Buyer beware!! terrible service , caught the salesman "Wayne" in an outright lie. Wayne said the store did not have my size he only wanted to show me high end suits in the back corner. I'm an average size guy and observed the store had a multitude of suits, I took it upon myself to find a suit in my size. After finding a suit in my size , I questioned Wayne. He said he didn't show me the "other"suits because their garbage , cheap material" Wayne then measured my waist which I know to be a 34 and gave me a size 40 pant saying they run small and the seamstress would make the pants a perfect fit. As I was being measured,Wayne was writing everything the seamstress said on paper. I then went to pay for the suit at which time Wayne was going to town ringing up the register. I soon learned everything (alterations ) were an additional cost. When said and done Wayne charged me $130 in alteration fees To sum it up, I picked up the suit tried the same on in the presence of Wayne and without exaggeration the pants were 3 inches above my ankle. I was furious after spending all the money in fees and in need of a suit for a wedding. Wayne said what's wrong "Guy"the pants look great still lying trying to convince me the pants looked good. I literally threw the pants at him and demanded a full refund. A woman behind the counter the manager I assume asked what was wrong. I told her this story at which time she was kind enough to give me a full refund saying "I will talk to him" I proceeded to Macys down the street and purchased a beautiful designer suit, Wool which looks great and was cheaper in price after given a discount. Avoid Wayne can't miss him fat guy in his 60's full head of grey hair looks and acts like a clown. read more

He demonstrates skill and attention to detail. He does more than "snip, tuck and stitch" to take in the garment. He deconstructs and reconstructs it for a custom fit. The saleswoman that was working with me had no personality at all and could not have cared less about what I was looking for. I was trying to get a tux rental and felt like I was being pressured to buy a suit instead. She never gave me her name, never asked for my name, and was totally devoid of any recommendations or helpfulness. Everything was just an automatic "No" and contradictory. I ended up going down the street to Men's Warehouse instead and was wonderfully taken care of there. It's no longer a mystery to me why more of these locations have closed their doors. I've been going to this store for awhile now. Selection of suits is outstanding along with vast array of dress shirts ( plenty of French cuff selection) and great tie selection as well. The real Ace in the hole here is the tailoring , Guys, how many time were your suits pants too long, too short or waist just not right after tailoring ? Well, I hate to give out my secret weapon but I'm going to put it out there for the sake of humanity . There is a tailor at this location that is bar none the greatest tailor in the world. Talk about a chilly reception. When I came here to get fitted for a tuxedo, I immediately noticed how strikingly cold the temperature was inside the store. My apartment thermostat is set at 69° (giggity), and this Jos A Bank was significantly below that....my guess is low 60's, which may be all fine and well for suits, but it's less than ideal for customers. Apart from that, on my 2nd visit (to actually pick up the tux) I stood around for longer than I should've had to before someone finally helped me. It might have only been 5 minutes or whatever, but being that the store was colder than my ex's heart, it felt like an eternity. AND I really, really had to pee, so that only exacerbated matters. The gentleman who got me fitted for the tux deserves big props. I forget his name, but he was a huge dude (easily 6'2, 200lbs) with a radical beard. Other staff weren't quite as friendly, however. Having never attended prom (wah wah) I wasn't sure how much rental tuxedos cost, so I'll assume that $200 for the 1day rental was reasonable? With no basis for comparison, all I can say is that everything fit my slenderman body nicely and the thing I was most concerned about (the shoes in men's size 12W) wound up being super comfortable. I guess I'd come back here again at some point. Just go easy on the A/C, fellas! read more

