I purchased an expensive suit online and brought it here to be tailored and ended up having to have all of the work redone elsewhere. I don't know much about how suits should fit (I don't wear them regularly) so I was really relying on what they suggested to do. When the work was done the suit just looked really sloppy and fell off my waist. Being a nice Midwestern boy I just said, "thank you, looks great" and paid in full. But when I got home and tried it again it was a mess. I brought it to another tailor on Fulton and it fit fantastic when they were done with it. If you know exactly how you want your tailoring done this shop would likely be an OK option for you--the prices were fair, they are very friendly and the turnaround time as promised. If you're looking for guidance on fit you would likely have better luck elsewhere. read more

Great place if you're looking for quality work for serious hemming. My wedding tux (blazer and pants) came in too big and they were able to make it fit perfectly. Even after the second fitting, she insisted that more adjustments be made so that the suit would be perfect. I'm extremely happy with the end result: a charcoal suit with a birds-eye pattern, the suit hangs on me well and feels so comfortable. I was across the street for Gabriel Enterprises Chicago Embroidery to get a little Korean flag patch sewn on the sleeve of my Greek line jacket and wanted a different patch taken off of it to put it in place. They said this wasn't possible because of the stitching and offered no solution to it so I went across the street to here. I also explained what I wanted done here and they said they couldn't unstitch what was already on as well because there was too much stitching, but said they could put a piece of fabric around the flag patch to make the covering bigger. They originally said they couldn't have it done until a few days later but I explained that I wasn't out in the area often and the tailor put the project he was doing on hold to get my work done. it was more expensive than what I was expecting but I didn't mind paying it for the quick, prompt, quality service. Unlike the other reviewers of this establishment, myself and my friend did not have a very good experience dealing with Adrian, who is presumably the owner of De Louice. Granted, we brought in (by appointment of course) a bridal gown with a significant amount of beadwork. The dress needed to be taken up at the bottom and on the sides, which is not a lot to ask. Adrian was surprisingly rude to us once we showed him the dress. He repeatedly commented while pinning the dress that he "hates" when people bring him work like this. At that point, we became disheartened and asked him nicely if he would like us to bring our business elsewhere. He said no, but continued to sigh dramatically and grimace while he pinned my friend's dress. It was very uncomfortable for us both. We continued to repeat that if he was so uncomfortable we'd take the dress elsewhere, but he said no, it was fine. We even said several times that it was fine if he charged more money for this than a regular bridal gown because we knew it was a lot of work. But even that didn't make any difference in the way he treated my friend. Because of his inappropriate behavior as a business owner, my friend has decided to take her business elsewhere. My boyfriend and I checked out this store after noticing his grand openning deal of a free custom shirt with suit. It was pretty awesome. I've never been to a suit fitting before, but from what I could tell, Adrian was very professional and conscientious. He took a ton of measurements and listen attentively to what my boyfriend wanted. He had a lot of fabrics and designs to choose from. I never knew there were that many options and variations in one suit! I LOVED the result. It fit beautifully and was exactly what we wanted. $500 for a quality custom shirt and suit is a steal. Highly recommend this place. It took two and a half weeks to get done. Not really the best experience. He attended to me and everything, but I told him it was my first time there and he wasn't that helpful. I think he made me do things that I didn't want and he didn't ask me any specifics about what I wanted. I asked lots of questions and he barely answered me. The suit came back a little tight for dancing (which I wanted), I couldn't lift my arms above my head. He also suggested that I tailor one of my shirts that isn't for a suit and later to my dismay I found out after I had it tailored. Like other reviews said, Adrian isn't going to chat your ear off and he probably won't give you a ton of guidance. That said, I had him make me a suit, and I couldn't be happier. It fits perfectly. Now, all of my old suits are useless because I know what it feels like to wear a suit that fits like a glove. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. I'm now waiting on my second suit to come in. My advice to anyone is to do your research before you go in. Adrian will ask you what you want and some of the terms might be confusing if you've never bought a suit or had one made. Make sure you go in knowing what you want and what is in style: color, material, notched vs. peaked lapels, single or double vents, slim or traditional fit, number of buttons, width of lapel, etc. My suits from Adrian cost of just over $500, all-in. I'll never buy another suit off of the rack. You could by a suit at a discount store, pay to have it tailored, and it's still gonna cost you about $500. In the end, you'll have an ill-fitting suit. This guy has some serious skill, but his customer service needs help. I went there last year to have 2 suits refitted, including jackets. The cost? $100. Pricey, but like I said, he's got skills. But then I asked for one of the suits earlier then the 10 days he gave me to come back and pick it up. Everything is 10 days, even just a hem. When I came back on the agreed upon day, it wasnt ready. So much for my big presentation. But he gave me a $50 gift cert to make up for it. I've been saving that gift cert for almost a year and went back last week to get a pair of jeans hemmed. No hello as you walk in the door, not recognition that you are a customer. I tried the pants on, he pinned them, it took all of 10 mins and we probably didnt exchange more than 5 words to each other. I went back today to pick them up. I gave him the gift cert. Since it cost $25 for the hem, he wasnt sure how to use only half the cert. I suggested he give me a new one. When that didnt work out, I asked for him to just cross out the old amount and write in the new one, sign it and give it back. He was nonplussed. Yes, he makes fantastic clothes and has an eye for style. I suppose he is an artist, but his artist attitude isnt gonna bring him back any customers. For seriously nice tailored stuff, bring it to him and dont expect to exchange pleasantries. But for a hem for jeans or to take some pants in, go to your local cleaners. read more

