The hygienist is great. My payment experience has been horrible. I was charged $600.00 for treatment with the statement that my insurance would reimburse me. I learned that my co pay was only $69.00. After many many calls to the office and to my insurance company, I was assured that I was due a $400.00 reimbursement. Still waiting. The front desk person assured me that they owed me and that the doctor needed to approve. My insurance company even issued a refund to this office. Yet they are refusing to refund me. I filed an official complaint with insurance. They are now ignoring the insurance company. I walked a letter into the office and got no response. Next step is GA Board of Dentistry and small claims. Short: Dr. Betty convinces you into thinking you need work done and when at your most vulnerable & then does it wrong! Long Story: I never write reviews, but I am compelled to write this to prevent anybody else heartache from going through. I was in a lot of pain, and I had looked at available dentist as I am new to the area. Of course, she was the one only dentist available on such short notice. It was obvious I needed some sort of root canal which she agreed to and added on a list of work I needed: cavity fill ins, wisdom teeth removal etc. I was all fine until the day of the root canal. She seemed to use a numbing that didn't last long at all, as she injected me with the needle multiple times. I knew something was wrong granted the amount of time I was there which was well over 4 hours. Then after struggling with the drill for the root canal, I heard a big crack where she then gave up and said she couldn't save my tooth and had to extract it. I'm convinced she cracked it with all her drilling! She then extracted my tooth. What a traumatizing experience. Update: I went to a new dentist with better reviews where they said I did not have any cavities or need a wisdom tooth removal; I tried to get my x-rays from this gentle family, and they hung up on me all morning and told me I had to COME in person to sign a form to receive my own x-rays. Then after lying telling them I was in pain in the chair they finally sent it over. read more

I was told my insurance company would not cover the work performed, so I paid out of pocket. I received an additional bill for the company stating I owed an additional amount, and my insurance did not pay anything toward the bill. On review of my insurance claim details, I found the insurance company had paid for the work. I requested via fax three times a detailed bill of service from the company. I also supplied copies of the insurance claim outlining the payments made and requested a refund for my out of pocket expenses. I have not heard from Genital Family Dentistry. I searched for a Black-Owned to support my community, sorry to say I found a con artist. Please do not patronize this business. read more

In short: This crook Betty Dillon charged my insurance company for treating a disease that I don't have, then pulled a tooth that likely didn't need to come out AND did it wrong! For years, Betty spent every appointment trying to talk me into extra services. She OFFERED deep cleanings several times. I declined until she threw in that it was covered by insurance. After years of deep cleanings I'm asked to pay (?!). The secretary said it was explained to me that I would get a certain number of free cleanings before I had to start paying for them. I asked for a regular cleaning and she said "That would be unethical". Her answer to "Why" was because they had already done deep cleanings. So it's ethical to NOT clean my teeth at all instead of doing basic cleaning? She only answered me with "That would be unethical". Finally having the hygienist explain. These cleanings are for periodontal disease which is unaffected by regular cleanings. This was the first time I'd heard that term. Betty had not ONCE made mention of me having ANY issues. She OFFERED the cleanings as an option but now they're required? I said I'm not paying for that so what now? Betty did x-rays, I assumed for figuring out what she CAN do instead of deep cleanings. 1 tooth on each side of my mouth needed to come out. I decline expensive cleaning and suddenly need teeth pulled? Suspiciously convenient for Betty's wallet. As we're walking to checkout she's trying to get me to buy this mouthwash that I already said no to. The secretary mentioned paying for my next deep cleaning. I said I'm not returning. She looks into having the cleanings cleared by insurance. She argued me down to pay for it knowing that insurance could pay!!! I don't remember why but my teeth were never cleaned. At my extraction appointment the hygienist injected anesthetic into my gums then left for an hour. When she started I could feel her fingers so she injected more anesthetic. I still felt her cut into my gums. Now, imagine yourself here: Lying flat. A hygienist grabs one of your back teeth with pliers and leans on it. You slide to the right from the pressure. You're pushing the bottom of you're jaw back to the left as HARD AS YOU CAN but it still feels like your jaw is cracking. Stay like this for 3 seconds.... The crunching sound of bone breaking echoes through your head as the pliers jerk one way and your head goes the other. You can relax your tired arm, for a few seconds. And repeat. For about an hour while hearing things like "Why won't it come out!" and "There's so much blood." An extraction takes 20-40 minutes from start to finish. I was in that chair for at least 40 minutes JUST for the actual extraction piece of the procedure. I also learned that it's unethical (but legal) to pull a bottom molar without pulling the tooth above it because the top tooth will shift, become a bother, and need extracting. The hygienist was so tired that she hinted at pulling the other on a later date. I gladly obliged. My tooth was crushed into several pieces. After my child's extraction I was given her teeth; whole with roots. I asked for my tooth and was told some "sanitary disposal" crap. The next day I realized the wrong tooth was pulled. I went to another dentist after 10days of pain and she filled a dry socket and found no gum problems. She doesn't do extractions because she isn't an oral surgeon. She couldn't do my cleaning so I had it done by another (male) dentist. He thinks highly of Betty but said a patient should never be left traumatized and unable to speak on it. He asked when I was getting my other teeth pulled and I didn't understand. He explained why you never pull just one molar. He gave me a referral since extractions should be done under anesthesia by an oral surgeon. At a surgeon's office a young lady came towards my face with something in her hand. I flinched and yelled something like "No". I immediately realized I'd over reacted and felt bad. She understood after telling her what happened. The surgeon said it's ethical-but-not-law to pull all wisdom teeth at once. He also confirmed that I have no oral disease. Since then I keep talking myself out of going to the dentist. read more

