Came to Carr after a freind referred me. Had crowns done in addition to regular maintenance. Painful work, and I had never gone through anything like that before. Ugh. My crowns are wearing alright ftmp but one broke while I was sleeping. There were other things I experienced that just didn't rub me well when I was going there. I don't go for all the gadgets or magazines. Dr. Carr himself had made some comment that I was over reacting or something to that effect made me feel uncomfortable. His bedside manner isn't what I would classify as professional. I had referred a few others to this location as well and they also quit going to this office. Upon entering Dr. Carr's office, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly staff. Clearly this dentist has assembled an excellent group of professionals who's positive and upbeat energy truly made them stand out from all the others I've ever had. Going to the dentist has always been a bit hard for me, but with this group - my stress levels immediately dropped due to the humor this staff has...fun, hip, modern and funny. I was impressed. I had a pain under a tooth, I couldn't really explain it well and was worried they wouldn't know what or where...Dr.Carr could sense this and had me stand in this wild 3D X-ray scanner machine that was super tech and super cool - he pulled it up on screen, rotated it, and zoomed in on the source of my pain (a small infection under a crown) wow. I've never seen anything like it. They then sat me down in the chair and it was show time. I opened my mouth and their upbeat and funny social demeanor took a more professional tone in the dialog between them. It made me feel good, right then and there - I knew I was in the hands of trained professionals. I heard the drill and started to tense up like I always do, but just as soon as I did, they relaxed me with a combination of smart humor and funny stories...Leah was the tech assigned to me, AWESOME. Ask for her...handling me is like defusing a bomb, she was such a pro. It was painless. Never mind the incredibly high tech, state of the art equipment (which I must say was impressive) ...it's the people. This is such a great group of people. She was my hygienist who was very welcoming and informative. Did not scold me for not flossing daily and instead said let's hop in and get going with a friendly manor. I am just frustrated with the scheduling. I called on Friday and I was scheduled for the following Monday. The appointment was not super urgent. I was told to file all the paper work in advance. When I went to the clinic, I was made to wait for 20 min and when I questioned I was taken inside. One of the assistant came, talked me and told me that she will take an xray and then went out and didn't come for 15 min. I was super frustrated by this and I left the chair, the front desk told me that sorry for the delays and they had a lot of emergencies, but they will take care of me soon. They took me back and said that they can take my xray now but but dont know when dentist will come as he was super busy. I was super annoyed by this and decided to leave. So long story short, after 45 min of wait no one saw me and I just left frustrated. I understand that they were busy that day but why didnt they call me earlier to reschedule. Called to book an appointment and the young woman on the phone, who was admittedly pleasant at first, would not stop trying to sell me on other things. I need cavities filled and a permanent retainer removed before I have invisalign put in by my orthodontist. She then tried to sell me on getting invisalign through them, when I already have a long standing relationship with my orthodontist at home. Apparently they can't fill my cavities because I'm not getting my invisalign done at their business? I'm flabbergasted. read more

He explains in great detail what he will do before the exam and then debrief on what he did and recommendations for treatment and their priority going forward. Started having tooth pain fri night, called there emergency line and got a appointment right away. Turns out i needed to have the tooth extracted due to a crack in it and infection bellow it. Wow everything went so smooth. Dr. Carr explained to me my options and once we had a plan of action it was removed with little to no discomfort. Hmm. I guess I'm an outlier, but I figured I should let others know about my less-than-stellar experience here. I'd been seeing the same dentist in north Phoenix every six months for three years before moving to Mesa, and was worried I wouldn't find anyone I liked as much. But I was encouraged by the positive Yelp reviews for George Carr's office so I made an appointment for a cleaning and exam. At my final appointment with my old dentist six months previous, I was declared free of cavities. Then Dr Carr examined me and gave me a list of about 10 things I needed fixed in my mouth. I allowed him to work on a couple that he had listed as the highest priority, but when I