It was the last day of their sale, so my husband wanted to stop in. Salesman was very helpful and I just got to sit and enjoy the fashion show as my husband kept trying on clothes. Whatever was not available in the store in the correct size but different color was ordered and then shipped directly to our home. That certainly made it easy. I only needed a new pair of business casual shoes as I was starting a new job soon and it was suggested by a family member I try Jos A. Bank. Well, after telling Steve (store associate) my large and extra wide size I needed he was honestly quick to tell me he did not carry and was unable to get anything in my size in the brands he carried. Before I could ask if he had any suggestions on where to look next, he recommended the shoe store right down the way. Since it has been many years since I have been to the Oak Brook area I knew nothing about any shoe store in the same mall. Of course, Steve was quick to say if he could help me in the future with anything else be sure to stop by and ask. Absolutely disgusting! 1 star is too much! Beware - this location employs a rude, condescending and very unprofessional sales woman. She couldn't have cared less about selling a suit to my brother. He wanted a suit, a nearly $500 suit, but the store didn't have the pants. He told her he needed the suit for next week, she said "too bad, you waited too long." He asked if another store might have the pants, she said "if we don't have them, nobody has them." My brother calls the Glenview store himself, guess what? - they had the pants - but not the jacket! Absolutely disgusting to have made it so difficult for a customer to make, what would have been a $500 purchase. If this location closes its doors, they deserve it. No customer service = no customers. Our family will never give them our business again. read more

Who knew I would connect with a suit salesman based on Jewel® brand chocolate chip cookies? Hang on for this one, it's a good one. I stopped in about 90 minutes before closing time, and William was on me like white on rice. There's always a bit of a quick uncomfortable feeling for me when first encountering an associate, because it always feels like there's a sales do-si-do in determining exactly what a customer needs, and how serious they are about purchasing *today*. Long story short, we talked about body types, and remarked how unorthodox mine is (barrel chest, spare tire middle, slim the rest of the way down. And he was like, "It's cool. We've all been there. We'd all like to be a 44 Long, but sometimes Jewel chocolate chip cookies get in the way." (My mom is a Jewel baker). A little light banter and some fittings later, and I was out of there with two sharp tailored-fit suits for a decent price. William and the in-store tailor (whose name escapes me, sorry!) took their time and made sure I was happy with my selections before I slapped down the plastic and committed to being better-dressed for a wedding the following week. Word to the wise. If you have to get anything tailored, make sure you give yourself a two-week window, especially during a peak time like now with graduations and weddings in full effect. Heed my advice, and the staff won't hate you, because you won't be asking them to tailor a suit on Thursday for a wedding that weekend. read more

This location was much better than the schaumburg one I visited months before. The staff was nice, especially Glenn. He was very knowledgeable on the different suits and fabrics. We explained how we needed a 3 piece suit for an occasion coming up and he made sure it would be ordered and tailored in time. They also have pretty good deals and it's easy to find coupons. We ended up with the 3 piece for less than $250 which is pretty good in my book. Everything turned out as promised and we were very happy with our experience. read more

I would never recommend this store to anyone. We went there for our wedding and asked wedding party members to spend $300 per suit, and have had absolutely nothing but problems. They order the wrong suits, don't check for problems before calling people in for fittings, and have no consistency from one appointment to another. For a company who specializes in men's suits, they have absolutely no idea how to service customers that need a men's suit! I would have had better luck buying off the rack at a department store. Find somewhere else or you will regret it!! Nothing but problems and headaches. read more

I have visited this JAB multiple times over the past few years. The service is patchy at best and a number of their sales staff are rude. I once asked someone at this location if I could try a shirt on and his response was, in a curt tone, "you can try ONE on." Despite this, JAB tends to provide good value/OK quality for what you pay (sales price)- again, despite below average service and surly attitudes. I spent nearly 1k at this store which tends to get a you a lot of clothing at JAB (three pairs of pants, two jackets, two shirts) + the alterations. The alterations were poorly done- one jacket was ill fitting and overly baggy while the second one's neck/collar was crumpled like an accordion and was still baggy around the waist. I had a minor issue with one of the pairs of pants as well. It just appeared that the detail orientation on the tailoring was lacking. Additionally, my salesperson repeatedly disappeared mid-fitting and I had to stand in almost an assembly line as the rushed tailor marked people's clothing up one buy one. I was also informed that many of the alterations are actually outsourced. In the end, I had to visit another JAB location four-five times to fix the issues I was having with the jackets. One turned out great and I returned the other to cut my losses because I was tired of wasting my time at JAB. The entire process was very time consuming and I would not return. At the very least, I would get the tailoring done somewhere else- but that adds up considering the point of going to JAB is to buy half-decent quality clothing at a low price. In the end, the manager was helpful and provided a gift card in the amount of the alterations (hence two stars, not one), but I still wouldn't come back here. JAB and particularly this location give you the feeling that you are getting a deal. However, what you save in $$$ will surely be lost in frustration and/or time. read more