I frequented this establishment just yesterday (December 15, 2021) and was pretty much scared into considering a treatment that I had never heard of or knew nothing about by Dr. Dillon. I asked questions to the dentist (who was very straightforward, but when doing her exam, she sounded unsure of her answers) and the hygienist (who was lovely, professional, and answered all my questions, which is why I'm giving two stars) and to the receptionist (who had came up with my treatment plan cost). The receptionist was stern in saying that the insurance would cover for half and I could make a monthly plan but something did not sit right with me. When it came to billing questions, the receptionist acted like I was bothering her and kept mentioning "I've done this before, I know what I'm talking about" but little else was done to appease my worries of out of pocket expense. As a patient and someone who works in healthcare for a few years now, I was completely put off by that. I came in for routine preventive care and left without any cleaning work done, even though I was told I had "extensive gum disease" by them but not by another dentist I had gone to a year prior. I opted out of the service and scheduled another appointment to come in for the treatment. After I left the establishment, I spoke with my insurance who assured me that the work would not be covered. Then, I called the receptionist again to speak with her about the information I had, where she continued to cut me off and belittle the information I received from my insurance. I cancelled the appointment right there and then. I will be requesting my X-rays and will go to another doctor in 6 months time (of course, after doing a thorough search of the reviews). The two good things that came out of this whole experience was that I have adequate health literacy and therefore felt comfortable advocating for myself with them and the insurance company, and that they scared me straight by the cost of not taking care of my oral health. I have since bought the recommended toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss recommended by my previous dentist -- and I'm sticking with a plan. read more

Paid for a crown in advance and still no crown 3 months later. Moved away due to a job and made several calls to get my crown sent. The package I received was another patients teeth. Reached out again and was told they would send it and I waited and waited. Called Cynthia the secretary account Betty never answers and was told she would not send it account I left a poor review. I have filed a formal complaint and I have photos of the teeth that were sent. I am seeking legal action for medical abandonment and poor conduct. Do not go to this dentist. So this is the first dentist I've been to in 2 years due to a very painful and traumatic experience i had at great expressions and i must say i was quite nervous but Dr. Brown was absolutely amazing! I had to get my wisdom teeth extracted and some fillings and he ensured that the process was painless. The only negative was i had to call them several time to ensure that my prescription was called in for the pain medication prior to surgery but even then they were very nice. I am so thankful to gentle Family Dentistry and will be going back! read more

First thing--this experience was years ago. I went to this office in maybe high school or college; at least 6-8 years ago. Dr. Dillon first commented on how much dental work is had done previously, as if that was necessary or professional. I was there for a filling and Dr. Dillon was a unable to numb the area effectively. After repeatedly sticking me with needle and after needle she puts the cherry on top of the pain sundae by attempting to numb me by sticking a needle in the roof of my mouth. Let's be clear--the roof of your mouth is a bone with a thin film of skin to cover it. But Dr. Dillon said it had to be done, because I was probably "resistant to the lidocaine because of all my previous work". Naturally it was painful and I cried, and with tears streaming down my face she looks down and asks "Are you ok? What's wrong with you?" Needless to say after I left I was numb almost into the next day and couldn't feel my mouth, or my nose, cheeks, or throat. Not the desired effect. She needs to have her licensed revoked. She's an extremely uncaring dentist, and I've been hunting for the perfect dentist ever since because I have severe trauma and anxiety surrounding dental visits thanks to her. read more

