1-Star Review I recently had a total knee replacement and am reviewing the administrative experience only. Before surgery, I waited about 30 minutes in the office to schedule my post-op appointment. The receptionist was working alone and clearly overwhelmed, trying to manage phones, scheduling, and the front desk in what appeared to be an understaffed office. After surgery, I called three times the next day to adjust my appointment time. Each call resulted in being placed on hold for several minutes before disconnecting. When I finally reached someone days later, I was told the schedule was fully booked and no changes were possible. I've lived in Camarillo for over 40 years and used this practice many times when it was owned and managed by George Erb, with consistently excellent service. I never experienced anything like this in the past. Based on my recent experience, the office appears severely understaffed, communication is poor, and this is not a practice I would recommend in its current state. read more

Great PT staff. The office staff is also great. They've made huge improvements since originally being purchased by two trees.

I did physical therapy here with Meagan. She is very creative. I also worked with a few of her assistants I am blanking on the names. But very thorough. Nice techniques for stretching afterwards. There is a room for assessing you on the initial visit. You start on the stationary bike to warm up. Then you do your exercises. I liked that it was close to me. Parking seemed okay. However, it is a good idea to come early ish, since it is next to a gym and has a tendency to fill up. The waiting room seemed good. The front desk has two windows and the people who do the scheduling and work the phones are very nice. read more

I went to George ERB as I had a painful torn muscle in my right shoulder area which made any movement of my arm and neck very difficult and painful. After the first visit of six I felt better and was given exercises to complete at home. These I followed and at the end of my visits I experienced 100% improvement. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and professional. I will not hesitate to contact this establishment if I again feel the need. read more

Very professional and great service from the physical therapists and techs. The scheduler and office staff gal is super nice and helpful. My whole family has gone for extensive therapies post surgery and injuries. Only issue - but a big one - THEY NEVER TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING!! It's so hot and stuffy in there and three of us have all been treated here and all of us have the same complaint. It's so stuffy and hot at times you feel nauseated while doing the exercises. Update: My lovely insurance company has decided I am finished with PT. PT is not something you really WANT to go to, but I am SO glad the first place I was supposed to go didn't have any openings and I ended up at George Erb. I have never seen a group of people that work so well together, get along so well and are just nice, fun people. At 7am or 5pm, always the same. Megan has been fun to work with and has helped me a lot. Brandon, Alina and all of the other techs (I'm bad with names, sorry) have all been super helpful and easy to get along with and worked me hard while giving me positive feedback. The ladies at the front desk have also been amazing. Great communication and very well-organized. This is a great, clean, well-run facility and I will miss them! Bummed I didn't get to say goodbye! read more

I tried to make an appointment, and the office staff was of zero help. They said they could not find a prescription order from the doctor. Then when I called the doctor's office, they said they had sent it. I called George Erb's office back, and they said they had found it, but it had the wrong year, and I had to wait to make an appointment until a new order arrived with the correct year. They said they would call me when they received the order, that was a week ago. I have not heard a word. I called my doctor's office, and they had resent the prescription on the day I called. Very disappointed in their service. If they are too busy or have too many clients, say so. I am moving on to a new physical therapy center after using George Erbs for over ten years. I went to George Erb's Physical Therapy and eventually his fitness place because I knew him and decided to support his businesses without bothering to shop around. Big mistake. While Erb's non-management staff was friendly and knowledgeable, after departing his businesses I started asking around and looking around and quickly realized there were better options in town for both physical therapy and fitness. I wish I had looked around from the beginning. Since we all have our own unique likes and dislikes, I simply suggest people shop around and go with a place that meets their physical requirements and also has an environment in which they are comfortable. This should include ownership and management that demonstrate they value their customers and staff as individuals and they treat everyone with respect, and they know it is always wrong and totally unacceptable for a manager to yell at somebody, even if that manager is having a bad day. A good physical therapy and fitness business would not disagree with any of this. read more

I came for a manual therapy, soft tissue manipulation for my chronic low back pain and per my Doctor's orders who is a DO. I am very disappointed in the therapy that was given. No manual therapy.. They gave me a copy sheet of exercises to strengthen my core. It did not help my inflammation which has caused me constant pain to do my everyday activities of grocery shopping, household chores. They gave me exercises to do at home and I am still not better. I never did meet George the owner. read more

