My family has been going to Dr. Avalos for over a decade but I can longer recommend this practice. Unprofessional, inappropriate, and incompetent staff My wife who has a medical condition, was made to feel guilty by a staff member for not verbally disclosing said medical condition. Despite the fact that she disclosed this on her intake paperwork. It is the job of the medical team to review this information when performing any procedure that may be contraindicated. In the same week a staff member from this office used my wife's personal information (employer and insurance) to call and ask a personal question not directly related to her care. This is a violation of HIPPA and is completely inappropriate. This used to be a respectable dental practice but it seems like support staff is severely untrained and incompetent. Unprofessional staff. Was lied to about the price. After being a patient of Dr. Avalos for over ten years, I was recently lied to by her staff. At the time of the procedure, they quoted me $400, and told me my insurance would cover the rest. I made sure that they double checked with my insurance. I didn't want to spend over a thousand dollars on all the extra work they wanted to do. I get the work done to my teeth, I pay the $400, everything is fine. Fast forward about a month later. I get a call from her staff saying that my insurance didn't actually go through, and I owe $700 added on top of the $400 I already paid. Next Dr. Avalos's staff asked me to contact my insurance to ask why my claim was denied. I contacted them, and was able to confirm that her staff didn't even talk to anyone with my insurance. Even though I asked them personally to make sure that this was covered. I was then told that all they did was leave a message for them. Her staff never even called back. I contacted Dr. Avalos's office again to tell them what I found out. They then told me that "they did their part", and "there's nothing they can do" even though they didn't. They then tell me that they would try to dispute it. After a couple weeks I got a call back saying that I now owe them $700, and that the claim was still denied. Her staff also made me feel that I was trying to scam them or something. Why would I do such a thing after being their patient for 10 years? It sounds to me that someone on their end made a huge mistake. Instead of trying to make it right, they deny it and try to make me sound like I'm scamming them. Stay away! During search for new dentist, I inquired on insurance. Other offices were very open with information on their fees (in-network, etc.) Dr. Avalos office did not willingly or fully disclose their premier status (resulting in high fees). I then began to receive an insane amount of calls, at all times of the day, very pushy to schedule a cleaning appt, advising exam appt will be scheduled for another day. Very odd, it is customary for patients to have cleaning/exam at same time. Regardless of full disclose of being Premier Dentist, the hygienist informed me of my portion after insurance while looking at her computer screen. At check-out, I was charged a different amount, stating it was for Dr. exam fee, since Dr. referred me to specialist. I assume I would have been charged full exam fee at the separate exam appointment? I understand the reason for their office scheduling appts separately - more charges for patients. I received a bill in mail for 5 times the original amount quoted - completely contradicted hygienist amount. Office is not upfront, provides treatments without consent and disclosing there is fee involved (while patients assume it's all part of their cleaning routine) and then surprises us with additional fees in the mail.. Overall, very unprofessional business. I don't believe anyone would appreciate being quoted an amount before cleaning begins and then only later to being charged surprise charges at premier status level. Your a dentist and you don't pull teeth then why would I have a primary dentist that refers me everywhere because her high class only does what dental work she wants to do. Oh and don't forget those cat scan referrals she sends you to. As a dentist she should be able to tell you when a tooth needs to be pulled by x-rays but instead refers you for these 500 cat scans. Also during my visit i only seen the actual dentist dr avalos for 10 seconds of my visit her staff does everything. A dentist should spend more time with her patients. If dr avalos spent 5 min looking at my mouth she would of seen the abces on the tooth instead of referring me to her friend 500 cat scan to say the tooth is not fixable. And another thing cracks can be fixed with fillings. But of course your answer is always a crown. Crowns are alot more expensive then fillings. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Avalos for the last 10 years or more. In the past I had to take a calming tablet for each visit as I tend to have panic attacks. The staff and Doctor Avalos have been extremely accommodating with my situation to the point that I feel so comfortable when I am in the chair that I have stopped taking the calming tablet for most of my visits. I have been a patient of Dr. Avalos since she began her dental practice (before Dr. Avalos took over the practice it was owned by another dentist who retired). I have been going to that office since middle school and I am now 34 years old! I love going to the Dr. Avalos, not only has she never recommended unnecessary work, she is great at what she does! My husband is also a patient of hers, and she has gone above and beyond with his dental care/work, she worked on some crowns for him, and recommended a specialist before she finished placing the permanent crowns. She really does care about her patients and the delivering the best possible smile! I also had some veneers done on my two front teeth because my teeth were worn down and one had a chip, she did an exceptional job, no one can ever tell tell that I have veneers! The dental hygienest couldn't even tell until she took the x-ray. If you are looking for an excellent dental practice with great staff look no further! Dr. Avalos has been my dentist since I was a pre-teen. The work she does is amazing. Her practice and staff is warm hearted and welcoming. Years ago I chipped my front right tooth. Throughout the years Dr. Avalos and her staff did everything they could to correct the chip. But this past year I needed more of an aggressive treatment. Dr. Avalos suggested a veneer and she wrote many letters to the insurance company to get the approval. Dr. Avalos went above and beyond to get me the treatment I needed. Finally after a long year we got the approval from the insurance and I got the veneer I needed. She walked me through the process and made sure I was okay every step of the way. I, like most people, don't like the Dentist. I don't like to go for any reason, I try to avoid it whenever possible. Bad childhood memories and experiencing way too many "normal" Dentists have led me down this path of detest. Now, don't get me wrong, I do go to the Dentist, I mean I am not an 18 year old who for the first time in my life gets to make my own decisions and avoids any and all responsibility... The consummate professional, Veronica does incredible work, has great technique, is very reasonable, and has a sensible approach with regard to dental care. Sensible in that she's not going to suggest you do a bunch of dental work that you really don't need just because your insurance will take care of it. Overall, she has some really great and important qualities anyone would want in a dentist and has an incredible staff. Dr. Avalos, came in and her assessment of my husbands dental situation and emotional state were spot on. Not only was he in need of a front tooth, he was also dealing with 2 cavities on both sides of the needed tooth. She informed us very calmly of what needed to be done by letting us see everything. The technology that she uses is of high quality and she was able to communicate as well as visually show us dental terminology simply. She was amazingly skilled at handling both with ease and precision and within a hour and a half we were ready to leave. This is my latest, updated review for Dr. Avalos. When you have a dental emergency it is so comforting to have a dentist like Dr. Avalos. As I've said before, Dr. Avalos is the only dentist who listened when I said I could still feel pain after being numbed. She tried a different injection and it works so well I cannot feel a thing when she works on me. Dr. Avalos always gives a thorough explanation, discussing all options for your dental care. She weighs the pros & cons and helps you decide what would be the best course of treatment. I've lost count of how many crowns Dr. Avalos has done for me, but each one was painless and not a single one has given me any problems. This time it was a front tooth and she brought in a specialist to match the color of my other teeth! The end result is amazing, no one could tell I have a crown right in front. And zero pain through the process. I also have something called Angular Cheilitis which my Dermatologist couldn't help me with. Dr. Avalos prescribed the right medication and it cleared up immediately. I"m not an easy patient and I'm sure I'm not their favorite patient, yet I'm always greeted warmly by Corina (love her) and by Dr. Avalos. I've had a lot of dental problems, so believe me when I tell you Dr. Avalos is a great dentist and I recommend her highly. One more thing, I did have some pain the night I had my crown done. Not recommended, especially for procedures. After going to Veronica Avalos, DDS for many years, I went to have a cavity filled. The procedure itself was extremely unpleasant and I experienced pain for days. Five days later, I consulted with a new dentist and he informed me that there was an air pocket/ bubble in the filling. Basically the filling had not been done correctly and had to be completely replaced. Do not recommend Veronica Avalos, DDS for procedures such as fillings. read more