left that appointment it just wasn't sitting right with me. How could my last dentist have missed all that stuff? Dr Carr was condescending when I asked him that, and it really felt like I was being shamed for the condition of my teeth. I take really good care of my teeth, so this was a first for me! (Oh, this reminds me: different staff member even tried to push orthodontia on me, which is almost laughable: I have ONE TOOTH on the bottom that is almost imperceptibly crooked.) Anyway, I ignored all of their calls and emails (trying to set up additional appointments to finish the other 8 items on the list) and waited out the insurance-required 6 months until I could get another opinion with a different dentist. Long story short(ish), the new dentist I just saw yesterday said that I am cavity free and that I don't need ANY work done. Sure, there are a couple of little spots he wants to keep an eye on for the next several visits, but nothing that requires immediate work. Some of the old fillings that Dr Carr said I needed to have replaced were just showing signs of staining, not the decay Dr Carr had assured me was eating up my teeth. I'd had a feeling Dr Carr had been overly aggressive in his treatment plan, but I wasn't expecting to have SUCH an extreme conflict of opinion. There was a lot of other weird stuff, too. Several Yelpers have mentioned Dr Carr's off-putting bedside manner, which I didn't think would bug me, but it really did. He's cold, abrupt, and infuses his interactions with a healthy dose of shaming. And I observed a couple of things that seemed to demonstrate that he intimidates his staff. I don't want to elaborate because I know he reads these and I don't want to get anyone into trouble. He also used a dental dam while working on my fillings, which I have NEVER encountered. It was claustrophobic and almost dehumanizing. Wow this is long. TL;DR -- dentist is too aggressive in his treatments, and not very nice to patients or (seemingly) staff. Also, they offer perks for positive Yelp reviews...so. Take all of them with a grain of salt. read more

Dr. Carr is a great dentist--he is very gentle and does a great job of explaining the pros/cons of procedures. Unfortunately, his staff is a nightmare. I have been to his office twice now, and both times my bill has been a completely incomprehensible mess. The charges minus the payments does not equal the amount due. I don't have dental insurance, and I asked what the cost for a cleaning would be before entering the office. His staff preformed xrays and "advanced" cleanings I did not request without my consent. I walked out of there with over a $300 bill for a routine teeth cleaning. Looks like it's time for me to find a new dentist. read more

Today was my first time at Dr. Carr's office, and I plan on going back. Aside from getting lost on my way to the office - everything was great! I came in for a cleaning and routine check up because I am a bit obsessive when it comes to my teeth. Now my mouth feels great, the hygienist (I believe her name is Renee) was gentle, and made sure everything was up to my standards. Unfortunately, there are a few things that I will have to get fixed in the next few months, but even that will be an easy process - as they give pricing all up front! Dr. Carr and his team really have it down. From my first to last interaction, they have made going to the dentist a breeze. I haven't been to the dentist in probably six years or so and I decided to use my dental insurance(finally) and get my teeth cleaned. I made an appointment same day and they got me in and had me in and out the door in about an hour and a half. Felt like just the right amount of time and had no wait to be seen. I had some more work that I needed done so today I went in to get it done. The numbing process for the fillings was short and pretty painless for the most part and Dr. Carr and his assistant worked quickly to get me all filled up. Finding a dentist can be difficult but George Carr & associates make it so easy! I scheduled for New Patient Service and Cleaning. When I arrived I checked in and filled out my information packet for new patients and shortly after my name was called I was greeted by the lead dental assistant Jamie and she was fantastic she took pictures of my teeth and explained the process thoroughly so I knew exactly what to expect. Soon after Dr. Sadeghi spoke with me and educated me on Invisalign and recommendations moving forward. I've never met a Dental staff that was so nice and helpful! While waiting for my cleaning a few staff members asked if I needed anything which is a small detail but very considerate. I had my teeth cleaned by Emily and she did a great job very thorough and took her time. I've been going to Dr. Carr for years! He's thorough, personable and hires great assistants and hygienists! I was never nervous going to my appointments because I trusted him and his team. I've only had one bad experience with a filling being placed by an