I would not recommend this therapist. He'll ask you to email the reason for wanting / describing your issue to schedule an appointment . After he reviews he determines if he wants to see you. In other words he screens your emails and he later denies you an appointment. He should be more professional and let you know from the beginning if he is accepting patients but he doesn't and makes you waste your time. read more

I 've seen three PTs over the past couple years for my chronic tendonitis, and George has by far been the most helpful in my recovery. I found George through Yelp and decided to come here since it wasn't too far from my house, and I'm glad I did! I had sprained my ankle and it didn't seem to be getting better by itself, so I was looking for a PT to help speed up recovery. My doctor recommended seeing an orthopedist, but they didn't have any openings until several months in the future (so I started looking for more immediate treatment). I saw George once a week for about 2 months. Each session involved him massaging/stretching/icing my ankle, and my appointments always lasted the full hour. He also gave me exercises to do at home that ended up being really helpful. George is really nice and personable, and we always had fun chats and conversations each week (while The Office was playing in the background). Fingers crossed that I don't injure myself again, but if I do, I'll definitely seek George out for treatment, and would 100% recommend others to come see him too!! read more

I came to see George 2 months after a Partial ACL tear. I was not doing great because my previous PT basically had me on an assembly line conveyer belt where I had almost no useful contact and made little meaningful progression. They were suggesting to my surgeon I should go under the knife. I felt pretty grim about it really. After changing to George on the surgeons recommendation, within 3 or 4 weeks my muscle strength returned. The exercises I was given were actually relevant and helpful. George helped me understand what the heck was going on inside my knee, which in turn made me more confident about my recovery, which in turn made my recovery even better. I'm back at it again and I have full confidence that my knee can stand up what ever I throw at it. After two back surgeries in 5 years, I've seen my fair share of physical therapists in the city and George is a standout. He's very knowledgeable, friendly and - unlike many of the larger PT companies in SF - takes the full hour 1:1 with every patient. He's able to do a lot of hands on work and give me plenty of exercises to do at home. He's also constantly researching/trying new techniques to continuously improve my treatment. For me to write a review. 2 Things have to happen. 1.) I have to get along & like that person. 2.) that person better do their job well. Extremely well. Or I am not wasting my time. That said, after my bad cop intro. I am very glad that I chose George Haras for my physical therapy, after AC Joint Separation Surgery, after I snapped the 3 ligaments holding my clavicle to my shoulder blade. Without the surgery, I could not get back and do the things that I love. Like swim a mile in Aquatic Park, swim at Sava Pool. Or any of the other physical activities that I enjoy doing. So I take my rehab, after any sports injury, seriously. I am glad that I chose George after shopping around. Unlike other PT places in the Sunset, where you are treated like a number & herded like cattle; George takes the time and effort to make sure you are getting the right care inside of the time that you meet with him, and outside as well, with informative recap emails, of stretches, exercises, etc. Knowledgeable, kind, and a good teacher. The PT massages that George performed to my shoulder did wonders to working out the pain. Increasing blood flow. And helping with range of motion. I would recommend George to family & friends. I really enjoyed my session with Dr Haras, and most importantly he fixed my back pain and also gave me some helpful tips with the foam roller for future maintenance. Time was spent very efficiently, questions were answered, and we covered as much as we could within the hour. Found George through my ins company and so glad I did! I "Yelped" him and found great reviews and went on his website. Loved the fact that I can check my insurance and book an appt with him without having to call him (I'm anti-social when it comes to that).. Within a couple hours, George responded through email and confirmed my ins coverage and also confirmed what his availability was and how much my copay was. First appt, I parked a little further away cause I didn't know where the hell his office was lol. Didn't have a problem finding meter parking tho and his office is super close to Lou's sandwich if you were craving for some deliciousness lol Been seeing George almost 2x a wk for several months now for my neck pain. He's been a tremendous help in my pain and u might ask why am I still seeing him after a couple months? I'm to blame.. he gives me instructions and exercises for home.. and I try to practice that but with my wild baby, I barely have time. So, for anyone looking for a physical therapist, you should totally go to George. He's located right above a gym but that gym is pretty awesome too. The owners and trainers are super nice. They always say hi to me. It can be a little bit hard finding parking at peak times but you'll def still find one Another note, George takes a whole hour with you and never rushes you out and cleans before and after every pt. He's super funny, super easy to conversate with and super easy to make the whole appt feel like you were just meeting a friend to have lunch lol. read more

