The biggest joke of a place to rent anything. No communication, miss Measurements, & when I went to try on the suit I rented it didn't fit at all. All what I had to hear is fat jokes and jokes about how I have a bad thyroid gland. They will make fun of anyone with medical issues openly in front of you! Don't recommend! Decided on GQ after winning the fab five deal! First impressions at the initial appointment was very rushed, but we made the downpayment and hoped for the best. The day of our wedding the groomsman's had the wrong color bow ties and pocket squares....A brides real life nightmare! Also the best man's pants didn't have a button. When we returned the suits I was told sorry and someone would give me a call. Two weeks later & I haven't heard from them. So very disappointed we decided to give them our business! read more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! The people who run this outfit are rude. The fit of my tux was mediocre at best. When it came to returning the tux, they were closed on Sunday and I was unable to get there between the hours of 10am and 6pm on Monday due to work schedule. By the time I returned the tux on Tuesday they had charged me an automatic $25 late fee. You know what the excuse was, "we are a family business." Perhaps this family should get their act together to offer reasonable hours to return their rentals. Charging automatic late fees may be the reason they are closed on Sunday at 6pm on Monday vs. 8pm. We used Gentlemen's Quarters in Elmhurst for our spring wedding. I cannot reccomend a better place for renting or purchasing a tuxedo for your wedding or other event. The staff is so exceptionally knowledgeable on tuxedos, it made everything go so smoothly. When we went to choose what we wanted, they let my husband try on anything and everything he was interested in to actually wear it and see it. In terms of getting our groomsmen measured, they made the process so easy, whether they guys went elsewhere and dropped a postcard in the mail or came in to the shop to get fitted. As our wedding day approached, what I particuarly liked was their attention to detail. At Gentlemen's Quarters, you are custom-fitted by their talented tailors and employees and you actually try every piece of clothing for the tuxedo when you pick it up. This allows for custom-tailoring of each part of the tuxedo. My husband has stood up in weddings where he picked up a tux in a bag (they didn't have dressing rooms) and hours before the event found out the pants were too short or the shirt didn't fit or the shoes were too narrow. But at GQ, the quality of the clothing and accessories were wonderful, everything looked FANTASTIC! The staff is VERY knowledgeable on everything you need to know about tuxedos and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone to use for your wedding. Horrible customer service on the day of pickup. The lady who helped us appeared rushed and bothered just by us being there. The suit was okay. Fit as expected. Upon return, I was charged an additional fee for a rip that was not there when I returned it. Regardless, apparently the insurance did not apply in this case. I was told I could purchase the pants if I'd like because they were now unusable. Being from out of state, they knew I would not return to buy their second rate suit. To begin, words cannot express how handsome I am. But numbers can and I'm usually a 6 or 7. Like many, I've wondered what it would feel like to live life as a 10. To turn heads like DiCaprio in Gatsby, or DiCaprio in...anything. Well, thanks to GQ Formalwear, I finally understand this phenomena. Until recently, I had never attended a wedding, prom, or any event that would warrant a tux. After receiving my first ever wedding invitation, I knew it was my opportunity to step up to the plate and discover just how attractive I was capable of being. For this, I was in need of reinforcements. I researched the best tuxedo rental companies in my area and messaged three. GQ was the ONLY business to return my call, and they called me the very next morning! I spoke with Jordan who was very enthusiastic and professional from the onset. He kindly walked me through the process and invited me in for a fitting the same Saturday. I accepted. ...BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE... The Queen B at GQ-Donna-greeted my girlfriend and I as we stumbled in late Saturday morning. We were escorted to a beautiful fitting room and instructed to browse through a wide range of tuxedo styles to get a general idea of what I wanted. Thankfully, Donna was also there with her decades of experience to stop me from making the fatal mistake of selecting an all-white tux which is apparently the Cardinal sin when you're not even a member of the wedding party. (Again, newbie here.) Next, a gentleman named Wally entered to take my measurements. I liked Wally. Wally is sage enough to know that when a man is at his most vulnerable-about to be measured from head to toe in front of his woman-you ALWAYS add 3 inches to