I was a little hesitant as a woman entering a men's suit shop - but Adrian was good to work with and I never felt uncomfortable. I had a beautiful pants and vest set made for my civil union ceremony. I had read other reviews, and knew to be prepared for my visit. I brought in a pair of pants and a vest to model my order after. Adrian was helpful in the sizing and customizing of my new garments. we even brought in the wedding dress to make sure we picked just the right color for my outfit. we DID run into a communication issue toward the end of our transaction. I believed that we had discussed that an alteration was included with my order, and Adrian did not seem to think that was the case. We resolved the issue amicably. I would def come here for another custom piece if I should the need arise. read more

I first went to see Adrian to have a jacket altered. I figured it just needed the sleeves and length shortened. After some enlightenment by Adrian, it needed a lot of work which I had him do. I was blown away by the before and after difference in good tailoring. The man knows what he is doing. I received a ton of compliments on the jacket the first time I wore it. Inspired, I returned to have Adrian do a custom suit for me. When it comes to fit, Adrian will tell you exactly what needs to be done. When it comes to your suit, you need to have an idea of what you want and in hindsight I understand why. There are a million different options you can get: peaked lapel, notched lapel, ticker pocket, pocket angles, pick stitching (highly recommend this), side vents or center vents, button height, functional sleeve buttons, etc. If you have no idea about this stuff, do some research or ask a buddy that knows. You have to have some sense of what your style is and what the suit is for: conservative for business, dual purpose or something strictly for social outings. Once you have a sense of what you want, Adrian will lead you the rest of the way. It took about 90 minutes or so for Adrian to take all of my measurements and for me to pick out everything. For my first suit, I went with something a little edgier for social outings. Three weeks later, my suit and shirt showed up and I was blown away by how it fit. While I was trying it on, there was another guy there getting his Indichino suit fixed which fit horribly. By contrast, Adrian nailed my suit and it fit perfect. I get tons of compliments on the suit and feel like a rock star wearing it. While I was out one night, I had a rep from Thomas Ford approach me in a bar and thought for sure I was wearing once of their $6k bespoke suits. In reality I spent about 10% of that. Since, I've had him do several suits and several sport coats. Once he has all of your measurements on file, all you have to do is pick out the fabrics, buttons, options and in 15 minutes you're done. Slam, bam thank you mam. I've sent several buddies to get suits done by Adrian and they've also been blown away by his work. read more

My first impression walking into De Louice was that it was a bit cluttered. The storefront is small, crammed with suits and equipment. The proprietor, Adrian, seems to always be busy fitting someone and it took a few minutes before I received an acknowledgment. Based on some of the other reviews people may find this type of no-frills customer service off-putting, especially considering the amount of money they are spending. I prefer to think of it as no BS. A custom suit here is truly custom - meaning that you have to choose every single aspect - whether or not you understand what you are doing. I went in with a magazine photo and was glad that I did because, not only was it easy to show Adrian what I liked, but I also referenced the photo when making the numerous decisions. The process begins at a table with fabric sample books. You choose your suit material from literally thousands of tiny swatches. There 4 different quality levels of fabric and the cost of your suit will depend on which level you choose. After you've chosen the fabric you have to select the liner and buttons and make about 10 decisions related to things like lapel style, pockets, cuffs, pleats, etc. Adrian doesn't readily volunteer much help with these choices, however if you ask him he will show you examples and explain the pros/cons to help you decide. He comes across as a serious man with little patience, but he actually has bit of a dry sense of humor. Once your measurements and choices are finished, the suits themselves are manufactured in Korea. Due to an upcoming even I paid for rush delivery and had my suit in exactly two weeks. Without the rush the expected delivery time is 3-4 weeks. When my suit arrived it fit so perfectly it didn't need a single alteration. Adrian completely nailed the suit that I wanted and it looked exactly like the style in the magazine photo that I had brought. The man knows what he is doing. read more

