We drive right by this office every day and so of course I said there's a vet right down the street so location is a huge plus. I called just needing some questions answered and everyone was so friendly and so accommodating they got us right in. They were very understanding about not wanting to spend a huge amount on surgeries. They were really flexible with our concerns and helping to figure out the best treatment for our new cat.

I gave this 3 stars because I have been going to this office for 10 years but after this last…read morevisit, I won't again. I was given a different doctor than my normal and she was rude, making judgements and not hiding her irritation. I went in a for my puppy's yearly exam only to be told he'd need $2000 in surgery. When I told her I'd need to talk it over with my husband before scheduling she started to tell me about how he's too young to die and trying to scare me into the procedure. I didn't appreciate it. I wasn't turning down doing the surgery, I was wanting to do more research on what he's dealing with and when to schedule the surgery. I would never spend that money without talking it over with my husband. I called later asking to do an antibiotic since she told me it was an infection he had. I was then told it was not an infection but a disease and then other issues that were in his notes that she didn't tell me about. I don't trust them and feel like they were trying to make money off of me versus what is best for my puppy. That being said I am getting a second opinion and going from there. I will not give this office any more money or time and recommend others avoid it.

I wanted to know if they could provide basic costs for their services. She said she could only tell me the routine dental cost of $297 and stated that it is their policy not to disclose prices of their services and that I would need to bring my pets in for a new patient visit $66 each then the doctor can evaluate and provide an estimate based on what was needed. I informed her that I was not requesting an estimate, just to know how much they charge for certain services to compare other hospitals. I already have an exhaustive list with codes and descriptions and was encouraged to compare prices of other hospitals. She again cut me off, restated that she can only tell me the price for a routine dental and to have a good day. I am not sure if Best Friends Animal Hospital stands behind this employee's interaction with a potential consumer, but I would not support or trust any business that does.

Be very careful if you want to choose this small practice, I can no longer recommend them despite…read moreloving my vet when allowed access to her. I thought it was great to have an office that was close to my home, especially in case I had a sick pet that I wanted to get to the vet quickly or without a long car ride. Unfortunately I discovered that they aren't equipped to handle this and refer out to emergency centers much farther away, even when you call as soon as they open. I was informed that because they are a small practice I should have known to have a secondary vet lined up for when my pet gets sick, despite never being informed of this at any point in the past. This is not something I have ever experienced at any other veterinary clinic and don't know why I was expected to have this understanding. After I had my dog seen elsewhere and got her diagnosis (infection caused by E. Coli) I tried to get ahold of my vet again to get instructions on an upcoming procedure but never received the return call I was promised by office staff. I had to cancel the procedure that had been scheduled months in advance because I didn't know if it was safe while my pet was being treated by the other hospital for the infection. I attempted to address the situation again after the procedure was canceled because I still hadn't received a return call and was told I didn't warrant a call from the actual vet because my dog urinating blood wasn't that serious and my dog was already seen elsewhere (at their suggestion). I was also informed I shouldn't have been told I would get a return call from my request to begin with because they do not have enough staff to guarantee responsiveness. I don't think wanting to ask the actual medical professional a medical question is such a wild expectation from a pet owner, especially when they didn't see them for a current illness and have them scheduled for a procedure requiring anesthesia a few days later. All I wanted was reassurance that it was safe to go ahead with the appointment or confirmation that I needed to wait and reschedule after the infection cleared, but I was denied the opportunity. Update: I received my pet's records and discovered that the front office staff that took notes from my calls (TW) was not the person I spoke to and the notes they left were judgmental and inaccurate. They stated my call requesting to speak to my vet about an upcoming procedure was only a call to say I took my pet elsewhere. There was no note indicating what I truly asked for. They also labeled me "hysterical" on all of my pets files for being tearful and scared on the phone when my pet's urine turned to pure blood. It's clear I wasn't listened to, my concerns weren't taken seriously and I was dismissed for being a concerned pet owner. The office staff is why you can't rely on the practice.

I wasn't going to post this but a year later I'm still so upset with our service we got here. I'm…read morealso only telling my story for others to be aware of this place. My dog was hit by a car last year at this time. 2 am we rushed her to Collinsville and they took X-rays and said she had a dislocated hip and that the right side of her was paralyzed (because she wouldn't put weight on her right foot and she couldn't stand on her left without crying out in pain . They had told us she wouldn't have any quality of life unless we did tons of said surgeries they also wanted us to let them give her fluids and overnight care but when we told them we couldn't afford more than 1500 . She came back with the xray and told me that She would need her right leg amputated and surgery to her dislocated hip because she wouldn't make a "false" joint normally because she would only have one leg. We had already spent 1k that night they wanted to put her down but it was going to be $300-500 because she is a Great Pyrenees Anatolian Shepard and we would have to still transport her body back with us . I cried endlessly and asked the vet if she was positive she said she was. We told them we would take her home and spend her last day with her and take her to our local vet that Monday. They did give us some pain medicine after I continuous asked for more than just gabapentin they finally gave her something stronger. Then I asked for them to email me all of her xrays. Monday we took her to our vet after spending two days with her thinking it was our last moments. Took her to our vet he immediately looked at her said because her tail was moving she was not paralyzed and then looked at the xray that Collinsville took and she in fact had a right pelvic fracture that's why she wouldn't put weight on her leg NOT that she was unable to. He had said with her being 2 years old she had a lot of life left in her and that dogs heal amazingly and he was right ! She healed perfectly and runs around like she always did before . Idk how many times we thank god that we listened to our gut and took her home. It scares me how many times they do that to others to get $$. We would have might of put her down if it was $100 ya know? And no this wasn't just an easy mistake it was very clear it was broken and the vet was a SEASONED VET with years of experience. It makes me sick to think people are having to put their pets down if they don't have the $$ to do their treatment. GET A SECOND OPINION!!