Dr. Avalos walks around in her high heels, checks your mouth and then lets her incompetent assistants work on your teeth. Her assistant CRACKED MY TOOTH during a procedure and she denied that it happened. When I returned with tooth pain Dr. Avalos told me it would take 3 months for my mouth to heal. I DID NOT have tooth pain before I went in for the procedure. Why should I experience pain for 3 months??? Went to another dentist who immediately took a digital picture of the tooth I was complaining about and told me I had a CRACKED TOOTH!!! I called Dr. Avalos and wrote her a letter and received no response EVER. Needless to say, Dr. Avalos is NOT my dentist. BEWARE if you have anything done besides a routine cleaning. read more

Dr. Avalos has been our family dentist for years. I have also seen Abby their hygienist at her office. I also agree with Diana L. that she is great. The atmosphere is great and the staff couldn't be more professional and nice. Dr. Avalos is very personable and she couldn't be more of a perfectionist when it comes to any kind of dentistry. She was there along with our family orthodontist when one of our children had a horrible accident 13 years ago. They worked for hours on him into the night and now years later you would never know looking at my son's smile. It has to be perfect or its not going in permanent in by Dr. Avalos. That I appreciate as we are all perfectionist and feel that a smile and teeth are the first things people notice. She has also created a beautiful smile on our daughter with the Invisalign treatment. Dental visits are never easy to come to terms with but the team at this office made my visit a pleasant one. The front desk was very polite and welcoming when I was scheduling my appointment. The hygienist, Abby, has a soft touch and was very gentle during my treatment. Towards the end of my appointment, Dr. Avalos came by for an exam and had an answer to every question I had. Dr. Veronica Avalos is among the best of the best, and I've been blessed with great dentists my entire life. Friday evening my #29 tooth fractured. Specifically, a piece of the tooth along with a portion of attached amalgam (from a filling done 45 years ago) broke off. I called Dr. Avalos' pager and she returned my call soon thereafter. She asked me to come in Monday morning, AND to page her over the weekend should I experience any pain in the interim. Monday morning I went in and two x-rays were taken of that specific area (only). Dr. Avalos fit me in for the next day (Tuesday) to begin part one of the two-visit procedure to crown the tooth. She made sure I was comfortable throughout Tuesday's procedure. Dr. Avalos and her team have worked together for a long time, so in a sense each knows what the others will do before they even do it. They are a seamless team. Had two more veneers done by Doctor Avalos who just came back to work from having her second maternity leave and I have to say she has not missed a beat. My veneers came out incredible. I have always wanted to do my front teeth so they would look natural and realistic and she did not have a problem doing it. Her team and herself are great at what they do and work like a well oiled team. I would also have to say that customer service with the girls in the front has changed for the better. I needed help with my insurance and their office manager did a great job in helping me understand the process and notify my insurance for me to get everything squared away. I've had a lot of anxiety my whole life when it comes to going to the dentist. I wouldn't allow my parents to take me until I was 12 years old and had 7 cavities and couldn't wait any longer...so for me to be giving a dentist five stars, you know this is a good dentist. I know a couple other people who go to Dr. Avalos, and we all seem to agree on her approach. Dr. Avalos takes a real inventory of who you are, and what your individual needs are, and pairs you up with a hygienist that she knows will suit you, although any one of them is awesome and they too will customize their approach to suit your needs. Her own "chairside" manner is always the perfect mix of professional and personal. Ever since I chose Dr. Avalos as my dentist, I've actually gotten over a lot of the anxiety I had surrounding the whole endeavor, and I never put off scheduling my appointments anymore like I used to. The whole staff has a way of making you feel comfortable, but you also feel like you're in an office that is running like a finely tuned machine. I have a lot of history with pain and anxiety when going to the dentist. It has never been easy for me. Until I started going to Dr. Veronica Avalos and her team. This place is like visiting family. Everyone at this office is friendly, professional and especially sensitive, communicative and understanding. I have had over 15 years with Dr. Avalos and with that time, a lot of work completed. All of my experiences have turned out positive and (I can't believe I am using this word with dentistry), wonderful. The hygienists Ildiko, Carina, Sandy and Leti are all great and clearly enjoy their workplace as they've been there for so long! The office staff clearly explain the insurance coverage and help with follow up. Dr. Patel and Dr. Joy are also superb additions to this office. EXCELLENT!
