I wrote something here quite long...then came back and cut out a lot. You don't need all the details. If you're reading this, you know the story. A difficult road led to having to find a long term care facility. I have seen other facilities. My mother had developed Alzheimer's in 2018, and very shortly thereafter my father, now alone, also needed a care facility. I engaged in a search, and some of the facilities were heartbreaking. I was frightened by the thought of that being the only option. Long story short, my family was incredibly fortunate to find Encore at Avalon Park in December of 2018. It's a lovely environment. The key here is I was able to let my parents be together. Together in their own small apartment, enjoying their own place, eating good meals, had a routine and received all necessary care. They were happy together, and safe. And...the staff. My eyes are welling up as I write this...my God...what a blessing they have been. They LOVED my parents. My mother passed away (she was 92) in 2022. The amount of tears and grief by everyone who cared for her...the emotion was so...honest. And since then, they have cared for my father as if he were their own relative. Every time I have visited, I have seen their care firsthand. From the Director Monica to the nurses and aids...everyone has been such a reassurance to me. It is June 2026. My father doesn't have a lot of time left. The care and emotion is very evident. I feel blessed to have been able to provide this final gift to them...a nurturing environment that cared. What else could I have asked for? Thank you...all of you. More than I can ever say. I can not say enough good things about this facility. My brother has been there for over 6 months…read moreand I am very happy with the care they provide to him. Encore went out of their way during Christmas to make the residents feel loved and to experience the holidays. The quality of the food is excellent and tailored to the individual. My brother's room is always neat, tidy and clean smelling. He is handicapped, so the staff has done a great job being receptive to his needs. There are a ton of activities. My brother has a full calendar of events to do on a daily basis. Encore has outings and they have a lot of events at the facility so there is a lot of interaction with the public. The location is excellent. It is a block - walking distance to the Publix or the CVS if I need any supplies. I also can walk to about 10 restaurants from Encore, so it is is easy to take my brother out for dinner without even having it get in the car. I highly recommend this facility and could not have found a better place.

This is a house in a gated neighborhood by Waterford Lakes. It is an assisted living facility which…read morewas supposed to only house six people at a time. 90 percent of them were elderly. Robert and his wife, who own Avalon Assisted Living and Avalon Assisted Living II, are under litigation over their license; two of their facilities have been shut down. The state of Florida is trying to shut both of these locations down and it has been an ongoing situation for some time. I was told by David Selby, Florida Assistant General Counsel, that Robert has been in the court in the past over some serious charges that shocked me (I would contact him to find out more as I do not know the specifics). A woman in their care fell and eventually died: http://www.wftv.com/news/local/9-investigates-man-who-accused-assisted-living-mot/32003849 They present Avalon as a decent place. When you visit the place is spotless, very cheap for what it is and Robert and his wife come off as very kind and loving. Almost instantly my parent started complaining about the people yelling at night, the level of mental issues of the people, the staff being rude/overwhelmed, not being able to go outside, not having anything to do besides watch TV. One lady who worked there worked out with them but she was fired rather quickly. Then my parent went back to complaining. I think if they had painting, singing, walking or something then the people there might not be as angry but then again a lot of them seemed to me to not be quiet there in the head so I dont know. They lied to the state about my parent (this is documented in a visit), tried to overcharge me multiple times, feed them cheap food, would not provide paperwork that was asked for, the doctor who visited (Allillin) and the staff would not tell me when they came even though I asked MANY times (once I found out they had not come the day they said so that is probably why they didnt call me to come since they never came when they said), the staff went off in frustration in front of me at the elderly and said "now you wont get your medication" (probably because they are overworked/overwhelmed with the level of care required since every person in there appears to have a difficult time getting around or mentally has issues), I was told that my parent was used to move furniture to another location, I was told my parent could not go outside without me, the doctor who visits Avalon to care for the elderly did not have required medical documentation for my parent when asked for it multiple times, and it was just too much. I would say this bad review is just as equally a bad review for Alilin Family Medicine as I highly suspect they were claiming to see my parent and were charging for it even when they were not. I cannot prove this but why would they not want me to bring my parent into the office - why would they say "oh no we will be there in person" ? When I called to see if they came, they hadnt. Would they have told me they came if I hadnt told them I knew they didnt? My parent complained daily here and even threatened suicide. At the new location, my parent has not complained so I am happy and would have left sooner if I could've found a decent place.