I have been to a few physical therapy establishments in Ventura County. George Erb is by far the best. They have helped me with my neck, shoulder and lower back issues through out 15 years. Their staff is professional, comforting, and will give you a training regiment that you can use for home. Their equipment is also top notch. The background is The PT was good and friendly enough although I did want printouts of exercises and only received ones of the first visit and even though I asked, they were not given. I am being treated there for two problems. You are paying for their expertise and I think you should have a printout which also shows a pic and description. They can also be emailed, there's a website they can be dropped in that they pull them off of. You can have your own access. I was still happy enough going there but for this: One of the female assistants is not very kind. I noticed it the first time I had her service. She makes it clear she doesn't want you there though there's no reason from me for it. She doesn't look you in the eye or smile or greet you in any way, she's very cold for no reason on my behalf. She told me to "jump up" from a table where my legs were on a triangle. She doesn't offer to remove the triangle your legs are elevated on when you get up from table which isn't sensitive to injured people like me being treated for it elsewhere for correction and here for strengthening. The other assistants do. It's important because I just had adjustments which relieved a lot of pain from an injury of a bulging disc into a nerve and I don't want to disrupt that. I've had sleepless nights over this frightful injury. I later let her know I'd like that assistance due to my injury and she cut my appt off 15 min. early and before that I had to deal with the triangle again without assistance. I may look younger than I am and therefore she may have wrong impressions about me, thinking I'm lazy and shouldn't be there who knows. That is not for her to judge. I would gladly throw my problem on anyone who doesn't believe me and they can live the nightmare. I had noticed in the past another asst. walked away fast from the get go upon giving you equipment to use to look at a poster on a board, or anything else to not be around a customer but he improved. I noticed when you arrive if a couple of female assistants saw you they would look away when they had time to greet you for a sec or smile, like you're nothing. I did mention that to the front desk previously, making it clear it wasn't about getting anyone in trouble. I left unhappy with the asst on Friday, but knew not to take much of the PTs time on way out, and let the front desk know I wasn't happy but there was no manager and I was told PT left for the day. Would rate much higher with a kinder asst. I think it would be necessary to not schedule her into my appts. if I stay. Nothing like being treated rude as a customer. I should not know that she doesn't want to deal with me, a patient, and has no care or concern. I'm very pleasant and her job is very easy in the short time she has with me. read more

I'm starting my fourth round of therapy for various injuries I have had over the last 20 years. Although the treatments are glueing and sometimes painful they do a great job getting you up and going again. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and caring with very positive end results. The worst pt place. I went there for an ankle sprain and I got so judged by the therapists about how I sprained it. I felt isolated and I never once had the same therapist. I was booked for one person for 4 weeks and never once had her. The aides didn't know the exercises. They pushed me way beyond my limits, to the point where I couldn't walk one day after my session. I never felt good after leaving. It wasn't until I went to a different pt place where I realized that I didn't make ANY progress at George Erb. I made more progress at my new place in a week vs being at George Erb for six weeks. Overall, my experience was filled with judgment and no care. read more

I had been a customer of George Erb for over 25 years, both with PT and working out with the trainer in the gym. I had to go back to PT for a previous injury. My former therapist moved out of state and I was assigned to someone else. I do not question this new therapist's qualifications, but we were not a good fit for each other. I called Mr. Erb and only got his voice mail. I left a message that I would like a different therapist assigned to me. Again, I told Mr. Erb I do not doubt the new therapist's qualifications. I just wanted a different therapist who would be a better match. Mr. Erb's response was to have an office assistant call me and said I was not welcome back. I was a customer for over 25 years and Mr. Erb could not pick up the phone and call me? I should feel comfortable with the therapist in order to receive optimum success in my therapy. I once had a former employee of Geroge Erb tell me to never question Mr. Erb. I see now this is totally correct. read more

I was expecting Erb to send me a feedback form, as most business like to know how to improve, but as they did not, here goes. The therapists are very friendly and nice--in fact, that seems to be where all the training goes. Erb is very efficient, but not very effective, as least in my case. I guess if you have just had an operation, or a stroke, their factory-like system could help you. But, absolutely no one there seemed to have any training with scoliosis. One PT even asked if I had had x-rays! The slight S curve in my spine is visible to even a six-year-old. But no one bothered to look at it! Also, scoliosis requires a different type of treatment than those problems that I mentioned above. All the muscles in the back are related, yet (because my doctor wrote neck pain), all the (tiny amount) of massage was directly on the neck, with no results. Also, my neck needed loosening and all the exercises were contracting the muscles in my neck. AND they initially wanted to put ice on my neck! Every massage therapist or chiropractor always puts heat on my neck and back. Due to no alternate methods being tried, and no results, I was discharged, and I promptly went to my chiropractor, who, in five minutes, was more effective than a couple of months with Erb. Over the last few years of my 60s and 70s, serious pain has occurred in my shoulder and back, which doctors say call for operations. George has given me physical therapy which has almost removed the pain. In fact, my freedom of movement has increased. I came to George Erb PT with severe neck pain and within 3-4 weeks I felt sooooo much better! My therapist was really sweet and she always spent a lot of time with me. I decided to do therapy for my shoulder here because my doctor told me to come here. I have to say I was not that impressed. The front desk girl Kristen is very nice and helpful. The ladies that check on my insurance were also good at what they do. But I felt the therapist did not spend a lot of time with me. At first I thought it was just me, but I would see him sitting behind the glass area a lot talking with his other friend or on his phone. Most of the helper people are really nice except for one in particular. He was the head helper I guess and was rude at times. The other helpers seemed to try their best but seem to always be running around between multiple people, so sometimes I would be alone for a while. I stopped going to my appointments to see if I could do the same thing at home and then it got better on its own so I stopped going. read more

Excellent place for physical therapy. I've returned here several times over the years and have been treated by Matt. Matt's not only knowledgeable, but he's friendly and genuinely interested in getting me back on tract and over my injury. (Thanks Matt!!) The entire staff is pleasant and the business operates like a very well-oiled machine from reception to physical therapists, to techs, to massage therapists and everyone else. I'm not ever left sitting in an empty treatment room for long and while hooked up to stim, I am checked on mid way through and promptly disconnected at the end of my 15 minutes. I would be hard pressed to recommend George Erb PT. Went in for PT post op from a microdiscectomy and ended up with a new bulged disc. Initial intake and first couple sessions appeared to have purpose and focus. After that felt no different than the attention provided by a personal trainer at a gym just hustling you through so the club can cash in on the special package they sold you. read more
