I was recommended to Dr. Derek Taylor at CVPT after my doctor prescribed PT for lower left back pain in the L3/4/5 areas. I easily made an appointment on the phone, and was pleased to find a clean, casual, comfortable facility. Derek met me and we discussed what I thought I needed, and he gave me a thorough evaluation and examination, before we started to work on a variety of simple yet effective excercise routines, plus his physical manipulation of my spine and lower back area. As things progressed, and pain became much more manageable, he added additional activities to make sure all the areas were covered. My regimen also includes home exercises to continue and maintain the progress. Initially fearing I'd need surgery; I was pleasantly amazed to find out that my pain diminished to near nothing after a month or two; the additional therapists and helpers at the facility are also top notch and very courteous and professional. It's now been about six months since I began working with CVPT and have transitioned ("graduated") to home exercise maintenance only. Derek and anyone I've encountered at CVPT rank as thoughtful, smart, qualified therapists and assistants. Very friendly, discrete, and highly professional that really took my needs to heart. Hopefully I don't need to go back any time soon for any more PT, but if I did, I would go back to CVPT (Camarillo or Thousand Oaks) without question or hesitation. I would like to preface by saying that this might be a wonderful place for some but this review is strictly pertaining to my mothers surgery which in she had hip pinning from a femoral fracture. She hasn't left a review due to she was happy with her physical therapist as far as a person so I will leave this strictly on the behalf of for her particular surgery, I would not recommend this place. After 4 months of physical therapy twice a week and watching her actually do every exercise everyday and still being on a cane, it wasn't until we ran into a old client of mine that was a physical therapist as well that told us to switch to a different location in newbury park that we actually saw progress within the first 2 weeks of being there. she was off her cane and is now walking with a minor limp. She continues to make improvements and with a chiropractor now informing her that she has no reason to be limping still as everything is the right length but her muscles are all tight and specifically asked where she went. I'm not saying this place can't be great or life changing for some other surgeries but I do think there needs to be some new research into physical therapy for this particular surgery. I hope this is more of a learning experience for those that work here. I understand a lot of patients do not go home and do the work they need to and it can be disheartening to put the effort into your patients but the mental toll this can take on someone who is trying can be very damaging. I'd like to add that the lady had informed her after a couple weeks of being there she finally did some research on different exercises because she wasn't aware of what to do for this surgery. We all know know that time can be of the essence after a major surgery involving any muscle damage and can lead to muscle atrophy along with a decrease in blood flow and possible rejection of the surgery. read more

You are in great hands at CVPT. I am so grateful for my experience here! Nathan was my PT and he is extremely knowledgeable and talented at diagnosing and treating injuries. After seeing 3 other PT's, plus surgeons, chiropractors, and an acupuncturist, it was an answered prayer to receive the guidance I needed to finally have muscle imbalances in my shoulder corrected and my spinal alignment healed. Nathan was understanding and supportive through the whole process, and he took the time to educate me about the source of my pain. This allowed me to feel confident that the exercises and stretches would help, and kept me motivated to practice them daily. The PT assistants, Ben, Christian and Blake are also invested in seeing patients recover and are friendly and attentive. The center is incredibly clean and sanitary, and they have a variety of top-of-the-line equipment so that you can become stronger and more flexible as you progress through your treatment. Whether you are recently injured or at the point of giving up on finding treatment that will work for your condition, I highly recommend visiting CVPT and allowing them to get you on track toward lasting recovery! read more

