I originally came to Dr. Ambus after being treated by another great dentist in the area (remaining nameless since I switched I don't want to diss her) Anyway Dr. George originally saw me as an emergency when I had a problem with a temporary crown, needless to say he fixed the rootcanal and put in the crown, all on a Saturday which was awesome since I've taken too many sick days for my wallet to handle. Okay back to Dr. George, okay he's hot on the upside, married on the :( oh well one can dream right???? So since I find every excuse in the world to have a dental issue I decided to get Invisalign treatment, not that my teeth were really crooked to begin with (according to Dr. Ambus who said it wasn't necessary) but sorry Dr. A the eye candy is. I give Dr. George Ambus a 6 : he knows his profession ; will treat you with respect and kindness; lets you decide what course of action to take rather than forcing a treatment plan on you; he makes sure that whatever procedure he is administering does not hurt you; he is always gentle and informs you step by step of what you ll feel next; make you feel relaxed with his "Chill Out" music and by showing videos of gorgeous sea/landscapes. He has a small ego , a big heart , and everything he does speaks of deeply caring about his clients and his work. His staff is friendly, professional and overall delightful. Dr. George Ambus is an amazing Dentist. He has been our entire family's dentist for over 30 years. He is the best dentist by far of the 3 dentists we have had over the years. Earlier today, even though it is Labor Day Holiday, Dr. Ambus came into his office early to treat my infected back tooth and swollen right side. Even though he worked almost 2 hours on my root canal, he was entirely professional, performed the root canal almost 100% painlessly. I had this issue for 3 days, and Dr. Ambus did not want me to suffer pain needlessly. I am feeling so much better. My family and I all highly recommend Dr. Ambus. Dr. George Ambus is an outstanding dentist! He is very thorough and competent as well as professional and gracious. I have been his patient since 2005 and he provides exceptional care. Prior to him, all my experiences of going to the dentist (excluding my childhood dentist) had been unpleasant. Since 2005, I have lost my fear of going to the dentist and now love going. It is now a very pleasant experience. Dr. Ambus takes the time to educate his patients about their condition and on his recommendations, so one understands why it is important to maintain your dental health and the long term effects of poor dental hygiene. This office is awesome. I was referred there by a co-worker who I really trust. My previous dentist recommended I take all the metal fillings out of my mouth since they were very old. When I saw Dr. Ambus for a consultation a got a different story. I was able to see the fillings on a monitor and Dr. George said they were still in pretty good shape. Okay, he said one needs to be replaced. But better than having all 17 replaced. He was not pushy trying to oversell services. I felt really good about him and the consultation was free. His helpers have a great personality and the office is very friendly and efficient. I scheduled an appointment to have the one flilling replaced and I had my teeth cleaned by his hygienist yesturday. This review is specifically for the office and hygiene staff. I usually see Dr. Ambus in his San Bruno location not SF. When I went last week I did not see him, only Christine his hygienist, and Jen the office manager. I had a question about my bill and Jen took every step to explain it without making me feel like I was super lame. She even had my prescription called into my pharmacy while I was in the dental chair so it was ready before I left the facility. Super on point staff. I saw Christine for my hygiene appointment. Christine was super gentle and soft spoken, she's a very friendly girl. The location has ample parking, although I like the San Bruno parking better because you don't have to cross a mall to get to the building like you do in SF. read more

Dr. Ambus and his staff are the very best! I even referred my next door neighbors to him and they love him too. Dr. Ambus is very intelligent and communicates well with his patients. He explains the dental procedures in a concise, comprehensive fashion and gives alternate choices for any given procedure. Jenifer, the receptionist is also excellent. She schedules appointments and handles her work load efficiently and accurately. I was always scared of dentists before, but Dr. Ambus and his staff are first rate, top notch professionals. I went to Dr. Ambus for an emergency visit on the weekend after having a nightmare experience with my dentist out of state (just moved to the area). Dr. George was very caring and gentle, got me out of pain very quickly. He explained the entire process of what he was doing to me by putting a camera in my mouth and showing me what the problem was on a tv screen. I hate dental visits because of shots and pain but he numbed me up and calmed me down. His staff is very friendly and comforting, especially Jennifer in the front and "Ro" in the back, very funny girls. OK. There I was. My previous dentist gave me a chemical burn due to a botched root canal, so I had to find a great dentist quickly. Found Dr. Ambus here on yelp and am I glad I did! I had several cavities & a few crowns that had to be taken care of. Everyone at this office is really sweet and very professional; they care about what's going on there. And Dr. Ambus? He' also a really nice guy and great dentist, starting with almost painless injections to the perfect crowns needing absolutely zero finishing work. What an artist! I have really bad gum disease (yuk), so he's watching me closely for decay. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! Great office & fantastic DDS! read more

Dr.Ambus's office was a great experience for me! He had a very individualist approach to every patient, making me feel comfortable and special the entire time.
