Well, I cannot say enough good things about this place. We called told the fine man on the phone what we where celebrating. After a long day of failed wedding dress shopping, the second we walked in we were greeted by Miss Faye and given her full, undivided and honest attention. I worked with Kim on everything leading up to my actual appointment. It was great! Kim asked more than enough questions to get a good feel for what I want as my gown and for the overall wedding day. She even provided potential vendors that I could use for my wedding. The actual appointment was just as amazing. I worked with Ms Faye, who ended up knowing my fiance's family! That within itself made my experience better. Once I found a gown that I liked, Ms Faye assisted me with looking at accessories for the gown. We ventured our with adding sashes, veils, headpieces, and I even got a chance to walk around the store to get a feel for how the gown would look! With Ms Faye being an alterations specialist, I could envision more of a true fit with her. It was a fun and exciting experience. Geny's comes highly recommended! read more

The floral designer, Melissa Spaid, was horrible to work with. When we received her original designs and quote, it wasn't what we wanted, so we revised it and emailed it back to her. She responded with great, no problem, she would make the changes and get back to us with a revised plan and quote. A week later, ( 3 1/2 weeks before the wedding!), she says she doesn't think she can work with us because we seemed overly "picky", and our email had been "aggressive" - she literally told the bride we were aggressive toward her in our email - I never actually spoke with her in person prior to the wedding. The email was business oriented, not aggressive, and I am more than happy to post it for anyone to review. I own a business and showed it to several other business owners, one of which was another florist, and they all felt it was very appropriate - we were doing business together, not becoming besties! As you can imagine, it's very hard to change florists that close to a wedding, especially in Nashville! She finally agreed to do the job, but only if all contact was thru the bride. Who puts the bride in that position?? Not to mention, her mother and I were the ones paying her! We agreed because we felt we had no other choice at that point. The florals and table settings did end up being what we asked for in the revision, but the entire experience was incredibly stressful! She also wanted to deliver on the day of the wedding hours before she was scheduled to, in order to avoid traffic, even tho we wouldn't be at the venue yet. I can not say enough about what a pleasant experience this was for me. I needed flowers to match my wife's wedding bouque and I needed them fast. Yes, I'm that guy, it was last minute. (VIP service for everyone!) Champagne and sweets service were just like one of the movie scenes, they give you REAL opinions/advice, no pressure, make sure your guests are enjoying things as well, and they have GORGEOUS gown selections! No other store's gowns could make me smile that much, but Geny's gown did! They also gave me an opportunity to meet a designer, Daniel Thompson, and he designed a perfect dress just for me! He is so talented! He picked my random explanations of my dream dress, and he drew exactly what I was imagining. I am so happy I could have this great experience for my wedding. I didn't end up not purchasing a gown from Geny's, but that is not a reflection on my amazing visit. I was having a crisis with the original dress I had ordered (from another shop) and called Kim at Genys in desperate need of a new dress with only 10 weeks to go before my wedding. She was very reassuring on the phone and said "how soon can you get here". She saw me that day!! We tried on a few dresses from the sample "for sale" rack, she was patient and honest with me. I could not have asked for a better consultant to help me. After a few dresses the Owner Joan came into the appointment all 3 of us discussed what had happened with my original dress and they explained to me they knew someone that could fix it!! So instead of selling me a new dress Kim sweetly looked at me and said "take this money and go fix your dress". BTW the lady who they work with for alterations does NOT work for them, therefore they did not make any money. They were very selfless and honest and I wish I had came here to go shopping first! Even though I didn't buy my dress from Genys, it was close. Kim is fantastic - she took such good care of me that I did end up going back there to purchase my bridal jewelry and my veil. I used Geny's for my wedding and it is hard to find a positive thing about my experience. From the consultation, pricing, and execution, they made mistakes. I went in for a meeting and spent over two hours talking about my order with a consultant. Shortly after, they informed me that the woman I spent all that time with was leaving and would not be the one executing my order for the wedding. They knew she was planning on leaving when they allowed my to have my consultation with her. I felt as though they wasted my time, because I had to re-communicate my requests via email. At my consultation, they guaranteed me that we could get my vision within my budget, so I made my deposit. It proved to be much harder to meet my vision than they let on. When I received the quote for my wedding, it was inconsistent. For example, the price for my bouquet was more than double the price of my bridesmaids bouquets, but the list they provided showed that it would only include a few more stems, not twice as many. I also do not have kind things to say about their execution. After I could not afford to spend money on renting their equipment for our reception, they agreed to make some cheaper wooden boxes for a spot on our church's stage. I sent them measurements of the space and even included pictures of the space with a measuring tape on the shelf indicating the size so they could see the exact measurements to make boxes they would fit in the space. When the boxes arrived, they were way too big to fit. They were also going to use a leafy plant to decorate some of our tables, but I had to bring it to their attention that the plant they chose would probably brown by the time our guests arrived and requested a different plant. I would not recommend Geny's to another bride or event planner. read more