Betty Dillon (the head dentist) is by far the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL dentist i have ever come by!! I continued to complain about pain after being numbed. More nova cane, Still pain. She continued to work despite me crying and repeating I'm in pain! The most uncomfortable appointment ever. Once u do a filling, they have to smooth out your bite . After 6 failed attempts, she then says "once we do these 2 fillings, you don't have to come back" how unprofessional?! At the end of the day I'm a patient IN PAIN & u then reject my services because i had more decay than u gave me novacane for!! THATS NOT MY FAULT as a patient! Not once was i disrespectful, i just complained about pain! (Which is normal at the dentist) . I'm disgusted with Ms Betty Dillon. Despite her being rude the rest of the staff was nice. My son and I go to this location, and the entire staff will make you feel good and make you feel like you're not at the dentist. This has to be the worst dentist I've ever been to. They're a bad con artist dentistry. The work is so awful that I've had to come back and forth over a 6 month period for a simple bridge. First of all, this dental experience was horrible. The dentist supposedly numbed me before making an incision. Despite my informing her of the pain and my obvious body language indicating I was in pain Dr. Dillon didn't comment at all. She is the absolute worst dentist, and I would NEVER go back to her office or any office that she is affiliated with! We are in the middle of a pandemic so it was difficult to find a dentist that could see me right away. Therefore, when this office stated that they could see me at 10:30 am on February 3, 2022, the same day of my call, I was elated. The receptionist was very rude at the beginning of the visit, but after my dental information was provided, she miraculously warmed up to me. The dental assistant, however, was very friendly and I wished she could have switched places with Dr. Dillon. I would never go to this dentist again and to make matters worse, the receptionist only sent in a partial claim to my insurance company. Based on the claim she submitted, I should be receiving my entire payment back because the insurance covered 100% of the allowed billing. I've contacted the insurance concerning the billing and they contacted the office; the receptionist hasn't changed. She is still rude. Needless to say, I have to fix their scam artist ways to ensure that I receive my monies back. Again, I wouldn't recommend Dr. Dillon, nor EVER use her again! Going forward, I will be completing thorough research before getting any dental work done. This office scamed my insurance company as well as myself out of $7000 which luckily I was able to recover at least $2000 back with the help of my insurance company going the extra mile to bring this office to justice. I went in for a routine cleaning during my visit I inquired about veneers, and crown replacement. I was told that they could start the process the same day the lady ran my insurance, and told me that my coverage sucked, and I didn't qualify for any benefits from my insurance which was a complete lie. Long story short I opened a care credit card to cover the expenses, and low and behold my services were covered, and after further investigation my insurance company actually cut them a check so they were paid twice. This dentist office did a horrible job on veneers which I am getting replaced by a different office, but the whole experience was horrible. read more

Would give zero stars if possible.. I was going to this dental office, and during the exam she said I needed crowns on all of four of my front teeth.. I asked the dentist and the staff on mutiple occasions if they could fill the teeth instead of the crowns because they are so expensive. She told me no.. So I saved up the money paid down on it and she shaved my teeth down, and put in temporary teeth.. So at this time they had not billed my insurance, so when they did my claim was denied.. Because there was no intensive decay on the xrays they sent.. So now they are reviewing the claim and I cannot get my permenant crowns until I come up with the money or they approve it, but my thing is this why did she shave my teeth down. It was hard enough to come up with the 1000 and now 3000.. They dont communicate they yell at you saying you owe.. do not go here please they are scammers, and they are very unprofessional.. Went to get annual dental readiness exam, reqd. for military. Gave specific reqs of exam, & they agreed to call insurance to verify coverage. On day of appt. they verified (3rd time) that the service was covered (they assured me they called). Turns out, certain services they performed were not covered. Upon 1st inquiry, the clerk stated that they NVR call until service is completed! The mgr. refused to address the misinformation, &instead accused me of not wanting to pay a $30 overage. When I asked to simply speak with the doctor before paying my bill they refused. Ive repeatedly called the office for the last 3 mos, & have been unable to get a call back from the dentist. Forget the terrible service (talking on cell while cleaning teeth, sore mouth for a week because of terrible cleaning) the customer service was nonexistent! I dont know what kind of clientele they deal with, but it was evident (while yelling at me) that they are used to pushing people around! I am insured with Blue Cross Blue Shield (who keep a call log). My insurance confirmed no calls were made to verify insurance coverage. The same manager that assured me that they had called and confirmed specific insurance coverage later told me that they didnt have to call to see that my insurance covered a basic exam. He refused to address why they repeatedly told me something that was not true. Blue Cross stated that they preformed Xrays that were not nconsidered standard for a basic exam. In addition, the Xray tech had to retake the Xrays over, and seemed a little confused. Had to get repeated guidance from the Doctor (who never spoke one word to me past "what are you here for today". Had to remind them that I had scheduled a cleaning with the appointment, and it seemed to throw them off their game... read more
