We initially found Genuine Kitchen and Bath because the house next door to us was going through a remodel before selling. When the realtor invited "the neighbors" for a sneak-peek on opening weekend, were we able to walk through the updated space, evaluate craftsmanship, and speak to Jason who project managed for Genuine Kitchen. We called for an estimate, and Brian saw us within a week from initial call. Our main goal was to renovate the kitchen (the exact floor plan as next door!) and update floors throughout. We also had additional requests but wasn't sure about overall budget, so we asked for these to be line itemed: adding can lights in the living room, add an overhead fan in master bedroom, change interior doors throughout. We ended up agreeing to everything except the doors. But the best thing about this consultation--we were able to talk through timing. We had vacation planned for 2 weeks in June, and it would be perfect timing if demo + floor installation could be completed while we were on vacation. Brian suggested renting a PODS unit for our driveway and that's where most of our furniture lived while renovations occurred. Talking through the workflow helped settle my nerves about the project. We signed our deposit over March 18, which was 3.5-4months from when initial work was scheduled to take place. This ended up being perfect timing for us. Flat front cabinets = 8week lead time, and another couple months to select countertop and kitchen fixtures. We were given a list of items to purchase, and I was eager to select all the fixtures to fit our style and price. I emailed my selection list to Genuine Kitchen, and they were helpful in pointing out some corrections (buy the certified outlets!) and suggestions (cabinet handles are better than edge pulls!). 48hrs before we were scheduled to leave for vacation, we had to cancel (health reasons). Since we had planned to be out of the house during renovation of the floors we secured hotel + airBnB for 12nights. We asked Genuine Kitchen if we could move back into the bedrooms on day 12 of what was supposed to be 14 days. We were so thankful everything worked out and Genuine Kitchen completed the bedrooms so that we could move back in earlier than scheduled. The bulk of the kitchen renovation occurred while we were simultaneously living in the house--they setup a zip wall between the spaces. The work crews were organized, courteous, and tidied-up after themselves every day. We expect dust during construction, but they tried to keep it to a minimum. After quite a while of trying to find someone to redo our kitchen who would do the design as well as the work, we discovered Genuine Kitchen and Bath. Brian met with us to understand what we were looking for and then began creating potential re-designs of our kitchen and dining room space. We went back and forth a bit before settling on the design that we really loved, but we got there. Brian also connected us with a great cabinet designer, Martha at Danmar Cabinets, and during the cabinet design process the three of us communicated via email to ensure we were all on the same page, which was super helpful. From the beginning, Brian was up front about the process, timeline and what to expect during this job. There were, as typically happens, things that came up that we hadn't originally expected. Whenever that happened, we got clear answers on which things were included in the original job cost and anything that would be extra if we wanted to have them do it. Brian's crew was great. His main guy, Junior, was there almost every day and was hard working, friendly, and great at communicating with us. Junior did a great job of cleaning up the job site each day to ensure it was safe both in the backyard and the front yard. We even had neighbors comment on the cleanliness of the job! Junior was on-site working hard every day and managed the other subcontractors as they came and went. Most of the subs were great, though we did have an issue with one of them. But we were very pleased with how Brian, Dianna and their crew handled the problems with that sub. Dianna was a big help with all design-related questions that came up along the way. She gave me clear instructions about where to get things (like the grout for the tile) and helped me decide on the color. It was great to have her expertise readily available to me. Brian and Dianna were very responsive to any concerns we had along the way. They were eager to make us happy and uphold their reputation. In the end, the project extended just a couple weeks past the original estimate of 2 months - mostly due to the subcontractor we had trouble with and a couple extra things we had them do (like add lighting in our living room area). I've heard horror stories from people having their contractors string them along for months not finishing the project. That was not our experience at all, just as Brian had promised, they finished the job completely and efficiently. I highly recommend Genuine Kitchen and Bath for any home project you have. Such an awesome experience, I had to write about it! I had been searching around for someone to do the addition/remodel project that my wife and I had been dreaming about for years. We had been wanting to expand our home for the last few years, and remodel some of the living area, to better suite our growing family's needs. My wife and I met with about 10 contractors over the last year or so, and we decided to go with Genuine Kitchen and Bath, and we are so glad we