So this is a long over due review, came here and got a deep tissue and reiki session from Elizabeth. Wow! Let me just tell those reading how amazing that was! I have been to Massage envy and massage green spa (both corporate) and none of those experiences or quality of service have outdone any of my experiences here at Gentle touch spa with Elizabeth! She's very communicative, friendly and professional! Her compassionate and insightful nature really shines through when she uses her expertise and she is very knowledgeable. For example she encouraged me to try and do yoga to alleviate back pain and stiffness, which, has helped me tremendously! That kind of level of customer service is amazing, when you have anyone that cares that much, it is rare ! The reiki session was an out of this world type of an experience in the best way possible! If you ever wanted to try one, definitely would recommend Elizabeth to you ! Words can't describe well enough, you would just have to try a reiki session. Closest things in words I can use is that it felt like an out of body experience! After sometime of last coming here, I have to update my review. I stopped coming here because after my package of so many touch ups, I felt that I was getting a little ripped off. Trust me when I say that I miss my lashes but I don't miss dishing out so much money. When looking back, I had came back for every touch up possible. I obviously wanted to get the bang for my buck so I decided to wait about 10 days or more. Whenever I came in, I always had to pay more in addition to whatever I had originally paid for getting a package. So my advice to new customers is do not buy any package. Just pay up front when you get your services. One downer is that you, as a customer, can't really decide or know what you need. Sometimes, I felt that I needed a fill but Maritza would inform me that I would need more for the fuller look that she really believed in. So while I thought that a $50 fill would do the job, I'd often have to pay about $75 or more. Personally, I like knowing what I am paying or about what I am paying. I would lay down for her to fill my lashes and she would tell me that it was going to be more than expected. I have to admit, she worked with me sometimes but even so, I felt that it was too much for the product. To top it off, there really isn't a guarantee to how long these lashes will last. For some, it will be about a week, others even longer but for me, it was about a week until I needed to get a fill. This was the biggest concern for me. I would come in and each and every time, we would talk about how I take care of my lashes, what is going on to change the length of how long they were staying, etc. Each time, nothing was really said to be the reason for why my lashes didn't last that long. We even tried making the lashes shorter, thinking that my lashes weren't strong enough. This didn't change much. Overall, I liked coming here but I have to say that there are some pros and cons. I want to be completely honest for new customers. I loved my lashes and she definitely informed me of the differences, scams and what not but I feel that there should be a set price for a fill. For instance, 25 individuals for $50 then if a person wanted more lashes, then it would require more money. Just saying... read more

It's been a very long time since I got eyelash extensions, I don't particularly enjoy the procedure so I don't get it often. The lady worked on my lashes about an hour and half, I chose more natural length, I wouldn't want my lashes to look too fake. The glue was burning my eyes, especially my left eye. Guess I am just too sensitive, but it passed eventually, phew, I really hated that part every time I get eyelash extensions! Turned out she did a great job, my lashes look much longer but still natural looking, very pretty! For $150, it was worth it, I will be back for retouching every 2 or 3 weeks for sure! read more

Don't be fooled by others....if you are looking for fabulous and gorgeous yet amazingly natural looking lashes don't look else where. I love my new long lashes thanks to Maritza, she is amazing with her work, she takes her time to assure every lash is placed in a right spot. Keep that in mind initial set takes around 130 to 2 hours....however the setting is so relaxing. Maritza was incredibly accommodating and extremely patient. I came here after a long drive from Santa Monica, and was running late. I called to let her know that I would be 15 minutes late and she offered to stay open later than that for me. She brought me into the room where she would be applying the lashes, but we spent about 20 minutes discussing different options for my liking. I had had them done once before and I hated it, so she made sure to explain every little detail. I was extremely adamant about not having a dramatic look. I wanted to make sure they looked real and natural, and she did just that!! She explained to me that she would not add a full set, just a few, and if I wanted more she would add more. In addition to the positive feeling and grace Maritza exudes, she uses the elements such as the sound of water and gentle natural music to extract our crazy lives out of us and RELAX!!!! The lights down low, rich ruby colors drape along the walls - almost a Moroccon nights feeling. Initially, I came for my dull lashes. Maritza consulted me with the "look" I wanted - for athletic/natural to drag lashes - she can really put it on. I made an appointment with the owner, Maritza (who was going to do the service) less than 24 hours prior to my appointment meaning I spoke to her directly at 2pm on Saturday, June 18, 2016. My appointment was made for Sunday, June 19 at 9:10am, THE FOLLOWING DAY. I was at the salon exactly at 9:10am and the door was locked so I called. This is a quote: "I called you and texted you this morning you didn't call back. I thought you cancelled. Sunday like this (whatever that means) people tend to no show all the time. Maritza is AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! I went to her after reading all the great reviews on yelp... She is wonderful. I wanted to get lash extensions done. As it it turned out, my lashes were really damaged since I had went somewhere else previously and their "eyelash extensions" pulled out my natural lashes! :'( So I have gaps in my