During our most recent visit a few days ago, my 15 year old dog was returned with a giant bruise on his right shoulder and a fractured rib (after a vet confirmed with an x-ray). He is traumatized from this experience. While the groomer did apologize, she had no explanation for what happened. After years of trust, I expected transparency and care--not silence and uncertainty. Ann Marie is the worst groomer you will ever encounter. I have been going to her for years with my 16 year old Maltese. We arrived home when i picked my dog up i noticed a cut on her belly. I called Ann Marie and she said she did not cut her, " i would never do such thing". Rather than admitting to the accident she denied cutting my dog. The tools she are using are clearly dirty. What an amazing experience. Price was great, and the groomer did an amazing job and was incredibly accommodating. My dog has separation anxiety and I felt really bad leaving her there because I could hear her barking after I left, but when I came back to pick her up a couple of hours later, she had calmed down significantly. She wasn't groomed for a couple of weeks because of the bad weather and she got very matted so quickly being that she's a yorkie/shih tzu. We have been going to Viva La Pooch for over 13 years. To say that Annmarie is just a groomer is furthest from the truth. She is a friend, she is family, she loved my dogs as if they were her own children. The attention to detail she gives both of our shih tzus is a class above all the rest. I cannot say enough great things about Anne Marie and her work! She is truly a joy and the most caring woman. I have taken my two Maltese puppies in the past to other groomers in New York and they have always been frightened, often shaking in the car on the way there. I never understood why and I had changed groomers twice. What made me finally change groomers was after one of my dogs caught an infection -- she stopped eating, became distant, and was no longer herself. At the first groomer, my dog had been cut and we had little luck finding a good groomer. With my last try being Anne Marie's, I told her my worries and she made sure to have my dogs done first and together because they were nervous. She is the nicest and sweetest lady and reassured me countless times that they would be alright and how she treated them as her own. She even sent me pictures throughout the session and let me know when they would be finished because she know of my concern. The puppies turned out beautiful and for the first time, they weren't shaking or nervous when me and my daughter picked them up. They were wagging their tails and happy as ever.
