that was done quickly and with minimal fuss), who may well have been given bad information, but if the on-site manager refused to discuss the matter with me then, and declined my request for my records, I rather doubt much will change, given that it's been a couple years. I have been coming to Gentle Dental in Quincy for 2 years now and highly recommend it. Dr Jan Sapak is an amazing dentist. He is extremely talented and is very professional. Dr Sapak is very good at causing the least amount of pain and not making the dentist experience uncomfortable to the patient. Dr Sapak explains everything clearly and always has the patients best interests in mind. The dental hygienists are very experienced and work well with Dr Sapak. The girls at the front desk are very courteous and pretty. I never have to wait they are always ready for me at the appointed time. I got a root canal done at this place a few years ago, I am now having issues with it because it was done improperly it has caused me to develop an abscess under my tooth. I called them since it's something that is completely out of my control and they should be able to fix what they didn't do right and sterile the first time around, however they said there's nothing they can do about it to help me. I didn't even get an apology. Essentially did a terrible job on my root canal causing me thousands of dollars to fix what they messed up on and then said "sorry but we can't help you" when I tried to call and say they need to own up to their mistake and poor tooth job quality. I think this is a very good practice. I avoided going to the dentist for a few years and finally had to go, and have been very pleased with the care I have received here. I wish I had gone sooner! Dr Katz is very good, and made sure I was comfortable through all procedures. the dental assistants are also very good. I needed quite a bit of dental work and first went to another practice on the south shore, a very posh sedation office, and was quoted an amount in the thousands for 5 fillings 2 crowns, cleaning wisdom teeth extractions-----then I went to gentle dental and found I really didn't need the sedation. They do try to work within your budget and insurance limitations too. I have not had the wisdom teeth out yet, but I am really not worried about it. now! read more

Nobody likes the dentist! Nobody. I hadn't been in years because of a very painful experience. But, a toothache started and I needed to have it looked at. Every dentist I called was too busy, or wasn't accepting new patients. I was very hesitant on coming here, but they were the only ones who could see me right away. These people are super super nice. Made me feel comfortable , and put my fears at ease. Yes, I needed a root canal and some cavities filled. Yes it isn't cheap. Yes it sucks. But the staff at gentle dental are very professional and always make me feel welcome when I walked in. The problem with YELP is people don't get their way, and feel they're getting ripped off so they need to piss and moan and then write a TERRIBLE review to make themselves feel better. My first appointment here was because of a toothache I had in a tooth I had already had a root canal in. Being that the root canal had been the worst experience of my life, I was very nervous going into my appointment. Well the dental assistant and Dr. Katz were super nice and reassuring, and it turns out after a course of antibiotics the pain went away and I did not need any work done on the tooth! YAY. I went back that same week for an exam and a cleaning, and both went well. The hygienist I had was very nice and quick. I have since been back for a horrible toothache in ANOTHER tooth, and they saw me the same afternoon that I called. It turned out not to be tooth related at all (sinus infection... who knew?) but Dr. Katz prescribed me antibiotics anyway, to save me a trip to my GP. Gotta say, he's pretty great. No complaints at all about Gentle Dental, except I wish they saw young pediatric patients so I could take my 2 year son here. read more

Just found out from my new dentist that the abutment to my wife's implant is broken. Gentle Dental told us that all it needed was a new screw, which already had to be replaced by them last year b/c they said it had rusted and broken off. This is the 2nd implant that my wife had done with them that she had major issues with. The first implant had to completely be replaced only after a few years. We are still waiting to hear what the options are from her new dentist, but I've had it with dealing with Gentle Dental. They've still never returned any of my phone calls regarding questions we had about what type of implant system they used. Dr. Neil Fluckiger was my wife Orthodontist dentist. He was a horrible dentist that we have never seen before. Unresponsive and careless dentist. I wouldn't recommend everyone come to this place. Our bill have over billing. With something that we shouldn't been charged for. We to get my wife teeth braces on but they keep make us come in back for another and another time. They tell us the first cleaning is free but now they sent us a bill with $192 dollars. They removed my wife old braces from different dentist that she had on in different states. They have never said anything about the bill or how much it will cost Before we agreed to remove it. Now they bill us $1142 for just removed her braces with nothing else have been done and supposed to be done by the unresponsive dentist. He has no care for his patients that was why we left to different office. We asked for the down payment back. They said they will sent our payment back in 5-6 weeks. The only reason why I am giving them three stars is because the girls at the front desk are super sweet! I am speaking from my experience as everyone's experiences are not the same. I had braces for two years got my retainers which hurt a lot!It was was fine for a while but they didn't educate me that we were supposed to change it retainers which is unprofessional and now that I've switched dentists I have to now get Invisalign which is so much money that I coded used for something else and also I don't need any representative of gentle dental coming at me and replying and looking into my records at all. I just left Gentle Dental in Quincy and I could not feel happier about the experience! I had to have a root canal, which is never fun to begin with but as soon as I met the doctor, I was completly at ease. Dr Speleck(?) was very warm and friendly. He explained each part of the procedure and assured me numerous times that I would feel no pain. I actually felt no pain! It was quick and over with in less than an hour. I come here every month because I have braces. BE AWARE THAT IT'S ONLY EVERY TUESDAY that they serve their patients with braces, so if you have a broken bracket, you have to wait a week to come back, VERY INCONVENIENT. The place has green carpeting and a very out-dated look, I definitely think they need some renovation and remodeling. The ladies at the front desk are relatively nice, ALTHOUGH, they're always on their phones.. or should I say iPhone! There are typically around 3-4 ladies working up at front, so you would think that you wouldn't need to wait to speak to one of them or schedule an appointment - Wrong! Since they're typically on their phones or joking/socializing with one of their co-walkers, they're too busy to help out a customer, and one person (usually the one with curly short brown hair, slow soft voice) is stuck setting up all the appointments and checking people in. The old orthodontist, Katz (I believe) recently retired, THANK GOD! He didn't seem to care about his patient's teeth AT ALL, he was doing his job just to do it, and spent little time with each patient. He is ALSO VERY ROUGH when putting bands around your teeth, etc.. I bled a lot and I was in a lot of pain. I'm very happy about the new orthodontist, Dr. Ping, she's very sweet and patient, also shows a lot of care of each individual. Be aware that each monthly visit, the head orthodontist will not be putting rubber ties around your teeth, rather ladies that work under them. I really don't like many of them... as they seem to not know what they're doing and are very ROUGH. The only one that I do like and is very gentle "hence GENTLE Dental" has short blonde hair and is relatively tall. I had oral surgery here as well. They said my insurance would cover 80%, so I had paid a fee of around $140 up front and that was it. They didn't give me any written documentation of the fee bill or anything. A little later, I was sent a bill that I owed them $140 and the total I had to pay was around $330!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!! Little did I know that with the switch of the orthodontists, Katz retiring and Dr. Ping being hired, they CHARGED ME EXTRA $2000!!!!! I was appalled. Originally, I was paying around $2000 (insurance covered some), and now I am supposed to pay around $4000 because of Dr. Ping wanting to take a look at my teeth again. NO ONE told me that there was an extra charge, I WAS NOT INFORMED! Be aware that EVERYTHING or everytime that someone looks at your teeth/does something, YOU WILL BE CHARGED money! So the lesson is, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ask what the fee will be. read more