lashes... Maritza could have EASILY done the lashes for me, charged me full price and sent me on my way... But she didn't... She cares enough about her clients that she explained the lash growth process to me and even applied a few lashes for me. So now I look like have lashes! :) Gonna go back for re-touch & hopefully by then my natural lashes will have grown in the empty gaps and I can get a full set of lashes... First time customer here and I wanted to share my most recent experience. I did a reiki healing session for the very first time and was comfortable and relaxed the entire time. My healer was very informative and explained the entire process to me from beginning to end. After the session I felt very relaxed and at ease but what really amazed me was how well I slept the night of. Last minute plans led to this last minute salon. By far one of the biggest mistake I have made. At this point iv been to so many lash salons that I've seen it all but this one beat all of them. From the burning glue in my eyes and Martha not doing anything to help all she said was it will go away as your eyes are closed..I'm sorry what?! Burning glue in the eye does not just go away, not even a mini fan to soothe it until she was done she turned on the fan. Man when I first met Martha she looked really nice and is really nice but I've never felt such an eye burn that I had to get my eyes check after my trip. Anywho moving forward with my touch up. The final result? From far they looked nice but up close you could see that lashes were glued together ALL OVER. When I say all over I mean all over the lashes and eye lid that it left me a red scar from the glue and lash. So sad. Multiple lashes were glued on top of each other that you could feel he heaviness of the eyes. I'm not going to lie but it hurt. Never have I felt such heavy lashes and it was all because I was so jammed packed with glue that the my eye doctor told me I had to take them out as they were improperly put and glue was all over my eyelid and all lashes synthetic and natural. So many fell out and I still feel the pain in my eyes. Not worth the money. I think My journey of trying to try different salons is coming to an end after the damage this place has done to not only my lashes but my eye. The owner Maritsa assisted another girl in doing my eyelashes, which cost 125.00 and took them 2 hours which they didn't even finish due to me having to finally ask them to stop so I could leave and make it to my birthday dinner. Later that night my eyes became very red and itchy, I waited to see if it would go away, which it didn't two days later I call her and inform her what happened. She offered no refund of any kind. She said this happens sometimes. She argued that it's me and my sensitive eyes instead of owning the fact that she put a less then product on her customers. Eyes are sensitive, it is not the first time I had the service done just the first time I went to this establishment due to the fact my normal place Blossom Beauty Lounge in redondo beach was booked that day. Also at blossom its way nicer inside they charge 25.00 less and your by the beach! Plus they use quality products! No allergy reaction there! And the set takes them only 1 hour! Found Maritza on Yelp and read a lot of her great reviews so I made an appt for today at 3:30. .. Drove there and her doors were locked so I knocked and didn't get an answer. I had to call and leave a msg. She called back and I waited for 10 minutes. Really hot outside! Would have been nice if she let me know ahead of time. Didn't get too irritated but it already started off weird. Well at least to me. Anyways, her place was nice and pretty and it looked really stylish. The lashes took approximately 1.5-2 hours. I read that she is a perfectionist. I don't think she is. I also don't think she is so gentle because she jerked at my lashes a couple times in my left eye tugging and check this out-- she didn't say anything like-- sorry, are you ok?-- did that bother you? blah blah. And when I told her that my eyes were tearing, she said she knows because what she was doing with my left eye. Okay-~~ I was kind of annoyed that her head rest was uncomfortable and 30 minutes into getting my lashes done, someone came by to talk to her about property. She simply got up and didn't tell me where she was going and went to talk to this lady for like 10 minutes while I'm in there waiting for her to finish her personal business. I thought that was weak sauce and she could have atleast told me so I wouldn't be annoyed in my mind with my eyes closed. My right eye looks fuller to than my left-- because she missed the edge on my left eye. They look okay. After she was done, she didn't offer me a mirror to look at them. She just took a picture to show me my lashes, then she walked to the front to collect my money. Hahah!! I was like- lol no rapport at all huh? I didn't want to be rude so I paid her and said thank you and tipped her $20. Btw it was $149 plus my gratuity. I was happy to get in my car with my new lashes until I looked in the mirror in my car. Like I said, my left is not as full as my right. Where I work, it's really important that you treat your clients like special guest in your home because you want to make a good impression. I've gone to Gentle Touch a few times now. I know that the place is in the process of being updated but I noticed that they don't change the clean or change the covers you lay on regularly. I listen to Maritza as she often times is interrupted by calls or people walking into her spa. When she gets to your other eye, she tends to push down on the set of lashes that she just put on your other eye (accidentally) giving them a little smashed look. I've also listened to her speak on the phone with customers and have found that she is curt, not very flexible and has a short fuse. Every once in a while her daughter, Elizabeth will work on my lashes when Martiza isn't available. Elizabeth is FANTASTIC. Very sweet and cares about her customers. I wish they offered more packages for full sets, touch-ups, etc. but they don't like some of the other places. I too feel like sometimes I am getting ripped off for the number of times I come to get touch ups. Overall, she is a nice lady but she needs to be a little more caring and empathetic to her customer's needs. read more