De Louice has itself a new client. I am now getting another piece done and based on my initial piece, I have high expectations that my new piece is going to turn well. There are so many fabrics to choose from and a wide selection of customization that Adrian (Owner) can do for that perfect suit/shirt. I really admired his expertise in suits and expertise on different suit fashions. This place definitely has a younger, hipper style so I'll be sticking with this place for a while. Never having gone through the custom suit process before, I wasn't sure what to expect and the whole process can be intimidating. My brother is getting married in a few months and all of the groomsmen are wearing black suits - so I took this as a perfect opportunity to get on the 'custom' train. I have not even received my suit back, but wanted to remark on my experience as I don't think many of the other reviews depict an accurate portrayl of De Louice. Adrian was more than helpful in walking me through my first custom suit experience. Sure he doesn't have the warmest personality to a stranger but he was forthright when discussing pricing options, as well as when I would ask him his suggestions on fabrics and other custom decisions. He takes his time taking measurements and making sure the cloth will wear to your body type. I also can't see myself buying any more dress clothes off the shelf - De Louice is so reasonably priced that it doesn't make sense! A 'nice' suit and all the accompanying alterations are generally always going to be more than the $500 that Adrian charges for his custom suits (obviously have to pick a fabric within that range but there are PLENTY to choose from). From our conversation it sounds like more often than not his customers pick out their next custom piece when they come in to pick up (shows the quality and fit of their work), and I can't wait to pick up my first suit!! read more

I really think you will find this review unique and informative: Adrian (the man you will undoubtedly interact with) will tell you that he makes his suits from scratch. However, through an unfortunate set of circumstances (for him), he was forced to explain to me that, actually, all he does is take the measurements. He then sends those measurements to S. Korea, where the suits are made. I'll repeat-- Your suit is is not made by him. It's made in South Korea. I went into De Louice (on a platform of great Yelp reviews) two and half weeks before a wedding I had in New York. I went in with a suit I had just purchased elsewhere and asked Adrian to make some alterations. I asked how much all of these alterations would cost; he said about $500. He said for that cost he could make me a suit from scratch! I would be able to pick my own fabric, the inside lining, and every other little detail. Further, he said from his perspective, it would be easier for him just to make the alterations on the suit I had, rather than make a suit from scratch, which would be much more labor intensive, but he "really wanted [me] to have a suit [I] would love." He said the $500 he charges for a custom suit just covers the cost of the fabric and he doesn't make any money on "all the labor [he] puts into it." Two and half weeks later, I called Adrian to see if the suit was finished: "Well, actually the suit isn't here," Adrian said. "Well, I leave for New York tomorrow, Adrian, where is the suit? Can I just go pick it up wherever it is?" With a lot of reluctance, he explained that my suit (and all of his suits) are made in South Korea. He apologized, but said that it should be arriving to O'Hare airport tomorrow, and he would overnight the suit to me in New York. He calls me the following morning to say that he has the suit and can get it to me in time. However, before he ships it, he wants me to send him a text message with my credit card number and expiration date, so that he can charge me for the remainder of what I owe him. He also says that I will be responsible for the cost of shipping: $170! read more