the glamour muscles when you announce the results. Thanks again, Wally. Within a few minutes of being measured, Donna and Jordan returned with a couple of options to try on. I love that they stock their own inventory! What a luxury... With the full support of my girlfriend and the GQ team behind me, I went with a blue tux with black lapels and the perfect wine red bowtie and pocket square. GQ was kind enough to accommodate my busy work schedule and allow me to pick up the suit the same day as the wedding. Even when I arrived late for my final fitting, Jordan rushed to get me everything I needed to look like Leo. I won't bore you with any of the wedding details, but let's just say even the groom came up to me at one point and said, "I'm jealous man! I wish I had a tux like that." My entire experience with GQ was spectacular. I've never felt more confident in my own skin. Great experience overall! My boyfriend needed a last minute tuxedo and GQ was able to help us in a pinch. We were in and out of the store in 30 minutes with a perfectly fitted tux in hand! The staff was friendly and helpful. If you're in a pinch for a suit, I would definitely recommend this place. This is the only place in/near Chicago that is able to accommodate a same day tux (if they have your size available). Would recommend calling ahead of time to make sure they have your size on hand. It's hard to review this place, as my husband did most of the interaction with them, but I'll tell you from what my experience was, and what I know... My first experience with GQ Formalwear in Elmhurst was when we were looking for a tuxedo place for our guys. We went to three places, and this one, was hands down the best place we visited. It was the only place that actually had tuxes in-house for my husband to try on, and the man that helped us was sooo nice. It was also pretty large, so we didn't feel cramped trying things on, and because they focus on tuxes, they were very focused on us, as opposed to the bridal shops we went to, where they were more concerned with the brides who walked in. now obviously, when I was shopping for my own dress, I would have liked this kind of service, but now that we were at the stage of looking for tuxes, we needed someone who was going to focus on us for that! Anyway, the prices were also very reasonable, and the coolest thing was that he told us that they always have tuxes in stock, so if by chance a tux doesn't fit one of the groomsmen, they should have one in stock that should. So that was MY experience with them. Unfortunately, when it got closer to the wedding, apparently the lady that works there was not as nice as the guy we had worked with. Again, I don't really know the whole story, but my cousin did have a complaint that the lady was very rude to him. I kind of just shoved it off as her having a bad day, but then a couple days later, my husband had to deal with her also, and she again apparently wasn't very nice. First off, 7 out of the 10 guys who needed tuxes from there are out of towners. They all were coming in the Friday before the wedding, and had planned to go together to get the tuxes. Already on Thursday the lady called my husband saying that people need to start picking up their tuxes. He told them that the rest of everyone else would be there Friday. When he talked to her again on Friday, she then rudely insisted that they come separately and at different times. So my husband had to recoordinate everything with all these people to make sure it would fit into everyone's busy schedule (with people working and needing to travel to chicago during crazy Friday traffic!). What I don't get is that they said that all the tuxes would be there no matter what, and that they even have extra in-house for "just in cases"... Then why did it matter when we picked them up, as long as it was before the wedding? Anyway, like I said, that's all I really know about the whole situation - hey it was the day before my wedding.. I had more important things to take care! All I know is that the tuxes are usually the easiest thing to deal with, and according to my husband, it become more stressful than it should have been - in fact it caused him and some other groomsmen to be late for our church rehearsal.. Overall, I would still recommend this tuxedo place, as they had some good choices, and are exclusively a tux store. If at all possible though, I would then coordinate in more detail beforehand then with them on when to pick up the tuxes so that they don't surprise you the day before your wedding. read more