outside dentist he brought in during a time I assume he was busy. She administered what she said was the maximum localized anesthesia, but I could still feel the procedure. It was pretty painful and shook me up emotionally, of course, that's compounded with my fear of oral surgery. So, take that with a grain of salt. I decided to stop going to his practice when I was told two weeks before my next appointment that it was being canceled (after being booked for six months in advance) and that they couldn't get me back in at my usual 7:30 a.m. appointment time for more than two months (that would be about eight to nine months between my check-ups, depending on the specific date). I sense something has changed in the administrative side of his business because I would have never guessed something like this would happen. I intend to find a more reliable dentist's office and I honestly wish Dr. Carr the best. You're great! read more

I know no one likes visiting the dentist especially when you're aware of the work that needs to be done. But I had to adult and set an appointment. Now let me tell you, I was really nervous to have my wisdom teeth pulled but they were very understanding AND patient. I felt extremely cared for throughout the process. They advised I would feel pressure but it won't actually hurt which is true. Once the meds kicked in, I was fine! I followed instructions and I was able to speak the next day. From beginning to end, every visit to this office is fantastic! I haven't been to the dentist in quite a while, and picked Dr. Carr's office because of his reviews, and everyone in the office lives up to those reviews. Betty at the front desk is so sweet and understanding, and always willing to do what she can to accomodate me and my cray schedule. Mauro always remembers who I am and is super knowledgable about my chart and what I need. He has a way of breaking things down for me in a way that I can easily understand (I don't speak dentist). I ask a lot of questions (many of which he has already answered and I just don't listen) but he is always super patient... and he laughs at my jokes even when they suck. I had to have a lot of dental work done over the past couple of months at this office (I had to repair 10 years of damage from not seeing a dentist), and now I'm doing Invisalign to straighten the grill... finally... at 31! #letmeseeyagrill :). Dr. Carr is such a cool person to interact with, and he's honest about what needs to be done - he doesn't try to car-salesman you into something you don't need, which is refreshing. I'm so happy with my experience as his patient, and I have recommended him to all of my friends, family, and co-workers. I Just got done with a 4 hour procedure and the experience was so good I wanted to post a review before my enthusiasm wore off. My younger brother found Dr. Carr years ago. He shared him with the siblings. I was so lucky my brother was willing to share this find, because I have been around the dentist block. I have some pretty blinged out teeth (gold crowns) and I favor chewy candy. That is not always a great mix. Dr. Carr and team are always so nice when I come in with something I have pulled off* (Milk Duds, Hot Tamales are no longer part of my candy choices) and he is honest about the work that needs to be done on my teeth. The front desk (Beverly previously and now Betty and Nancy) are always so polite. They have been able to pop me in recently after I had a crown done (went with porcelain this time- gonna miss my gold!) and it needed a teeny adjustment to fit. And did you know that they make porcelain crowns in office, so I did not have to walk around with a temporary on for weeks?! It was magic. My teenager now goes to Dr. Carr too. He has had a ton of crazy dental work previously and actually reminds me to make his appointments for yearly checkups with Dr. Carr to manage his upkeep. Dr. Carr is direct and honest about what needs to be done. And doesn't push braces onto me or my child. Dr. Carr treated my child like a person- discussed the work he wanted to do and how to handle the baby teeth. My child made a dental decision based on his interaction with the dentist (and me) but it helped that there was no baby talk, just honest interactions. So yeah, I recommend this dentist. Ok so preface, I've travelled a lot and seen a lot of dentists in my life. I'm also a physician so I'm pretty hard to please. With that said, this place was simply awesome. It is a bit lost in a medical/dental complex, but once inside...it's amazing. Clean, modern, there's bottled water and an Xbox set up. The staff is so friendly and walked me through the paperwork. The dental assistants and hygienists used modern equipment, and walked me through everything they were doing. I typically hate the dentist, but I can't stop raving about this place. Best dentist office I've ever been to. I normally don't do yelp reviews, but this place is totally worth going to, and I found out about it through yelp.
