I cannot believe how heartless the owners were. I had the 1st appt of the day at 9:30AM, Four hours in and no word. I called to check in and was told I'd hear back within the hour. Almost 2 hours later and still no word, so I went to see for myself. They were working on my dog when I got there, he'd been there for 6 hours at this point. I asked why the delay and they said I'd have to ask the groomer. I asked is the groomer the boss or are you and they just stared at me, My 100lb labradoodle apparently waited in a cage all day and they had no explanation. I have not had the best experience with dog groomers, to say the least. Why on earth would I invest in a mini-poodle??? It was a pandemic adoption in 2020 when going outside wasn't much of an option as it was a necessity. I focused too much on hypo allergenic and not at all on maintenence. Apparently when the world shut down, so did most groomers. After almost 2 years of trial and error with groomers and multiple unsuccessful attempts to teach myself how to cut his hair, courtesy of you tube, I only managed to barely keep his hair out of his eyes. I stumbled upon this groomer. Same day appointment. I was skeptical so I arrived early and while I waited in my car I saw three perfectly groomed pooches walk out. After copies of the vaccine were made by the front desk, the groomer came out. She was pleasant and quickly established a rapport with Melo. He was pretty matted and she told me most of his hair would need to come off. No surprise there but I asked her to save what she could. A few hours later, donned in a red tie was my adorable poodle. She did cut down most of his hair but styled his ears. I am beyond thrilled. Two compliments from passersby on the way back to my car. I found what I hope is my forever groomer. I took my pup here for the first time after reading good reviews. the name gentle touch does not meet what happened to my pup. When I picked my dog in the afternoon, I only inspected the dog when I got home. I found multiple scrapes and cuts on his skin by the belly near his and cuts with dried blood on the inside of his ear. I tend to question the validity of these reviews, To the proprietor of the place you need to figure out how to check the dogs when they get groomed and not allow for someone to hurt the animals even unintentionally. read more

This was my first time taking my Yorkie to the Gentle Touch Grooming and I obsoletely fell in love. Scheduling the appointment was easy. Once I got there a lady I believe by the name of Jane (not sure about the name) thoroughly listened to what style I wanted. The wait time is short compared to the other places i have been to. My dog was ready in an hour and a half and he was groomed exactly how I asked. They also gave him a little tie. The price is reasonable as well. I definitely will be bringing him back. Of all the groomers in Brooklyn, I would recommend Gentle Touch over them all. Hyla, Daisy, and Eric are the *sweetest* people, and they run the place remarkably well. They're very good with sticking to appointments and time constraints (from what I've seen, the little place runs like an assembly line), and they treat their clients like four-legged royalty, taking extra care to note your pet's particular neuroses or medical problems (i.e. if your dog doesn't like being touched on his ears or something). And when your puppy's appointment is over, they tie a little holiday or seasoned theme bandanna around his neck just for a cute touch. They remember names and faces too, which is always a delight when I say my last name on the phone and they already know who I'm bringing in. :-) The address is a little out of the way for some people since it's on the far side of Marine Park, but it's worth it for a happy dog and great service. For the curious, relative prices for a full cut/shave-down fall at around $45-50 for a medium-sized dog. read more

I love this place! We adopted a very nervous cocker spaniel last October. He has a very hard time with new people and struggles with being touched, especially if it involves loud noises (i.e. clippers). I was hesitant to bring him to the groomer at ALL, but as soon as I met Barb at Gentle Touch, I felt assured he was in good hands. After about 2 hours, they called my cell and said he was ready to pick up. I went in and he was happy as can be. I was SHOCKED when Barb said he was loving and a good dog the whole time! I'm going to start this review off with 4 stars. I'm feeling pretty optimistic. I was recommended by my aunts neighbor. My dog Brooklyn is going there today for the first time. His appointment is in 2 hours. I sent him with my husband who has a clear picture of what I want him to look like, so lets see if they can pull it off. I will be back to update this review later, with pictures. C'mon Gentle Touch, dont let me down!! Revised after grooming: Ok so Brooklyn is back home. His body cut is amazing. Serena did a great job with that. His face cut was not what I asked for AT ALL.....I wasn't elated about that but tolerated as his hair grows quickly. He looked happy and I liked the little bandana tied on his neck. I was quoted $65 flat by Seagan. 55 plus 10 to brush his teeth. When I picked him up I was charged $70. I never nickle and dime so I let it slide, but no one could really explain the additional $5. Serena stated Brooklyn was not matted at all which I knew already...anyway, I just wrote it off as a tip...but next time I will pay what I was quoted...and tip on my own. After having tried Gloria's Dog Salon (see my previous review) this place was a God send. The groomers are personable and treat your dog as if it is their own. They do a great job and my dog always leaves there smelling so good with a cute little banana around his neck. The price is fair ($50 for a medium sized dog). They stick to appointments and when they say your dog will be ready in 2 hours, they mean it. They also pay attentionto whatever special needs your pet may have, which is very important to me.