I've been a JOS A BANK customer for 35 years (Chicago/Milwaukee areas), and while the service quality has generally been very good, I was so impressed with Steve (sales) and Bonnie (tailor) at this Oak Brook location that I felt compelled to write my first review. Needing to either rent or buy a Tux for my daughter's wedding, i wasn't sure what to expect. But this was important to me. Steve could not have been more knowledgeable, patient and willing to help. He brought in several different sizes/styles for me to try, and made sure to get me the best sale price on all my items. With these great sale prices, buying (always a better fit) did not cost that much more than renting, and Bonnie made sure that everything looked better than great. Due to the groom's choice, my son had to rent through an on-line source (not JAB) for his tux, and Steve went out of his way to help measure, discuss styles, fit (slim/regular/short, etc) options...and there was not a dime in it for him! This is the type of service that I reward with long-term loyalty. Glen (mgr) runs a fine store. read more

I've ordered monogrammed shirts from them online so when i heard on the radio that they were having a suit clearance I decided to go. As I walked in I saw an associate talking to another associate so I kindly asked her to help me find a clearance suit. I can tell that he was bothered by my asking, and thus half heartedly began her quest to find me suit. The selection was limited as the size I was looking for wasn't too common. I don't have a gripe with that , what I do have a gripe with is her level of professionalism and common courtesy. She wasnt too enthused at helping me and even laughed at me when I tried on the few suits she offered. I will never be retuning there and will encourage others to do the same. And I don't think I'll be ordering from online either. read more

The only thing worse than their selection is their service. I Went in on a Sunday afternoon and the saleswoman could not find anything in my size. Suits everywhere but nothing in my size. Then she found a suit jacket that was my size but couldn't find pants. While looking for the pants she excused herself and went to wait on someone else. I walked out. Terrible service! read more

Our first experience with Jos A Bank was a fantastic one. Went in on a Sunday morning to get my husband some new suits - even though he's a difficult size to find the store had at least 10 options for him, all really nice. Our salesperson, Ron, knew exactly which fit would look best for my husband's body type, and had fantastic suggestions for ties to match his new suits. We both left there feeling like a million bucks because of the staff's attentive service. My only regret is that before buying at this location we decided we wanted to comparison shop at another "wearhouse" store - BIG MISTAKE. My ten groomsmen and myself all purchased all of your suits for the wedding here. Glen (manager) initially took care of us and really was the only saving factor of the store. There seemed to be a serious lack of communication between the staff and the staff to the manager. Glen was helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable; but the same cannot be said for the rest of the staff of staff at other stores. Suits were getting lost, some went awal, some were said to be there and ready but ended up not. The people doing the fitting are in the wrong profession... Wrong sizes, rude.. Someone had to get their suit re tailored after getting it done there, and another had to reorder last minute because of miss sizing on their behalf. Only make a purchase here if there is a sale of 60-70% off. Their prices are beyond high, only during the sales the prices are semi reasonable. read more

Just got back from this location after shopping for a new suit. I came in looking like a slob: old hoodie, my everyday jeans, ripped up New Balances. I might have looked a bit out of place, but i was greeted immediately without a hint of condescension by a salesman named Ron. His immediate selections were in good taste and within the stipulations i gave him(neutral color, must be woolen,) then he pulled out a beautiful sharkskin charcoal gray jacket and i was sold. Not only was he extremely helpful and polite, he seemed genuinely interested in making me look as good as i could. Although i came in with the intention of buying a dress shirt or two, he didnt push me into the accessory trap like so many retail stores do. When i did ask for his ideas for a complimentary shirt/tie, other employees casually came by and threw in their suggestions. A woman named Linda nailed down the perfect tie for the shirt Ron picked out, and i cannot wait to pick this ensemble up after the tailoring. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone; they know what they are doing, and they seem genuinely interested in making you look good. Check them out when looking for a new suit! read more