Let me start out by saying that I rarely take the time to write a review, and when I have they have been 5 stars. That said, my experience was bad enough with De Louice that I felt I HAD to give some disclaimers about this place before other potential customers go based on yelp reviews. First of all the owner, Adrian, is about as smug and abrasive as they come. Like a quiet combination of Leslie Chow from The Hangover and Kanye West in personality. That's fine, that's not a deal breaker for me, but if you're going to act like the best tailor in Chicago back it up. I came in to the shop (based on the positive yelp reviews) to get my wedding suit and one of my groomsmen's suits altered. I had a DKNY Suit I got from Macy's that was a nice suit, not italian or custom made or anything but nice. My groomsman had minimal work done to his suit, just some basic pant and jacket alterations. I had virtually the same thing done to my suit except that I had the shoulder padding moving towards my body to enhance shoulder definition. After we spent 30 minutes there getting sized up the owner gave me the total cost, $500. I'm by no means a cheap person and I'm more than willing to pay for quality when it's applicable but I've never heard of getting 2 suits altered for that price. That's robbery in my book. The price of the alterations was identical to the cost of the suits. Adrian used the same line on me that he used with other customers to sell me a custom suit, "You should just let me make you a custom suit for $500." but I didn't want to have a different suit that the rest of the wedding party. Regardless, I wasn't going to just walk out of there (although I probably should have) after he gave me the $500 quote and decided I'd give him a shot. After almost 2 weeks of not receiving a phone call that he promised me to let me know the suits were ready I called in and found out the suits were ready to be picked up. I came to pick up the suits with my same groomsman that I originally came with (obviously to see if the alterations were done correctly) Right after we walk in to pick up the suits the owner looks up my name and has difficulty finding them. "No worries, we'll just wait until you get them." When he finally found the suits he didn't know which suit was for me and which belonged to my friend? I mean how ridiculous is that? You are a professional and you know you did additional work to my suit that you didn't do to my friends and you can't figure out the difference. After the owner did decide which suit was mine and which was my friends he still didn't seem confident. So, we then proceed to try on our suits, I look in the mirror fairly happy with the results but there still seemed to be excess padding in the front of my suit and the additional $ I spent on having the shoulder pads moved wasn't really noticeable. I told him, "the suit looks pretty good.' His reply, "it's not perfect but it's a little better." COME ON GUY! I just spent half a G getting these suits altered and instead of just appeasing me you say it's "a little better." Even if you're being honest, I'm getting married in 2 days and you have been working on the suit for 2 weeks, give me something better than "a little better." This guy has no tact act all, I think a littler Customer Service 101 would do him some good After squaring the tab, which I did pay in full, he said, "next time I'll make you a custom suit for your wedding." Thanks dude, I'll keep that in mind the next time I get married. In closing, I will say that my suit did look good for my wedding and so did my groomsman's. However, it certainly wasn't $500 good and I would be much more likely to head to just about any other tailor in the future other than this guy. If money is no object, and you don't mind getting treated like you have a severe learning disability while you're there, I strongly recommend this tailor for someone like you. read more

Went to Adrian Park to have 3 suits hemmed and tailored. One suit just needed a pair of pants hemmed, while the other two were very big on me, needing a lot of work done to bring them back to form. I'm a flight attendant and my uniform/dress needed major work. Let's just say I'm petite and shapely with hips, thighs, and curves. The company dress is the contrary: straight from top to bottom. To make a long story short, Adrian Park and his lovely aunt were the only folks in the city who were able to successfully alter the shape of the dress. Given their expertise in custom designing, they were able to change the shape of the dress and yet retain the uniform design. When my dress was finally complete, it looked flawless and beautiful on me. I felt beautiful! The best part yet, Adrian Park is honest and fair! The price tag was steep at $225, but the job was worth it. I added an additional $50 since he underestimated the labor. As a result I paid $275! read more

I've purchased two suits from Adrian over the past year and have been extremely satisfied each time. Adrian is professional, detail oriented, and friendly. When I wear the suits, whether for business or at weddings, I always receive compliments about how they fit. So far, the suits have held up well with regular wear. Regarding price, there are several options. There is an affordable option which is comparable to the price a department store would charge for an off the rack suit. With Adrian the fit is much better, which makes a big difference. There are a lot of style selections that need to be made when buying a suit - lapel, jacket vents, buttons, pockets, etc. So come prepared knowing what you want or bring a picture of something you have in mind. It looked good when I picked it up, but I'm really amazed since I've been wearing it how many people have stopped to tell me how good it looks and fits. Had a Tux tailored here and they did an exceptional job. It went from a poor fitting tux I never wanted to wear to a sharp cut look that I can't wait to pull out for my next event. I've had both tailoring of off the rack garments done and a custom suit made by Adrian. The tailoring is quite expensive, although worth it if you're have serious alterations done. I'd think I would bring my tailoring elsewhere in the future, just based on cost alone. As for custom suits - wow. The guy has an eye for details and worked with me and my girlfriend to ensure I got what I wanted. He's not the warmest personality, but I found him professional, courteous and attentive. I was somewhat skeptical about the quality of a custom suit vs. something I would buy at a mens' store, but the finished product is a higher quality of anything else I own, and it fits like a suit is supposed to. My only gripe would be that the selection of fabrics in the $500 range is somewhat limited relative to the other price ranges, but that is probably to be expected. Overall a great experience.