did! Brian and Dianna were so friendly, down to earth, professional, yet easy to talk to and very helpful. This was the first time we had ever had any construction done in our home... and we had A LOT of questions going into it, and throughout the project. Brian and Dianna almost always answered the phone, or text, or email immediately with answers, and were super helpful when we had to change a few minor items around. They provided us numerous options whenever there was any kind of issue ( whether the material was running late due to covid, or we last minute wanted to change the paint color, etc...) and worked around any small hiccup that the covid factor brought upon us, that was of no fault of theirs, to make sure we were completely happy and that construction moved along the best it could considering the circumstances. Construction had been shutdown by the county for a period of time, and during that time, Brian and his team still made use of the time well, so that the expected completion date stayed on track. The cost of the project stayed within the original quote we received, and was reasonable for how much work they did. We had received other quotes as well which were extremely too high for the work we wanted done, but Genuine Kitchen and Bath came in right where we had anticipated price-wise, and seemed like a good deal with everything they were going to provide, both materials and labor. They also helped with the design of the areas we remodeled. I really would recommend using Genuine Kitchen and Bath for any type of remodeling or addition work, big or small. I really appreciated all the choices in products that I had-- his office staff was great at helping me find just the right shower door. I HIGHLY recommend Brian for any work you need done! My parents decided to move back to the bay area from Southern California and thought it would be a good idea to buy a fixer-upper. Little did they know, it was WAYY more work than they thought it would be. After all attempts were exhausted when it came to fixing it themselves, they called Brian to come to the rescue; and that he did! Brian had to fix just about everything in the house. He re-did the entire kitchen and a whole bathroom as well as a half bath. In the kitchen, Brian did the countertops and cabinets. Finally!!! I've been renting in Sunnyvale for the past few months and every handyman sent to me by my landlord has been horrible. After multiple handymen/contractors I decided to take the issues into my own hands and find someone that could complete the job and do so accurately. I was recommended Brian from a family friend who had used him before and I cannot say this enough, he is magical! No, he's not a wizard, or sorcerer, but he is indeed a unicorn! It's hard, nearly impossible finding a handyman with skills and knowledge in just about everything (hence the unicorn reference). I mostly only needed a few things fixed in my home but it stretched from cabinet refinishing, crown molding installation, minor electrical fixes and a few other issues in the kitchen needing someone much more knowledgeable than myself and the internet. Brian is very trustworthy to have in your home (I was concerned about having strangers step into my house) and so is his assistant who is worth every penny. I had some random jobs to be completed around the house including putting up heavy/large wall shelves, mounting a TV above a super high doorframe, installing glass shelves in a shower, and replacing a front door key set. Brian and his assistant finished everything and did a great job. As with all contractors, you do have to explain everything carefully and constantly check back to ensure everything is being done exactly how you want it. Brian is a nice guy and even offered to come back for free because he couldn't finish some of the jobs within the timeframe he allotted. Brian's rates are lower than most and he doesn't require an upfront minimum (which I find to be lazy and ridiculous). TL;DR: To all potential shoppers, please avoid Brian who was rude and unprofessional during on-site visit. He also tried to upsell us and wasn't helpful at all. Long version: I wouldn't write this review if I thought all contractors nowadays would be like Brian. Apparently not. So we are looking to get quotes for remodeling our kitchen and 2 baths. We scheduled about 4 contractors to do on-site estimates and the owner Brian is the most unprofessional one based on our experience. When writing a review, we look at 2 things and only 2 things: data and facts. During other contractors' visit, they were carefully listening to our needs, taking notes, taking measurements, proactively providing ideas/feedback and trying to sell their business. While Brian was here, the whole visit must be about less than 10 mins. My family and I were talking about what we want to do and our ideas but Brian was staring at us as if there was a bible printed on our faces. He was quiet the whole time. When we stopped, to our surprise, the first thing he asked was: "what's your budget?". Of course we didn't want to give away our budget in this early stage. He then continued: "Well, roughly say, this is gonna be a $100,000 kitchen. If you guys think it's only a $50,000 job. Then we can revisit when you guys are more serious about this." Excuse me??? First of all, what made you assume that we don't have the budget? Maybe we're so young and beautiful that he think there is no way these guys can afford this! Secondly, our whole conversation didn't