I just finished my fourth week of rehab for my recent knee surgery and I am amazed at how far I have come towards full recovery. I started PT 1 week after surgery and after 2 weeks of PT I was able to walk normally and without a cane or any signs of a limp. Jennifer and one of her assistants, Ben have been amazing. Their process is very directive at each stage of recovery and it works. In my opinion, if a patient is willing to do all the work and at the level asked, they, too, will be amazed at their rate of recovery. It should be noted, though, that Jennifer is very attentive towards a patient's comfort zone when doing exercises. I expect that I will be able to ride a stationary bike and climb stairs normally in the next few weeks, which is only 7 weeks from surgery. This is one of the best Physical Therapy offices I have been to. I started coming to Conejo Valley PT Since January 2018. I was in pain and was limping and on disability from working with special needs kids, due to my left IT Band swelling. I have been in physical therapy non-stop (2-3x per week) for seven years. I've seen a handful of skilled Physical Therapists but everyone kept missing the source of my pain. At 33, I was really starting to give up hope of getting back to the active life I once enjoyed. Despite three successful spinal surgeries (C5-C7 Fusion & C4 Artificial Disc Replacement- L4/L5 & L5/S1 both ADRs from Dr. Todd Lanman in Beverly Hills, who is also amazing). My MRIs looked perfect and I had been extremely diligent with therapy for 1.5 years. However, I was not improving and I was still living in extreme pain. While my PT at another practice was very talented, we had hit a wall. My husband did some research and found Jen. He suggested I see her due to her extensive work with Ehler-Danlos/Hyper-mobility patients. Once I started therapy with Jen, I began progressing rapidly. I couldn't believe it! When I first came in I could not do ANY exercises without significant pain and had been attempting for over 10 months. Within two weeks I was able to exercise. Overall, I have dramatically improved my ability to function. From another angle, I really appreciate how the office operates. Every single member of the staff is professional, polite and engaged. There is always someone right by you going through exercises, monitoring your progress and ensuring you aren't in pain. You are honestly never without assistance. Kelly, their Office Manager is always on top of things. Overall, the team is very patient focused and comes along for the journey, so to speak. You would think that this is what most offices do, but it is sadly not the case. I'm so thankful to have found them. If you have been to therapy and haven't had success in the past, I'd highly encourage you to keep an open mind and try CVPT. :) read more

Seniors beware! After having been a patient with CVPT for over a year under one insurance provider and then switching insurance to a medicare insurance provider, I informed CVPT of the change. They assured me that they accepted my new insurance, that I would have zero copay and that all charges would be covered. After 8 sessions, I discovered that CVPT was not in network for my insurance provider and they would not cover payment for treatment. Six months later CVPT sent me a bill for $2,726. with no explanation for the charges. CVPT negligently misrepresented to me that I was covered by my insurance when I was not. I could have, and currently do, receive these treatments from another provider at no cost to me. read more

I have had a shoulder injury for multiple years. I thought I was honestly too far gone until I talked to Jennifer Vonarb, the owner and head physical therapist at Conejo Valley Physical therapy. Prior to seeing Jen, I saw an orthopedic surgeon who ordered an MRI to get to the bottom of my injury. Before receiving the MRI, I went and saw Jen who did her own evaluation and told me she believes I have a tear in my labrum and in the capsule of my shoulder. What do you know? I get an MRI and it was exactly what she had predicted. After years of being in pain and having a lack of range of motion, I have been seeing Jen for just over a month and my shoulder has full range of motion and is a lot stronger. No surgery needed! She gave me exercises and treatment, was very easy to schedule with, and always makes my experience great. Jennifer really knows what she is doing and has completely healed my injury. I started at Conejo valley physical therapy in 2010 and my legs were huge from lymphadema, both of them. From the very beginning Jennifer showed me how to really take care of my legs and I followed the program I would see results, she made no promises of how much, just that I would continue to see progress. Well it's 2019 and I am at 1/3 of my weight, my legs have continued to approve and they are so small. Everyone else and I saw just wanted me to maintain and not get bigger I have followed the path she taught me to follow and I have only four sizes left to get down thanks to Cvs PT I know I only see the light at the end of the tunnel but I've got my legs in the sunshine. I am so grateful to Jennifer Vonarb and her terrific staff at CVPT. I have benefitted more in the last three months of PT with Jennifer than I thought would ever be possible. In the last 6 1/2 years I have been attending physical therapy almost continuously in various PT practices of Ventura County. I would end up either getting injured more or just not be able to progress. Jennifer's assessment skills stunned me-- she was able to pick up in five minutes what has been missed for years by multiple therapists and physicians...one of the main reasons for my chronic back and neck pain.