I've seen George for almost a year. He's very pragmatic and also give's great advice about working with your doctors. He is very flexible with scheduling (please don't be rude and cancel same-day or no-call/no-show). He has a great bedside manner, and is a good conversationalist. I've had a great recovery with George, first with a chronic tennis elbow injury, and then a subsequent broken shoulder from skiing way too fast at Squaw (doh!). With my limited knowledge it seems with my injuries he used traditional PT techniques, active release, McKenzie Method, scraping, and cupping, all with positive results. read more

Unfortunately for me I have torn both rotator cuffs (shoulder). One 5 years ago, one recently. In the first case, I went to a typical PT outfit and got 15 or 20 minutes with the PT and the remainder of the hour with aides who ran me through the routines. In the most recent case, I went to George. Instead of 40 minutes with aides and a short visit by the PT, I received a full 60 minutes of attention from a PT. The results, when compared to my last experience, have been very noticeable. George has been an astute observer of my progress, a great practitioner and teacher of in-office and out-of-office PT routines, and is an enthusiastic "cheerleader" to get me through this irritating chapter of my recovery. I've seen other good PTs over the years -- George was great. What sets him apart is his ability to listen and his willingness to meet you where your body happens to be. I worked with George after nearly a year of chronic lower back pain (a mild but persistently uncomfortable herniation in the S4/S5 area), e-stim, ice, traditional stretching exercises, etc. I'm convinced that George's program - specific stretching exercises and spinal manipulation/massage - was the missing piece to rehabilitation. He also gave me a better understanding of how my spine works with the rest of my body, which is something I continue to learn about through continued observation, stretching, and (take note, fellow back sufferers) Pilates -- something I never would have had the courage to try with my ailing back had it not been for George's help. I was referred to a "large" physical therapist by my ortho (who I later found was run by the wife of one of the ortho's at their practice). After doing some research, I found George who has been awesome. Some highlights: 1) Personal care. He gave a thoughtful and detailed assessment where he asked a number of questions and listened to get a real understanding of my issues and long term needs. 2) Dedicated and skilled care. Unlike many PTs who give you a quick assessment and pass you onto an assistant, you get George's skilled and qualified attention throughout the whole appointment. As I'm early in my treatment, he has provided a combination of manual care (i.e., hands on), exercises, home treatment and continuous and attentive care. Don't let the trappings fool you. George gets the job done as far as physical therapy goes and gets you healthy again. It's great that he is personally working on the injured area. This is a level of hands-on service that's almost impossible to find nowadays. Most physical therapists will just give you a few minutes of their time, hook you up to some form of machine or gadget, or pass you off to their assistant who watches you exercise. I was referred for PT for very painful arthritis in my knees. I went on Yelp and when I saw that George had all 5-star ratings, plus an office minutes from my home with parking, it was an easy decision. I, too, have had bad experiences with large PT offices. George provides wonderful care and treatment, is very knowledgeable, asks questions to get a thorough understanding of the problem and is a very personable guy. We chatted about lots of things during the 60 minute appointment while he does massage and stretching, explaining the reasons for and importance of the home exercises he assigns . I was borderline needing surgery for a SLAP 2 tear, bicep tendon tear, and generally messed up shoulder! I had no idea I had injured myself so badly until my shoulder froze up. After years of dealing with various physical therapists and doctors to help mitigate my bilateral hip pain, my mom recommended George Haras as a hands-on physical therapist that had shown her great results for her neck pain. Although I was very skeptical due to a lack of success with other therapists, I decided to go. It was one of the best decisions I made all year. George is not only a funny and kind individual, but also an amazing therapist who incoporated hands-on work and physical exercises that challenged my instability issues, which was never addressed at other PT places.