involve what materials we want to use or anything like that. How would you assume it's gonna cost that much when material cost plays a big part! Even though he was quiet when we were talking about our remodel plans, he definitely did not forget to sell his cabinets business. Attached is the picture of catalogs he gave us. He said if we wanted to start, we can start with cabinets first and let him know. Interesting, he already made the assumption that if we wanted to get kitchen done and we will order cabinets from him..... He even said cabinets alone will cost $20,000 - $30,000. Again, we didn't mention what kind of cabinets we want at all or where we want to get them from. That sounds like he assumed that we'd spend at least $20K-$30K on cabinets alone with him if we want to get kitchen done? Then he also took a look at our bathrooms and provided estimates: $50,000 for the big one and $20,000 for the small one. So that's a total of $170,000 quote he provided. Comparing to other bids we received so far, this is about 30% - 40% more than the other ones. The other contractors itemized each item with clear pricing and we know exactly each item cost, which we really like. I encourage you shop around to get quotes and don't waste time with Brian! read more

Honestly I think I could of done a better job myself with a crew of 3rd graders , they took 5xs longer then expected , came in over budget, constantly asked for advanced payment for work that was not yet completed , " brains crew" only showed a 1/4 of the time then would leave often moments later with no work being done. We picked them because they quoted us a reasonable price for the job and Brian showed a willingness to work with whatever we wanted for our kitchen. Another company we were considering kept pushing the latest thing in kitchen remodels, but we were doing this for us, not to sell the house. Brian did make us aware of those other options, but he respected our choices. Brian's team performed professional quality work. The kitchen looks beautiful; we're very happy with how it all came out. All of the workers conducted themselves in a very respectful manner at our house, and cleaned up after themselves nicely at the end of each day. The painter even cleaned up some paint marks that were left on the wood trim by the previous painter a number of years ago! The granite fabricators explained all the counter edge options in great detail, and suggested putting granite on the window sill, which was something we had not even considered and it looks great. The electrician was meticulous in making sure everything was safe and up to code, improving on the electrical connections we had had before. The cabinet installers did a beautiful job on the crown molding, including in a tricky spot where there was an original beam they had to work around. There were a couple of snags, as I'm sure there will be in any remodel, but we were impressed by how Brian handled them, and how he did everything possible to make sure our kitchen was ready for Christmas. Seriously the best guy in town to help with any "handy man" needs. I don't think there's one thing he can't do. We recently hired him to remodel our main bathroom, and wow! It turned out beautiful! He did an amazing job. He went above and beyond with his work and stayed in our budget! Yay. He's reliable, resourceful, and very polite. It's hard to find someone you can fully trust to let in your home while you and your family is out and about! After the bathroom was done we had him do little jobs around the house that have been neglected to get done. My "honey do list" kept getting longer. Brian and Dianna and their team are amazing! We recently bought a cinderblock home that most contractors were hesitant to work on, if you could get one to even call you back. However, Brian was extremely responsive and provided us a thorough, reasonable quote within 24 hours. We were on a pretty tight timeline, but needed a complete transformation of or home. The home was a disaster and was owned by a smoker of 10+ years. We needed a gutted home to move into with our young son, in less then 8 weeks. Brian and his team were originally hired to work on our floors, ceilings, walls, and lighting. But once we saw how beautiful the house was becoming, we quickly realized how much the kitchen needed to be redone as well. Bryan and Dianna help us think through all of our options and every step of the process. We eventually ended up rearranging the layout of the kitchen and adding all new cabinets, countertops and appliances. At the end of the day they over delivered. They were extremely professional throughout the entire process did a bunch a little extra finishes that we wouldn't of even thought of doing to make a home extra perfect. Our home is perfect, and the best part is that they came out on budget and under schedule. I mean under the original scheduled timeline before we even added the kitchen. That is unheard of! Loved this guy!!! I had to find a handyman on the fly who could do electrical work as well as help install recycling bin component into my cabinet. I found 2 others that took 3 days to get back to me and even then couldn't accommodate my schedule. I finally found Brian and he was amazing. The job required extra work and parts and he still pulled it off in such a reasonable amount of time. Price was good too. I was impressed! Not to mention how sweet and polite he was. I will refer this service to anyone who needs a handyman, he's awesome! read more