My fiance and I weren't entirely sure we wanted to wear tuxedos for our wedding because of my concern we would look 'frumpy'. We had no idea what was in style and appropriate for two men in their 50's. We spoke less than 5 minutes with Donna and she nailed our style cold. The owner took our measurements and we tried on the tuxes they recommended. We were shocked at how much we liked what we looked like, not having worn a tuxedo for over 35 years. We selected coordinating bow ties and vests for the ceremony, reception and dinner and long ties and suspenders for dancing. We got so many compliments from our guests throughout our wedding day. We did not run into any issues with GQ, everyone's tuxes looked great the service was good and pic, up and return were easy. We used the hotel pick up option, which was nice. It was strange to me that they gave my dad and my father in law shoes with rubber bottoms saying that they usually give fathers those shoes because they are less slippery. Both of our fathers are in their 50's, they really don't need slip resistant shoes that are hard to dance in. They also did not ask my opinion on this, they just did it. read more

I was asked a little last minute to be part of a wedding for a close friend in October '12. I called the place and had a lady answer. I let her know the situation and instead of saying she would give the groom a call to confirm I am part of the wedding now, she started saying the groom had to give her a call and started telling me that not all the grooms men had gone in for their measurements. Uh, not my problem lady. She obviously needs to work on her customer service skills since she was really rude over the phone. I had MY wedding a few months earlier and didn't have to deal with attitudes. If it was up to me, I would have gone elsewhere for the tuxes. Since I really had no other choice, I visited the store in Elmhurst. I was greeted by 2 gentlemen which were great at what they do. They honestly made me feel I was appreciated and couldn't have provided better service! Then.....I was transferred over to the bitchy lady to check out. While I was counting my money to pay her (I had a lot of dollar bills since I work for tips) she had her hand extended. Usually people proceed to put their hand down and let someone finish, but no she also started tapping her fingers with the other hand. RUDE!!! Anywho I just wanted to get out of there so I didn't count the bills twice. The day before the wedding I went to pick up the Tux and was helped out by the lady again and this time she was the kindest person! (Talk about bipolar) Overall, GQ knows what they are doing and they know it very well, I would just tell the lady to take her happy pills before dealing with customers. read more

We worked with Donna from GQ and she was very informative. She did a consultation with us to try to decide our groomsmen attire and more importantly what my handsome husband was going to wear. They also had attire for my little ring bearers (5T). My husband was able to try on many different tuxes during the consulation to decide what style of tux he wanted to wear. He's 6'4 and they still had many different things for him to try and choose. He took himself and all 11 of our groomsmen with him to do their fittings. He said all went smoothly and efficiently. The pick ups and drop offs were pretty smooth too. After the wedding, we returned my husband's tux and we were missing the cufflinks and his vest. They didn't care about the cufflinks and they gave us a 7 day grace pd to return the vest or they would charge us $60.00 for it. I thought that it woudl be more than $60.00. But luckily we had just left it at the hotel and we returned it the next day with no extra charge. They were quick to reply with any questions we had. Their prices were comparable to the chain stores with better service. They have 2 locations - one in Elmhurst and one in Schaumburg. We were happy with the service and product. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with GQ formalwear. We had won the Fab Five deal at a wedding show near O'Hare airport, and couldn't have been happier to have won such a great deal with such a wonderful company. The Fab Five deal included free groom tux rental, free groom tux, reduced price on additional tuxes for bridal party (groomsmen, usher, dads, grandpas, etc), hotel pick-up the next day, and a GREAT deal on Carlson Crafts for invites, thank yous, and anything else in the catalog/binder. The people there were wonderful to work with. They advised well on getting tux fittings around the busy prom time. Meghan was great to work with when we were first trying on colors/patters/styles etc. My husband was in the Marines and his groomsmen that were out of state were able to send in their measurements with no hassle and everything fit perfectly! When we wanted to change the color of the undershirt to ivory (instead of white), it couldn't have been easier and they handled it very well. I truly enjoyed working with Donna for the invitations and thank yous. She sent multiple drafts to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. I am not usually picky, but she allowed me to feel free to share any detail and changed it accordingly. Ed, the owner, was unbelievably helpful in picking out Kevin's free suit to keep. He stayed late and hemmed it for him right away. If you get a chance to work with GQ formalwear for your wedding (especially if they have the Fab Five deal or something close to it), we would definitely recommend them to you!
